It was ok. Sadly no virgins here. An epilogue without kids doesn’t cut it for me.

Book 2 of this series. Dane falls fast and hard for Cole’s little sister Chloe. He’s ready to give up his womanizing ways for Chloe but what will Cole say when he finds out? This was a great quick read. The characters were entertaining and had a great connection and chemistry. Chloe was an independent, hard working gallery owner and Cole was immediately lured to her brains and beauty. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This story was sweet and romantic with steamy parts and drama free. 😍😍Dane is Coles best friend and a bachelor by choice. Little does he know that Coles sister Chloe will change his whole life😉 Dane should stay away from her... but well the heart wants.... the heart gets😉 Can't wait for the next story in this series🥰🥰🥰

First Down is the second book in the Oakwood City Players and is the story of Dane and Chloe. Dane is football player with the Oakwood City Devils team and a good friend of Cole, who's story is in Game Plan. Early one morning on their day off Dane is picked up by Cole not knowing where they are headed. But Cole soon tells him they are going to an art gallery to help the person who runs it to help get things set up. It turns out that woman they are helping is Chloe, Cole's younger sister. Chloe has moved back to town from NYC to be closer to her family, including her two young nieces, and to run an art gallery. With her fer first show is coming up Cole brought Dane to help set up the show, moving walls, stringing lights and more. This is the first time Dane has met the "elusive Chloe" and let's just say that he is more than intrigued at the prospect. What he was not expecting was to have the thunderbolt hit to his heart when he sees her for the first time, let alone the snap, crackle and pop when they touch. But Cole has already made it clear that Chloe is off-limits to everyone on the team as he does not want her to be hurt in any way. Dane's brain knows this but his heart has other plans. Chloe is attracted to Dane but as he is a friend of her brother's and also a team mate she knows he is off limits. Or maybe not as what Cole does not know will not hurt him....right??? Well that may be good in theory but what happens when Cole actually does find out...a whole lot of whoop-a$$ and drama ensues.
This is a great story that had my attention right from the start. I loved the tie-in with the previous book and characters but also Dane and Chloe are both great characters also. First Down is a wonderful addition to the series and I am looking forward to reading the next to see which player falls next.

This book is about Dane and Chloe. Dane’s best friend and team-mate Cole takes him to the art gallery – which in itself was a big surprise. So imagine his even bigger surprise when he realises they’re there to help Cole’s little sister Chloe set up a new gallery she’s running. He’d never met her before, but had heard a lot about her. His best friend had tasked him with keeping an eye out for her, making sure the other football players keep their distance from her. That meant him too, but the way he was attracted to her would make it really difficult, but he didn’t want to risk his friendship or their playing dynamic on the field. So what would it be?
Chloe is also really attracted to and interested in Dane. Apart from being obviously very good-looking, she finds him funny, interesting and easy to talk to. They are at a stand-still, but Dane compromises with them spending time together simply getting to know each other – and taking it from there.
It’s swift, sweet and steamy. The characters are endearing and you can’t help but fall in love with them. The football players are like one big family, and the girls are all so supportive and friendly. I did feel like it ended a bit abruptly, but I’m looking forward to the next book, hoping for an update on Dane and Chloe, as well as Cole and April. I give this book four and a half stars.

C.L. Cruz continues her Oakwood City Players series with First Down, a wonderfully-written, best friend's sister / brother's best friend romance with two awesome characters. When Dane is asked by his best friend Cole to help set up his sister's art gallery, Dane agrees. And when Cole tells his best friend that his sister is off-limits, Dane agrees. Then he meets Chloe. And suddenly he gets what Cole meant when he suggested that one day he would be blindsided by love. Not only that, but he is caught between a rock and a hard place between his immediately intense feelings for Chloe and his loyalty to his best friend. Dane and Chloe have explosive chemistry, and the fabulous Ms Cruz utilizing my favourite romance trope just amplified my love for this couple. Chloe is extremely relatable and lovable, smart and sassy, and taking no guff from either her brother or Dane. And Dane is swoon-y in his transformation from player to one-woman man, and the way he understands and supports Chloe's dreams (while she has no comprehension whatsoever of football LOL).
I cannot recommend this series enough, and I cannot wait for the next installment.

Cole and Dane, are teammates first, and foremost, but more importantly, good friends. On this day, Cole has asked, Dane, for his help. Of course, Dane agrees. As they are driving for a while, Dane finally asks, where they are going. Now, Dane had always heard, Cole talk about his younger sister, but had yet to, meet her. So, when he says, an art gallery, he figures, he has another thing to, tease him about. Because when Cole’s girl, comes up PG, and they decide to get married. With him doing, the whole married-man thing. Dane and his teammates have been giving him a ration, of dog doo-doo, over it. Cole is open with the fact, that his sister is opening, her first art gallery, and she needs physical help, muscle to get that done. So, Cole volunteers, them both. Cole did not mind, at all. That's what friends do for one another. Although Cole did give, Dane a heads up that he would need his help keeping the guys from the team away from her. Dane isn’t naïve in thinking that, Cole is also directing the message at, him as well. Which before stepping foot in the gallery, he has no problem with. The eternal bachelor would fall, one day, for the right woman, Cole did always say. He just never meant, his sister. Very sweet sexy story. Of friendship, betrayal, and forgiveness.

Dane is a football player who goes with his best friend/teammate to help the friend’s ‘sister set up her new art gallery. Before they get there his friend warns him to not get involved with his his little sister. However, Dane is immediately attracted to Chloe, 27, and finds her beautiful and intelligent as well curvy and independent. Chloe has never been interested in sports but finds Dane handsome, fun, and easy to talk to. They decide to go on a date but they will decide to keep their meeting from her brother. What will happen when her brother finds out Chloe has been seeing his teammate?
I give this short instalove book 4.5 stars. I enjoyed this story about the overprotective older brother who arms his teammate that he should not get involved with his sister. Dane ignores the warning because he felt an instant attraction but inevitably her brother sees them together and there is a messy confrontation. You will have to read the book to find out if they can find happiness together.

Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with!

Dane and Cole are not only teammates on a professional football but they are also best friends. Chloe is Cole's sister and she recently moved back to town and has taken a job at a new art gallery. Cole takes Dane with him to help Chloe get the gallery set up. On the way to the gallery Cole does the typical protective older brother routine and declares his sister off limits to every guy on the team. Dane was fine with that....until he met Chloe. Of course he can't stay away from especially when she's not any other woman he's encountered. While she's proud of her brother, Chloe is clueless about football which is a refreshing change for Dane. They had a bit of a bumpy road to the HEA but they got there and it was perfect.

A reputation is almost impossible to outrun. Especially if that reputation is a negative one. That was Dane's problem and it was well known. But when he meets his best friend's sister Chloe, he knew this was it. He wanted the real thing, the forever love and this woman was his future. But Chloe knows all about her brother's friend, Dane. Yes, he was gorgeous, hot, muscular, all the plus signs a woman wants in a man. But that was on the outside. Dane had a rep as a player and with her opening her own gallery and moving her life forward, she didn't have time to deal with Dane. But Dane isn't letting his bad rep destroy his future. He will show his buddy and Chloe that he can be a one woman forever love. A really great book by a fantastic author. I highly recommend this book and this author.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second book in the Oakwood City Players series. In this book, Chloe moves back to Oakwood City to run an art gallery and asks her brother Cole for help setting things up. Cole is a football player and asks his teammate Dane to help, but warns him against dating his sister. Dane agrees, but regrets it when he sees Chloe. Chloe and Dane talk a bit and they hit it off, but when Cole returns, Dane has to bury his attraction to Chloe and try to forget her. Dane returns to the gallery and asks Chloe to get a drink, saying they will just be friends. They have a great connection, but Dane doesn't want to betray Cole. Chloe doesn't want to be a secret either. I really enjoyed this book. I liked Dane, he was trying so hard to be a good friend, but he really cared for Chloe. Good one.

Dane is a football player and is going to help his teammate out by helping setup for an art show at the art gallery his sister owns. The one thing his teammate says is don’t hit on my sister. Dane meets Chloe and as they spend the day working he finds they have a lot in common. Dane is interested in Chloe and wants to know more about her. Chloe feels a spark also. What is going to happen? What will Chloe do? What is Dane going to do? Will he go against his teammate? This is a sweet sexy little story about instant attraction, passion, and possibly love. It is a feel-good, can’t live without you, kind of romance.

First things first; I like the cover of this book!
First down is the second book in the ‘’Oakwood city players’’ series. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. Dane isn’t looking for love but that changes when he meets his best friends sister. Chloe is attracted to Dane but will love blossom between them?
The chemistry between Chloe and Dane is clear to see and I liked them together.
I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story.

Chole abd Dane were great together. Dane tries to fight his attraction to Chole, his best friend's little sister, but she has turned his world upside-down. Chole is drawn to Dane and doesn't care what her brother has to say about it. Then things hit the fan, Dane does the only thing that he can of to defuse the situation. Well it was the wrong decision and now he is willing to do anything to get this woman back. I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it and Ms. C.L as an awesome author.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this engaging entertaining and compelling instalove romance. There's plenty of chemistry between Chloe and Dane. The story is well written, fast paced filled with plenty of attraction, instalove, growing attraction, awareness, steamy scenes, and an overprotective brother! There's an epilogue and a HEA 💓

Dane is a football style and his best friend is on the team as well, and when Cole asked him to help his sister Chloe setting up her new business, the art gallery. He warns Dane to stay away from his sister, but they are both interested in each other. I really enjoyed this novella, the best friends younger sister storyline is entertaining and when you have strong alpha sportsmen you know there will be drama. Sweet and steamy. I liked both Dane and Chloe, likable characters.
This is the second book in the Oakwood City Players series, it can be read as a standalone story. No cliffhangers, no cheating.

Dane is best friends with Cole and they are both pro footballers. Cole's sister,�� Chloe is opening an art studio and needs help from the guys. When Dane meets Chloe, it's almost instalove.
This was sweet, steamy and well done. I enjoyed the rapport between Dane and Cole. But also between Dane and Chloe. I liked the way Dane described how he felt about her. Great story, sweet and sentimental.

Chloe is opening an art gallery and is waiting for her brother Cole and is friend Dane. While they worked she watched Dane work.
Dane has a great connection with Chloe. Even though Cole told me to stay away from his sister but he can't. The attraction is strong.
They end up telling Cole and it was the best thing. Now they can be together with no secrets.
While on vacation they decided to get married.

I absolutely loved First Down by C.L. Cruz. Dane, a pro football player has no intentions to settle down anytime soon so when his teammate and buddy declares his sister, Chloe off limits, he figures no problem. Then he meets the very beautiful Chloe and he is instantly smitten. Will Dane risk his friendship with his friend Cole to be with Chloe or will he walk away? Looking forward to book 3. 5 stars!
