From the author of Infamous and The Estate comes an enemies-to-lovers romance unlike anything you've ever read
Silas
He wasn’t my friend until he became my enemy. His center is freezing cold, and his edges burn me when I get too close. He is everything I want and nothing I am. They say not to burn bridges, but he burned ours to the ground.
Skyler
She is the girl who wants to be seen, but hates being noticed. She was my friend, my tease, my confidant. She is pure light against all my darkness. The reason you burn down bridges, is to build them up stronger.
Brightly Burning Bridges is a standalone romance and part of the Kings of Capital series
Sky and Si’s story is a tale of two apparently opposite people, coming from two worlds apart, both facing their problems in different ways, so contrasting yet both of them fitting together so perfectly in the life jigsaw. A burning matching pair with a brightly lit hot core.
An angst filled bully romance, a solid plot a well written story with wonderful perfectly imperfect characters.
I first met Silas in The Estate, it goes without saying his standoffish attitude caught my attention immediately. I was really anticipating his story. There was no doubt about Silas being a bully, however I had no idea how lethal he could be. The way he behaved made me so mad, while reading, the inner me hoped he would not act a certain way, I kept saying "don't go there" ... ohhhh he totally went there. I was so frustrated and mad, throwing my kindle against the wall kind of mad. And that's when you know a book is good! This story gave me all the feels making me beg for more.
Told in dual POV the author moves seamlessly between the past and the present connecting all the dots and giving us snippets of the past with each chapter. We understand why Silas and Skyler behave the way they do, or act in a way or another.
Skyler is very self-conscious about the way she looks, desperately wanting to be accepted but she does nothing to make that happen, she feels her stark looks define her and tries her hardest to blend with her surroundings. Silas has always been the only one who truly sees behind her façade, he makes it his mission to show this stubborn girl how wonderful she is. I don’t need to tell you how questionable his methods are, Silas being his usual callous self, pushes Skyler to the edge, until she has no choice but jump.
You want to be liked, but you don’t want to be noticed. You want to be understood, but you don’t want anyone to get too close. You’re bright eyed and dark souled. A beautiful contradiction
Silas hides his true colours behind a mask of insouciance and boldness, his signature smirk never fails to make an appearance. He only lets his mask off in front of Skyler, this fierce girl, however doesn’t buy the entitled elite boy act slowly working towards the destruction of his walls.
Silas Jenkins. He wasn’t a friend, until he became an enemy. He wasn’t warm, until he became cold. He wasn’t kind, until he become vicious. He was everything to me and nothing to me all at the same time
Even as two adults they struggle to communicate and to admit their true feelings, always assuming what the other thinks. Their push and pull builds up into a crescendo a ticking bomb ready to go off at any moment, should the precarious balance shift, a tension that inevitably explodes into a beautiful myriad of colourful shining flames.
I am completely at a loss for words with this masterpiece by Ivy. When I found out she (Ivy) was pairing Skyler with Silas, I told her she was going to have to really prove herself for Silas to deserve someone as great of a character as Skyler and boy, did she excel with his worthiness of Sky!! You never really know or understand what others experience daily that shapes their personality and Silas was the perfect opportunity to prove this to be true.
The amount of passion mixed with turmoil, desire, and betrayal, over an extended period of time, contributed to their need for one another. Both characters have been broken, both knowing and understanding why, never wanting to admit how much they depend on the other, that when their paths cross again, their hidden emotions begin to resurface, exploding with raw intimacy. Silas’ mask comes off, while Skyler continues to tear his walls down, exposing herself in the process.
Ivy has managed to bring me to my knees with this beautifully written masterpiece with an expected yet unexpected ending. This enemies-to-lovers, second chance romance with two deserving characters was more than satisfying and definitely deserving, even with Silas’ dark past and Skyler’s fighting history. Hats off to Ivy for such an amazing addition to the Kings of Capital series, beautifully written story by a beautiful, deserving author! You have captured my heart once again and I love you for going above and beyond the challenge!
Once again, FIVE stars for Ivy Wild's book! This story is IT!!!
It took reading Wild's first ever book (Infamous) for her to get on my top authors list, and her newest release, Brightly Burning Bridges just locked her place on this list even more!!! Oh my heart, Brightly Burning Bridges was AMAZING!!! Heart-fluttering, butterflies-fluttering-in-my-stomach, all-the-feels AMAZING!!! Everyone who knows me, knows that enemies-to-lovers is my all-time favourite trope! There is nothing like reading about intense and passionate hate that turns into a fire-y love! But, not many books have this storyline which keeps you on edge, upset, hot and flustered, angry, and all-consumed throughout the book. Enters Brightly Burning Bridges! Enters Silas and Skyler. Enters a love story that was 10 years in the making, all with its ugly parts, the bully parts, the hateful parts, the swoony parts, the loving parts, and the passionate parts. Ivy Wild gave me a story that was everything i adore and strive to find in an enemies-to-lovers book! A cocky, arrogant, self-centered, damaged alphahole that i literally want to hate but can't deny that i end up loving. A strong, sassy, unapologetic, and equally damaged heroine who stands her ground and loves fiercely. Hate and "uughhh" moments that are so strong that you want to throw your kindle across the room. Lust, passion, and love that you end up smiling like a fool or feeling hot and bothered. Jealousy and possessiveness even during their "enemies" moments! Chemistry that is dripping from everywhere, from their most hateful encounters to their most filthy moments! And sex scenes that are so steamy and hot that the heat is burning you!!! If you love dirty-talking, and raw and passionate sex scenes, this book is a gem!!! And even before the intimate scenes came, the build-up was intense. From the way they were looking at each other, or bantering and fighting with each other, you could feel how epic their coming together would be. Five burning stars for me for this all-consuming story!!! The chemistry is OFF THE CHARTS, the hate and love is there from the very first page, and the steaminess is dangerously high.
After reading The Estate I did not like Silas, in fact, I couldn't stand him and knew there was no way in hell that man could be redeemed......it would take a freaking miracle for that to happen!
"He wasn't a friend, until he became an enemy. He wasn't warm, until he became cold. He wasn't kind, until he became vicious. He was everything to me and nothing to me all at the same time. And I felt everything for him and nothing for him all at the same time."
This story was not what I expected, the twists and turns blew my mind at every turn which had me intrigued from beginning to end. I savored this story, I wanted to fully grasp the tumultuous relationship between Silas and Skyler and wow....the angst, the turmoil, the drama, it was conveyed through every page.
"This bridge sort of reminds me of each of us. We're splintered, fractured and broken. Life's thrown a ton at us and really worn us down. But, we're still here. We're still standing."
Silas and Skyler are opposites, yet compliment each other in every way. These two will have you an emotional hotmess....you'll laugh, smile, cry, yell but in the end you'll be cheering them on and hoping for their HEA!! I LOVED this book and in true Ivy fashion she redeemed the devil himself, I fell in love with Silas! This is one story that will absolutely monopolize your time!
Brightly Burning Bridges is my first Ivy Wild book, and I'm so glad it was this book. Brightly Burning Bridges is a beautiful enemies to lovers/second chance romance. BBB has a fresh feel to it that I absolutely love. Silas, a broody, swoony alpha who you can't help but love and want to throttle at the same time. Skylar, the heroine is unique strong and loyal. Their story sucks you in and captivates you from the very start. The venom, passion, beauty* and heat explode off the pages! I can't say enough good things about this book.
*I legit mean beauty. This is a book you're going to want to add to your library.
Gotta love a two for one in a romance book! This is a bully and a second chance romance all rolled into one! Silas is the rich jerk who thinks he can be a jerk to everyone then just apologize or pay them off. This doesn’t work with Skylar, who is is just a girl stuck in his school because her mom is the help. A priceless shattered vase and a homework arrangement to pay it off, force these two together. The push and pull is angsty and heart breaking. Then ten years pass and they have moved on. Or have they. This book is more then just the two types of romance. There’s mystery, intrigue and a few things you won’t see coming! It brings back characters from the previous stories and melts them together seamlessly. There are some intense scenes that heat the sheets but the thing I love best about this book (other then the angsty alphahole you can’t help but love) is it bring Huntington’s disease into the story and having family members suffer from this heartbreaking disease adds to the emotions pull for me. Bringing awareness to it just makes my heart because it needs it. I also love that the main girl isn’t society’s perfection. And that Silas loves her more because of it. But man what’s the message say!!!!! .
Arc For Honest review . Brightly burning bridges is one of the best romances I have read this year . Three of my all time favorite Tropes rolled into one , Enemies to lovers / Bully / and second chance romance ,can’t really beat that . Silas is a alpha to the core and oh so swoony. There were moments I was cheering for him and others I just wanted to kick him .skyler is so unique and strong .put the two of them together and and their chemistry is off the Charts hot . But this book is so much more then just a bully romance, Their are very emotional moments and topics as well , mystery and surprises you won’t see coming . My emotions were literally all over the place , I completely fell in love with this book , it was truly a beautiful thing to get to watch their relationship develop and grow to something more . There isn’t one think I can think of that I did not like in this beautiful story .I loved it all ❤️💜❤️💜
Brightly Burning Bridges (Kings of Capital #3) Written by: Ivy Wild
To say that Ivy Wild has done it again might be a bit of an understatement. She has hit a grand slam outta the park home run with Brightly Burning Bridges.
Silas Jenkins, oh I remember this man from The Estate, I thought he was the biggest jerk ever! Well now I know why he was the biggest jerk ever and to see a jerk reform, well hell!
Skylar Jackson, love this girl so much and what I love even more is seeing her step up and show the world how talented and resilient she is, even though some days she still withdraws she always goes out and gives back when she can.
These two, watching them negotiate, have the odd skirmish, sit down and work on a peace treaty and then someone sets off that bomb and everything explodes and that’s just in high school!
As time passes and seasons change so do Silas and Skylar and a surprise encounter has them together again. These days though, they are different and maybe just maybe they will realize that all those events were just the stepping-stones to forgiveness and love.
As she is want to do, author Ivy Wild has given readers a wonderful story told in dual point of view and going from present to past with ease. Readers get to see the development of both Skylar and Silas. We learn their history, what molded them as young adults and the adults they have become. When it comes to the heat and attraction that is between them the eventual coming together is like fireworks. It starts off slow with a build and when they come together it is all hot and steamy. Ivy Wild writes some darn fine hot and steamy!
I can’t wait to see what comes next, I’m just glad she is on my one click list!
Silas and Skyler's journey is breathtaking beautiful and is one hella of an emotional rollercoaster & it honestly will have you trying to turn pages quicker than you can read. Its a heart wrenching journey that has all the feels and leaves you swooning for Silas Jenkins.
Honestly INSTANTLY i was loving Silas's vibe & character!! His wit will leave you smiling but damn his possessiveness is sexy & who doesn't love an alpha!
Skyler is not your average female character for me she was so much more, beautiful, strong, loyal & sassy. Seeing her grow in this book will complete your heart.
My heart for Silas & Skyler felt every emotion but my heart literally snapped for Silas & took my breath away. The way Ivy has captured every emotional moment and wrote them into these pages will leave your heart aching but also complete.
For me i absolutely love the references to Carter. But feeling and reliving elements of Sophie & Connor within literally was perfect .. but you knoww I'm team Connor wait or was it Carter 🤣😜
The ending for me was P E R F E C T! Now everyone knows I'm a huge Ivy fan and once again Ivy has provided a different journey in her Kings of Capital book collection!
Ivy Wild is such a fresh new voice in the romance world, and I'm so glad I discovered her stories. Fraught with emotional tension, brimming with complex character development, and complicated but firey chemistry. Brightly Burning Bridges is an intense but redemptive bully second chance love story that completely captures you.
There's an emotional tenacity to the way Ivy tells her stories, and Silas and Skyler bring such intensity to the page. These two have emotional back and forth, especially as this story is told in the past and present where both history and present are full of angst and tumultuous feelings. At first, I wasn't sure I could get behind Silas- though I could feel his thrall. Silas definitely takes a while to redeem himself, but I loved how Skyler is such a strong and resolved heroine amidst his alpha ways. Both characters get a chance to grow and evolve as the story unfolds- and while I'm not normally a fan of narrative structures that alternate between past and present, but here it not only added to the turmoil and angst but also really situated a steady but compelling character arc for both. They've been broken and have kept so much under the surface, and when they reunite again there carefully packaged emotional baggage spills over. There's a chaos to their chemistry, a raw fragility, but also a a tender strength and pulsing intimacy that underscores their fractures. The facades fade, the walls crumble, and Ivy exposes both character's beauty within their broken- and their profound need for one another. And Silas does come through- beautifully, symbolically and emotionally, in ways I never anticipated but felt deep in my heart.
As a new author, Ivy already has such incredible talent. Her stories are carefully constructed, the evocative prose flows and engages, and she has such a keen ability to create tragically flawed and complicated characters whose emotive journeys are told with such care and thoughtfulness. Her stories are intense, unexpected, and engaging- but the true power lies in the emotional resonance of her characters. This is some of the most clear and compelling character voice I've read- Ivy absorbs us and them completely. How intensely she dissects and opens up her characters' hearts and minds and the power of their self-growth- the healing, the forgiveness, the self-actualization and awareness, the redemption, the acceptance- all catalyze by a deep but complicated connection with another broken soul. I'm excited to read more from her and for more emotional journeys to come.
A 2-for-1 with a bully and second-chance romance in one. Silas our bully is a rich jerk with definite issues, though deep down it’s all a front. Skylar the ‘different’ girl at school that he ‘plays’ with to get his kicks, is physically different from other girls but doesn’t suffer fools gladly. Nothing is what is seems on the surface, but that doesn’t stops hearts getting broken. Years later a chance sighting of Skylar and Silas is back at it, but is it to bully or beg? This is a new to me writer and I really enjoyed this book, one to recommend
Plot Summary : Skyler is living a normal life. That is until a ghost from her past visits again. Silas was her enemy. That is the only relationship they had and that is the only thing she would ever let him have with her. But he has other plans.
Seeing Skylar should not have been such a shock but silas finds out that he rather enjoys her company. Even if she doesn't feel the same. And there is no way he is letting her go this time. They would have had a different ending this time and he would make sure of it.
Overall Opinion : I have read another book of this author and her romances are good. I picked up this book because of the enemies to lovers vibes it gives and it was an amazing read for me.
Silas and Skyler have a history that neither of them wants to acknowledge but at the same time they can't stay away from each other. I loved the storyline and the plot with the characters too. A few older characters made an appearance and that was nice too. This one was a one time read for me but it was a great one for an enemies to lovers romance.
I would definitely recommend this book to all the contemporary romance lovers out there!
The story is romantic, emotional, dreamy and a little angsty with drama. This is a second chance bully romance that will make the readers not want to put the book down. It has a strong and fierce FC. Both, the MC & FC, have their own set of issues which they overcome with the help of each other to finally get their HEA. The story keeps switching from past to present, gradually explaining the readers what had happened to the couple in the past. The story is engrossing and pleasing. A highly recommended book for readers who like this genre.
Personal Take: I think this @ivywildauthor 's best work up till now. Her books keep getting better and better. I loved how the author included Sophie and Connor (from Book 2) in the story too. This book tugged my heart with what the characters had been thru. Silas (MC) & Sylar (FC) were so different yet so similar to each other. It was a perfect story with a perfect end.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review. This was a 5 star read for me!
This was my first book by this author and I am impressed! This book has a little bit of everything! Mystery, enemies to lovers, angst and bulky elements!
I loved the character development Ivy took the time to give us! I love uncovering authors who are new to me and brilliant!
The chemistry and heat between Skylar and Silas was everything!
I never include spoilers with my reviews! This is a must read from Ivy Wild for 2021!
Ivy wild is a new-to-me author and “Brightly Burning Bridges” was my first read by her and I can assure you it will not be my last! Ivy Wild has a unique and fresh way to telling stories I loved her writing style and how she portrays her characters
Silas and skylar were absolute sheer perfection together their hear their chemistry it was smoking hot and gives you so many feelings Silas is the broken moody jerk who thinks the world owes him a favour and Skylar is the strong independent woman with a heart of gold Skylar was Silas’s light in the very dark very deep tunnel I absolutely loved this story and I can’t recommend it enough
OMG So freaking brilliant. Just when you didn’t think you could love anyone more than Connor, boom in comes Silas!
I adored him, in all his dirty talking, alpha loving badness. And Skye, total girl crush, she was so adorable. I love how they are with each other, the connection, the attraction. My kindle couldn’t handle Silas dirty talk and the heat between these 2 🔥🔥🔥
Silas and Skylers story was the perfect second chance story. The only person ever to not fall under Silas’s spell is and has always been Skyler, she sees past the Silas everyone else sees until he becomes the Silas everyone gets. Now all these years later these two are back in each other’s orbit and Silas knows this is the second chance he never thought he’d get.
This was the first book I've read by this author, I was completely sucked in to this book and Skyler and Silas's journey from enemies to lovers. This book shows just how much opposites attract.
Silas is your typical rich douche playboy, I'm sure you know the type humps and dumps without giving a dawn about anyone's feelings. He puts on this facade for the rest of world, always wearing a mask but what happens when that one girl comes along and your mask starts slipping? Well guess you're going to have to read and find out yourself *insert evil laugh*
This story was intricately written in a way to make sure it pulls those pesky feelings out of you. The character development was written amazingly. I fell in love with Silas and all his broken parts. This book was about redemption and two broken souls finding their way back to each other. Now that I've gotten a taste of Ivy's writing in for sure going to be checking out her other books....
If you are looking for a book that has it all then Brightly Burning Bridges, a standalone by Ivy Wild, is the next book you need to read. This enemies to lovers/second chance novel will have you laughing, crying, having hope and rooting for love all in one chapter! The chemistry of the characters, the emotions they feel throughout this book makes you feel you are the character! This is a not to be missed read for 2021 and one you won’t regret.
This book is about Silas & Skyler who we saw a glimpse of in Ivy's previous books.
Silas has always had the reputation of being mean and cold, ever since school. He was horrible to Skyler back then but at the same time, on the rare occasion she saw the real softer side to him, and he knew he wanted her. Regardless of the degrading things he put her through, Skyler always had a soft spot for him. Until he went too far.
Years pass without any communication until Silas turns up at the Pancake House that Sky works at. Their feelings and memories come flooding back. But is Silas still the cold centred a*sehole he used to be?! Could they ever work?!
Oh my!! This book knocked my socks off. Silas was a character from previous book by Ivy Wild and I was so excited to see where she took his story. I was surprised and kept on my toes and I absolutely loved it. Skylar, the other main character is also a continuation of a character from another one of Ivys books. I love that do not need to have read the books prior to this one as they are all stand alone stories. Ivy is very detailed in her character development and I just love seeing the growth form so naturally throughout the story. Absolutely loved this book and can’t wait for more from Wild.
Brightly Burning Bridges is another amazing story written by Ivy Wild
Second chance bully love story with so much emotion and passion that will make you grab tissues while reading it ❤️❤️❤️ and I would highly recommend it with great ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Skylar is a girl that was different from everyone, not just by her looks but also the passion , honesty and love she has to give . However her insecurities because of her looks she does not have any friends and while moving from different places because of her moms job , she has harder time to gain and friends and friendships. But that all changes when she gains friendship with Silas who is so much like her, broken and lonely. The only difference is that he puts up the front and is surrounded by people that he has no interest in. Through the high school they gain the relationship that is more than just a friendship however that all changes when the bridges are burned and Skylar has only one way out, to move away and pursue her dreams of attending the acting school. Now ten years later they meet again and the love they have for each other is still as strong as ever. The only challenge is if Skylar is ready to give in or to hold into her insecurities and not let the love win.
Well this author has given us another amazing book. When I first met Silas in The Estate, I couldn’t stand him and I wasn’t sure how I would like him in this book but boy does he show you all his true colours. I loved Skyler in Infamous and when I knew she was Silas love interest I wasn’t to happy, with him being a big D*ck but he manages to wiggle his way to my heart! They do say opposite attract and boy doesn’t this story show you that.
This book is an enemies to lover/ Bully Romance. It will put you through all the emotions, Love and hate being the biggest ones and Skyler and Silas definitely have a Love Hate relationship! There was so may times i wanted to junk punch Silas but once you get to see the true Silas you will love him and all his hot edges. I didn’t expect all those twists and turns but I loved every minute of it.
This was my first book of Ivy wild & I m impressed !! I love bully Romance & if you get a second chance with it it's a double treat. I love Silas & Skyler story it was once you sit you can't close the book without reading the whole completely. The story makes me feel so much Emotions how broken both Silas & Skyler was & how vulnerable they were at time. Agghh it was so good. Skyler was such an innocent yet strong character for me & Silas makes my heart melts & also at times I was so at at him *lol* .but they are so good together the chemistry ,the feels & Everything . There story was so perfect 😻😻🔥🔥.
Bewitching, captivating and packing a punch to the feels, Brightly Burning Bridges is a literary work of art.
This is my first Ivy Wild book. I usually try to read new-to-me authors once in a while but am always a little hesitant about it, but something about the blurb for this book just caught me and I'm so glad I picked it up.
This story is so full of color, life, poison, passion, hurt, hope, turmoil and the most beautifully broken characters, alongside a fresh, original voice that will bring you to your knees and capture your heart and soul.
I am so glad I read this book. The intensity in this book is so hot. It's so damn beautifully written. I loved the equation between Skylar and Silas.
I loved both these characters alot. Both of these characters are super intense and fight with their own set of insecurities. They are different yet the same.
The intensity and the plot in this book will keep you hooked till the end and you will fall in love with Silas and Skylar. The romance is swoon worthy.
I loved how Ivy Wild handled the insecurities these two characters have.
Silas and Skyler oh how I freaking love them!!!! Silas is the rich douche who thinks the world bows to him and can treat people however the hell he wants and not have to apologize for it. Then there is Skyler the stunning beauty who tries not to be noticed but is the one person who could care less that Silas I’d rich and she will not put up with his crap. Their first meeting and their chemistry is off the charts hot! They have this push pull between them that is undeniable. Skyler seems to be the only one who Silas actually let’s see the real him and then something happens and once again he’s a dick and pushes Skyler away. Fast forward ten years and a second chance that Silas is not letting slip by. There is some mystery some twists turns and some amazing sexy time 😻.. There are some truly touching moments that will bring tears to your eyes and having your heart break for these characters and you can’t help but root for their happy ending!! I love how Ivy make these amazing Alpha A-Hole characters with a soft side for their woman but she also makes these super strong independent female characters that you can’t help but love!! Must read!!! I loved it!
