The stone cottage that Anna St. Armand would call home during her mission sits shrouded deep within the Acadian forest. On a sunny day, one would call it picturesque; however, that same forest could become dark and malevolent.
It's the last place Anna wanted to be, but how she feels doesn't matter. The agency's orders are clear: gather intel, identify the threat and neutralize it.
Most importantly, above all else, protect the agency.
The agency pays Anna to tease out secrets. In this case, someone is willing to kill to keep them hidden. Along with this risk, Anna has her own secrets, and someone from her past just may have compromised her mission. Time isn't on her side.
Anna must prove who is guilty.
Sometimes, the lines in life blur. The innocent aren't necessarily all that innocent.
This is my first book by Cynthia MacLean. I really enjoyed it, easy to read in one or two sessions. The story had unexpected plot twists I didn’t see coming. I quickly became invested in the characters story. Definitely won’t be my last book by this author.
Again, another awesome book in this series! Excellent details on fire fighting, this story really surprised me at the end!!! I didn't even see it coming! One of those "WHAT" moments!
