Six messages on prayer by Ben Haden, long-time pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Chattanooga, Tennessee, and speaker on the radio program, "Changed Lives." Billy Graham said of this book, "As a former newspaperman, Ben's style is 'straight,' but his ideas always have the ring of truth that comes from a Biblical foundation....Most admit of course the importance of prayer. Ben Haden's emphasis however is that only talking with God in specific terms will release the power of Christ."
I used to catch Ben Haden's radio program, "Changed Lives," every Sunday night while I was driving from Baton Rouge to New Orleans, Louisiana. There was something about his style that attracted me. Not too long ago I spotted an old copy of this book and grabbed it! This little paperback has six sermons arranged around the idea of prayer and how we often settle for much less than God intends. These are simple sermons, and as I read I could hear Haden's voice and the way he masterfully used emotion and skillful pauses to drive home a point. If you are not familiar with Ben Haden, find a copy of this book and enjoy these messages.
