Ken Baker’s Fitly Spoken is a very good treatment of the topic of communication from a Christian perspective. He wrote a lot of helpful and practical tips, insights, and principles for Christian communication. The simplicity of the book shines, with short, digestible, and entirely practical information. An excellent part of the book is Baker’s extensive usage of Scripture throughout. It is refreshing to find a biblical focus in his writing. However, he also uses it quite freely, regardless of its application and meaning. So some of the verses are only loosely applicable to the point Baker is making. It is not a pervasive problem, but a problem nonetheless. One further negative note is that much of what Baker writes needs some nuance and real-life context. One should take his advice with a grain of salt and be willing to alter it upon analysis of the circumstances. Overall, in spite of these few quibbles, it is a helpful book.

Not well-written, but has a lot of good ideas for maintaining good relationships & communication. If you're interested in studying communication skills from a Biblical perspective, this is a good primer but hardly the only volume you'll need to consult. I just need to find another one myself now.
