About the author

D.S. “Dee” Wrights was born 29th March 1980 in Germany. Her name is a pen name, and she describes writing as her passion and calling. Dee speaks three languages fluently, English, German and Dutch, and some other rudimentary.
Although she started writing at an early age and two short stories were published during high school, one as a school project and one in a regional newsletter – Dee never dared of thinking to pursue a writing career. Until she started writing fanfiction and readers encouraged her to publish The Beast And Me as an ebook in May 2014.
Dee worked at a publishing house at which she earned insight into the work, process, and production of publishing books. That was the reason why she chose to do all the work herself, apart from proofreading.
When talking about her novels, Dee explains that she loves to dive into the mindset of different characters, especially those of villains and anti-heroes. However, in addition to that, she enjoys writing women who start off as weak and grow through their experiences in her books and end up being their own hero.

I need more! Because of the way the book ended, I am going to need a 3rd book please! I was completely blown away by all the secrets, lies and deceptions that had taken place. Some of this I did not see coming and I definitely did not see the end of the story as it happened. I do have to say that I am a little disappointed in Charlotte and some of her actions towards the end of the book. What she chose to do, she knew what she was doing and what happened to Matt was out of his control. I want to say karma caught up with her with the surprise ending, but Charlotte isn’t the only one it affects. I have questions that maybe could be answered in a follow up book!!! Like, did Anderson know all along about Cassidy? Great story, with twists and turns, lies, betrayal, secrets, revelations, justice and revenge. Fingers crossed there is a book 3!!! When I started this book, I didn't realize that it is the second book. I really like the fact that the female is the serial killer and the male was the cop. After reading the first book, I loved the dynamic between Charlotte and Matt, but this book did not focus on their relationship as much. It focuses on the aftermath of the first book and how Charlotte and Matt deal with what has happened. With the way the ending is written I am not sure if there will be a third, but I would love to see where they go from all of the events that take place in this story. If you are looking for a different take on the erotic thriller then you should check out both Blood and Paint.

i should have dnf’d this but oh well. this truly perplexed me, cause it was good but fucking terrible. the non HEA didn’t bother me cause i didn’t give a fuck cause truly this was a mess but at the same time 2 ⭐️ might be a little harsh

I remember very clearly what I thought every morning when I looked at myself.
I'm Charlotte O'Callaghan, and I'm a serial killer.

Okay, so...funny story. I was browsing through my kindle at 2 am in the morning (insomnia is great that way😏) and I came across this book. I started reading it......just like that.
And goddamnit I was HOOKED!! It was chilling and creepy with this apathetic aura in the writing style but it was full of amazing plot twists, relationship drama at high intensity, delicious sex and last but not the least ...my fav......dry, dark humour. Plus a serial killer in the mix always ups the ante for amazing ;)


I've never seen him this emotional before. Nor have I ever been so turned on by it.
My shrink already explained it to me, but I didn't believe him: I love everything that is broken, preferably even more broken than I am. In addition, unfortunately, everything that society sees as wrong triggers arousal in me.


I finished it and I was so pleased. I loved the characters, the story and the writing style, so naturally I went to stalk the author so that I could read more of her work.

It was then I found that it's the 2nd book in a series!!!

*Gasp* okay, I'll stop being overdramatic about my foolishness and lack of research before starting a book lol ......but one thing I do want to mention is that I didn't feel like I was missing anything when I read this book ....even though I was reading from the mid of a series. And that is a big plus point towards this author and her way of presenting a story.


Other than all of that, there's one more thing I loved about this book. When we hear "romance novel about a serial killer and a cop" ....what always comes to mind is the Mindfuck series. And let's be honest, it's almost impossible to come even near the beauty that was that story, right?!

However....this story was also about a serial killer and a cop but it rocked! I don't even need to compare the two books because both had their unique charms and it was 😍✨

Where mindfuck is intense and gory with skewed morals....Paint was a creepy mindfuck with the morals bar tipping mostly towards the dissipating side. 😈

All in all, I loved it and definitely recommend it to people who love dark romance and some spice in the bed ;)

PS- I cut a half star from my rating cuz this author needs an editor...pronto. So beware of that if you are a nazi in that arena lol xx.

This book follows Blood, which must be first. I enjoyed the first book, and loved this one. The author has left Blood with an ending which would leave readers happy enough if they wanted to stop there. In this book, the plot has heated up-lies, deceptions and secrets abound. I was hoping I was right in guessing a couple of plot points but was surprised by a couple of others. The courtship stage has worn off and the complexity of the characters has emerged. Charlotte is both stifled and invigorated. The author’s writing style was clear & descriptive and I was caught up in her storytelling. I need a part three to tell me about Matt & Donovan. I still have questions!

I have always loved Charlotte. Although her actions are not acceptable in society. She just seeks the justice, she feels failed her.
A truly brilliant read. D. S. Wrights never fails to intrigue me with her stories. There is always a curveball, I never see it coming. Not only did I not see this. It whacked me between the eyes. Then whacked me again.
Then she ends it. Not how you think she will.
Oh she is a true and unequivocal genius.

Was für eine grandiose Fortsetzung!!! Charlottes Geschichte geht weiter, und das mit noch mehr Geheimnissen, düsteren Gedanken und absolut spannenden Wendungen. Band 1 war schon sehr genial geschrieben, aber hier hat sich D.S. Wrights echt nochmals selbst übertroffen.
Charlotte kämpft mit ihrer Abstinenz, mit ihren Gefühlen und Emotionen. Matt kehrt ins Revier zurück, denn vor Charlottes Galerie wird eine Tote gefunden... Absolut genial geschrieben, extreme Wendungen in der Geschichte, ich wurde hier mehrmals sprachlos zurück gelassen. Und das geniale Ende - sowas von düster, und das geilste dran - es lässt alles offen, also vielleicht vielleicht lesen wir schon bald wieder von Charlotte..

Revelations 5 stars. - Book 2 has more dialogue than Book 1. It is also full of action and revelations. Some mysteries are solved. Beware, there is cheating. Who will Charlotte pick? Very exciting things are happening. It was hard to stop reading. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily chose to review it.

MEINE MEINUNG:
Es handelt sich hier um den zweiten Band der "BLOOD"-Dilogie.

Matthew ist an Charlottes Seite und auch ihr Security Donovan ist stets an ihrer Seite.

Charlotte ist regelrecht in ein Loch gefallen, da ihre Schuldgefühle so stark sind und sie gerade einfach nicht weiß was richtig und was falsch ist.

Als plötzlich ein weiterer Mord passiert, der zwar Parallelen mit den vorherigen Morden hat, aber eben doch anders ist, kommen sowohl Matthew als auch Charlotte ins Grübeln und weitere Geheimnisse kommen Stück für Stück ans Tageslicht.

Der Schreibstil war angenehm und spannend, so dass ich das Buch gar nicht aus der Hand legen konnte und wollte.

Das Ende war für mich unerwartet, überraschend und irgendwie fehlt mir da aber auch was...

Ich kann mir ein Wiedersehen mit Charlotte, Donovan, Matthew und auch Anderson sehr gut vorstellen!

What ??

I read the first book Blood and loved it , so I was very excited for the sequel. I was hoping for some more murder from Charlotte and how Matt would reacted and things like that .

What I got was a clusterfuck of bs.

Now that might sound harsh, but I didn't hate the book.
I just don't get it.
I understand the events , but I have no idea how I'm supposed to react or feel. I have no clue what the author was trying to say or express upon the reader.

The pacing felt weird to me, there are some continuity errors and some things that are left unexplained that are detrimental to the narrative.

I don't know of there is a third book or if one is coming, but either way I probably won't read it.

I would recommend reading book #1 Blood, but id leave it at that.

I loved reading this book's predecessor and desperately wanted to hear more of Charlotte and Matt's story but I didn't feel that the second book lived up to the first. I felt that the story was rushed and could have been built upon much more, expanding upon the characters' backstories. If it were expanded and more detail drawn out then Paint would have the potential to become brilliant. Well, aside from the shocker of a cliffhanger! That one was just cruel!

Well, That was that

Loved Blood, could not put it down. Paint took some time but I did like the twist it took. The ending….abrupt, and had me saying “What”!? Would I like to see a continuation? Yes, but No. Paint ended abruptly, but it ended, in a way I may not like, but I can see happening.

I love it when an author gets the chemistry between the main characters correct, but most importantly, keeps them dark throughout the book. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Um die Antwort auf den letzten Satz im Buch gleich vorneweg zu nehmen: Ja , ich wünsche mir eine Fortsetzung:)

Dieses Buch hat mich überzeugt, es ist so ungewöhnlich, dass es dem Leser lange im Gedächtnis bleiben wird. Zum besseren Verständnis empfehle ich Teil eins unbedingt zu kennen. Charlotte ist jetzt mit Matt zusammen und sie versucht aus ihrem dunklen Tal herauszukommen. Plötzlich geschieht ein weiterer Mord, und die Ereignisse überschlagen sich. Viele Zusammenhänge aus Band eins werden aufgeklärt und bringen Licht in Charlottes düsteres Leben. Aber auch erneute Dunkelheit, denn alle Beteiligten sind in Gefahr und involviert. Die Wendungen fand ich klasse und super spannend. Genauso wie ich die Protagonisten richtig klasse fand. Dieses Buch ist ungewöhnlich, weil die Düsternis aus dem Inneren der Protagonisten kommt, anders als z. B. bei den in diesem Genre stark vertretenen Mafia - Romance Büchern, ist dieses Buch sehr leuchtend hell um die Dunkelheit, da sie nur einen kleinen , aber essenziellen Teil eines Charakters ausmacht und nicht an irgendeine mafiöse Struktur gebunden ist. Und die Gegensätze ziehen sich sehr stark an, denn auch Matt ist ein düsterer Charakter, der sich aber an der komplett anderen Seite des Spektrums bewegt, nämlich der Seite der Judikative. Also der echten, Judikative aufseiten der Gesetzeshüter. Diese Diskrepanz zu Charlotte bringt dem Buch eine unglaublich hohe Bandbreite an Emotionen , nicht nur für die Protagonisten, sondern auch für den Leser. Ich habe mich während des Lesens oft gefragt:" Wie würde ich handeln" Und ja ich gebe offen zu, ich finde Charlottes "Hobby" sehr reizvoll, hat nicht jeder Mensch schon mal daran gedacht, dass Gesetz in die eigenen Hände zu nehmen, um unliebsame Feinde aus dem Weg zu räumen ? Also ich schon... Und diese Realitätsnähe, wenn sie auch nur in Gedanken existiert fand ich nicht nur extrem spannend, sondern auch tja... Sympathisch.
Zum Ende hin bekommt das Buch mit Donovans Beteiligung noch mal einen extra Adrenalinkick, den ich sehr genossen habe, denn nicht nur die Geschichte die das Buch erzählt ist ungewöhnlich, auch die erotischen Momente sind es. Getragen von dunklen und hellen Gedanken ist Charlotte da sehr auf beide Männer in ihrem Leben angewiesen, und das Ende gleicht einem offenen Showdown..

Fazit: Wer Lust hat auf ein Buch , das eine ganz besondere Geschichte erzählt und mit wunderschön emotionalem Schreibstil zwei Charaktere beschreibt, die Licht und Dunkel in sich vereinen , wie kaum ein anderes Pärchen, dem sei dieses Buch wärmstens ans Herz gelegt.

Klare Leseempfehlung.

„Paint: Gefährliche Geheimnisse“ von D. S. Wrights setzt die ungewöhnliche Lovestory aus „Blood“ fort.
Charlotte ist eine Serienkillerin, der durch ihren Ziehvater die Möglichkeit zum straffreien Ausstieg gegeben wurde. Aber dieser Ausstieg hat seinen Preis, an dem Charlotte schwer zu knabbern hat. Matt versucht sein Bestes, Charlotte zu unterstützen, aber auch er selbst leidet darunter, seinen Job als Polizist nicht mehr ausüben zu können. Zum Entsetzen der beiden wird genau an Charlottes Geburtstag eine neue Leiche vor ihrer Galerie abgelegt. Das Opfer wäre die Nächste auf ihrer Liste gewesen und auch die übrigen Umstände passen fast perfekt zu Charlottes bisherigem Vorgehen.

Nach dem Ende des ersten Bandes blieben einige Fragen offen, die nun zum Teil beantwortet werden. Charlotte hat ihren einzigen Vertrauten verloren, auch wenn sein Opfer ihre Freiheit bedeutet. Sie versinkt in Depressionen und erst ihr nahender Geburtstag reißt sie aus ihrer Lethargie. Das neue Opfer schockiert sie natürlich, aber gleichzeitig weckt es ihre dunklen Triebe und ihren Jagdinstinkt, den sie weiterhin vor Matt versteckt halten muss.
Matt blüht bei den Ermittlungen auf, zu denen er überraschend hinzugezogen wird. Gleichzeitig dämmert ihm langsam, dass Charlotte vielleicht doch mehr mit den Morden zu tun haben könnte, als er sich eingestehen wollte.
Die Story geht rasant und aufregend weiter und wird von immer neuen Enthüllungen oder unerwarteten Twists getoppt. Der zweite Band gefällt mir persönlich sogar noch besser als der Vorgänger, den man aber zum Verständnis unbedingt gelesen haben sollte.
Die Entwicklung von Charlotte und den anderen Charakteren ist überaus interessant und deckt völlig neue Facetten auf. Die dunkle Seite ist nicht durch Zauberhand verschwunden, sondern kommt erneut zum Vorschein, so dass vor allem der schwarz/weiß denkende Matt in tiefe Konflikte gestürzt wird. Für mich ist auch das konsequente Ende schlüssig, auch wenn vielleicht nicht jede klitzekleine Frage beantwortet wird.

Mein Fazit:
Die Fortsetzung ist hochspannend und überaus gelungen. Von mir gibt es eine klare Empfehlung!

Charlotte versucht immer noch mit dem Verlust und der Abstinez zurecht zu kommen. Matthew ist ihr dabei eine große Hilfe. Er selbst hat auch so seine Probleme, da er als Figur der Öffentlichkeit nicht mehr als Cop arbeiten kann. Pünktlich zum Todestag von Eddie Marron wird ein neues Mordopfer gefunden. Dieses wird direkt vor Charlotte´s Galerie abgelegt. Die Jagd beginnt.... 

Ich habe mich total darauf gefreut, wieder in diese Welt abzutauchen. Mir gefällt die Idee des weiblichen Serienmörders total. Nach dem Band 1 geendet hat, war ich nicht zufrieden, ich wollte wissen. Ob und wie Charlotte mit allem klarkommt. Aber jetzt habe ich einige Antworten bekommen. Sie scheint in den ersten Seiten immer noch mit den Veränderungen zu kämpfen. Dann passiert der Mord und jetzt wird es spannend, denn Charlotte blüht auf und auch Matthew bekommt die Veränderungen mit. Wir begleitenden beide auf der Jagd nach der Wahrheit. Die Jagd ist voller Überraschungen, Spannung, Action und Wendungen die einen an das Buch binden. Die einen ganz schön fesselt und das Ende schockt mich. Jetzt hoffe ich auf ein weiteres Band.
