Seldom do you read something this close to your life, but it is good to have read it and compared the story to my own history and knowledge. My story is a bit later than that of Alf Gjøsund, but they meet on more than one occasion. This is also an important book for me to understand the background of my parent's beliefs and the turbulence they experienced, and that also affected me, especially in my childhood and youth, not to mention so many people of who I know of(including relatives!) from this same church.

As a book, even if it is really great, it is not timeless in the sense that the author goes into details of affairs that were currently in the spotlight at the time of the writing and yet to be "resolved". Even his website went offline just a few years after this book came out, and thus marking Gjøsunds final nail in the coffin for his past, but also makes this book feel like a still unfinished chapter.
