“You’re everything I never even thought about wishing for.”
After serving time in prison for killing a man, Boss is mostly content with his life in small town Tenillo, Texas. He’s got his friends, his brothers from the club, his job working for his mentor, and pets who welcome him home at night.
A single offhand comment to some friends changes his entire life. One glance at Jenn, and it changes even more.
From inmate to in love, Boss is on a roller coaster that’s got no chance to slow down. He’ll work together with his MC and the friends they’ve made in the Ares Infidels MC to clean up the town they live in and avenge the attack on his mentor, Pop. At the same time, he’s falling head over heels for the pretty woman in the fancy aprons who tastes like oranges and heaven.
An unhappy marriage sends Jenn on a cross country journey to find her happiness. After landing in Tenillo, she makes a comfortable home there. Since she doesn’t have children and never will, Jenn opens her heart to any stray that needs her love.
Between working in her coffee truck and taking care of her menagerie of animals, there’s not much time for anything else in her life until Boss comes along. Rather than pull her away from what she loves, he stands beside her and becomes part of it.
When Jenn is targeted by some of the unsavory characters that Boss has vowed to get rid of, she’s got to fight to save herself.
Two people who, at first glance, don’t seem to have much in common find out that they’re more alike than they’d imagined, and realize that there is such a thing as happily ever after as long as you’re both willing to work for it.

Not too sure how I felt about this, I wanted a solid MC read and this wasn't it, though it wasn't bad and I'll read the next book in the series as it is by a different author.

4.3 stars.
This was so good I couldn’t put it down.
I love every character in this book. And the animals! I fuckin Love when there’s a shit ton of pets and these did not disappoint.

This was hot, sweet, and completely stuffed with badasses.
I was worried for a hot minute after the first sex scene faded to black after the foreplay, but thankfully the rest of them were on page and hot as hell.
And honestly I still would’ve enjoyed reading this for the humor and the shit kicker FMC. My favorite trope ever is an ass kicking female lead who embraces the life her man brings to the table with savagery. It’s the fucking best. And this book definitely had it.

I loved the drama. The hint of mystery with the 2 clubs trying to figure out all the shit happening in their town. Which seems to be an over arching plot that’ll span multiple books, if not the entirety of both series’. Since we only scratched the surface in this one.
Usually that would bug the hell out of me, but in this case I’m excited to read the next book, learn more about Sin and meet his woman. And unravel more of the story.
So good.

My only gripe was that there was a pretty substantial section where the author just seemed to summarize/list the things that happened over a week and or a month long period. It made for its point across. But it wasn’t all that fun to read.

Now I have to close my eyes or they feel like they’ll pop out of my face. This book made me stay up way too fuckin late.

A Different Kind of MC

I’d probably give this book 4.5 ⭐️ if I could.

I really enjoy Cee Bowerman’s books that are set in Rojo, TX. This is the start of a new series, with no connection with Rojo. It’s about the Time Served MC, which is an MC made up entirely of felons, that have been helped to go straight by Pop, who lost his own son after he got out of prison and had no help.

The president of the MC is Boss and Pop and his old cronies who practically run the town decided that he should be the new chief of police, because he used to be a cop, despite serving 10 years for murder. Somehow they manage to get him elected and a friendly judge got his record expunged, and voila, he’s the chief of police. Once he starts his new job Boss finds that the police department is a dark and messy place, which explains why the crime rate is so high and the arrest rate so low.

Jenn is very intelligent, has three degrees, and is successful. She’s fairly wealthy but she hated her old life. She decided to divorce the cheating husband, took him for every penny and kicked him out of their shared company. She then put her assistant in charge and left the state. She wound up in Tenillo, TX. She had a great house built, adopted a whole farm's worth of animals and set up a food truck selling amazing drinks and desserts. She didn’t need to do it, it was just fun because she loved baking so much.

When Boss pulls up at the truck’s window, sparks fly! It turns out despite their apparent differences they may have more in common than is obvious at first.

I really enjoyed this book. I like that there is a undercurrent of a long term plot that will flow between this series and the one being written by Ciara St James. There is more darkness in this book than previous ones by this author and I think I enjoyed the book more because of it, especially when contrasted with the pithy humour, which is so evident in the author's other books. The plot was interesting and I fell in love with all the characters really quickly.

I think it’s an interesting approach taking two MCs written by two different authors but with a continuous timeline. Ares Infidels are an MC made up of ex-military and provide support to Boss as he tries to clear up the darkness in their town, left behind by the old Chief of Police, and this MC will be the focus of Ciara St James.

I am really looking forward to the next book being released next month by Ciara St James as I am looking forward to getting to know the Ares Infidels better.

Boss is the first book in the MC series Tenillo Guardians. In it, you will meet Jennifer and Boss. Now she starts off in a shitty relationship. Mostly because her husband had a 5-year affair and the mistress ended up pregnant. The only reason she knows about this is because the lady confessed to her. So, yeah, long story short - she was pissed and divorced the scumbag.

On to Boss. Well, it was pretty obvious that these two would have something romantic. Especially after they first met one another. I really liked the found family Boss had because they just seemed hilarious. Of course, things aren't all rainbows and sunshine because the drama comes.

The only thing I was really invested in was Jenn's new life. It seemed freaking awesome because she just did what she wanted. Plus, she deserved every second of it. Boss was the complete opposite of her ex. I loved the way he treated her and vice versa. It was really cute.

In the end, I'm jealous of her new place in Texas. I would love to come visit all the animals and see the food truck.

Quick read

This author writes great characters and this book was no different. I just feel like there was much not given details or things we as readers were just suppose to accept. Like why was she scared of ex-husband, her leaving the business to work friend, how the H and friends run town, the bad guys seemed random. Idk if it was me, but this story was hole-y. I did love the characters though and want more info on the other guys.

Sort of a little bit perplexed by this. On the whole, I don't tend to read MC based books... but this wasn't... not really, more like a band of brothers who happened to have weird nicknames.

The perplexing point? I really wasn't expecting the scene in the barn. Kind of took me by surprise... and didn't feel 'right' to me.

There was no conclusion to the story started, so am hoping that this is the series arc. Not even Ethan was resolved.

Very immature.

Let me first say that I love this author and read everything she releases.
These characters acted very immature, they're older characters 40s to 50s. This is MY age group so I feel like I can honestly say that it was embarrassing and cringe worthy reading about people my age acting like that. I absolutely hated the heroine and her friend, they acted and talked like a bunch of teenaged boys. Ugh.

Boss can't believe that when he moved to the small town of Tenillo, Texas he would get his record for killing a man is exonerated and he becomes the Chief of Police. Boss lives his life surrounded by his mC, they are from all over the place and come and go as they please, but they are an MC of men who all served time. When he is introduced to Jenn, he is definitely interested but Jenn is weary of getting involved with an alpha man, her words not his, after her ex did a number one her.

Settling into his new roll, Boss finds that there is a corruption in every corner of Tenillo and he is determined to get behind it. As Boss begins his new relationship with Jenn, he finds one of those new duties is protecting her from an unknown threat. Can they navigate to keep each other safe?

Loved this, there are several laugh out loud moments. Jenn is a hoot, this is an older woman/man romance and it was completely delightful. The animals of Jenn are hilarious. Terrific beginning to new series.

"The Time Served MC" series is written in tandem with the "Ares Infidel MC" series
by Ciara St. James. Although "The Time Served" series is written under the pen name Cee Bowerman. Which is how I didn't catch it. It was actually the authors note at the end that clued me in.

Due to this unusual circumstance, I'll list the reading order up to now and the one following this new adventure I'm taking with these authors in case you want to read along with me. I'll be staring this world again with the TSMC getting Boss' story and move forward.

In the meantime, let me leave you the thought of knot that I did intact enjoy this installment even though I read it out of order!

TSMC &AIMC World Reading Order:
(1) Tenillo Guardians- Time Served MC #02: Boss
(2) Tenillo Guardians- Ares Infidels MC #01: Sin's Enticement
(3) Tenillo Guardians- Time Served MC #03: Hook

This is not your typical MC. They don’t all live in one town or in one club house. They are scattered around the world and come together when they are needed. These men have all served time for a crime, all of them. Boss is the president of Time Served MC and lives in Tenillo, TX where the club started. He was a police officer before he served time and the town is in need of a new sheriff. He’s kind of strong armed into running for sheriff, but he doesn’t believe he will ever win. However, he should never underestimate an old guy that has been told he can’t accomplish something.

After leaving Seattle for parts unknown, Jennifer ends up in Tenillo, TX. She went from a corporate business owner to a small business owner and this one is her own and on her terms. She isn’t prepared for the danger that she finds in Tenillo, but she is also not prepared for the sexy new Sheriff either.

I loved this book. It’s full of action, sexy bikers, funny and sassy women and danger. The antics that Paula, Jennifer’s, new best-friend bring to this book are laugh out loud funny and entertaining. I love the characters and the story. It was a different kind of MC book, with the club members not being in one place but I thought it brought more to the story. I love the road names they have and the reason behind them. The first meeting between Jennifer and the guys that live out of town was great, especially, Preacher. I love the women in this book and the old geezers. I am so hoping that Connie moves to Texas with Jennifer. This book certainly left me wanting so much more. I give this story a 5-star review and am looking forward to more in the Time Served MC as well as the Ares Infidels MC to come.

Are you looking for a panty dropping, dirty talking, deep gravelly voiced older alpha man? If yes, look no further.
This is the 1st book in the new Tenillo Guardians series. This one is about Boss, the President of the Time Served MC written by Cee Bowerman. The Time Served MC is a group of men who did time and upon their release are taken under the wing of man called Pops who helps men who don’t have a support system to fall back when they are released. Boss meets and falls for a wicked bad assed woman named Jenn. I’d really like to find a man like Boss for my own. The 1st meeting between Boss and Jenn just about set me on fire; so hot!
Cee writes stories of wonderfully strong women who meet and fall for strong, protective alpha males and this one is no exception. This series is a bit darker than her other series but I loved it. There are some fantastic animals and many extremely funny scenes that had me laughing out loud.
A great start to the new series; next up is a book about the Ares Infidels MC will be written by Ciara St. James. The Ares Infidels MC and the Time Served MC are working together to clean up the town of Tenillo, TX. I can’t wait for all the rest of the stories and if I could; I’d live in Tenillo, TX.

Tyger Barnes ‘Boss’ at 49 is the new Tenillo Chief of Police, having served 10 years for second-degree murder (they didn’t have enough evidence to prosecute him for the other three murders they’d accused him of) or he’d still be serving time, in the small town where he’d been a cop. He’d been released without a family, home, or job.

“Good day, Chief,” Sin called out with a nod as I stood up from the table.
“Don’t encourage them.”
“You just threw down the gauntlet with some of the stubbornest men in the state, and you don’t think they’re going to figure out a way to prove you wrong? You’re sadly mistaken, Boss. You’re going to be wearing a badge come January 1st.”
“If that happens, I’ll be sure and deputize you, if I’m going down, I’m taking you with me.”

Jennifer at 44, had been married to Ethan until one day she was paid an unexpected visit by his paramour, home-wrecker Barbie. They’d met five years ago when he was a guest lecturer at her computer technology class at UW. He took her to dinner that night, and they’ve been together ever since.
“Connie, Farrah’s not applying for a job with the company; she’s here for the trophy wife position. She can’t have any coffee because she’s pregnant with Ethan’s baby.”

BOSS
“Mr. Barnes, it is the ruling of the court that because of your excellent standing as a member of the Tenillo community, that your conviction and subsequent time served in prison be expunged from your record.  I’ll be happy to welcome you as chief of police when you take office.”
I turned and glanced at the men in the row behind my chair in the courtroom and saw that every single one was smiling.  For months, they’d been harping about making me the top cop and had even gone so far as to start campaigning on my behalf.  Last month, I’d nearly wrecked my motorcycle when I glanced up and saw my face on a billboard with the caption, “Elect Tyger Barnes for Tenillo Chief of Police.”  It was then that I realized the old geezers were serious about this shit.
Last week, I’d been greeted at the gas pump outside a local convenience store by a man who said, “Good morning, Chief Barnes!”

Without lifting a finger, giving a single speech or doing a damn thing to help, I’d won the election the day before.  People expected me to take office at the beginning of next year, but that couldn’t happen with my record.
When I’d been contacted yesterday afternoon by one of my friends and club brothers, Captain, regarding today’s court proceedings, I’d gone along with it, thinking no judge in his right mind would expunge the record of a convicted murderer.  I’d get out of taking office on a technical default and then I’d be free and clear. Even my lawyer was an ex-con, for Christ’s sake.  Captain, or Auggie Brass as the rest of the world called him, earned his law degree while he served 20 years for murder, but that didn’t seem to bother any of the people he represented or the court we were standing in now.
Pop and his cronies had taken care of my felony record right along with my election.  I'd almost bet that they enjoyed the irony of having another murderer represent me today.

Jennifer inherited a Rooster when she purchased her house, an ornery Rooster named Ed Earl. For some reason, the rooster had fallen head over heels for her and liked to be right by her side all the time.  Luckily, her dog, the animal that was supposed to be her constant companion, didn’t give a shit that he’d been replaced.  If anything, he enjoyed the time off. Although, if I started taking Ed Earl out in the truck instead of Moe, there might be a problem.
Considering that the rooster was bigger than my beagle, I wasn’t positive who would come out the winner of that fight.
“He thinks he’s your pet, and you’re his human.”

Boss
“I was married. Happily married. We were high school sweethearts. It was just like in the movies: I was the football captain, and she was the cheerleader. We got married fresh out of high school and had our daughter not long after that. Seven months after that, actually.” Jenn started to say something, but I squeezed her hand just a bit, and she stopped so I could finish. “I was a cop and had been for 10 years. I was moving up in the ranks even though I wasn’t quite as easy to get along with as some of the men in my department. By easy to get along with, I mean I didn’t turn a blind eye when I saw something wrong going on. I was approached by another officer who offered me money to forget some details on a report I was writing. When I refused, he told me that if I knew what was good for me, I’d never testify in court. I told him to f*ck off. A month later, I was scheduled to testify against the man. While I was at work, three men broke into my house. They took my 16-year-old daughter and my wife hostage. From what I found out later, the men were ordered to take them away and keep them safe until after the trial. Without my testimony, the man would walk, and by taking my family, he knew I’d cooperate.”
“They didn’t keep them safe. They didn’t even take them out of our house. When I got off shift, I went home and found my wife and my daughter dead. They’d both been violated by more than one man and then beaten before they were shot. I laid my wife and my baby girl to rest side by side in the plots my wife and I had bought for ourselves. After that, I went to the officer who’d tried to stop me from testifying, and I beat him until he told me who was behind what happened to my family. A few days after that, I was arrested for putting the cop in the hospital. Before I could even hire a lawyer, they charged me with the murder of a man who had previous convictions of burglary and rape. He was one of the men that broke into my house. I pleaded no contest for a lesser sentence and was convicted and spent 10 years in prison. I got out five years ago and moved to Tenillo where Pop helped me adjust to life out in the world. He gave me a job, a home, and the will to keep going, just like he’s done for all the other men in my club.”

Jennifer
She has a double major in computer science and business, she’d returned to school and received a degree in business law because she didn’t trust the lawyer her husband had chosen for their company.

Ethan
They had a prenup that his mother insisted on because she always thought that I would turn out to be a ‘cheating whore’ - those were her exact words. Since he was the one that got caught cheating, that backfired on both of them, and I got everything in the divorce. He had to move in with his girlfriend. I guess, considering that the baby came out looking like another man, that stream has dried up. He’ll stay in town thinking I’ll come crawling back.”
“He’s that stupid?”
“He’s that stupid, but he’s also broke as a joke and knows I’ve got all his money,” I confirmed with a wry grin.
“If that’s the case, I’m going to tell my brothers about him and let them play with the new squeaky toy too,” Wrecker assured me before he started walking toward his patrol car. “You and your girl go back in the house and have a glass of wine. Boss will be here as soon as his meeting’s over, I’m sure.”

Paula (hysterically funny)
“I don’t believe that I’ve ever been in the presence of that much hotness or testosterone at one time, I think my ovaries released at least three eggs, which is crazy considering I had a hysterectomy four years ago.”
I burst out laughing and turned to look at my friend. She was staring down the road wistfully. She slowly turned her head and looked at me before she said, “I want one.”
“Pick one out, and I’ll see what I can do. There are more to choose from, just so you know. That was only four of Boss’s club brothers; there are four more.”
“I’d hate to choose and make one of them feel left out. I’ll just have one a day and two on Sundays. I’ll be a legend because I’ll be the first woman to die from an orgasm overdose, but what a way to f*cking go.”

Awesome new start

This was an amazing start to a new series.
Loved every character so of course I need more.
Really enjoyed Jenn's character. She's strong, independent and outspoken. Hey her and Paula together and woah.
Boss has suffered more heartache that would anyone to their knees and has gotten up and still lives the best life he can.
The lol moments were so funny you could pee your pants, the sex hot AF, the storyline brilliantly written.
Huge fan of this author.
I highly recommend this book.

Not an MC book! The most boring, tedious, irritating and stupidly categorised book ever. Because this is not an MC book! It's a police drama and corruption read. Seriously bored within just the first few pages, by a) the dumping of endless character names and information on all of them, even ones who don't actually seem to be in the book!

And by b) the tedious mind numbingly boring police drama about corruption in the police department, hidden cameras and microphones, and trying to figure out who out of the 116 men in the police department, the women and the cleaning staff etc could be dirty and on the take or not, and why etc. Boring in the extreme.

I don't read MC books for police drama rubbish. I could watch police drama tv shows if that's what I wanted. So tedious. And here's a list of the characters in the prologue alone, the prologue! Not even the first chapter, just in the prologue there was-

Pops, and Sin, pop's son (unnamed), Hook, Bug, Santa, Kitty, Julie, Myrna, Chelsea, Lorene, Rhonda, Stamp, Preacher, Harvey, Hal, Jack, Tom, Agguie, Connie, Jennifer, Harvey, Jack and Ben, and it goes on, there was- David, Jimmy Don, Judge MacAlister, Ethan, and let's not forget Ethan's mistress Farrah, or the dog Max.

And there are more characters dumped into the first chapter! And all of them had so much unimportant, tedious information given about them. Like Stamp, was a chef and food critic, who traveled the country, eating in restaurants and doing write ups about their food, and he gave cooking lessons using their kitchens and yada yada yada... And he isn't even in the book. Or at least not the part I managed to force myself to read through, which honestly wasn't much. Gave up before the end of chapter one. This is that boring!

I cannot believe how much I loved this book. When I saw the age of the H, I kind of turned my nose up at it. I don't know why, but I just couldn't see a story with a main character that old (not to mention being a biker and an ex-con) being all that good (fyi, I'm almost 20 years older). I checked a couple of reviews and saw that even the "unbiased" ARC readers loved it, so I jumped in. I really enjoyed the author's writing style and I plan on continuing the series. I see that this is intertwined with the Aries Infidels MC series by Ciara St James. Thank you to the person responsible for listing out the correct reading order of the Tenillo Guardians books.

It may be unfair to rate a book I barely started, but I’m going to do it anyway to remind myself in the future not to pick this book up again. I got as far as page 33 and had to lay it down. It’s already way too fake to continue. No biker would be a sheriff, and no town would hire a sheriff that served 10 years in prison for murder.
The heroine character was also a bit over the top and unbelievable.
Not going to waste my time on this one.

Enjoyable

I liked this book, the characters were really interesting. The main characters were relatable and the secondary ones supported the story very well.

I was laughing a bunch while reading this.
It was also great that the MC wasn't all goody two-shoes like I thought they might be from the description.
All in all it was enjoyable.

OMG! Awesome freaking start to a darker-themed, LOL MC series!!

I loved this freaking story! Jennifer and Boss, along with his brothers in the MCs and her two friends, kept me entertained and immersed in the story from the beginning. I laughed until I cried in a couple of scenes. I haven’t read anything from Cee Bowerman, but the rest of this series just went to the top of my TBR. The premise of this MC is wonderful and I love the idea that is could actually happen irl.

This is the start of a series, so obviously it is a stand-alone read. There might be others that crossover, but they are not required before reading. There are some graphic scenes with violence and other potential trigger warnings, so examples are listed below for sensitive readers.

⛔️ Contains references to, or scenes detailing, subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some, including: adult language; derogatory terms; mental health challenges; steamy adult intimate scenes with dominance, submission, restraints, “bottom” play, etc.; violence stereotypical of the genre such as kidnapping, abduction, murder, death, torture, assault, fighting, betrayal, coercion, blackmail, threats, subterfuge, money laundering, gun running, cheating, prostitution, human trafficking, mafia / cartels, drug use, drug manufacturing, drug distribution, as well as the mental, physical and sexual abuse of females and children, etc.

** Caution: Contains scenes with reference to, or detailed graphic violence against females that fit into the storyline, but may be a trigger for some **

There are a few grammatical issues but they are minimal and primarily comprised of incorrect word choice / tense, typos, punctuation issues (I.e. used a “ instead of ‘), missed words and extra inserted words / characters (i.e. inserted a comma after a period at the end of a sentence). I am mentioning these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.

In this story, Jennifer is relocating to another area to get away from the company she built with her cheating ex-husband. She ends up moving to Tenillo, Texas, purchasing a small farm, and collecting her own personal petting zoo. Jennifer starts up a food truck selling various baked goods and gourmet coffee.

Boss is an ex-con that was convicted of murder and he served a little over 10 years before he was released on parole and taken in by Pop. Pop started a MC for men that had served time, but with extenuating circumstances. His goal was to provide a structured environment for them to get back on their feet and time to adjust to life back on the outside.

Since Boss was an ex-cop, the geezers as they were affectionately called, suggested that Boss run for sheriff after the current one retired. He jokingly reminded them he couldn’t since he was an ex-con, but he would do it if he could. So before he knows it, his record has been expunged, he has been elected and sworn into office.

On his first day he noticed some strange things and that there were some people that may not be able to be trusted. Fortunately he knows some brothers that has his back, but it won’t be quick. Then one day while attending an event downtown, he meets a woman operating a food truck that sets his blood on fire. She looks at him with fire in her eyes until she finds out he is a cop … but he hopes he can change her mind … (loved the dialogue that he used to convince her 🔥💕🔥)

So I just read the fuck out of this book, and I was totally entertained. I’m surprised at how funny it got, because the first hundred or so pages were just kind of normal/not that funny. This was my first read by this author, and I think maybe I should have started with the other series about the Ares Infidels MC
***** wait a second, Ares Infidels is by a different author? I’m confused. *****
because I didn’t really connect with the characters at first. This is book 1 of this series so I thought it was ok, but apparently even though it’s kind of a spin off it’s still better read in a certain order.
Anyway, I still really liked this and (after the iffy beginning) was able to get into the plot no problem.

Jenn and Paula cracked me up. I absolutely adored that friendship and how fucking badass the both of them are. I love when FMCs can take care of their own shit and aren’t goody-goody, self-righteous, or judgmental. Boss was the typical growly alpha seen in most MC books, not too unique, but I loved his brothers and friends and how they all took care of each other and Pop. I did love how Boss is a cat guy (+) though, and how he spoke with all the animals in the book. It totally made him hotter. I don’t think I’ve read any other MC/biker books with so many animals in them actually (other than maybe one dog or cat,) and I loved it.

Ok, now let’s talk about the cover. Absolutely atrocious. Just terrible. Terrible photo, super unsexy “model” man, terrible styling, terrible design, typeface, everything. I’m usually not a fan of the typical shirtless greasy ripped muscle torsos on romance/erotica covers, but I actually think it would be better to have one of those rather than this… Normal guy that doesn’t look hot from behind. I mean I know the reality of motorcycle clubs and bikers is FAR from what romance/erotica presents, but COME ON. I don’t read this shit for realism. I read it for an ESCAPE from realism. And, of course, the explicit sex. Which is hard (and not in the good way) to get into when I have to block out the bad cover.

So zero stars for the cover. But even though I will totally judge the fuck out of a book’s cover, I don’t let it affect my rating.

I am definitely going to read more of this series but try to mentally block out the covers, which are ALL BAD. I looked them up. The rest are even worse than this one.

I liked this book because of the characters. The storyline is satisfactory, not great, but not bad either. But wow! The characters make this book.

The eponymous Boss is a bad boy who’s been exonerated but never loses his bad boy ways even though he has been elected the chief of police. Pop is his mentor, and the mentor of a great many men and women who have served their time and need a way to reintegrate into a society that doesn’t really believe in second chances. Jennifer, our heroine, comes with a truckload of troubles, of course…but…she is quite a character herself and instantly likeable. Secondary characters abound and every one of them is a gem. They are more than backdrop scenery: they bring meaning and reality into the plot. They include Chef (who isn’t), Stamp (who is…a chef), Preacher (who is SO outlandishly funny), Captain (we’re never told of what), Hook (a veterinarian), Paula (Jennifer’s friend), and many others, all entertaining.

Unfortunately, we get too many errors with this very good book. For example, what’s happening with prepositions? Here’s one instance from many: “…Ed Earl turned toward me and hurried my direction.” Did the direction need to be hurried along? Probably not…Ed Earl might have “…hurried IN my direction.”
“You know I”d been checked out….” Such a small thing, funny even, double quotation marks instead of single to indicate a contraction. It’s hard to make this kind of mistake these days, word processing software being what it is.
“Duck tape” is used several times; I am going to assume it’s an alternate spelling of duct tape or maybe it’s cotton tape or perhaps it’s the ShurTech brand of tape? I dunno….
“…myriad of farm animals….” It’s “…myriad animals….” No preposition needed or wanted.
“…as they looked everywhere but me….” Big problem with what the writer might mean here. Is it that they’ve looked everywhere but she has not? Is it that they’ve looked everywhere but not for her? Is it that they looked everywhere but AT her? Again…I dunno….

The book is good. I miss the chapter headers where various characters are quoted, but that’s just a small loss. Boss is an excellent read: I loved it…can’t wait to read more in the Tenillo guardians saga(s).

Boss is book one in the new series: Tenillo Guardians TSMC by Cee Bowerman and boy is it a great story. We’re introduced to Boss a man who has done his time and is trying to get on with his life being the President of the Time Served MC and the newly appointed Sherriff of the small town of Tenillo, but not everything is what it seems in town and it is certainly not smelling of roses. Enter Jennifer, a woman who is escaping her past and looking towards her future with her menagerie of animals and new business, she isn’t looking for a man, until Boss sets his sights on her and then everything is thrown out of the window.

This was a great MC read (which was different from other MC books) with older characters, a great storyline, some action and some sassy and strong women. I loved the relationship that Jenn not only had with Boss, but also with his men. She treated them all as equals and could banter with them like the best of them. Her relationship with her best friend Paula was hilarious and laugh aloud at times.

The relationships are deep in this book. We see the life that Boss and his other MC men have made from themselves after spending time behind bars (we only get snippets of backstories, so I’m hoping that every character gets a book!) as well as what it feels like to start a new relationship when you’ve already been in one previously for a number of years. I loved that there were sweet times in this book as well as times of action, where characters were put into precarious situations and had the help and backing of others to get them out.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait for more. It has definitely made me go and look at Ms. Bowerman’s backlist to see what else I need to read!

So I blew my way through all the series this author has in Rojo TX, 3-4 conjoined ones, which meant it was time to move on to this one. I get to the end and find this series is partnered with another author and they will be releasing a book 1 a month going back and forth. I find I'm intrigued, I liked what I saw of the Ares Infidels and look forward to seeing how this will work between these two interconnected series by different authors.

I found myself laughing as this one opened up, both with what was happening with Jenn and Boss. Jenn got her eyes opened and did what she could to change her life for the better, while Boss was getting railroaded by the old men, into doing something he never thought possible. I was surprised that the old men managed to get rid of all the hurdles so that Boss could become Sheriff.

Boss sure walked into a mess and I was glad that he realized it and started to figure out how to clean it up. With the help from the Ares guys and his brothers they did a great job.

Jenn was starting her own life in Tenillo, getting her food truck up and going. I loved how she flirted with Pop and how gobsmacked she was with Boss, especially after he laid out things for her and gave her 3 choices. She definitely choice the right one!

I liked how Boss's past didn't bother Jenn, or at least not in the way Boss thought it might. Even better was how she accepted all of Boss's brother's and welcomed them into her house and did whatever was needed. These two are a great match! I look forward to reading more in these two series.

Boss can boss me around!
Boss: Time Served MC Book 1 (Tenillo Guardians TSMC) by Cee Bowerman is a very well written romance with so many intriguing elements! Military, two MCs, ex cons turned heros, law enforcement, animal menagerie, strong women and palpable chemistry. Not to mention the meddling male geriatric crowd that seems to make things happen no matter what anyone wants. It’s quite comical on one level yet the relationships are deep and meaningful.
Boss and Jenn just might make your kindle/digital reader device spontaneously combust! Boss is a dream come true silver fox and Jenn is a sexy real woman who has come into herself beautifully and to the benefit of herself and Boss. There’s something to be said about a confident woman in her 40’s! Sweet, sexy and adventurous, as well as smart, confident and brave. Add in Boss as a confident, mature, alpha? Holy smokes and yes please! Absolute entertainment in every way.
The plot, so much is going on, is highly engaging and attention getting. While all the problems are not solved in Book 1, it’s clear to any reader there’s plenty to come. This author will not leave the reader hanging.
Overall, I found this book, the first I’ve read by this author, engaging and entertaining with tons of amazing characters that are sure to make this series and any others related, spectacular MC romances.
I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.

Well this was a surprising little gem! I’m not even sure how I found it, I think it was reviewed somewhere on socials. And normally I stay away from that but I’m glad I read it!

First it appears this series is intertwined with another series by another Author. You start with this one then read the first of the other series and so on and so forth. It keeps the “true” timeline and story.

And I loved the fact the MC’s are older. Have life experience (whether good or bad) behind them. And the fact he’s a cop but MC President?! Yeah it sounded cheesy AF to me too when I started reading it.. but it kind of works!

The only thing I found a little over done was the way she treated her ex. Now before you go down that path and crucify me for saying that- I just mean that he was a complete dick and deserved everything he got. How we she came across as a bully and I just don’t think she should have stooped that low. Yes, be angry and whatever but she started just laughing and teasing him and it was more bully like than anything else. That’s my only gripe.

Otherwise these two MC’s were well suited.

There is a lot going on with the two clubs combing and overlapping and the first of the series being that introduces them all was a little full on. But I’ll continue. I have to say too that normally I can’t stand insta love .. but this one is done well that I didn’t realise it was until the end..

The last straw for exec Jenn McCool is her husband’s pregnant girlfriend coming to her office. Within weeks’ Jenn’s cut her now ex out of her life, his finances, packed up her dog and hit the road to who knows where and ends up in Tenillo, where she has a yard full of animals and a successful food truck specializing in coffees and baked goods.

Ex-con, MC Prez Tyger ‘Boss’ Barnes didn’t take his mentor’s powerful old guard crew seriously when they mused over the corruption and crime in their tiny town, declaring Boss should be police chief. Little did Boss know how serious they were until he won handily. Partnering with a second club who uncle was in the old guard crew, they aim their sights at corruption.

While Jenn wasn’t interested in an alpha male invading her life, Boss easily shatters her defenses. Just as their relationship gets started, Jenn’s targeted by a group that has plans for other people’s small businesses, Boss’ mentor is shot and fragile as the ex thinks Jenn ex-ed him by accident and Boss has enough time to root out a bit of corruption.

This new to me author offered a ‘just go with it’ intro followed by a tad out of the ordinary storyline with great characters, a few laughs and an outing with equally nice doses of action romance and drama with a dash of mystery and suspense, missed together for an enjoyable read.
