A CHOCOLATE-BOX CHRISTMAS
The Chocolate Box Christmas by Josie Riviera
This short story is about Maise who's relocated from Alaska to CA and she's taken a job being a food/writer reporter.
On this assignment she must judge the chocolate contest at a nearby shelter. She knows many of the contestants as she's been around town.
She is able to meet Ben and she discovers his secret as to why he is there. He also finds out why she doesn't really want to be a judge, especially with anything to do with chocolate.
Fun Christmas read, enjoyed it.
Book ends with a note from the author, recipes, and about the author, other works by the author in series format but all can be read as stand alone.
...
A CHOCOLATE-BOX NEW YEARS
A Chocolate-Box New Years (Chocolate-Box #2) by Josie Riviera
This story starts out with praise for the authors' works.
Story starts with Julie and she not only runs the restaurant but owns it and works nonstop.
Love that her siblings live nearby and are very supportive. She feels migraines coming on often as she is doing too much, doesn't count on others to do her work.
Story also follow Lorenzo and he's a Italian local weatherman and others jest he hardly gets the forecast right. He wants her to take charge of the wedding anniversary dinner at her place.
She assumes it's for he and his wife but learns otherwise later...He wants his grandmother's recipe and she tries it with his being the taste tester and she just can't get it right-the recipe was very vague.
Her sister-from the chocolate shop tell her it's so he can spend time with her-he compliments her often.
Love hearing of the authentic way to make pasta and that she donates the leftovers.
Like the things they find in common after spending a lot of hours taste testing the recipe-he wants it perfect for the dinner.
With so much in common they can't find ground to stand on where one is off balance and you wonder if they will ever get together.
...
A CHOCOLATE-BOX VALENTINE
A Chocolate-Box Valentine (Chocolate-Box #3)
by Josie Riviera
This book starts out with praise for the author and her works.
This short story starts with Sally and her special chocolate won't be arriving for her to prepare it into special Valentine orders.
Her brother Ben and his fiancee will watch Sally's daughter Clarissa so she can head down the road to get the chocolate.
The truck driver had some problems with his truck. After Sally arrives a big tree crosses her route back home so she spends time at the diner.
Oliver has made everyone so welcome and she gets to talk to him and learns of his past as he learns of hers.
She decides she needs advice from others not familiar with her wares...
Like how different folks lives are discussed from all walks of life... so interesting.
Recipe included. Ends with an excerpt from the author's next book.

A CHOCOLATE-BOX SUMMER BREEZE
A Chocolate-Box Summer Breeze by Josie Riviera
Book starts out with s short introduction about the authors works and sign up for newsletter and free gift.
Story start with Emily and she's sitting at the location where she had met Joe from the storm where they were trapped together along with many others as the roads were shut down.
They exchanged information and stayed in contact with one another with calls. They learned a lot about each other and felt a great companionship when together.
When Joe, a truck driver does arrive they share a nice meal that the diner owner has put together. He's rather a match maker. She had lost her spouse a few years earlier and she feels as if she is intruding on her kids lives.
He has a surprise for her and she is agreeable. They are able to drive to a location where she's never been, a rather run down cottage by the sea. She does find faults with it but it will do. She loves the location and scenery and just doing things they want to do, no pressure.
Most important is she gets her own room, no pressure! Love the things they do while together but when he drops her off it's a good bye as he feels others see him as chasing after her and her money.
It's a wonder if they will ever get back together with one another after the misunderstanding.
Love that the couple is older and is in the same age groups as myself. Love hearing of the music and seashore.
Story ends with a note from the author and a recipe. Acknowledgements and listing of all the author's other works are listed.
...
A CHOCOLATE-BOX CHRISTMAS WISH
A Chocolate-Box Christmas Wish: (Chocolate-Box Series Book 5) by Josie Riviera
Book starts out with praise and reviews from others, introduction and newsletter information.
Story starts out with Cora who runs her own daycare for the local children and she's talking to her brother Jack. He's on the plan to lose weight for a good cause this winter and money raised going to charity. Love the ideas she has for the children around the holiday.
She recalls the fight she had with her father and hopes to make amends.
Many other characters in town from other works by the author are mentioned in this book and the story line is easy to follow. Love catching up with others I've read about.
While getting a drink she overhears one with car problems and she pipes up that she can help them. Patrick, he's the new reporter at the station in town and she wants nothing to do with him, dating specifically.
Things said are misconstrued and they end up growing further apart from one another.
He has a habit of mentioning her on the news that others also see and alert her that she must watch the TV.
Like the tech parts about jumping a car, it's a guy thing but author makes it perfect for this female that grew up with understanding things from her father.
Love how it all comes together at the end.
Recipe listed at the end of the book. A note from the author, listing of works by the author, and about the author are included at the end.
...
A CHOCOLATE-BOX IRISH WEDDING
A Chocolate-Box Irish Wedding by Josie Riviera
Book starts out with praise and reviews. Info about author's newsletter.
Story starts out with Colum O'Brien and he's on his way to his father's wedding. He will be in the wedding party and he wonders if the girl next door will be there also.
The story also follows Keira (kiki) and she's her mothers choice at the wedding. They are able to reminisce about the days they were dating one another, getting to really know one another.
Love hearing of her sewing abilities and how they each followed their dreams-he to be on stage in plays, her on the runway and even a designer.
Like hearing what they do now 30 years later and how things were left when they fell apart.
You wonder if they will get back together. Like Irish theme in this one and have heard the Irish blessing many times. So touching.
Love that this book is about 50er's characters.
Recipes included at the end. Note from the author is included.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion

A sweet set of clean romances…
Josie Riviera can make me sigh, cry, and laugh with her clean romances. This is a wonderful set that left me full of happiness and hope.

A Chocolate-Box Irish Wedding
Keira and Colum had a special relationship even as children but life and careers tore them apart. It took the beauty of Ireland and their childhood memories to bring them back together in time for a new year and a second chance at happily ever after. This is such a wonderful story of love lost and love found.

A Chocolate-Box Christmas
This story is so short it is more of a reading snack than a novella, but it is cute and I enjoyed reading it. Maisie and Ben are likable characters and I hope that Josie Riviera adds to their story sometime in the future because I can imagine some good possibilities.

A Chocolate-Box Christmas Wish
This is a quick, clean holiday novella, but it has some lessons in relationships and faith. Cora Carpenter has sworn off men and heartache and she is determined that her Christmas wish will have nothing to do with new relationships, but how can she ignore a stranger with car problems, especially when his car is a classic. Patrick Gervez moved to Bloomingfield for a new start on life after a bitter divorce. He lost his marriage and his trust in women, but the slim blonde with jumper cables is making him rethink his options.

A Chocolate Box – New Years
Lorenzo Rossi is a handsome meteorologist at the local television station who wants to throw a surprise first wedding anniversary dinner party at Julie Elliot’s Italian restaurant. Julie is a workaholic but she has to be to make her restaurant a continuing success. The coup-de-grace will be an Italian cassata made using his grandmother’s recipe and it has to be perfect. Julie does not normally meet with new customers since most reservations are made online but Mr. Rossi is insistent. She has no time for men. The one time she gave her heart, she was betrayed. This is a beautiful, clean romance with well-developed characters and a good storyline.

A Chocolate-Box Summer Breeze
So often romances are about young or at most middle-aged couples, but love does not look at the age when it happens; it looks at the heart. This Is a beautiful story about two people who may be past their primes but still have a chance for a new life together. For a novella, it packed a full-size romance.

A Chocolate-Box Valentine
This Is a beautiful story about two people who find love when God and bad weather bring them together. Sally and Oliver have buried themselves in their work to put aside the pain of the past rather than risk hurt again. The romance was full-sized, but I really wish the story had been just a little longer.

A Chocolate-Box Christmas
A very sweet and delightful Christmas novella! I had a lot of fun reading this and especially enjoyed the witty banter between Ben and Maise. They were so cute together and had really great chemistry. I loved the original idea of a food critic coming to town and being called upon to judge a chocolate competition. The task being made quite challenging since Maise has an aversion to chocolate!
A very fun story to read on a lunch break. I am happy to recommend!

A Chocolate-Box New Year's
Such a cute story! I had such fun reading it and was disappointed when it ended. This is more than just a holiday romance. Ms. Riviera did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life and pulling the reader in to their world. There are some misunderstandings that get in the way of the blossoming romance between Julie and Lorenzo. You'll have to read to see how it works out! I really loved the great descriptions throughout, I could almost smell and taste the food! This was a sweet, clean, and delightful romance. I highly recommend this story to anyone.

A Chocolate-Box Christmas Wish
Ms. Riviera gives us such wonderful, heartfelt and inspirational stories, and this one is right up there with all the rest. Her stories are always so touching and uplifting and leave me with a warm, happy feeling afterwards. Cora and Patrick are both lovely and endearing characters. Both have been burned by love in the past and are reluctant to giving their hearts again. They have a rough road in the beginning, as Patrick seems to say the wrong things at times and Cora keeps building up those walls to protect her heart. Will she finally break down those walls and let him in? This is a wonderful story of second chances and learning to love and trust again. It's a quick read, but a very captivating one. A sweet story not to be missed!

I received a complimentary copy of the story from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review.

An entire year worth of chocolate inspired romances. This avid reader enjoyed each story as it was released. Well done Josie Riviera.
A CHOCOLATE-BOX CHRISTMAS
A unique Christmas Chocolatey short story with delightful characters, a twist and turn plot. A great start for this unique premise to a series - a food critic who dislikes chocolate. Mmmm- interesting. Wonder how the story continues????
A CHOCOLATE-BOX NEW YEARS
Fresh pasta, star gazing, old movies and more. How many times would you bake a dessert for love? A Chocolate-Box New Years is unique that Lorenzo Rossi is a weatherman. As a reader and foodie, I wanted to visit and eat at Julie Elliot's The Pasta Junction restaurant. Together can they plan a perfect celebration. A sweet holiday romance.
A CHOCOLATE-BOX VALENTINE
As a retired English teacher I loved all the mixed up aphorisms and the reference to Byron’s poem about the best laid plans of mice and men. Some other favorite quotes: It’s the journey that matters. (Very true.) It’s your last love who truly matters. Spontaneous people have more fun. (My sentiments. After years of living on a schedule, so glad retirement leaves room for spontaneity.) Liked how the story moved along. A quick holiday read with delightful characters, some plot twists, and a believable resolution. The recipe is delish. Well done Josie Riviera.
A CHOCOLATE-BOX SUMMER BREEZE
Sometimes the older you get, the more it seems like you've disappeared. So very true. As a 70 year old retiree who loves chocolate and the beach, I could relate with Emily. This retiree also enjoys eating at diners and remembering musicals, the Beatles and a car with an eight-track player. Yes, eight-track cassettes are antiques, just like us. Nostalgia were the beckoning of a summer breeze, lighting the landscape of one's life. This novella is an inspiring read. Even though no mention of a pandemic, this mom can relate to Joe's daughter falling on hard times with no job and debt. Fitting for this unprecedented summer of 2020. Recipe for Peanut Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Bars included.
A CHOCOLATE-BOX CHRISTMAS WISH
Mr. Big Shot Anchorman Patrick meets home town child care provider Cora and sparks fly. This avid reader identified with both characters in this riveting page turning novella, having lived in metropolitan and small town communities. Certainly understand the draw to a budget friendly, slower pace, loads of living space to sprawl out, the comfort of driving with no sirens blaring in the middle of the night town. This mother's heart identified with Patrick's tumultuous life with his ex-wife - feeling manipulated and constantly off-balance. I have watched the behavior in my ex-daughter in law the last ten years. Josie Riviera imparts wisdom about Christmas, life and marriage in this inspiring novella. Choosing an unique present that will bring joy. As a German, I enjoyed the German connection and Tara's Church Window Cookie recipe, reminded me of Great Aunt Ella who made the delectable chocolate delights every Christmas and Easter. A Chocolate Box Christmas Wish is magical.
A CHOCOLATE-BOX IRISH WEDDING
A Chocolate -Box Irish Wedding is a Second Chance at Love HEA fairy tale. I enjoyed Josie Riviera's descriptive passage of the Wexford Irish country side. Enjoyed the Irish folklore with leprechauns, dreams, love, and blessings. Keira and Colum are brought together by their widowed parents finding love. Relatable characters, page turning plot and a believable resolution makes this a delightful New Year read. Recipe for Irish Soda Bread included.

Chocolate-Box Double Hearts was a great read by Josie Riviera. This box set consists of; A Chocolate-Box Christmas, A Chocolate-Box New Years, A Chocolate-Box Valentine, A Chocolate-Box Summer Breeze, A Chocolate-Box Christmas Wish, and A Chocolate-Box Irish Wedding. A Chocolate-Box Christmas (Chocolate-Box #1) was a great read by Josie Riviera. Kaiser has been tasked with judging a chocolate-making competition for an annual fundraiser for the women’s shelter. Makes is a food critic for the Bloomingfield Daily Dispatch. Unfortunately for her, she doesn’t like chocolate. Ben is the chocolatier at the last table and she knows that something isn’t right with him. A Chocolate-Box New Years (Chocolate-Box #2) was a great read by Josie Riviera. Julie runs The Pasta Junction and seems to be stretched thin. During the holidays, the restaurant is extremely busy, but she carves out time for the local weatherman Lorenzo. She is extremely attracted to him but he is planning an anniversary party and she knows he must be married. She discovers that everything isn't as it seems. A Chocolate-Box Valentine (Chocolate-Box #3) was a great read by Josie Riviera. Sally designed an infusion candy for Valentine’s Day but unfortunately the signature chocolate won’t be delivered on time. She decides to meet the delivery driver at the diner that he’s stranded at to pick up the order herself. Unfortunately a downed tree strands her and she takes the diner owner, Oliver, on to prepare homemade chocolates together. A Chocolate-Box Summer Breeze was another great read by Josie Riviera. Emily is a widow who doesn't believe in love anymore. She isn't looking for love or a relationship, until she meets Joe, another widower. They take the opportunity for a short getaway. A Chocolate-Box Christmas Wish (Chocolate-Box #5) was a great read by Josie Riviera. Cora Carpenter is from a small California town, where Christmas is made for couples. But Cora is a party of one, thanks to a con man that stole her heart and got her out of thousands of dollars. She meets a stranger with a broken down car, and is instantly attracted to him. Patrick Gervez is an anchorman who went thousands of miles for a fresh start. He is instantly attracted to Cora as well. A Chocolate-Box Irish Wedding was another good read by Josie Riviera. Colum O'Brien is a professional ballet dancer who is still hurt from his break up four decades earlier. He moved on but never forgot his childhood sweetheart, Keira Murphy. They meet again when his father is marrying her mother. Keira is a famous runway model. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

Too sweet

This collection of sweet, clean and wholesome love stories were too sweet for my taste. In each of the six stories the main characters meet and fall in love at first glance. No depth to the characters and the story lines in each was unbelievable.
