Fear holds us back. Only when we let go can we let love in and truly conquer all.
I’m a rock star. I've been labeled a bad boy. A player. They aren’t wrong, but my life is not as good as it seems.
The woman I thought I wanted forever with chooses another man over me, and suddenly, I know I want more than just fame.
Life is turned upside-down and a fiery, sassy woman walks into my life, making love an appealing possibility.
Can we both push aside doubts and expectations and take a chance on love? Will I finally be able to appease the restless beat of my heart?
Restless Beat is book 8 in the Love in Sienna Series, and while it is an interconnected stand-alone and can be read on its own. It is also the second book in a love triangle and would be best read after Tangled Love.
If you like bad boy rock stars, strong and determined Heroines, and steam for days, than this book is for you!
I was given this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest review. Anything said in this review is 100% my honest opinion.
This has to be my all time favorite book in this series. Seeing Ace grow from this sarcastic asshole who never let anyone in to this sweet caring person was the best thing ever. I knew Rayna was the right person from him from their first interaction when she would not tolerate him being a dick and when he actually listened to her. She pushes him to be a better man and he pushes her out of her comfort zone to pursue her dream and go after what she wants. I cried like a baby when things went south in this book, don't want to spoil it so you'll have to read to figure out what happens, but it eventually made them stronger as a couple. As always Laura John rocked this book.
I was so excited that Ace finally found the love he was meant to have with this firey red haired nurse!!! Rayna is a badass boss lady and doesn't put up with Ace's nonsense. She loves him with all that she is and he does the same in return. They are open and honest with each other about their pasts and that makes them stronger when faced with a determined person from Ace's past.
I’m a sucker for a broken ‘bad boy’ rockstar romance and this one would have to be one of my all time favourites. Ace and Rayna are one of those couples that compliment each other and bring out the best in each other. Laura John just keeps getting better and better with each book!
This is my favorite book from the series!!! I needed Ace to get his HEA desperately and I was so happy he found that in Rayna! This babe right here is a badass nurse!! Both of these characters have painful pasts but I loved their openness and honesty with one another I think that’s what made them my IT couple. There love one another so fiercely it is unmistakable that they were made for each other. There was a moment though where my heart dropped and I was holding my breath like no freaking way this cannot be happening…. You definitely have to read to find out!!!! Both Ace and Rayna grew together learning things about themselves as well as each other it was beautiful. Laura John has seriously outdone herself with Restless Beat. The entire Love in Sienna series is amazing but Restless Beat stole my heart!!!
Restless Beat is Book 8 in Laura John’s Love in Sienna Series. We finally get to know the real Ace Star, as he evolves before our eyes, following a car accident that leaves him in need of a temporary caregiver. Rayna takes the job, but feels an immediate connection to her new boss, despite knowing about his past reputation as a playboy rockstar. Given both their painful childhoods, can they find a home in each other? One of the central themes of this book seems to be not letting fear prevent you from moving forward and finding the happiness you are meant to have. Also, as with the other books in the series, family is paramount, and not necessarily the family you are born into, but the one you create for yourself. This book had everything I’ve come to expect from Laura’s books and more. The characters are so real, their emotions are raw, and the passion between Ace and Rayna was electric. Lance was another masterful addition, as his friendship with Ace is beautiful, as is the way he was with Rayna from the beginning. I hope he gets an HEA at some point. I enjoyed seeing Ace gradually opening up more, even with the band. I’m a sucker for witty banter and laughter. I knew at some point there was going to be some drama, but holy plot twist Batman!!👀 I did NOT see that coming!! (You’ll have to read to find out what happened!😉😂) It was so close to the end, I was afraid there was going to be a cliffhanger, which I hate, but there wasn’t!! This is a must-read!! Every time I read one of these books, I think it’s my new favorite, but Ace and Rayna really are special! I can’t wait to visit Sienna again soon!!❤️📚
I received an advanced review copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.
Restless Beat is book #8 in Laura John’s Love in Sienna series Recovering addict Ace is a guitarist and lead singer in a rock band. Sitting in a bar with a double scotch in a glass, Ace ponders losing the only 2 women he ever risked loving: one to death, the other to another man. After a chat with the bartender about life and women; Ace decides to leave the alcohol on the bar and head out with Lance, his friend, and bodyguard to their car. The snowy wet roads cause a car to careen out of control and hit Ace and Lance’s car. Rayne was leaving the same ballroom celebration Ace escaped after witnessing his ex’s Cara when she heard the horrible crunch of metal and ran to see if she could help since she was a nurse. Rendering aide to Lance and Ace is the moment that Ace and Rayne’s life intersect their lives are changed from that moment forward. Ace hires Rayne to be his private nurse to help him with his recovery at home and for the beginning of the band’s upcoming tour. Ace has to heal physically and emotionally from the trauma of the wreck and a broken relationship with Cara. Rayne is a burnt-out hospital nurse always working with no social life but a kind heart who helps others. This unlikely pair of horn dog rocker Ace and empathic nurse Rayne actually find they not only like each other but have a red-hot connection. As they live together and get to know each other, healing takes place, attraction escalates, and a new relationship may be developing. Laura John has a one-click hit with this rocker romance set in the Love in Sienna Series.
Talk about a redemption story. Ace was a bit of an uncertain and unclear character in Tangled Love, he was the playboy Rockstar that didn't want to be alone. After losing Cara he felt his eyes and heart were starting to open to see he wanted more out of life, but still reserved and afraid. You get to see so much more of Ace in this story and what he has been hiding is not something you want to miss. Rayna is a hold-her own type of woman who takes no ones sass. Rayna is ready to knock Ace down a peg or two as she helps care for him in his recovery after a terrible accident, but she may end learning something herself. I love the dynamic that Ace and Rayna have. They find companionship in unexpected ways when they were clearly not seeking it out. Each of them are strong and capable characters on their own but they discover more of themselves and what they can be when they are together. This is a story about two people finding their own strengths are amplified when they lean into each other. A HEA story for sure! We even get a bit more on mister hottie bodyguard, I can't wait to read his story.
If you haven’t already read the love triangle that led to this bad boy finding his forever love, stop now and go back there first. Because you’ll need that story to fully appreciate just how much this guy deserves love. Because of that, I’ll refrain from names here.
Our rockstar needs love, but doesn’t know how to find it. Or if he really wants to put himself out there. After all, he’s been through a lot. But then he goes through even MORE, which puts him squarely in the path of the one woman he’s meant to have. He just has to convince her that it’s okay to be with him. It’s okay to love. It’s okay to blur some lines. And holy wow, do they blur and outright erase a few lines.
I adored this book and was so glad that the guy got his woman. He clearly learned from his past mistakes and shared all aspects of his life. No secrets became the motto. So when bad things could happen, the drama is largely avoided because of that key thing missing from so many romance novels: communication. And I LOVE this author all the more for making communication so central to this tale. It’s necessary and real and made me love the relationship being built that much more.
This whole series is fabulous, but I think this couple may be my favorite, simply because of the flow of their story. We got to catch up with other couples while hoping for a man for the BFF who deserves all the goodness life has to offer. Maybe that’ll come our way next? I can only hope.
As an author, Laura John's storytelling gets better and better with each book. First of all, if you have not read any other books in the Love in Sienna series, please go back and start with book 1. Many of the characters from former books have roles in the story and as a reader, you will enjoy it that much more knowing the backstories. Laura holds little back in this story. The lead character, Ace, is the definition of broken. He's a survivor, surviving but not living life as he protects himself from everything and everyone - even his bandmates. I love how Laura's characters are layered with complexity and have ugly parts that are completely relatable. You see this with not only Ace but also Reyna. It is refreshing to see how this story line progresses. How each character adapts to all the twists and turns the author deviously places in front of them. I enjoyed the pacing of the story. I laughed, groaned, growled and yelled at the story. In short, I inhaled this book. Honestly, if Laura never wrote about anything other than these Sienna characters, I'd be blissfully content. My definition of a great book is one that I think of when it is over. Think about the characters, what happens next, what I wished happened, how the story made me feel. This book accomplished that and more. Great read!
This series is so much fun. I'm not going to say much about this because the MMC is heavily featured in book 7 in this series (which you should totally read for the fullest of context) but needless to say He and Rayma hit it off after a massive crash brings them into each others lives. It was spicier than I thought it would be but I was thrilled to see him get his HEA. All around not only would i reccomend this book but this series as a whole is a totally winner. I volunteered to read and review an early copy of this. All opinions are my own.
Laura did it again with another unique story that roped me in from the very start. If you haven't read book 7 in this series yet, pop back and do that now so you can get the background for the MMC to truly appreciate his story.
This one was SPICY! It had passion, trauma, personal growth and two main characters that were absolutely made for each other. They push each other to grow and bring out the best in one another. Ace and Rayna are #couplegoals that bring the heat.
There’s something about the series I just love. Each story is so different and has a different feel. This may be my favorite. The banter not only between the couple but Ace’s bodyguard is spectacular. This book is a perfect example of what a contemporary romance should be! I love the added element of of caretaker and crabby patient! This is fun easy read and j highly recommended it!!!
I have been waiting for this character’s HEA since book three of the Love in Sienna series. And I was not disappointed. 💕
I’ll be honest, I had forgotten all about the h (she’s mention on previous stories) and I was shocked, happy, and excited when I read she will b with the H.
To truly enjoyed this story I strongly recommend you read Tangled Love (book 7) first. My heart was crushed in this story and I’m still holding a grudge on the h. 🤣🤣
Anyways, Restless Beat characters are everything, and you didn’t hear this from me but……….. this might be my favorite story yet of the series! 🤫
Can’t wait for what’s coming next!!!!
I received an ARC copy of this story and I’m leaving a voluntary review.
This is book 8 of the Love in Sienna Series And Ace is the sexy rockstar who was jilted in the previous book. He never dated much so he tried with his previous lover but it didn’t work out in his favor. Reyna is a nurse but she’s feeling burnt out and lately unhappy with her job so when an opportunity presents itself she goes for it. Ace and Reyna have great chemistry and they’re a little kinky too. This story has some drama but it’s not over the top, it was very good and I’m giving it four stars and recommend it.
Restless Beat by Laura John is the eighth book in the Love in Sienna Series. I was curious on how Ace would find love in this book and I was not disappointed. Ace and Rayna are meant for each other. They needed one another to progress as individuals. I like how the secondary characters contribute to the story. I felt the story flowed. Restless Beat is a great addition to the series.
I have truly enjoyed this series so much. Laura definitely has an amazing gift. I feel like these people are my family, you get to see them all grow and get their own HEA. Absolutely can't wait to see what she comes up with next!
"Who knew crashing my car would rock my world?" Ace and Lava are a duo to not be trifled with, I will tell you that!!!! This book had me on the edge of my seat a the right times and wanting more.
Omg I love this book, I am glad I get to see my home state come more into play in Laura's books.
I was lucky enough to win an ARC of this book. I absolutely loved it! Plenty of heat is in here. Plenty of sass. Made me laugh a good few times. Even though I have not read the whole of the Sienna books. I have to say book 7 and book 8 are amazing. Think I'm going to have to go and read the rest of them.
I loved this book! There were times I laughed, times I cried, but ultimately this book had me smiling throughout. It is a spicy contemporary romance, but what I think I enjoyed the most was the honesty. No ‘I hope she doesn’t get mad when she finds out’ business. Ace was up front about everything from his addiction to his past right from the start. I identified with Rayna right away and loved how she was willing to make the leap and follow her dreams!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it!
Restless Beat (Love in Sienna #8) Written by: Laura John
Restless Beat started off with a crash that set Ace and Rayna’s world on a collision course.
Ace and Rayna’s first meeting was at an accident, when she stopped to help an unconscious Ace. Their second meeting was the following day, Ace the accident victim was giving the nurses a hard time and Rayna was the nurse they sent in to shut him down. Ace was refusing meds having beaten an addiction and not wanting to ever be on addictive medication; Rayna understood and worked with him.
Ace took an immediate liking Rayna and by the time he was released had convinced her to be his private nurse for his recovery. Truth be told, she wasn’t happy with her job and having this opportunity handed to her was something she didn’t want to pass up. Both of these characters had in the past struggled with relationships, which made watching this new relationship spark and grow was wonderful.
Watching Laura John develop this relationship was a great view into developing characters throughout a story. Her writing was easy to follow and moved melodically throughout the story. She made it very believable that these two, who had many relationship disappointments would work well together while getting to learn about each other, setting a base for what becomes a solid relationship.
There was a push and pull between Ace and Rayna that started slowly but built into a hot combustible romance with elements of mild BDSM that easily became a part of who they are as a couple.
There were learning time, loving times and a shocking incident but again, this all played so well into the storyline. This is the only book in the series that I have read, but I had no trouble figuring out who characters were and where they fit in. Again, kudos go to the author; she knows her characters and has set out a good story line. I was shocked when I realized I was almost through the story and to me that just shows how well she did her job. I didn’t realize time was passing I was just enjoying the story I was reading. I’m going to go back at some point and begin the series from the beginning.
This has to be my favorite book out of the series. Seeing Ace finally getting his happy ending made my heart so very happy. Rayna is perfect for him! I don't wanna give any spoilers, but just know this book is phenomenal! I have reread so many times already i love it that much!! Go read the whole series now if you havent yet, you wont regret it! You are amazing Laura!!!!
After the last book in the series, I was more than ready to get Ace's story. We saw just how much the last story broke Ace, and this installment starts where the previous story leaves off, Ace in a bar after Cara and Beau got engaged. Just as Ace was contemplating giving up, he gets a friendly word of advice and decides to call it a night. What he doesn't know is that fate is about to step in and help him find that one person that was meant for him.
I can't even tell you just how freaking good this story was! I loved the added dabble into the BDSM world, ramping up the steam factor 100%. Rayna was absolutely perfect for Ace, with her sassy attitude and not going to take his crap, to her submission to him during the naughty bits. This totally made up for the last book for me. I give this 4 stars.
Restless Beat is book 8th in this amazing series "Love in Sienna" and we finally get the story of rockstar Ace. If you love damage heroes with a broken past looking for redemption then you definitely need to read this book.
Ace is one of the characters that most intrigued me from the very beginning of this series. His personality of a lonely rockstar with so much trouble always made want to know his story and in this book you get to know his personal demons.
After a the ending of a relationship with on and off partner Cara (country singer) he is left wondering about his life and his future. When he mets Rayna after a car accident something in her calls to his heart and soul. And let me tell you I swoon after this bad boy because I got to know a total different side of him.
Rayna is such a lovely character, there is nothing I didn't like about her. The connections she has with Ace is unique and very sweet. They complimented each other so well and I love this couple so so much.
This book was a fantastic way to close this series. A must read!!
I'm so glad Ace got his happy ending! Even though this is technically a standalone, I'd highly recommend you read Tangled Love first to give you Ace's background, it will help you understand him more. Ace has not been lucky in love, the only two girls he believed he loved have left him, and he's not willing to put himself out there again. Then nurse Rayna comes into his life to help out after an accident. I loved Ace, and he so deserved his happy ending, once he found someone he could love he just went to mush and it was so sweet to see how he treated Rayna. Rayna was a little harder for me to like. Considering she announced herself as single because she was too career focused, she didn't hesitate to drop her nursing job and then all of a sudden a never-before-mentioned-hobby turned into a new career that she instantly excelled at. The attraction between the two was instant and hot, with a little kink thrown in. They clearly cared deeply for each other and it was so sweet to see them fall in love.
Sassy, sweet and steamy…those are the first words that come to my mind as I read Ace and Rayna’s story. Although their “meet cute” was anything but cute I think it was the perfectly imperfect beginning to their whirlwind love story. I believe that Rayna was exactly what Ace needed, someone who was strong and could put him in his place while he was also perfect for her because he was a safe place for her to land when she didn’t want to be that strong person in charge and needed to let go. I throughly enjoyed their witty banter, sexy times and the swoon worthiness throughout. I always fall a little harder when I read a Love in Sienna book, these are my people…well at least I want them to be lol
I was honoured to get an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review
William White aka Ace first meets Rayna when she comes to his aid after a car crash. As Rayna was a nurse at a busy hospital she just went in auto pilot mode when she saw the accident. Rayna is the nurse that never takes rubbish from others. So Ace soon nicknames her Larva for her red hair and feisty attitude. Only thing is they both kinda like each other & Ace decides to hire her as his private nurse as he needs help at home whilst he recovers
