Stonefire Dragons #11

Trusting the Dragon

Rate this book
Finally divorced and free of her bastard ex-husband, Sarah MacKintosh Carter looks forward to living with the Scottish dragon clan and attempting a normal life. However, a letter arrives and says she has thirty days to mate a dragon-shifter, or she has to return to a human city. If she leaves, she knows her former in-laws will be determined to take custody of her sons. So the countdown begins on finding a dragonman to mate her. There’s just one rule: no falling in love so she can protect her heart.

Hudson Wells hasn’t stopped thinking about the female he met by chance two years ago—she’s the only one he’s wanted in his life and his bed since the loss of his late mate. When the chance comes to claim Sarah as his own, Hudson puts his name forth to be her mate. Now he just needs to convince her to pick him. Despite the fact she’s divorced, Hudson soon discovers that Sarah was neglected, so he makes it his job to prove how desirable she really is.

As Hudson does his best to persuade Sarah of how they’re combustible together in bed and a good team as parents out of it, her past comes back to haunt her. Not only does it threaten one of her sons, but it could also end up destroying the future she now yearns for with Hudson. Will she find a way to seize a happy ending for once? Or will Sarah end up losing everything she cares about?

I enjoyed the story. Honestly, what I did not like was the dominant/submissive sex scenes. Not my thing. I also felt there was also way too much time spent on sex scenes and not enough time on the story. I would have liked to have seen the rescue at the end, which was skipped over. And it would have been nicer to see scenes with Hudson getting to know Mark and Joey, and Sarah getting to know Elliott.

I loved going back to the Stonefire British Dragons series, it's been a few years and I really hadn't realized how much I missed and loved these dragonmen. I especially missed the dialogue beteween human and his dragon..

Sarah MacKintosh Carter is finally rid of her mentally abusive husband, but now she has to live on Stonefire land less her abusive in-laws find a way to take her children from her. To top it off now the DDA has given her 30 days to mate a dragonman, or leave. How will she be able to mate a dragonman she doesn't even know, maybe if it was that handsome dragonman that helped her find her son 2 hears ago? But why would such a hot man want to mate her especially after how rude she was to him?

Hudson Wells hasn't been able to get that human he helped 2 years ago out of his mind and now that the opportunity to have her presents itself, he plans on grabbing it. It won't be easy going, but she is so worth it, especially since she is the only female that has ever caught his interest since his late wife.

Will Hudson be able to convince Sarah that not all men are like her ex, especially this dragonman?

Get ready for the hotness, it's hot and heavy!

Trusting the Dragon Stonefire Dragons Book # 14
Jessie Donovan
Sarah MacKintosh Carter was finally free of her abusive ex-husband, she had won her divorce!. Her boys were finally safe! Until she reads the letter that changes everything. It seems that she and her boys being fully human, don’t exactly fit the criteria for staying at Clan Lochguard after all! Her in-laws are using shifter law to get custody of her 2 sons. If the family were to stay on at the clan, Sarah would be forced to mate a dragon-shifter! Finn Stewart had done everything he could to facilitate her stay. But according to the DDA, Sarah had 30 days to make a decision or face being arrested! Finn and the solicitor put all the cards on the table. Finn and Bram had come up with a list of possible candidates, between Lochguard and Stonefire, there must be some male dragon-shifter who just might help her! There was one really nice dragonshifter she met while on Stonefire a few years ago….
Dawn Chadwick-Whitby and Nikki Hartley-Gray met Sarah at Stonefire after she left the boys to get ready for the Children’s Play the kids were doing. She was going to have a “blind date” with one of the dragonshifter candidates Finn mentioned. Sarah was really nervous. Her ex had made sure Sarah was a beat-down female with very low self-esteem. What was the name of that shifter she’d met before? Could it be him? He had a son too, remember? Dawn tried her best to help Sarah relax. She related to Sarah, her situation had been similar to what Sarah was going through. She reminded Sarah to be just herself. Turn the page, start a new chapter!
Hudson Wells remembers the sweet, young, harried Mom he helped a few years back. She was looking for her younger son, who had suddenly turned up missing! He and son Elliott helped the young Mom track down and reunite with her lost youngster! Hudson wonders could this be whom I’m meeting today? Could she be the one who stirred my longings, the only one who has since I lost Charlie?
Joey and Elliott meet, remembering the day they had met previously. Kids are resilient and don’t meet strangers! Then Sarah is there. Eyes meet. Right across the room. It is her, she’s the one I remember helping. Heart thumping, she was simply beautiful! Sarah remembers him. Hudson smiles and her heart engages. They find a room and begin to get to know one another. Sarah gets right to the point, “Why?” Hudson’s answer makes Sarah’s body sizzle. “You’re the first female I’ve wanted to kiss since my late mate died”. Their attraction was off the charts! But was it enough? Would Hudson treat the boys like his own? Joey and Elliott were good, but what about Mark? So many questions!
Hudson knew Sarah had a less then stellar first marriage. She had told him about some of it. Hudson wanted to find the human male and make him squirm! Elliott tries to get along with Mark, who just wants to go back to Lochguard. Finally Hudson and Sarah get some time alone, no boys just themselves. Their attraction sizzles. But still Sarah has doubts. No one could want her for herself. Her ex made that perfectly clear! But Hudson is different. Hudson seems to really care for Sarah, and for all the boys. Both have baggage from previous family issues and relationships, this mating will not be easy! Neither Hudson nor Sarah find it easy to trust. Both have been burned by life. So if you want to know what happens, get a copy of Trusting the Dragon, you will be so glad you did!

This was wonderful, heartfelt read I loved every moment of
Sarah had been aware that her divorce from her abusive husband should finally have made her happy when she had freedom from the constant abuse of her husband and the fact that she had hidden his ways from her two boys. Now since she had been living with her brother and his new mate and the Scottish clan of dragons they had resided with.
Now their happiness was being threatened by her ex and his family who are trying to get her two boys which she knows would ruin them, they were cold and indifferent and cruel and simply wanted her because they wanted to hurt her.
Mark and Joey are Sarah’s two boys who are thriving since they had been living with the Dragon clan and had seen the change in their mother as well, unfortunately her divorce lawyer had advised her the only way she could keep her boys was to take a dragon man as her mate.
Two years previously Sarah and her Joey had bee enjoying short break when they came across Hudson and his young son Elliot who had recently lost their mate and mother “Charlie” respectively to Dragon hunters and now it seemed they were fated to meet again, he was hoping to be her mate if she would have him, become stepfather to her two boys and they would all love in Stonefire have thirty days to live together as a matched couple
Hudson and Sarah are doing well and the boys are getting to know other and it is only too apparent how well match the couple are, Sarah has never knowns such kindness and pleasure in her life she has only ever known cruelty and spite from Rob her ex-husband, a cruel and brutal tyrant that had married her simply for his monthly inheritance payment.
As things start to go well for the small group and both Hudson and Sarah are starting to feel their way, love their children and bring them together into an environment where there was true honesty, love and kindness offered without an ulterior motive,
This is a simply wonderful read and I assure you that once you being reading you would not put this book down until you reach the final page.
I do not want to spoil the plot so will say no more about the three of them, I assure you that you will enjoy every single moment of this book.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Falling in love again with this series!

Wow just wow…this book reminded me of the first couple of books in this series. The passion, the drama and the anticipation of what will come next I haven’t had since the first book in the series.

Character breakdown;

Sarah: I understand that she went through a lot and had to unpack a lot in her psyche (the fact that therapy wasn’t an option baffles me) but it was hard to see her battling herself and doubting everything around her. I saw her growth and I appreciated it, I also like how things were done to help her esteem. I won’t lie Sarah took some time to grow on me, and it wasn’t much of a like. But I loved her story and her coming to herself story it was nicely paced.

Hudson: oh! I loved this man I am glad to see him have his happy ending, finally, and I liked the patience he had with Sarah. He seemed to know exactly what was best for Sarah and had the patience and the mind to give it to her. The man is a saint for sure, but most of all I like how real he seemed. He understood where he had to be and where he should back off, I support a supporting man lol.

There is so much I have to unpack with this book so let’s start with what I liked:

The dragon woman and Bronx! The fact that he’s name is Bronx! I NEED that book more than I need the next two… because it’s THEIR story. I am also looking forward to this book because it reminds me a lot of the book Destiny kills by Keri Arthur and I wonder how it’ll go.

Two; I like the heat of this story it as like once again reading the first book all over again. (I remember how dirty Tristan was lol) I loved the dominant and submissive thing and it wasn’t cheesy or overdone. It gave just enough to enjoy it but not get bored with it. I support s**ual therapy!

Bravo to the author I couldn’t put the book down and I had a hard time turning away from wanting to know more about the new discovery. It’s always the plot twists that get me lol.

Sarah & Hudson +kids

Sizzzle! This one is hot!

Human, Sarah, is finally finding a place for her sons and herself after her divorce from her abusive, beast of a husband (he is not a dragon either). Until--she is notified she can't live in the Dragon Clan unless she mates with a dragon in one month. Without the protection of the dragons, she is in danger of losing custody of her two boys to the parents of her ex--the same people who helped make him who he is today.

The clan leaders have a list of dragons willing to mate with her to save her and her boys. The dragon she met and was attracted to a couple of years previous is on the list. Could it possibly work?

Hudson was excited to see he would again meet with the human he'd been attracted to before. She was the first female to draw the man and dragon since his mate's death. If he could prove to her he was worthy to be with her family he'd have a chance to have a life and love for his dragon and himself. As he learned more of her past he knew it would take patience to have her. He knew there was a physical attraction, but with the kids, there was much more involved and at stake.

I'm a fanatic for the author. This is by far the hottest book I've read of hers and I'm not talking dragon fire! Many of the characters are familiar from other books even though a new reader will not need to know that. Her worldbuilding is amazing, the story engaging with enough intrigue to keep the reader awake reading. DO NOT MISS THIS ONE, but bring a cold drink and a fan.

Trusting the Dragon
Sarah has not had an easy life. Her parents were not loving and at times abusive. Unfortunately, this led her into a loveless and abusive marriage. Her relationship with her former husband, Rob did give her two wonderful children. Sarah’s boys, Mark and Joey, are her world. Recently divorced she and her boys are living on Lochguard Clan lands to be near her brother who is mated to a dragonwoman. Rob’s parents want to take custody of the boys. Now Sarah must either mate a dragon to stay on Clan lands or leave. There are a few dragonmen that are willing to help.
Hudson Wells lost his mate to dragon hunters and he and his son Elliot have been alone for a few years. He agrees to offer up his help. He wonders if the woman he helped two years ago find her lost child is the same woman that needs help to stay on Dragon Lands.
Sarah’s motto has been “One thing at a time” and she decides to meet Hudson. Could they form a friendship and be companions? Could this be the handsome man that was helpful and attentive from two year ago?
It would not be a Jessie Donovan book without twists and turns, find out how danger brings families together and perhaps a happy ever after.
This was a sweet book of second chances for many characters. I loved how Sarah and Hudson ‘fit’ together. I am intrigued by Bronx. Hudson’s brother. Percy…I look forward to that story.

I love going back to Stonefire! How can anyone not? And this story packed so much in it! Our dragonman is Hudson. Hudson lost his mate a few years back and has been on his own taking care of his son, Elliot. And for those who have been with the series this long, you'll remember his mate, Charlie. She was a Protector who died early on in the series. Now Hudson gets a second chance at having a mate. Sarah we have met recently. She is the sister of Lachlan who married a dragonwoman at Lochguard. Sarah has not had an easy life. She has finally escaped an abusive marriage and is hoping to have a safe place to live with her two young sons. But after a year at Lochguard, her ex in-laws are threatening to take her sons from her. Her only hope is to marry a dragonman and become a permanent resident at Lochguard or Stonefire. In an attempt to help her, the clan leaders suggest some dragonshifters who may be a good match for her. Even it is as simple as a marriage of convenience. What she doesn't expect is to be paired to Hudson. A man she has met two years before by chance. And Hudson certainly remembers her. She was the first female to draw his attention after losing his mate. Though back then their encounter was brief and Sarah was married. But he hasn't forgotten her. And perhaps this is their chance to discover if there is truly something between them. Loved this story! We had two great characters who have had it pretty rough but together learn to believe in fresh starts and second chances. Not to mention the action when it comes to those who are stilling hunting dragons. This is a great addition to the series and with more characters introduced, I'm excited to who's story we are getting next!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sarah is finally free of her abusive husband and living a life a of a single mother to two wonderful boys. Staying with her brother and his mate at the Stonefire Clan she and her boys have never been happier. When news comes that she has 30 days to either mate with a dragon or leave Stonefire forever and lose her boys to her ex in-laws she decides to find a mate. Enter dragon shifter Hudson who hasn’t stop thinking about Sarah since he meet her two years ago and so he decides he wants her for himself. Even though she is attracted to Hudson she isn’t looking for love and wants to maintain her distance fate has other ideas and as they become a true family with their sons Sarah’s past comes knocking. Will their new found family survive or will those outside forces tear the family apart?

I received a copy of this book for a review.

I am a big fan of the series. I have read them all. I highly recommend them to fans of paranormal romances.

Hudson has faced great loss and has focused on his son. His meeting with Sarah years ago was never forgotten.

Sarah was introduced in an earlier book when her brother found his mate. She and her sons faced so much abuse from her ex. It’s hard for her to trust.

I really enjoy how the author allows both characters to alternate as narrators of the story. It really lets you feel closer to both characters. You understand their motivations.

It was great to see them both find happiness after so much pain. It’s not a quick process. The author lets the relationship grow and doesn’t rush it even though the timeframe is short.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

Two people who have known loss in different ways, come together to forge a new future for their children. Sarah and Hudson's story is about healing and trying to blend two families. Of course, there is some angst from Sarah's oldest child who thinks his mother is out to make him forget about his abusive father. Sarah has her own demons to battle after growing up with horrible parents and an ex-husband who used her and verbally abused her until she had no self-esteem left. Hudson helps her to see that her ex was an arsehole and Sarah is so much more than she believes herself to be. I know some reviews mentioned wanting to read more about the rescue scene near the end of the book but I believe that it will be told in the next book in the series. It would make more sense to me to be revealed in the next one. I was sad to learn that the series is winding down as I have enjoyed it so much.

Hot, romantic, steamy, did I mentioned HOT?

I have fallen for Hudson!! He was simply perfect for Sarah, even though I will admit her ex was someone I would have like to use as punching bag. The rat bastard!!! 😡
I was completely enthralled with the book. I would have liked for her to let Mark know more about the rat bastard's plans from the first time he was arrested at Lochguard, I understand protecting a child, but she did over due it.
To learned about Hudson's brothers and meet Percy, was really nice. I can't wait for her story to come out. It was nice to hear a bit about Melony, Jane, Ivy and all the other humans in the Stonefire Dragon's clan. 2023 is a long way to wait, but I hope to fill the time with Jessie's other books coming out this year.

It's always great when we going back to Stonefire. I must say that this has to be the steamies of the story. Hudson and Sarah both have their own personal baggage to deal with but together they learned to believe in fresh starts and second chances. Plus I'm a total sucker for second chance at love story and this one doesn't disappoint. Overall a great read. As always my reviews are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are completely my own.

Ohhh back with the Stonefire Dragon clan makes my heart sing....I love these books because not only are they stories that you can just melt into, they are superbly written with a serious undertone tackling issues that a lot of people try to hide from. Hudson and Sarah's story is simply beautiful, a true story of an abused person finally finding that special person to treat her right...loved it and loved being back with Stonefire Dragons family

Brilliant

I think we were all heartbroken when we lost Charlie. For Hudson and Elliott to find happiness and family again made for the perfect story. Sarah's story is more common than we want to acknowledge. For two families with hurt and heartbreak to find strength enough to come together to find love and a family connection made for an emotional read. This was such a wonderful heartwarming and yes a little more...hot romance ❤ but fitting. 🤭

Love it

I have always loved the authors Dragon series books and this one is no different. Hudson and Sarah's story was really enjoyable. I was so happy he got a happy love story especially with the story with his first mate which I remember reading. That one was so sad. Definitely continue to recommend reading Stonefire series, but I just wish didn't have to wait so long between books. Plus it was nice to see Kai in this book, a!ways liked his character.

a brand new family

Trusting the Dragon is book fourteen in the series Stonefire British Dragons by author Jessie Donovan. In this tale you see a human need to gain her strength back- to take back her powers. To learn to trust again. You also see a male dragon who would be her mate help guide her and learn that even though life can have heartbreak, it can be filled with love and acceptance again.
Enjoy!!

A good read

A Good ending for the Lachlan/sister segment of dragon life. My only issue with book was the VERY heavy smut/sex scenes.
If like smut/ heavy sex you would like. Just not my personal like. I am more fun romanticism to a love life than straight in face/ dom/submissive ect.
Otherwise a good story line, and a sad but interesting introduction to new character who really needed a better life.

Trusting the Dragon (Stonefire British Dragons Book 14) by Jessie Donovan. Sarah is human living at Lochguard with her two sone having recently divorcing her abusive husband. She can’t stay on dragon land unless she mated to a dragon. Hudson lives on Stonefire with his son, his mate had been killed by dragon hunters. He had met Sarah, briefly, a few years before and had liked her so he put his name forward to be considered as a mate for Sarah.

Love after trauma

What a perfect story for those people/dragons that proves there can be love after loss. You have someone willing to help a stranger because they have a great heart. It’s proof that there is still good in the world.
