As the Ceph colony on Earth spreads out across the globe, the Humans and Earth-Born Ceph fight a secret battle for humanity’s future survival.
Our world hangs in a precarious balance between forces both subtle and terrifyingly powerful.
As the Alliance strives furiously to balance its own factions, monsters both human and inhuman threaten to bring that balance crashing down.
The World-Ship Swimmer in Relativity is close to arrival. It brings the galactic Ceph civilization back to Earth. If the Alliance cannot forge a relationship with human society before then, if violence is triumphant, it will mean the end of Earthlings as we know them, both Ceph and Human.
Time is short, and the odds for survival are long.

Reviews for The Ceph: Reborn
Five Star!
“This is a gripping take of first contact from an alien POV. There is a really unusual take on uplift which drives the first half of the novel. I will definitely follow this author.”
Five Star!
“Thoroughly enjoyed this book and wasn’t able to put it down. It was an interesting story, and very believable, too. Looking forward to the sequel.”
"The Ceph: Alliance" by Matthew Poehler is the second book in "The Ceph" series. It takes the readers on a journey filled with political intrigue, intergalactic alliances, and the never-ending quest for power. Poehler's storytelling skills shine through as he weaves together suspense, action, and thought-provoking themes to create an engaging narrative. This book is a continuation of the story that began in "Reborn" and will leave you wanting more.
There were many areas where the action grabbed and held my attention, but then he slowed the story, giving me a chance to catch my breath.
The Ceph: Alliance is a must-read for fans of the genre. I am eagerly anticipating the next part of this captivating series.
I give this novel five stars.
I listened to his audio version on Google Play. AI read the novel, and Google did a decent job producing it
The Ceph Alliance 2 has fun characters in this creative continuation. Instant Ansible communication enables a wide-spread, stable alliance of Cephalopod with other species across many worlds. Eco-friendly Ceph continue their work to protect planet Earth while attempting a cooperative relationship with regular and uplifted humans.
Favorite developing characters include Jack, a sensitive Native American who feels the power of Ceph Ansibles buried deep in the ground. Anemone/Mona is a young Ceph Octopus in love with a Human. Axios is an evil genius trying to damage the Ceph/Human Ansible Company. He’s a great villain! Descriptive passages enhance story: “Against the dark ocean, it was as if her (octopus) friend was a shining nebula of stars.” Well written!
Story continues to improve and be enguaging. 1at book had great concept but some story details that did not mesh well, so a fair amount of just go with the story has to be used. This book flows better and is more enguaging, the story arcs are being developed well and the story is easy to follow and enjoyable. The main characters are further developed but still have the knowledge that they can be snatched away at any time by accident or attack, no one is immune. Seems to create the right amount of tension and suspense. The concepts seem even better though out and developed then book one. Over all an excellent addition to the story line.
The saga of the Ceph continues with another solid entry with book #2 in the Ceph series. Well written with good character development for most characters. The whole concept of the Ceph civilization is quite amazing and I’m really surprised at the development of the Alliance between the humans the Ceph. Some annoying editing artifacts continue in this book with text size, spacing, and color: sometimes the text appears gray on my iPhone Kindle app and is harder to read. Looking forward to the next installment.
A really good follow up. The story builds on the first in the series (Reborn) and expands it into new areas. It keeps the positive energy of the first while adding in a touch more realism and cynicism, and deals with some of the practicalities of this unique take on first contact. It introduces some great new characters - some you love and some you love to hate - and explores some really interesting dynamics between the old and new earthlings. I'm already excited for the third book!
