Love these books to help me plan my National Park trips each year! They give great detailed information on hiking. This helps me determine the hikes best for my group and helps us avoid the crowds!
If you are preparing for, or even considering a trip to Glacier National Park, you will find this definitive guidebook indispensable.
As a retiree I spend half my time on the road and on our public lands. My passion is finding magnificent places to visit and photographing them. I am a voracious reader of “guidebooks” and this may be the best I’ve read. I find, these days, that navigating busy and overcrowded public lands to be a challenge – to say the least. The best way to deal with these challenges is to come fully prepared by connecting with an expert before you go. At Glacier National Park – Becky Lomax is that expert. Becky considers Glacier to be her, “year round sanctuary” and has spent her lifetime hiking , climbing and exploring in Glacier National Park. Who better to help? I love this book and I love her guidance and suggestions.
The photos and maps are excellent and will prepare one for a magnificent time in the Park. I found the information on hiking particularly valuable. In my previous trips to Glacier how I wish I had such thorough and helpful descriptions! I also found the author to offer information on areas I hadn’t previously considered exploring. In fact, it answers questions I wouldn’t have thought to ask and has expanded my view of what to see and do in Glacier immeasurably. Further, the author emphasizes recreating responsibly – a key to keeping these sacred and sublime places sacred.
I believe that, now more than ever before, I will be fully prepared on my next visit – from initial planning to revisions of that plan and making spontaneous choices while I’m there. I’ll know where to camp, which hikes to hike, which sights to see, and which scenic drives to explore. When I’m there it won’t be far out of reach. This fine book covers it all and I’m grateful to have it. Highly, highly recommended.
I highly recommend this travel guide book for Glacier National Park and more. Seriously, helped my husband and I while visiting in and outside the park. The only thing to keep in mind is that not all trails are open due to Grizzly bear activity or snow. Lastly, this park is super popular so read the sections on beating the crowds at the hot spots and get a head start by waking up early in the mornings.
