What is a pirate without his ship? Without the sea?
I sacrificed everything to save Ashley. Now we are hiding out while I build a new ship, a new life for myself. It’s paradise here on the island. Sparkling water and lush greenery. A beautiful woman by my side. But the threat of danger grows closer. The net tightens.. We are at risk every second we stay here, but there’s nowhere to run. Even the ocean won’t save us now.

“You should be embarrassed,” I hiss at her. “Fucking my fingers while you cry about your daddy.”
Tears run silent down her face, and she whimpers again. It's a half-moan now, but Ashley swallows hard and lifts her chin. “I can miss him,” she manages, “and want you.”
"Don't," I growl into her face, thrusting my fingers with more force, unable to stop. “Don’t pretend it’s me you want. Don’t lie to yourself.”

What a perfect ending to Poseidon and Ashley's story! I have loved these two all the way along but seeing Poseidon's emotional vulnerability and acceptance of his love for Ashley just pulled at my heartstrings and even made me cry. Poseidon had so many layers to his personality and we get to understand even more of his back story and why he felt so deeply connected to the sea. And Ashley just provided the perfect balance as she wouldn't let him withdraw when he was dealing with adversity. And I absolutely loved the interactions of the three brothers! When Hades held Poseidon back from the sea, I bawled so hard. This book really felt like a bit of an epilogue for the other two trilogies as well which was amazing! I am loving Amelia Wilde's writing and her dark and steamy mythology books! Don't miss out on this series!
Devil May Care is the sexy and thrilling conclusion to the Devil trilogy. Amelia Wilde gives readers an unforgettable and all-consuming story with this dark and edgy trilogy. Poseidon and Ashley's story is one that's full of danger, intrigue, and unexpected love.
“That’s right, princess. I’m the villain. Don’t you ever fucking forget it.”
Picking up where the last book left off, Ashley and Poseidon find themselves in new territory as they navigate each other and their current circumstances. The danger still threatens them both and the author does such a great job conveying the tension and uncertainty that constantly surrounds them. Things heat up even more between them sexually, and the intimate scenes were edgy and well written. There was so much emotion in this story and I loved how hard Poseidon and Ashley fought for each other.
I’ll take him broken. I’ll take him any way I can.
This really was a fantastic trilogy and I love the way the author ended it. Ashley and Poseidon are perfect for each other and the love that developed between them was a beautiful one. It was fantastic seeing Poseidon's brothers again and I really love the way they were there for each other despite their tumultuous past. This story had action, suspense, sizzling hot sex and a fantastic plot. I am such a huge fan of this author and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for her readers next.
Wow!!! Devil May Care is so epically fantastic!!!! It picks up where Deal with the Devil left off, on the island. OMG I was on the edge of through most of this book. Poseidon is really not meant to be on land. It makes him feel off and it brings back a lot of the torment from his childhood. Oh those scenes!!! My heart broke for him and his brothers but it gives so much insight into why they are the way they are. My heart also broke for Ashley as she dealt with all that she was feeling. They were there for each other through it all and sometimes that meant some seriously hot AF sexy times *fans self*. At the end of the day, it is their love for each other that heals them. I cried happy tears.
There is more than just heartache. With Hades and Zeus in the picture, at times, there was definitely much to chuckle at. While the three always came off as hating each other, they didn't. Those scenes touched my heart deeply.
5 LOVE, LOVE, LOVE STARS!! I loved this trilogy...every book was perfection. Poseidon and Ashley will touch every part of your heart. This is a reread series....it is so good. If you haven't started, do it now.
185 pages that weirdly felt really long while not all that much happened. Overall I'd give this story 3 stars but split like it is, this part was definitely the weaker 1/3. I skimmed a lot of it to be honest because I didn't really feel very invested. Ashley and Poseidon are already together so there's no tension and the loose ends weren't really that exciting or surprising.
Also the convenient "things happen that we can't really be bothered to write about so we'll tell you about them while a person is in a coma" plot device was used. It seemed pretty lazy to me seeing as that was a fairly big thing for that person to just slumber through and then they wake up and it's all ta-da! We fixed this while you slept!! No need for many details on how we did it but we did.
What a captivating and tumultuous conclusion to this passion-filled, dark and intriguing trilogy! What started as an obsession with a gorgeous cover has led to my consumption by this captivating mythological reimagining- the god of the sea and the love that brings him to his knees. This trilogy is full of action and feels- the epic conclusion picking right up in the thick of Ashley and Poseidon’s new uncertain reality- one fraught with loss and emotional tension as they navigate these new proverbial waters, leaving the pirate god without his ship, tethered to dangerous enemies that will require a unique force to defeat.
Our story begins in a turbulent, melancholic emotional fog- and I really loved how Amelia slowed down her normal breakneck action pace to have us really drown in the feelings of loss and uncertainty. This is so much more than the loss of a ship- this is about the loss of identity, about stripping a man bare, loosening his tether to the sea to expose him fully. Amelia presents this leg of this story with such emotional integrity and intensity, With a woman who refuses to let him fully drown beside him. Of course, midway through, the pace accelerates- all the nail biting action, gripping suspense, and the passionate, erotic desperation that Amelia so infamously writes.
At the core, though, this story harkens to what made these legendary myths so profound- the power of our own humanity in face of the greatest adversity and the indomitable power of love. Their love may be depraved and carnal, twisted and perverse in places, tantalizingly turbulent- but it is unconquerable. A love that launches a thousand ships...or here, a love worthy of sacrificing one, one worthy of unleashing the heart and soul of a tormented man . Ashley and Poseidon fight for each other until the bitter end, and I was hanging on every word.
Fans of the prior two trilogies will also appreciate the opportunity to dwell just a little longer with the other couples that have twisted your mind and captured your hearts as well as see some beautifully scribed and emotionally impactful moments of brotherhood- brava for such full circle closure. A epic, albeit bittersweet, end to this passionate take on the mythic legend.
I'm fairly new to Amelia Wilde's books. In this final installment, Ashley is having a hard time coming to terms of what her father did to her and her mother. And Poseidon?...getting land sickness. Mind you, I haven't read any previous trilogies/series in this same universe, but readers who have, will love Poseidon's family interaction. I liked this ending to the series, but can't help wanting more for the conclusion. Like something felt like it was missing from this last part. I'm glad I finished this trilogy, because I had to know how it ended.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
From the very beginning, of the first series with Hades, I have been a huge fan of these trilogies. I love them all for different reasons. However, Poseidon was the one that managed to truly steal my heart over Hades and Zeus. He was special. His story was special and this conclusion was perfect for him.
As abrupt as Poseidon could be at times, he had just as many moments where his vulnerability showed. One of the things that I had wanted since clear back at the beginning with Hades, was a chance to have a better understanding of what had truly happened in the past that brought them to now. There were glimpses and parts but finally in this one, my questions were answered. My heart hurt at what happened and the individual repercussions that it had on these brothers. I had wanted these brothers to truly find peace in their lives but also with each other. Each time they would interact or have a phone conversation, I found myself smiling and giddy with joy. The author gave me more than I could have hoped for in regard to the brothers and in this book.
The author continued the story with just the right amount of suspense and action. The continual build-up between Ashley and Poseidon was also intense. I loved how much calm to Poseidon's day-to-day living that Ashley offered him. There was a depth to their connection that I loved. She instinctively understood what he needed and how to go about offering him that. Their steamy times were fire and Poseidon definitely lived up to being a dirty bossy man.
My only complaint with the story was I wanted more finality when it came to Demeter in the story. Especially, with the way that some of the backstory came to light giving reasons as to why she has behaved the way that she has through all three of these separate trilogies. Other than that, this book was everything that I could have wanted and more. I had no doubt that the author would do that though because since discovering her work, I have become a huge fan. I am anxious for what she has hinted will be next.
The first two books in this trilogy were amazing but the final book was so boring I found :( I skimmed through half the book just to see how it ended. It ended with a HEA which I’m glad. It was just too dull for me
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars! Trilogy complete. I loved getting back in Poseidon and Ashley lives again. Really liked the epilogue and the meet up with his brothers Hades and Zeus and there families.
This ended up being a great Trilogy and I'm really happy dove into it.
Please note, in classic Katie fashion, I did not read Hades or Zeus' books. In my defense, I read the blurb for this one and just dove in. Didn't really do any research. So it's not my fault....really its not. Would I have started at the beginning even if I knew?
This book is fast-paced and enthralling the whole time. I won't lie, Ashley had me questioning continuing in that first book, but the story and writing held me. She ended up turning around in book 2 and 3.
When I say this trilogy is fast-paced, I'm serious. There is a lot going on, and it moved from right in to the next drama after something was resolved. I listened to the audio, which was stellar, so I could have missed it, but I don't feel like things got resolved with their sister. Is there another book?
Anyway, I absolutely adore the ending, and I'm definitely going to start Hades book before I do the last little novella.
Devil May Care by Amelia Wilde brings all the feels and chemistry and action together for the epic ending of Poseidon and Ashley's trilogy. I am having a bittersweet feeling because I spent such glorious reading time with Poseidon, Hades and Zeus and their twisted love stories and I will miss them. Badly.
Poseidon made a deal with the devil to save Ashley. The pirate kind lost his kingdom aka his ship. And now he is bound in Haven Island with Ashley till a new ship is built and he figures out a way to escape the enemies for once and all. These are turbulent times and Ashley doesn't know how to bring Poseidon back. This is going to take a whole army of Poseidon's family.
Usually I instantly get hooked to the stories by Amelia Wilde but this one took me a bit of time. It didn't pick up for me till 40% mark. The part before that was more about Poseidon's heartbreaking pain for losing his ship and the life he loved so much. It was dark. Gloomy. Like I was drowning in Poseidon's grief. Ashley was into her own pain too. The speed was slow. And it picked up pace after 40% and I was once again reminded why I love her writing so much. The emotions were powerful knocking me out. The action kept me on edge. And their passion was beyond depraved and filthy. It was their love language. It's how they showed how much they need each other. I don't know if I can use the word Bromance in respect to these brothers because they are too rugged, crooked and over the top alpha. But their dynamics was so amazing. This story is how a dysfunctional broken family who suffered trauma and abuse and survived to become a strong cohort. It was like culmination of a long journey and I was living for it. Poseidon did hurt Ashley and pushed her back but Ashley pushed in her own way till she can break him down.
Devil May Care by Amelia was suspense, passion and emotions packed in one solidly written story.
A thrilling ending to this roller coaster of a trilogy from Amelia. Having been used to action from the first page of the previous two books, the action in this one didn't start until around half way through. The first half of the book was Poseidon's back story explaining his tortured childhood, his hate for his foster father and the strange and distant relationships with his two brothers and one sister. Now we know why Poseidon is ruthless and cruel and doesn't allow many people to get close to him.
After saving Ashley and losing his ship Poseidon is stranded on land on a beautiful island but he longs for the sea, the only place that feels like home to him. He is unable to find any kind of peace even with Ashley takes his restlessness out on Ashley in some hot, sexy but sometimes cruel ways, but she understands his moods better than he thinks. At the same time Ashley is going through her own hell remembering what her father did to her and her mother.
Once the action starts it is exciting and non stop, this whole series would make a great movie as Amelia's writing is so good you can see everything playing out before your eyes. It is dark, gritty and horrifying. Poseidon's enemies are out to get him again but his two brothers come to his rescue and helps him to get back to sea and live another day.
The best part of the story is Poseidon's realization that he has brothers who will go to any lengths and call in many favours to help and support him no matter what happened between them in their childhood. Once he gets over this hurdle and accepts the truth that he is no longer alone in the world then he is ready for his happy ever after with Ashley. Ashley has been an incredible heroine in this trilogy taking everything that Poseidon has thrown at her but knowing that brick by brick she was dismantling the wall he had built around him.
This trilogy is way up there on my list of the best of the year so far and deserves five stars and more.
OMG! The final piece of Poseidon and Ashley’s trilogy kept me up way past my bedtime and even though I'm feeling tired and sluggish, I have no regrets! LOL As I said this is the third book of a trilogy and you must start at book one, The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea and then read, A Deal with the Devil before you read this book. Otherwise, you will be lost, confused and simply not get the complete tale and that would be tragic. I refuse to say too much for fear of spoilers but I will say this; You best hang on for this edge of your seat, jaw-on-the-floor, steal your heart and leave you totally breathless escapade that will have your temperature rising, tears falling and your heart needing some desperate TLC from the major case of the feels and almost fatale swoon it is going to get hit with. I am posting an independent and impartial review.
Holy smokes, it's the perfect conclusion to Poseidon and Ashley's story. Poseidon has my heart completely. He is such a complex man, a tortured soul who doesn't feel like he deserves happiness and tries so hard to build walls of ice around his heart. But Ashley brings down all his defenses. She chooses Poseidon despite everything that happened between them, showing him unconditional love. She becomes his anchor, his refuge, his home and shows him that happily ever after is possible. The action is faced paced, gripping and intense. The plotline is suspenseful, with twists and turns, and characters that will steal your heart and never give it back. I loved every word and I highly recommend the entire series.
What an ending, and I’m not ready to say goodbye to Poseidon yet! He is my favorite of the brothers. I absolutely love the dynamic between Poseidon and Ashley during this book. I love that she could be strong for him and do everything she could to hold him up, when he wanted to fall. He did still maintain his dominating ways though. I love how all three brothers came together, how even from the grave Ashley’s mom came through with the win, how Poseidon finds home. This book is amazing, along with the rest of the series, and I would absolutely recommend it!
Poseidon and Ashley’s emotional and passion filled story held me captivated from the beginning! I loved this entire trilogy and these characters have become one of my favorite couples. An unforgettable and thrilling read!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
What is a pirate without his ship? Without the sea? I sacrificed everything to save Ashley. Now we are hiding out while I build a new ship, a new life for myself. It's paradise here on the island. This is the third and final book in The Devil Trilogy by Amelia Wilde. I am so sad about that as I have loved spending all this time with Poseidon and Ashley. If you have not started this series then you need to begin with The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea and then A Deal with the Devil. Then you will be ready for Devil May Care. This book picks up where book two ended and we find that Ashley and Poseidon are on land on Haven Island. A place that has its own rules and everyone is safe and sound unless someone decides to break that rule and then it is every man for himself. He is building a new ship. But as you can imagine a pirate on land is not a very good thing and Poseidon is feeling that down to his very bone and is about to lose it. The man can't even sleep and all it ever does is rain. That alone would drive me crazy. But you know that he has a relationship with the sea and when he goes to her he is able to stop the rain!!! He is trying to get his crew all to the island and the new ship is taking forever to build. But there is also danger lurking and this danger is not good at all. We also get Hades and Zeus in this book and I was so happy to see them again. It has been to long but Poseidon has lessons to learn about family and they may just teach him what that means. And then there is the quest that Poseidon has been on to put back together his passed on moms rosary. Can he do it. If he can't what will happen? Will Ashley stay with him or will he push her away? You have to read to find out and you are not going to be disappointed. This book is amazing and I loved every second of it and was more emotional about it than I thought I would be. Do not miss this series.
God DAMN, Amelia Wilde is killing me with the covers for this trilogy. The coloring, the models, the ever-present sea … add to that the edgy, tumultuous love story between Ashley and her modern-day pirate, Poseidon – and I’m OBSESSED!
This last instalment of the trilogy picks up where things left off – in the emotional, melancholic vapor left by the showdown in the previous book. Seeing Poseidon struggle on land, off-balance and drowning in the heartbreak of his childhood, in the loss of his true identity was as intense and excruciating as it was necessary for his character growth. And Ashley. So strong and mature and simply exactly what Poseidon needs.
While the first legs of the trilogy were filled to the brim with action and suspense, this one focuses more on Poseidon’s backstory and healing – even on reconciling with his brothers, Zeus and Hades, who he pretends to hate. Oh, don’t get me wrong, there’s still plenty of battles and fights, and Poseidon is still his dirty-mouthed, intense, possessive alpha-a-hole self, just with this added layer of emotional complexity – story- as well as character-wise.
And the sex. Good lawd. The. SEX. I’ve mentioned it before, but I will say it again: This woman can write sex scenes like no other. Mean and passionate and carnal and desperate and depraved. *fans self*
Pirates. Kidnapping. Ransom. The ever-present open sea. A pierced, broody, deeply tortured hero. A small age gap. The mysterious air always surrounding Poseidon. A power-couple sacrificing everything and fighting for each other until the very end. Suspension and gloriously smutty scenes galore. A wild, raw and emotional voyage, which, sadly, has now come to an end. Sigh. . . . . There’s one tiny complaint I need to make though about Demeter. Given all the havoc she wreaked in all three trilogies, I would have wished for some more closure for her story arc, especially with the additional backstory this final book provided.
I’m writing the reviews late, or actually I’m reading back to back again so yeah! 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒍 𝑴𝒂𝒚 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒆 by is the conclusion of 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒍 trilogy and Poseidon and Ashley’s story.
This one was such an emotional read for me! Between Poseidon fighting the demons of his past, his struggles after the Trident was gone, his relationship with his brothers, that bond strengthening, the whole heart wrenching quest to find his mother, Ashley’s absolute and unwavering love and support… I can go on forever really!
Add to the emotional bits, the fighting scenes and the plot twists, it really was the perfect way to bring it all together!
I think… I THINK, in my hurry to know what’s going to happen, I think there’s a possibility I overlooked the part we find out what happens to the big bad at the end. I mean, unless we’re getting more books (I really hope we do) this one is the last book of the last series… so the big bad being left unchecked is making me question if I missed anything, please DM me if you read it! I would go back and search, except I’m knee deep reading what came before Poseidon’s trilogy, and in typical Dania fashion, instead of going back to the actual beginning and reading the trilogy for Hades then the one for Zeus, I did the opposite. So I’m actually reading this world, trilogy 3 (Poseidon,) 2 (Zeus,) 1 (Hades). 🤦🏻♀️
I thought that would bother me, but the bits of spoilers about the brothers’ relationship and the development is making me more and more curious to go back in time bit by bit (if that makes sense.)
One more thing, Caspian… I want him, where/how can I get him because DAMN! Amelia, can I call dibs please 🥺🙏🏼
This is the third story in Poseidon and Ashley's journey and it focused on identity. Who is a pirate without his ship? Who is a woman when her dream life is shattered? I think Ashley was able to bounce back from her sorrow much better than Poseidon. He struggled to deal with his loss and cope with his emotions. He questioned so many things and it resulted in him lashing out like a wounded animal. Add to that, it seems that some people were going in for the kill knowing that Poseidon was vulnerable. Ashley was the light guiding Poseidon. She was strength and gentleness all in one.
The story certainly highlights that no matter how far or fast you run, you always have to face the past. No matter how much you might not want it. Poseidon had been focused on one goal and when that came to an end, he had to face who he was after it was done and what home meant to him. I loved seeing him with his brothers. It was my favourite part of the story. I thought that there might be a big confrontation with one particular nasty character but it didn't happen. I was a bit let down by this but the other elements in the story made up for it. This story was my favourite of the three in this trilogy. It was emotive and action packed. It had playful banter and serious discussions. Amelia Wilde has done a great job with this series and these characters.
This final book in the Devil Trilogy is a beautiful deep dive into Posideon. Repeatedly, we have witnessed his connection to the ocean; this bond is palpable from the first book. In Devil May Care, we see how devastating it is when Posideon is not on the sea and how much Ashley has come to love him and wants to help him. I really loved this concluding novel in this series; it reveals so much more about Posideon, his relationships with Hades and Zeus, and his growing relationship with Ashley.
I felt like I was struggling with Posideon at the beginning of the book as he seemed to be fading away as he was not on the sea. His lack of sleep and inability to control his emotions. It was all overwhelming for him. Ashley was like a gentle balm for him to cling to, and she tries to help him as much as he will let her. What is best about this book? Without a doubt, when Zeus and Hades show up and the brothers do what brothers do.
Posideon and Ashley's story was so much more than I expected, and the ending was everything. The steam level in this book is hot, but it does not detract from the story. I did not want this series to end, but I feel we may see the brothers again as Demeter is still out there. If I'm wrong, let me live in my world to continue to hope to see Hades, Zeus, and Posideon again.
Oh My Gods and Goddesses! Amelia knocked the finale of Poseidon and Ashley’s story out of the park.it deserves more than five stars. She has had me hooked on these Gods since Hades. This last book in this trilogy took me all over with my emotions. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to throw my kindle across the room and curse at it. I have a big book hangover. The things you find out in this book will tear at your heart. Ashley has grown so much in this last book and she is standing next to Poseidon no matter what. My heart thumped so loud during this book. I was on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what happened next. I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting. This trilogy is so dang fantastic. I love Hades, but dang Poseidon gives him a run for his money. I am completely drained. I love these two and the connection they have. It is stronger anything imaginable and no one can take them apart. Ashley is his home and is the one who can keep him steady. Do not, I repeat do not miss out on Poseidon and Ashley’s story. #bookhangoveralert
Home, where is home to you? For Poseidon he always thought home was the sea, but in this final installment of this trilogy he finds out that is not really the case.
Amelia Wilde has given us an action packed conclusion to another series and it was the perfect way to wrap everything up.
As with the rest of this story, Poseidon and Ashley’s relationship isn’t a sweet, unicorn and rainbow sort of relationship. It’s raw, dark and twisty and it might be triggering to some, but if you made it to this last book then there is nothing new or shocking for you, just more of the good stuff.
Amelia writes in such a visual way you will almost be able to smell the salt water off the sea while you read. She gives us fractured heroes and reluctantly strong heroines and you will not be able to forget them if you try.
This series must be read in order, but again this is not a hardship because her writing is just that good! Go go out and get lost at sea with Poseidon you won’t regret it!
OMG!! I wasn’t ready! I wasn’t ready for Poseidon and Ashley’s story to end but damn was it a fantastic ending. Everything between Poseidon and Ashley bleeds through the pages as you read. Ashley was his saving grace the only one that can pull him from the darkness the only one that truly completes him. The conclusion to Poseidon and Ashley’s story will have you captured from the very first page all the way through that fantastic epilogue. We get all the action all the suspense and all the drama that we have in the first two books but we also get a fantastic treat having all the brothers together and working side by side! It was absolutely perfect and such a great family unit! I am so sad to see these characters go but I’m hoping we will get glimpses of them in future stories! Highly recommend this series!!!
Devil May Care is book #3 and the final exhilarating conclusion in The Devil Trilogy by Amelia Wilde. Poseidon and Ashley's story is dark, twisted, steamy, intense, dark, angsty, savage, obsessive, raw, mythological , tortured, and yet beautifully romantic. The final book picked up where book 2 left off and the readers get to see how strong Ashley can be and how much growth she has had since book 1. She truly loves Poseidon and wants to prove they can make it. Poseidon is in despair and hurting after a deep loss. He's trying to figure out his next steps while also hiding out from the government. We see the twists and turns in this final story while also the emotional rollercoaster between our amazing couple. The chemistry is still scorching hot and the banter is still great. Loved the outcome and fabulous epilogue!!
