With a kingdom to rebuild, Thargodén must call on all his allies to commence the Restoration. With his army shattered and his people slowly coming to terms with the errors of the past, trust must be earned.
But the Evergreen Wood calls to Fel’annár and he wonders if the ultimate nature of his duty to Aria is connected to that forbidden place. The only way to find out is to venture inside.
After the Battle of Brothers, Fel'annár is a commander by name, but when a familiar enemy turns its attention on the Great Forest, the new Warlord must face his greatest challenge. As the king’s new army rides north to meet the Nimuan, under the continuing command of Pan'assár, Fel’annár journeys to his ancestral home and beyond. But he finds much more than war.
Family discovered, old friends returned, an ever-evolving ability that may prove pivotal in the war to come.
But can he hold the warriors together, united under Pan’assár? Can he rise to leadership in the face of horror and heartbreak? Will he come to understand the true nature of his duty and rise the Silvan commander he was born to be?
I read Tolkien and Hobb. I read Robert Jordan and Will Wight. I read all those classic fantasy books and when there was nothing left to read, I wrote my own stories, the ones I wanted to read but couldn't find.
I love epic fantasy. The battles, the creatures, the riveting stories and sweeping worlds. But I love the characters just as much. I love the intrigue, the politics, the strategy and the philosophy behind the magic systems. I love imaginary worlds that make sense, and I love characters that think logically.
I love exploring the depths of the warrior mindset. I love the emotions that life-changing events bring about, and if I can make my readers feel all those things, then that is what I most love about writing.
I hope you will read my stories and enjoy them, and if you do, I would love to hear from you.
I can't express just how much I love this incredible series. RK has continued a spellbinding read that only continues to get better as it brilliantly unfolds. This saga is sure to become a classic for generations to come in the world of high fantasy. The Elven people must come together in spite of their political differences to fight a war that threatens their race's very existence. So many questions outline so much at stake. Will the young reluctant hero and his comrades be able to fulfill a promise that was predestined upon his birth to unite a divided people and save the elven race? Ruth unfurls a tapestry of words that flow like poetry on the reader. I have missed these characters since the last book and I have only grown to love and care about them all the more in this one.
This was so freaking amazing! Lander’s world building and the amount of detail she provides is brilliant. I can’t get enough of it or the characters. They are all wonderful. There was a lot of character growth for Prince Rinon. I enjoyed getting to finally know him compared to what we got in the other books. I’ve come to love him. I only have two complaints and that is, I didn’t get nearly enough Handir as I would have liked. I desperately need more of him in the final installment. I love him more than any other character in the series. My second complaint is Felannar and his constant injuries and dizzy spells. His constant need of attention. I get that he’s the main character of the story but everyone fussing over him continuously grinds my gears. Let’s give some of that love to the other characters!
I was absolutely devastated and cried like a baby over Pan’assar and Galadan. As much as I hated it, I just knew we were going to lose Pan and I was cringing the whole time when it happened. I swear my heart was in my throat even as my kids were looking at me like I was crazy as I cried 😭😂 Then I got irritated when once we again, we have to worry and care for Felannar as we grieve those two big deaths. I do love Felannar! I just get annoyed 🤷🏻♀️
With that horrifying cliffhanger with Rinon and Sorei and what they are faced with in the city, I need the next book and ASAP! I am terrified for all of them, especially with most of those warriors still gone. This is 5 stars for me even with my complaints. I really did love it.
P.S. I need more Handir!

This book is so epic and awesome! It is quite the feat for an audiobook that is nearly 30 hours long to have me at the edge of my seat through its entirety! There is intrigue and family bonding and tension and the return of a favorite character and an AMAZING ending battle! I might have shed a few tears at the end.
Now how am I going to wait until the next book releases?????
Wow wow wow. This is one of the best books I have ever read. It takes you on a roller coaster of emotion. It makes you laugh, cry and every emotion in between. I would highly recommend this book to anybody who loves a GREAT storyline and a marvellous read
The much anticipated fifth installment in the silvan series has left me enthralled, from beginning to the very end, living the intense highs and the heart rendering lows as our warrior company fight for all their people and lands, against an evil enemy hell bent on destroying everything. I've fought along side the company, grieved with them at their losses. I can only follow where they will lead me on their next journey, bring it Ruth.
Yet another truly amazing read! This story lingers with me and I wish it could go on for ten more books. I wouldn’t get bored even if the characters just sat around talking. 😊
The Silvan learns the harsh lessons of command. Pain of victory.
Their threat surprises then with atrocity and innocent torturing to slow down the army. The Three Sisters come to the rescue to help save the day. Plans made to return home to yet another surprise.
5 stars is not enough. Rarely do I find a series that I enjoy as much as I am enjoying The Silvan. I have lost a lot of sleep and gone to work a tired wreck many days this week... Worth it!!!
This installment was action packed and quite a lot happened between individual characters and groups of people/beings. The story definitely wasn't boring. However, I thought this was the end of the series and felt disappointed when there were unresolved plot lines. That's on me. LOL.
I'm not sure if I will finish out the series. Even with all the action, I wasn't very engaged, evidenced by the long period of time (for me, anyway) that it took for me to finish this. It's definitely more a lack of chemistry between the book and me. If you love elves and all that, you might enjoy this series.
I believe this is the best book of the series so far, very hard to put down and ran through a box of tissues with the gamete of emotions it put me through. Reading this book is a luscious visual in my minds eye that definitely takes me and makes me feel very much a part of this ongoing saga that I don't want to end anytime soon. Definitely looking forward to volume 6.
I am stunned....the 5th book in the Silvan series written by RK Lander is truly amazing....I don’t have the words to describe how I feel. It was both joyous and heartbreaking at the same time. I believe outside of book 1, this is truly the best of all the books so far in the series....I say that because I fell in love with the story in book one. I cannot recommend this book and series enough if you truly enjoy epic fantasy!
Had me hooked from begin in to end it's a book that kept on giving I've said it before and will say it again this series needs to become a film so good couldn't put it down can not wait for the next instalment
I have had the pleasure of reading the whole series! Each book gets you more invested in the characters of this great story. It was so engrossing, the story, the characters how their lives intertwined that by the end it had me crying for some of their stories. What a ride!
Twist and turns, brutal battles. Some characters leave and new ones arrive and at the end the story continues. How long before the Silvan returns for the final time.
This series is one of the most well written, intriguing, funny, engrossing series I have read. Have you ever heard "I can smell the color Blue"? Well, R. K. Lander blends incredibly detailed - but never boring - scenes together so flawlessly it's like you can Smell the color blue. I'm anxiously (definitely not patiently 😉) waiting for the nextbook.
I thoroughly enjoyed the plot, subplots, each and every character, the pace and excitement of the story as it unwound. Seemed around each corner something…someone had a surprise that was unexpected that added tension and depth. One of the best reads I have had in years!
It definitely left me wanting to know more. Following the Silvan throughout the struggle against the different sects of elves and the war against the Sand Lord's. How the Silvan handles the responsibilities thrust on himself both spiritually and physically
If you’re following this series you need to set aside three or four days (it’s 650 pages and you’ll need food and drink, sleep optional) and read it in large chunks. You’ll know when you can pause. Do not embark on the final hundred pages unless you can finish the book.
This is story telling of the highest order. The characters we’ve come to know in the course of the series continue to grow and new parts of this world are revealed. The author was in tears as she wrote it and I think I had something in my eye several times in the course of the book. Highly recommended and I can’t wait for the next book.
Kindle or somewhere said this was the conclusion but its not. Only cons I have is that its bit too emotional. And repeats things a bit or draws them out (emotionally) Obviously this is what you get when you read female authors, and a big reason why stuck with the series was because its admittedly much less emotional / drama and more appealing to guys than most books by female authors that I've tried reading. I did very much enjoy the books. Hmhm, and my grief of getting misty eyed too much is simply because I don't like getting misty eyed, but some is fine.
Okay. First of all, this really is two books. As a single release, it's an incredibly generous gift and a much appreciated respite during the pandemic.
This release just kind of blew me away and left me floating back to earth slowly. An intricate, fascinating storyline. World building , story telling, and character creation beyond well done. Excellent writing craft. It's going to be hard to see this end with the sixth book. Kind of like the last bite of a favorite desert?
Unbelievable because this 4th book not only sustains the story of the first three but surpasses it in storytelling. And that’s what makes it so satisfying. The characters are true to themselves, yet growing and changing in ways we would not expect yet are perfectly in line to who they are. The horrors of the war are told but in a way that does not devastate the reader. I have come to love these characters as much as I love Tolkien’s. If you want an excellent read, read this series. I can’t wait for the next book! Thank you! Read this series!
This book is fantastic. It's been a long time since I've had such a visceral experience from a novel. I was swept away on the journey with the company. I couldn't help loving or hating the characters. I felt so strongly about them. I grieved along with the characters, felt their friendship, love, hatred, joy, and even prejudices. I laughed and cried so hard that I got a headache. Twice. This journey left me with a great longing for more of the characters that I fell in love with and even the ones I came to hate. Great job R. K. Landers. Thank you so much for such an amazing story.
If you are a fan of high fantasy, READ THIS SERIES. I don’t have words to explain how amazing these books are. I am a constant bookworm and when anyone asks what my favorite book is, I point them to this series.
The author took things to another level with this fifth book in the series. I cried so many tears, both happy and sad, while reading this latest installment. I look forward to reading her books for a very long time.
