It's Raining Men

Messing Around

Rate this book
I bite my tongue, staring him down with the force of twelve years of pent-up hatred. He stares right back, those blue eyes crackling with amusement. Damn him for laughing at me.
Still.

Elizabeth
Logan Miller is single-handedly responsible for ruining my life.
Tackling me with the force of a professional football team. Spreading rumors at school.
That one thing I won’t mention.
Ever since the eighth grade I’ve been known as The Panted Lady because of his evil antics.
Turns out, twelve years isn’t long enough to get over my hatred for that jerk.
And to think, we used to be friends.
Those days are long gone. Now that I’m jobless, broke, and living with my terrible match-making mother again, I’ve got nothing better to do than exact revenge on an old enemy.
But when Logan has the gall to start flirting with me, you can bet things are about to get messy.

Logan
Liz Clements is back in town, and she’s just as feisty as I remember her.
I’d forgotten how much fun it was to push her buttons.
She turns everything into a competition, and I’m never one to turn down a challenge.
Especially when that challenge involves a twelve-year-old feud and a woman who fights dirty.
But this time, fighting with Liz feels more like fighting for her.
Having her back in my life makes everything more interesting, and I don't want to lose her again.
If there’s one thing I know about that woman, it’s that she appreciates a good battle.
So that’s exactly what I’m going to give her.
And then I’m going to do what I should have done all those years ago.
Make her mine.

Author’s Note: A smoldering hero with a penchant for mischief, a hot-mess heroine looking for trouble, shameless panty jokes, a quirky small town obsessed with relay races, and a whole lot of messing around.

This small town is paradise. Beautiful beaches, year-round warm weather and friendly neighbors. There’s only one thing missing—single ladies. It’s Raining Men in Spring, Florida and the lonely residents are hungry to find their soulmates.
Some of your favorite instalove authors are bringing you stories set in this fictional town where the men significantly outnumber the ladies. Come meet us in Spring to find your next book boyfriend!

Oh my word I laughed out loud at this couple! Liz and Logan are childhood arch enemies. Liz is a sassy, out spoken, competitive woman that is still trying to figure out her life. She is now back in her hometown with a meddling mom and her old childhood nemesis Logan.
Logan is a sweet, sexy hometown boy that has grown into a man with swagger and confidence. He runs his own lawn care business and still finds time to push the buttons of Liz. They have sassy witty banter and even though they are two adults when they are in each other's company the gloves are off and the old rivalry is on. There is a fine line between love and hate and these two are about to roll right across it!

OMG!!! WOW!! Fab*u*lous Absolutely love this one!! I couldn't put this one down. This was a nice quick, short read.

Logan and Elizabeth met in eight grade, they were friends at first. Until the Spring to Spring Competition where after Logan won he pulled Elizabeth's pants down and left her in her underwear for the whole town to see. After that day Elizabeth and Logan became enemies, always arguing with one another. When Elizabeth graduated high school she went to college in another state and graduated four years later with a business degree. Elizabeth ins't sure what she wants to do with her career so she goes from job to job trying to figure it out. Elizabeth doesn't date much because no man has drawn her interest. After Logan graduated high school he started his own Landscaping business. Logan works in Springs Florida owning Logan's Landscaping. Twelve years later, Elizabeth comes back to Springs because she gets fired from her job. When she arrives back her mother tries to fix her up with any available men she knows. When Elizabeth heads into town she hears people talking about her and her incident that Logan pulled on her all those years ago. Elizabeth heads to the gym and Logan comes in shortly after. Logan gets on the treadmill right beside Elizabeth and soon they are in a competition. Elizabeth leaves the gym and mindless walks around town, she can hear the people talking about her. She ends up at the department store at the mall and is buying lacing undies. When Elizabeth gets home she decides to make herself something for breakfast, her mother comes in. Her mother tells her she set her up with one of her father's friends from work. Elizabeth goes on the blind date but is trying to get out of it, she notices Logan sitting just behind her date. Elizabeth excuses herself to use the restroom and tries to climb out the windows, Logan catches her. He tells her he'll help her escape if she does something with him. Elizabeth ask him what she has to do and he tells her to go with him when he checks out the course for the competition. Elizabeth agrees and they head into town. They check out the course, but soon start kissing. Logan tries to get her pants off, but she's won't let him do that. Elizabeth tries to get Logan's pants off, but then the sprinkler system starts up and they both run. When they escape Elizabeth realizes when Logan's laughing at her she doesn't have her pants on, once again. The next day is the competition and Elizabeth doesn't want to look at Logan, she thinks he wanted to get in her pants to distract her. Logan soon realizes that Elizabeth thought he wasn't being sincere with her last night, he tries to talk to her but she cuts him off. Soon the race starts and Elizabeth is winning, but Logan catches up to her. When they head for the mud pit, they start wrestling in it and she kisses him. Elizabeth soon realizes she's losing and all the others are ahead of her. When she takes off Logan soon follows her and passes her. They come in last place, but at least they finished. As they stand and watch the awards being handed out Logan gets everyones attention. He pulls his own pants down, then he tells Elizabeth that he's had feelings for her since they were in eighth grade. Logan asks her to go out with him and she accepts. They head off to get ice cream, and he asks her if she'll be his girlfriend. Elizabeth tells him only if he'll be her boyfriend. For their date night Logan takes Elizabeth back to his place for pizza. Before the pizza arrives they are making out, he pleasure her and then they make love. They both confess they love one another. One year later, at the Spring Competition, it's a new twist with teams. Logan and Elizabeth team up together. They smoke all the other teams, they receive their medal. Logan goes down on one knee and tells Elizabeth that he loves her and always has, he's glad she came back to Springs, and then he asks her if she'll marry him, she tells him yes.

Anita Knight's Messing Around, the first book in the multi-author It's Raining Men series, is a fabulously entertaining, enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy you won't be able to put down. Logan Miller and Elizabeth Clements were childhood friends until Logan committed the atrocity of pantsing Liz in front of their entire small town when they were in eighth grade. Now back in town twelve years later after being fired from her job, Liz quickly runs into Logan - and they go right back to their competitive ways. Except this time around, they both have to admit to themselves that underneath the tension is a fierce attraction. Watching them navigate their explosive chemistry while trying to move on from the past is a highly entertaining read and a wonderful kick-off to to this brand new series!

I received a free ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Logon and Elizabeth Clement. I love the way Logan says her last name with such teasing.
The started out as friends in grade school and just about the time those pesky hormones start to make things weird Logan had to go and be a jerk and humiliate Liz in front of the entire town.
From that moment on for the next twelve years Liz is convinced Logan hates her and she hates him.
But in fact nothing it seems could be further from the truth they were both just to stubborn to admit it.
Lucky for because Anita makes this a hilarious and quick read with a great a fun competitive spirit, plenty of steam and a fantastic ending you won't want to miss!

First time reading this author (love these types of book series where I get to try new authors similar to ones I’m already following ;) and honestly I almost stopped reading early on but I’m sooo super happy I finished and ended up loving the book more than I thought I would. I think I’m just not a fan of the constant bickering and denying feelings that goes on in a enemy to lovers book, so it’s just not a romance Trope I enjoy. This one didn’t go on for long and it was clear to each mc pretty early on that they had some deeper feelings for each other, so it turned into a sweeter romance than I was expecting. I will definitely be trying more by this author.

Frenemies make good lovers 🔥

This is a cute story about two people who can’t quite figure out how or why they have always yearned to push each other’s buttons...since the eighth grade. Elizabeth is back in town after a job gone bad and it’s game on when she meets Logan again, after twelve years. Only what’s the prize they’re competing for this time?

This is a fun, fast paced rom-com. I adored Logan and had a bit of a time warming up to Elizabeth, who seemed bitterish. But she has her reasons and she certainly comes through in the end.

Nice

Great ideas, funny moments, sex moments were Luke warm at best. Overall a ok read. Would have been better had characters been more developed. Did Liz go to school, is she helping Logan with his business. She wanted to be his equal. The story made her seem like her life’s purpose was to marry Logan. It was old fashion and outdated on the moms part to think that what’s best for her daughter is to get married and have babies even if the man in that scenario is 20 years older?!

I am voluntarily leaving a review after receiving a free copy. I loved the humor in this book. Elizabeth and Logan have been competing for years but it was a cover for their emotions. The two shared pantsing over the years both ends and starts their friendship. They realize that they have loved each other and a year later appropriately Logan proposes after they win the Spring into Spring Competition.

If I ever find myself in a reading slump I will be giving this a reread. It was fast paced, comedic and the perfect enemies to lovers romance. There wasn’t any ridiculous drama or miscommunication keeping these two apart.

I’m pushing through with this series and will definitely be reading more by this author.

Logan and Liz

Absolutely love the first book in the It's Raining Men series. Logan has competed for Liz since they were little kids, and when she returns home their live story is so worth the read. Always a five star read from this author.
