What if you could feel confident knowing how to help and support someone who is dying? You may want to share their journey, even walk with them until their last breath, but are uncertain how to do so. Author, end-of-life doula, and transition coach, Rev. Linda Bryce regularly sits and sings at the bedside of the dying. The Courage to Care is your handbook, guiding you with practical advice and stories from the bedside and beyond. Together, we can make the end of life as meaningful and memorable as the beginning. Someone is waiting, today, for you and your smiling face. May this book help you summon your courage to care and to be there at the bedside of someone who is dying.
A book for anyone who thinks about the closing of this life and what may lie beyond!
The subject is of vital importance to everyone living, but so often ignored and pushed into the shadows. This writer writes as if she is leaning across your kitchen table and speaking to you. It is a very personal style and so appropriate for such a personal subject. I found it very hard to put its book down!
I learned what to do for a dying loved one, as well as for my loved ones before I die. The author, Linda Bryce, began caring for the dying as her husband left life. Since then, she has volunteered to bring many dying strangers warmth and song. Her advice is open to all faiths and not judgmental. It is an easy read with exercises to help you prepare, along with a biography of other resources.
I know we are not immortal. However, death is not something I like to think about. I have been struggling a lot recently with bad news. This book had a calming feeling to it. I appreciate the resources listed and book recommendations at the end. I hope I can find the courage to continue moving forward and show up for those that are dying.
Linda writes a heartfelt book that can really help someone learn how to successfully be present for the dying of a loved one and in preparation for their own death one day. It is an eye opening read! Not to be missed.
