In 2410, humanity has solved all its issues & left the confines of Earth & travelled to other planets to colonise them for themselves. Noah Peterson is a Criminal Profiler living & working on Europa, one of Jupiter's moons, & he is called in to consult on a series of gory murders. The victims are rendered helpless by means of a drug, then sliced up the middle of their body in such a way that as soon as they are able to move & try to call or go for help, the cut opens & they die of exsanguination. The killer is long gone by then & they leave no DNA traces. His police colleagues become suspicious of Noah when he is seen in the vicinity of several of the murders just before they are committed but has no recollection of being there - but it seems to happen whilst Noah is incapacitated by disorientating migraines & epileptic seizures. Is Noah a cunning serial killer masquerading as someone on the side of the law or is there more to this than meets the eye?

When I first started reading this, I was thinking I knew what the outcome was going to be: dissociative identity disorder whenever the migraines or seizures are occurring, right? Well, it's not as straightforward as that & there's more at play than there seems on the surface. The narrative is told from several points of view (including some of the victims) & it clips along at such as pace, you barely have time to draw a breath. Unfortunately this means that making the characters distinguishable & fully rounded has to be dispensed with in many cases. For example, Noah's girlfriend Tess - we are told she is beautiful but I couldn't really tell you anything else about her, she's very bland. As a pacy sci-fi thriller though it's an entertaining read. Verdict: fast-paced, intriguing storyline, but characterisation could be improved. 3.5 stars (rounded down)

My thanks to the author & Voracious Readers Only for a complimentary copy of the book. I am voluntarily giving an honest review.

I found this book hard going. The premise that humans colonise other planets and their associated inventions are all believable but the storyline here is confusing and difficult to follow. Basically a number of brutal murders occur on a world where there is virtually no crime and this is the story of the hunt for the killer . Noah is a involved helping the police but ends up at all the murder scenes and becomes a suspect…. Did he commit these crimes and how does he have knowledge of things that have yet to happen? The characters are fairly flimsy, the style of writing is not to my taste and the ending is beyond my understanding. This rates a 2.5 stars for me.

I was given a copy of this as an advanced review through a friend who had also been given it, and despite not knowing the author, because the synopsis sounded great I gave it a go and really pleased I did. The story is centered around a series of gruesome murders on Europa, after man has colonized it to live on. The little ideas about life on Europa really add to the story, as the characters have to navigate through what is an alien world to us, and it showed the author has a great imagination. The story really kept me guessing, which is where the book really did well as it threw you back and forth trying to figure out who (or what!) the killer is, and the way it gradually built up was well paced. I had a few guesses about what the ending was going to be and thought I’d figured it out with one of my theories, but even though I was close I was still wrong, as the ending was much more than I was expecting. I really recommend this as it was original, beautifully written and the ending packed a big punch for me. I have seen that the author has written three earlier books that I am definitely going to check out now.

A cocktail of Sci-fi, Thriller, and Paranormal genres, The Daemon’s Wish by Chris Wright is a fascinating murder mystery. The story is set in the year 2410. By this year, humans have habited Mars and Europa as well. The peaceful life of Europa is shattered when a killer goes on a murderous streak. Each gruesome murder is a scene from hell, with the victim’s organs splashed in the stream of their own blood. Detective Johnson and Detective Thomas seek the help of a psychological profiler, Noah Peterson, who had proved instrumental in throwing several criminals behind the bars. Solving these murders, however, will not prove to be an easy feat as the crime scenes do not have any DNA other than that of the victims. As bodies begin piling up, the race to catch the killer, who leaves no human trace, ensures many several nights and quick thinking. At this crucial time, Noah has his own demons to face. His health conditions — migraine and epilepsy — have deteriorated overnight. But, the seizures are the least of his worries; he is having serious memory gaps that seem to coincide with the time of the murder. Moreover, his appearance at every sight of the murder makes him a suspect too.

Inside the submersion pod was Leah, sprawled out on the floor, with a ghastly incision from her pelvis to the top of her neck. Her hand was touching the end of a samurai sword, whose blade was thrust a few centimeters into her. The result was horrific, and the pod was swimming with blood and organs that had popped out in the barbaric act.

The beauty of The Daemon’s Wish lies in its setting and mystery. Chris Wright, the author, has put his heart, soul, and sweat into the book. He has considered aspects about Europa, Jupiter’s moon, and figured out a way to allow the audience to imagine the lifestyle of humans on Europa. With the year being 2410, it is natural to introduce advanced technology. So, the readers find the characters using holographic notepads, hovering cars, rain shields, Ionocopter, hyper train, etc. Yet, the bit about Europans taking trips to and from Earth permitted the inclusion of Earthly things in the story. This fusion of old with the new created an immersive read. In short, the scene-setting has a transporting quality to it that takes its readers on one hell of a ride.

"In the distant future, mankind has settled peacefully on Europa, until a series of gruesome murders set off a frantic and suspenseful game of cat and mouse across Jupiter’s Moon. "

The first thing that attracted me towards this book was the intriguing title and the tagline below it that claimed this book to be a “Scifi Supernatural Suspense”. So, I can easily say that I have never read a book that conforms to these genres and it was a pleasantly engaging experience.

The futuristic world building is intricate and beautifully done. With great attention to detail, the author successfully manages to create a mental picture of this fictional world in the readers’ minds. As you are enjoying the new world on Europa, the gory and gruesome murder will leave you reeling and intrigued to know the what, why and who behind it. The murder scenes are described in great detail and they are grisly and macabre enough to disturb some readers. So reader discretion is required.

All in all, Daemon’s Wish by Chris Wright is an engrossing scifi crime suspense with a supernatural twist to it and an original novel concept that readers will enjoy. So, I give 4 out of 5 stars to it and Njkinny recommends this gripping scifi supernatural suspense to all scifi and mystery/thriller lovers. I sat glued to the book throughout, eagerly flipping the pages to know more. The mystery behind the murders is so engrossing that it will keep you guessing until the last page. There is suspense, action, emotional upheaval and shocking twists in this book that make it a worthy read. So, Go read it now!

•The book cover surely does grab the curiosity of the reader with its dark tones and contrasting imagery. It's serves right into building the mystery that this sci fi thriller is.

•This book is written by Chris Wright. He has authored many great and enchanting books on
Science Fiction and Horror Genre, blurring the lines between what is real and what is imagined. His latest novel ‘The Daemon’s Wish’ is inspired by the writings of Anthony Peake and delves into the supernatural, while staying firmly within a sci-fi setting.

•Noah, the protagonist an ambitious and righteous criminal profiler battles through this medical conditions to bring justice and safe gaurd the new world from bloody chaos.

•The author has done an amazing job in describing the Innovative and intrinsic working of a new world with such Vivid imagination that it's plays out as a movie in the readers mind. The advanced features and the evolution of this new world called Europa, Jupiter's moon surely does add an auroa of mystery and amazement to the story

•The framing of the protagonist character was impeccable and super natural with new additions to his story till the very end. This made the predicting of the climax hard because of the various possibilities that existed, keeping the reader at the edge of their seat till the very end.

•The supporting characters had important stroylines that added complexity to the strory keeping it thrilling and fast phased.

•The ending leaves the reader with a bittersweet feeling that makes one question the weight of their actions and through this, the stroy does throw light on the importance of good behaviour and emotional healing.

•This book is a delight to read and is very entertaining to anyone who is interested is science fiction, crime and homicides.

The daemon's wish - Chris Wright

My Rating : 4.9/5

• The story is based on the year 2410, Noah Peterson who was a psychological profiler, assigned to investigate about the terrifying murders happening in the Europa. Europa was one of the place where mankind colonised themselves after Mars, in order to stabilise the increasing population. It's after when the humans fought for the climate change and global warming and made earth a better place to live.

• The story revolves around Noah and two other detectives- thomas and Johnson who were appointed to investigate about the killer behind the series of murders happening in the society.

• This is Chris Wright's 4th book which i have read. "The survival Trilogy" series was the one i read earlier and found it very interesting which hyped my curiosity to read this book.

• I find the story very interesting and keeps you engaged till the last page. The ending is unpredictable, thanks to author's imagination who has written this plot very beautifully.

• I will definitely reccomend this book for the amazing writing and narration done by the author. He has portrayed his imagination in this book. One should definitely read this for the amazing story line and if one likes the thriller genre give this a read.

Mix up a Crime Mystery with Sci-fi and you know what to expect from The Daemon’s Wish. Sometimes it gave me a Dexter/ Criminal Minds vibe and the premise was straight out of a futuristic sci-fi. Unlike normal dystopian where humanity has to strive for survival, this book shows a world where climate change, global warming and other challenges have already been overcome and the world is a better place. Except for the murdered, of course. Which is where our protagonist Noah comes in. He is a psychological profiler and the first person to realise that the murder that has taken place (very gruesome by the way) is the work of a serial killer.

The plot of the story becomes interesting right from the first murder and the vivid descriptions paint a bloody picture that would give anyone nightmares. But since I am interested in crime fiction and can tolerate gory stuff, I didn’t find it unnerving. The characters of the book are as interesting as the book cover. But what is truly worth complimenting is the writing. The book merges different genres quite well and the writing makes sure that the reader connects with the characters. The murder mystery is just as intriguing as the new world Europa.

Far away in the infinite universe there's a world called Europa,
The story happens to be in the future,
so your imagination of the future and the futuristic hitech is detailed perfectly,
Story begins with a murder and the police are working hard to investigate it. There is also a profiler working for them who has blackouts and begins to know suspicious things he shouldn't, making him appear as a suspect.

It was thought-provoking and some good things to learn about from this is to never judge a person by his physical appearance or mental situation. Everyone has something to deal with so be good to them as you never know when they may come back to you and make sure that you feel the same,

The author is great at plotting the story and the detailed writing makes it easy to read❤️

The cover of this book is designed really well. It intrigued me to pick this one. The title is apt for the plot.

Coming to the story it is based the future in a place called Europa. People colonised themselves there due to increase in human population.Noah Peterson and two others were appointed to solve murders happening there. The officer gets hit with migraine and souls tell him suspicious things which he did now know! To know who was the killer and more, grab the book!

Overall this is a very gripping read by Chris. I expected a lot after reading his previous book and honestly he didn't disappoint.
The storyline keeps you on the edge of your seat and the overall plot development is unbelievable. The writing style is smooth and engaging. The charecters are developed well. The ending of the book is really surprising and interesting. Highly recommended from my side without a second thought!

A mashup of sci-fi and suspense!

Wright pens a unique Sci-fi story in The Daemon's Wish. I have read work from this author before, and I really enjoyed it. It's 2410, and there is something peaceful within the colonies, but in that year, there are still police and serial killers. I liked this story, as it brings a crash to utopia, and shows that even in the future, we still have our share of sociopaths and psychopaths. It was a grand story, and not knowing much about the future, and only having to rely on reruns of Star Trek TNG, I found that the characters seemed to fit within their environments on their planets and even the moons. This author has a great imagination and I'm glad it's being shared with stories. The story brings in the believable, even if almost impossible. It's literally out of this world! It's both futuristic and suspenseful. The Daemon's Wish is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I look forward to reading many more stories by this author.

*I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers Only*

I nearly gave up on this book at around 20% completion, because the weird punctuation and the capital letters in the middle of sentences were playing havoc with my CDO. The lack of periods at the end and commas in the middle of sentences is not from a style manual that I am aware of, and their being missing meant I often had to re-read. I pushed on though, because the story itself isn't bad even if it did feel old-fashioned and unpolished. I got a distinct 1930s feel from it, like a Murray Leinster or Hal Clement novel.

The setting is 25th century Europa, which has been terra-formed and populated by humans. Living in one of the cities, Noah Peterson is a consultant psychological profiler for the police, and he has been having increasingly serious epileptic fits and black-outs resulting in memory loss. At the same time there have been a series of extremely gruesome murders and evidence is found which connects Noah to the crime scenes. Can he prove, both to himself and the police, his innocence?

At the risk of damning the book with faint praise, I didn't hate it, but I did have to speed read it to get over the previously mentioned type-setting, as well as some situations which I felt were either anachronistic or incongruous.

“The Daemon’s Wish” takes place in the year 2410 when humanity has colonized Europa, one of Jupiter’s moons. Crime has been at an all-time low until bodies start turning up, killed in gruesome and distinctive ways.

Overall, I enjoyed this story. The world building was innovative and vibrant from the underwater tunnel to the rainbow rain. However, I felt a lack of connection to the protagonist, Noah. Some of it may have been his confusion and demeanor through much of the story, but I just didn’t connect with him. However, the ancillary characters of Alicia and Tess stood out to me as endearing. I found their connection to the story intriguing and it led me to want to learn more of what was going on. The full blog post can be found at heatherlbarksdale.com

This is a fascinating story that blends sci-fi and whodunit with a touch of the metaphysical. The author delivers an action-packed flow with engaging characters, plot, and atmosphere. Like Alicia, who is working the case to solve a string of murders on a colonized moon, I felt the exhilaration of the chase, and the turmoil she experiences as evidence suggests the perpetrator may be a trusted colleague. The utopian setting adds eeriness and impact to the twists and turns of the mystery. This book is highly recommended for its pacing and prose as well as the exploration of ontology inspired by the writings of Anthony Peake. Oh, and if Europan seaweed beer is developed in my lifetime, I'd love to try it!

Wow, what another great read. I am a big fan of the earlier trilogy, and even though I would love to see those characters in new situations it was refreshing to see that the author could create a completely new world of characters. It was a thrilling ride as the police and a profiler try to catch a sinister killer. It took me on a suspenseful rollercoaster, full of imaginative ideas about an alien planet (Well okay, a moon, not a planet) and it had me on the edge of my seat throughout. I can’t wait for the next book, as he must have many more ideas to come as it's left open for a sequel (note to Chris Wright - please at some point bring back the characters from Survival!)

Initially I was drawn into this book and the rich world the author created. However as it went along it became a bit disjointed. The explanations for what certain things were and how they work in this futuristic world became a bit too obvious and took away from the flow of the story. Also while the ending wasnt bad it wasn't the big twist I was anticipating, that would've turned this novel around. I ended up having to do a google search to see what the author was talking about and again that ruined the flow of the story. In saying all that however this has the potential to be a fantastic story with a final edit.

I was really taken in by this story. Lots of twists and turns, and admittedly some real gore, but well done and not overly graphic. They gave the sense of the horror of this figure. The situation with Noah left you almost as confused as his colleagues, wondering if it were him and the ending was quite touching. Great world development and a fascinating premise. I was truly impressed by this one and am interested in reading some of his other books.

This was a really interesting story. I loved the plot and couldn't wait to find out who the killer was, but the ending was a bit confusing. The entire book had me hooked, but I was a bit disappointed with the lack of a clear ending. The characters were interesting enough, but it was the violence and gore and excitement that had me on the edge of my seat. Also, the lack of commas and full stops in the speech was very jarring and made me uncomfortable - but at least the author was consistent about not using them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This was a totally different book based in the future on another planet. There is a serial killer on the loose and one person seems to know a lot about where and how the murders are going to happen. Is he the killer or is it someone else? Keeps you in suspense right to the end . If you like sci fiction then it’s definitely worth a read .

I took a break from reading this book but finished it this month. I was asked to review this book for Veracious readers. I usually don’t go for sci-fi books but this author did a great job of combining sci-fi with a murder mystery (my favourite genre). There was also hints of mythology and a psychology thrown in there. Over all this is a great read for those who like a little bit of everything in their books.

This was a very different read for me but a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Very complex and a very novel plot combining sci fi with murder and it works. The idea of coming back and would was cleverly woven making this a very good read.

The mystery this book's based on did get me all caught up in it. However, the conclusion and the reason behind that mystery left me unsatisfied and weirded out. Like I was thinking where did this even come from rather than oooh, that was a nice twist; I'd have never thought of that! It also had other issues that made it an okayish read for me.

The story is set way into the future. Humans have worked together and saved the Earth, then they colonized Mars and Europa.

The world is and its colonies are safe for the most part, until a series of brutal murders. The police work with Noah, he is a profiler, to uncover the murderer.

There is no evidence left behind, no fingerprints, no surveillance. And for some reason, Noah seems to know more about what is going on. His life turns upside down. The migraines and epilepsy, he always had, get worse, with stress and lack of sleep, to the point he blacks out for a few hours and has no idea what is going on.

I like the setting of the book, especially the sci-fi aspect and the mystery of the crime, which seems unsolvable. However, I wasn't the biggest fan of the supernatural aspect of the story. Noah is an interesting character, thought the story, we see his life, relationship, and struggle he had. It makes it easy to root and feel for him.
