Being demisexual means attraction doesn't always come easy. And it has a way of knocking me off my feet. I can't want Joel. I'm pretty sure he's scared of me, and we're working together.
It's a recipe for disaster.
Too bad my emotions say otherwise. And once they start talking, my body starts listening. I've been screwed by love before. Is Joel worth taking the risk?
There’s no need to get bent out of shape over one hot guy.
Managing talent puts me in the path of plenty of attractive men, so there's no reason to freak out every time I see Kyzer. Besides being gorgeous, he's covered in ink and as intimidating as they come. You'd never know from looking at him how gentle he is. He's a client and no matter how much I want him, he's off limits.
There are lines in this business that you can't cross. I know it's best for both of our careers. But what if throwing out the rules leads us down the path to happily ever after?
Ali Lyda always seems to pull me in from the very first page and Angel Ink was no different. Kyzer being demisexual was something that pulled me in from the blurb since it was something I was not familiar with and I kind of fell for Joel in Forbidden Ink.
Kyzer being demisexual is not one for thinking with his "manhood" because attraction doesn't come so easy to him unless he has developed feelings for the person first. No one has interested him in years as a potential boyfriend until Joel. He isn't sure if the stiff shirt manager finds him attractive, is scared of him or hates him but either way there are some definite feelings there.
Joel doesn't do relationships because he doesn't have the time, or that is the excuse he uses. Every time he has been on the path to a relationship with someone, he ends it before it really gets started. It scares him and Kyzer terrifies him because no one has ever given him feelings like this before. Joel knows he shouldn't get involved with a client but the more he gets to know Ky the more he likes what he sees.
As Ky and Joel start to get closer by chance with work and because of quiet dinners both men realize that the feelings they share are much more than just on the surface. Kyzer can feel things stirring in him he hasn't felt in ages and Joel is trying to finally make time for himself by being with Kyzer. Can these two guys get over their fears and outside forces long enough to see if they have a real shot at this relationship?
Straight up, Kyzer stole my heart immediately!! The way his feelings worked were so beautiful, he isn't used to letting people in but somehow Joel worms his way into Ky's heart quite quickly. Then Joel, gah that man really needed to let go of some of his stress and as soon as he did it was like a whole other person emerged. So yeah, I loved this book and learning more about demisexuality was beautiful. Angel Ink has been my favorite book in this series by far and while I think this might be the last one in the series it ended on such a high note that I can't be mad.

Our favorite tattoo shop is spreading its wings in this last book in the Get Ink'd series, which I absolutely hate to see end. Maybe with a new location Ali Lyda will find it in her heart to let these men have the same happiness that Reagan's guys did. Hope, hope, fingers crossed! We're meeting Kyzer who is one of the new tattoo artists for "Get Ink 'd's new location in Los Angeles, and Joel manages the place.
This was a really beautiful and powerful love story. These two guys seem to be very opposite on the surface, but it turns out that they are both Just men who have always put others before themselves. Joel is the "organizer" and the "fixer" for his family, for his friends, for his job, you name it...he's there. He thinks he has no time for a relationship.
Kyzer is a beautiful representation of a demi guy. He's a big gentle man who loves with all his heart... when he dares to love. He's been hurt before...left and thrown away, all because of who he is. Maybe this time could be different for both guys. Kyzer and Joel both feel the pull toward each other, but of course there are a few initial misinterpretations that happens before they get the chance to really realize what they mean to each other.
The story is told from both of their POV's. You get all the emotional "feels" and emotions that they are experiencing. This is a very descriptive and sensual story. It was really wonderful seeing these two build more than just a physical relationship. Kyzer knew not only what he was, but also what he wanted. Seeing Joel's struggle will help you to understand why he made the choices he made. You can't blame either of them for struggling with the changes, but you will have to love how in the end they made the right decision to take the chance. Like the other 6 books in this series, it was a fantastic read. I do so hope that Ali lets this series continue.
DNF at the break up scene after finding the book ok before that but Joel was a douche and I couldn’t root for him after the way he dismissed Ky on the phone. I didn’t want a HEA and I wanted Kyzer to flip him off and send him packing .
I was a little hesitant because of the narrator. It did take me a few chapters to get into it but overall i really enjoyed it. I hope this isn't the end as I think we need more of the west coast.
Joel knows how to work hard, and how to look after everyone but himself. A surrogate parent to his younger siblings, his brother Danny’s spiraling out of control happens alongside his many, many work duties and his inconvenient crush on tattoo-artist Kyzer. Kyzer has struggles of his own-- he hasn’t had good luck with partners willing to take the time to understand his demisexuality or build a relationship with him. I liked the idea of the two of them together, and the chemistry, emotional and, eventually, physical is definitely there. I was less excited about the way they both tend to lash out at each other in vulnerable moments-- it definitely felt realistic, but the “bite your head off then apologise” formula repeated one too many times for comfort. There were definitely parts of the book I loved-- Ky and his roommate Chester’s relationship (I would read Chester’s book in a heartbeat) which is sweet, silly, and just everything you’d want for best friends with mutual interests and completely different personalities, for one. The larger universe of the tattoo shop and all the awesome people who work there, for another. Overall, while I didn’t always feel great about how Kyzer and Joel interact as a couple, I liked their HEA, their plan for the future, and the way they fit into the series in general.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have really enjoyed this entire series with Regan as the head of the group, and this is the first of the books that's now based in LA. Honestly, it was hard for me to get past the creepy voices of the side characters and the edits in narration to really enjoy the story.
I loved that Kyzer was demisexual because I feel like it was a good example of what it means to have to form a bond with someone before you feel sexual feelings towards them, and I felt Joel was truly a great partner for him. It was an interesting pairing with a lot of great scenes. I just couldn't get past the narration.
As an audio book, this was a pretty big miss for me. I enjoyed the story itself - particularly the exploration of tattoo artist Kyzer's demisexuality, and his unexpected bonding with and attraction to his manager Joel - but I couldn't get past the lackluster narration.
I never found a comfortable groove listening, and felt the narrator's uninspired performance (namely, odd character voices and muted emotions) detracted from an otherwise good story. Some overlooked audio quality mistakes added to the disappointment.
I really enjoyed the previous four Get Ink'd audio books, which featured a different narrator, so perhaps I became too accustomed to his engaging performances in this series. I received this free review copy audio book by request and have left this honest review voluntarily.
Joel and Kyzer were a beautiful yet unique couple. I loved how Joel got tongue tied when he was around Kyzer.
Kyzer’s demisexuality added a different spin which I really liked. He was sweet, a little sensitive and somewhat clueless when it came to figuring out Joel’s weird behaviour. He was used to people being upfront about their attraction to him whereas, Joel did it from a distance.
Fantastic book and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
“I voluntarily read this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*
Angel Ink was a fair book in the series Get Ink'd, but I enjoyed the majority of the series. It was enjoyable to see a softer side of big, strong, and muscular tattoo artists
I’ll start with the narrator. The narrator of the first book of the series wasn’t great. Then Connor Brown took over and I really liked him. The author has changed narrators a third time and it took me a while to settle into the story. And I did settle. Although I have to say I don’t particularly like the vocal choices for the character Chester, so I’ll be wary if it’s this narrator for his book. I’ll pick it up, because I’m enjoying the series, but I might cringe a bit. Now, often authors have no choice but to switch narrators if they want to keep producing the series and I’m glad Ms. Lyda brought this book to audio. I’ll miss Connor, but I can soldier on with David.
Okay, on to the book. Another suggestion to authors – remember the reader might only listen. Kyzer is really cool name – except I heard Kaiser which aside from The Usual Suspects, doesn’t have a great connotation for me. Didn’t detract from my enjoyment, but definitely something I noticed.
This series has left the previous location and moved to a new tattoo shop is opening up in LA. The heart of the action so to speak. And agent Joel is there to wrangle the talent. It’s a little inconvenient that he wants to wrangle Kyzer physically as well as career-wise. Kyzer had my heart. I love characters who are demi because many readers see themselves reflected. I also liked that Kyzer was unapologetic. If someone didn’t understand him, that was okay. Fortunately Joel was willing to be patient and let the relationship grow organically.
The men have more than a few external impediments. Kyzer was in prison, and he’s only just coming to reconcile what happened while he was on the inside. He truly blames himself for a tragedy that wasn’t his fault. Joel’s brother is on a self-destructive path that’ll end with him dying if he doesn’t get help. But is Joel the right person to give it, or are the brothers too enmeshed?
Underlying all these threads is the tattoo store, and I got to see some old favorites and that meant a lot. I’m enjoying this series and I was happy for the little surprise at the end with some relocations and joyous news. I knew Kyzer and Joel were going to get their happy ending, but there was just enough angst to make me happy. I can’t wait for the next book.
An outstanding read I need to admit that I didn’t really know a lot about demi sexual people and what it actually entailed for that person so this book has been quite educational for me and an eye-opener and you know what I think it’s a good way to be, stop rushing things find out who who it is you you want to date. I thoroughly enjoyed this book I really couldn’t put it down. I have been a huge fan of this series and it just keeps getting better and better with every read and I can’t wait for the next book. Demi sexual Kyzer has moved to LA to be part of the start up to getting the tattoo shop up and running. a franchise, him and Chester have gone up together and honest them two are just brilliant together. Chester is exactly what they both need. Kaiser first met Joel at the other tattoo shop and he couldn’t work out if the man thought he was scary or there was just something about him. He never tried to make eye contact which was such a shame because Kyzer thought Joel was pretty amazing. Joel is Kyzer's manager so therefore he feels he shouldn’t mix business with pleasure but he cannot stop thinking about Kyzer, he doesn’t know what it is about this man but he just turns him into a blushing blithering idiot. Joel has got so many things on his plate, yes he works so hard but he’s also got family issues and he’s not sure he can just take anything else on. But what would happen when these two finally did sit down and get to know each other?? An absolutely brilliant read I really like Joel and Kyzer I thought Kyzer was the kind of guy that you want to have in your friends he’s just amazing and he’ll go the extra mile to make sure family and friends are always protected. And Joel, Joel is always had to be the protector his mother was a single parent of four young children so it was up to him as the oldest really to take on the role of bringing up the kids and even as an adult he hasn’t let go. But maybe he needs to start now. These two are just brilliant I could read about them all day. It was great to see some old faces As well and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

I wasn't sure what to expect from the LA crew, but Kyzer and Joel's story was every bit as swoony as the others in this series! Despite how shy and non-confrontational Kyzer was, I felt like I got to know him really well in this story, and it was easy to fall in love with his calm, loyal personality. Listening to how he and Joel circled each other in the beginning was equal parts cute and cringey, but where their romance really won me over was when they shed their fear and decided to get to know each other outside the workplace. Their initial dates were absolutely adorable, and though they may have been slow to get physical that didn't make their connection feel any less explosive. The emotional depth of their relationship kinda blew my mind, and the small, quiet ways they cared for one anther were too sweet for words. This audio dealt with some pretty heavy themes (past loss of a loved one, consequences of addiction), but instead of being weighed down by guilt and trauma, Kyzer and Joel lifted each other up. It was wonderfully fulfilling to see the two of them support each other in their times of need, and even though they went through a rough patch in the middle I had faith they'd find their way back together. I appreciate how self-reflective and honest they were about their flaws and shortcomings during their reconciliation, and it was nice to see characters display maturity and openness instead of doubling down on their toxic behaviors. All in all, I think this might be my favorite romance of the series so far!

Angel Ink is the 7th installment in the Get Ink'd series and I just hope it's not the end. I absolutely love this series. I love how Ali incorporates the personal lives of all of the characters from previous books in this series. This book was well developed and Joel and Kyzer were just amazingly written. I loved how she brought a demisexual character into the books and even more how she explained the difference as she was introducing Kyzer's character. You can feel the instant chemistry even though she made this more of a slow burn.
Kyzer is a tattoo artist and gentle man. You wouldn't know it looking at him with his long hair and tattoos that is one of the more gentle men of Get Ink'd. When Get Ink'd opened another tattoo shop in LA, Joel is the talent agent that works with the show to make sure everything runs smoothly. When they first meet, Kyzer thinks Joel is afraid of him, when in reality he thinks he's hot. When they realize the chemistry between them is real, Kyzer is afraid Joel won't wait for him to develop feelings. He's been hurt before from someone he loved and he doesn't want to rush into a relationship unless he knows Joel is in it with him for good. The more time they spend together, the more they realize it won't take long to fall. Will Joel be willing to wait? Can Kyzer get beyond his past?
I would highly recommend this book for anyone that has read this series. I don't feel it can be read as a standalone. It would help to read the other books in the series.
I received this ARC for my honest opinion from Gay Romance Reviews.
Let me start my saying I am a fan of Ali Lyda. This is my second book by this author and my second in the series. I am not sure how much control the author has on the covers, but I have now come to realize they do an injustice to the descriptions she paints with her words.
That aside, this book was as captivating as the last book. In this story, we see more of Kyzer and Joel. Joel, Mateo’s agent, is now taking an active role as a producer of Get Ink’ed LA. He is very drawn to the shy Kyzer from day one, but he tries to maintain professional boundaries as Kyzer’s manager.
Kyzer on the other hand is accustomed to people staring at him. Between his piercings, tattoos, and model good looks, how can you blame them. So when the usually calm, cool, and collected Joel becomes flustered in his presence he immediately thinks the worst. Lucky for him everyone else senses Joel’s interest and pushes Joel to act. When Joel makes a clumsy effort at flirting, Kyzer puts two and two together and begins to pursue Joel in earnest. Of course they have their respective issues - Joel has an irresponsible younger brother and Kyzer is still morning his deceased mother.
I enjoyed this story of Joel and Kyzer and their journey. I truly hope there is another installment in this series. I would love to see Chester find love. Hint, hint, hint (LOL)

This is another excellent book in the Get Ink'd series. This is the story of Joel and Kyzer. Joel is a business manager and deeply involved in the running of the show out in LA. He met Kyzer through his friend and client Mateo. He was immediately taken by Kyzer when he first meets him. But Joel has a run, no getting involved with clients. Even though he has a crush on Kyzer that he can't seem to get over. It severely impacts his ability to talk or interact with Kyzer. Kyzer on the other hand is a tattoo artist who has moved out to LA to be in the spin off TV show and tattoo studio. He is a large bodied man while at the same time his very shy. He believes that Joel doesn't like him because of the way Joel avoids interacting with him. He is about to find out that he is 100% wrong in that idea. And Joel is about to find out that Kyzer doesn't jump into relationships. His emotions both mentally and physically move at a much slower pace. Trust must be built on both side for this relationship to work. I really enjoyed reading this story. Joel and Kyzer have excellent chemistry. The story is well written and very easy to read. I read the who book from cover to cover in one sitting. If you like a slow burn romance with a few unexpected surprises thrown in, you will not be disappointed.

⚠️ brief mentions of drugs and alcohol abuse and off page overdose but not MC. This may also be a minor trigger for anyone who has a troubled/selfish/manipulative family member and/or family members that are enablers.
I was given a free audio copy from the author and the GRR arc team for review.
This can be read/listen to as a standalone. I have only listened to 5 and 6 before this one. I really enjoyed this story and of those 3 that I have read or listened to this was my favorite. I listened to it from start to finish and did not want to stop. It had my full attention the entire time. It was a sweet and heartwarming story. I thought the portrayal of being demi was realistically portrayed with the slow burn relationship development. The characters were both great. They had amazing chemistry. There is great word development that makes me want to go back and read the books I missed. If it wasn't for the brother I would have rated this 5 stars. With all the other dynamics going on I feel like that character and their drama could have been excluded and I wouldn't have missed it. It still would have been a great story with the work dynamic and I would have enjoyed it even more but that's maybe just due to personal bias. I also thought the one major scene at the end and the ending itself felt a little rushed.
5 stars for the narration. The narration was great. He had a pleasant reading voice and kept a good pace. He used different voices for the characters and expressed the emotions well without overacting.
We don’t often find many people who selflessly put the needs of others before their own desires. It would make a beautiful world if that could happen more often. Yet Joel and Kyzer do just that without having to even think about it. It’s part of who they are.
So when Kyzer and Joel feel the pull of attraction toward each other, they will brush their feelings aside and assume the wrong thing. Kyzer is gorgeous but when Joel acts uncomfortable around him, he makes a wrong assumption that there is no interest. Joel lets his job and professionalism be his excuse for not allowing things to get personal. Neither at first realizes how much they need each other and how deep their feelings really are.
There are tons of emotions coming from this story line with the author’s magical words, and the pictures she paints in the reader’s mind make it vivid and real. The story is beautiful, the characters are amazing, and the reader is fully invested in their happiness. Grab your copy and open your heart. I have not read one of this author’s books that hasn’t touched me in a positive way. You won’t want to miss this one.
This can NOT be the end of these amazing men! Kyzer, was over 6 feet of tatted and pierced of heavenly man, but was extremely conflict averse because of his size. Because of his insecurities, he was extremely shy. Ky, is demisexual, so it took him awhile to intimately get to know a person. Chester is his roommate, equally inked and more pierced. They understood that they were just friends. Joel, is not only marketing, but he is executive producer of the new shop. At the going away, Joel and Kyzer exchanged a 'look'. Kyzer thought it was fear. Joel, was intrigued by the contract of Ky's size and his demeanor, and he found him, adorable! Joel, had to fight his attraction fully aware of his position as the EP for the team. Joel is also dealing with his younter brother, Danny. Will Joel and Kyzer get over their miscommunications which seem to get more complex from their first meeting? Will Kyzer understand Joel's mixed signals? Can Joel relax and just be a man? Will Kyzer see an end to his relationship drought? Great story. These characters are complex and absolutely fun, sympatico and adorable. Excellent series. Well done! I don't even know how to explain this. But I feel like the author used Kyzer's demisexuality as a way to make the book less hot. There was no sexiness to this book until about 60% and even the couple sex scenes it did have felt kinda rushed. I feel like Kyzer just flipped a switch a lil over halfway into the book. Because of the demi most of the book was just their background info. Not really much of a story plot. Another thing was it seemed like all of sudden its their first day of work and before u know it in a matter off a few chapters. They've already filmed the entire first season. There was hardly any mention of "as the weeks went on" or " 2 weeks later". Idk i feel like this book was a disservice to the other books in the series. It was kinda boring. Not that hot and the ending didn't make much sense. The author had the opportunity to make one sex scene hot as hell (fisting) but I think it fell flat and was rushed with not much details of the actual act itself. Overall this book was ok. I kept hoping it would get better but it fell flat. If you've read the others in the series i wouldn't read this one. You will just be disappointed.
Angel Ink is the seventh book in the Get Ink’d series and the second one to be set within the L.A. spin-off shop. This book can be easily read as a standalone, but I do enjoy the other books in the series and think they are worth reading to fully immerse into the universe.
Kyzer is one of the tattoo artists hired on to staff the L.A. shop and star in the spin-off reality show. Joel is the producer in charge of making the reality show a hit while also trying to keep his family from falling apart. The last thing both Kyzer and Joel expect to find with each other is a deep attraction that continues to grow despite the obstacles. The romance between Joel and Kyzer is full of tension at first, but I like the slow steady growth of it, especially the emphasis put on dating and getting to know each other. Kyzer identifies as demisexual so it was wonderful to see how respectful Joel was of his sexuality and how they both worked on the relationship. There were some angsty moments, but nothing that lasted too long, and the happy ending was worth all the angst.
I want Joel and Kyzer in my life! What a powerful love story of two people who seem very opposite on the surface but are both Just men who put others before themselves. Joel is an organizer and a fixer for his family, friends, his job, you name it.. No time for a relationship. Kyzer is a beautiful representation of a demi guy. He is a big gentle soul who loves with all his heart when he loves. He has been hurt before and left due to who he is. Kyzer and Joel both feel a pull toward each other, but there are a few initial misinterpretations that happen before they get the chance to really realize what they mean to each other. Told from both of their POV's you get all the feels and emotions they are experiencing. This is a very descriptive and sensual story. I received an ARC of this book and I recommend for those enjoy a real world slow burn romance that tugs at your heart. You want all the happiness for these two!
Get Ink'd series just gets better and better from each story to the next. This would be ok to read as a stand alone but it's nice to read the books prior to really get the Get Ink'd experience. I really enjoyed this matchup tho. Gentle giant meets a chaotic workaholic. This was indeed a opposites attract romance. You would think this would be a slowburn due to Kyzer sexuality status but once he got to know Joel and realized that Joel was crushing hard for the him. this became a page turner...their relationship was sweet and oh so steamy. There was a little drama but nothing that would take away from the sweetness that was them. I enjoyed it from start to end and hopefully we get to explore more from the new characters at Get Ink'd in future books.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I met Kyzer and Joel for the first time in Forbidden Ink - which I loved - and their encounter there was interesting. So I was hopeful for this book and it did not disappoint. I loved how they worked up to their first date. The dates were fun too Unfortunately the timing was a bit off for me, as I would have loved to see more of the as a couple but they worked nevertheless.
As I was lucky to get an ARC for the audiobook, I was looking forward to get to know David Piper as narrator and I was more than pleasantly surprised. If I had not known that he was the only narrator, I would have thought there were two. He did both voices perfectly and I loved that both characters were easy to differentiate and sounded as themselves from each perspective .
Now I really hope for Chesters book ... maybe it will be a MMM book *pretty pretty please*
Angel Ink is another great addition to the Get Ink'd series. Joel and Kyzer are perfect together and they are as opposite as night and day. Kyzer is a sweet, gentle, man and demisexual. Joel is his boss and the type of person that feels like he has to help everyone. Kyzer is unaware that is Joel is attracted to him but he notices that he's blunt and business-like when he's with him. The two get to know one another and start dating until something tragic happens with Joel's brother. There's miscommunication and misunderstanding and the two break up. Their book is sweet, romantic, slow-build, great characters, angst, and their sexy times are hot. You can't help but hope that these two get their happily ever after.
I have loved every book this author writes and this did not disappoint!! Kyzer has always been looking for his love and never thought it would happen. He has known being a demi would make it difficult. But him and Joel have crossed paths and he has always thought Joel thought he was a scary man or just hated him. Joel is a control freak and just wants everything in order and helps everyone he can before he does anything for himself. His mind is there are rules for a reason. But what happens when the rules get blurred and he becomes happy and starts to enjoy life. I loved this book from page 1 until the end and loved seeing the other get ink'd crew in it as well!! Well done!!

So I’m a bit sad because I just found out that this is the last book in the series! So I’m truly sad it happened to end but it was definitely an amazing book to end it with.
Kyzer and Joel are the sweetest! Joel has the biggest crush on Kyzer and he never knows what to say around him. So he runs away. Kyzer is confused by Joel, but also intrigued with his very busy manager. Once they both finally figure out they have feelings for each other things in Hoel’s life get turned upside down and they have to figure out how to make a relationship work with all of the uncertainty. This book was super sweet and heartwarming with a bit of an edge. A perfect combination. I’m gonna miss these boys!

Another fabulous book in this series- I’m thinking these two mc’s might be my favourites.... You don’t have to read the other books in this series to follow the story as they are all stand-alone. You get to see some recurring characters though which is the thing I like most about a good series. I was totally absorbed in the story and stayed up late to finish the book. The characters always feel real and the dialogue is smooth and natural. The romance is heartwarming, the love scenes heart-racing and the anguish heartbreaking. It ends on an HEA with the hint of more to come.

Two men who are more alike than what you see on the outside. Placing the needs of others before themselves, are what Joel and Kyzer do best. Who better to be the love of your life than someone who mimics your love of compassion.
So entrenched with the needs of others, neither man had time initially had time for love. Or so they thought.
Their backstories were so well detailed and made a difference in the flow of the story's depth. Was also nice to revisit some of the characters in previous installments.
