In Serenity #5

Find Me in Serenity: Book 5

Rate this book
An ER doctor. A Fire Chief. Hilarity, danger...and true love conquering all. All that Dr. Jenna Novak wants is some peace and quiet, and the leisurely pace of small-town living. And after five years in Haiti – hurricanes, earthquakes, gang warfare, and let’s not mention the scandal and embarrassment – moving to Serenity seems to be the best thing she did in a very, very long while. However, Serenity turns out to be anything but quiet. Her baptism by fire is just the beginning; there are quirky events like Halloween Great Pumpkin Vigil, there’s surviving a runaway Burmese python, rescuing neglected dogs (and a puppy!), finding a missing child, rushing around the ER at the medical center...and there’s her neighbor, the incredibly hot Fire Chief Logan Cooper. But why did things have to get so complicated with him? It was supposed to be something fun with an attractive, gray-eyed hunk (hey, is having the whole town place bets on your sex life also fun, or embarrassing?), so why is it suddenly becoming something...well, a lot more? And why did her obsessive ex, a recovering addict, have to follow her into her new life...and will she be able to survive him? Will Logan get to her in time, and rescue her...again...just one more time? BOOK 5: Dr. Jenna Novak has a hard time convincing Fire Chief Logan Cooper that the last thing on her mind is a relationship; not with him, and certainly not with her ex-fiancé, Kent, who has arrived in Serenity and insists that they were meant to be together. It sure is reason to lose sleep. On one hand she’d be perfectly happy never to see Kent again, except that as a doctor she took a vow to help those in trouble, and Kent’s addiction is clearly riding his back. On the other hand, the intense, searing sex she’s been having with Logan has begun to morph into something different. It’s been invaded by pesky emotions such as tenderness and caring . . and we can’t have that! Her only recourse is to resist, resist, resist.A devastating accident leaves Jenna questioning her devotion to her duties as a doctor, and she begins to feel that helping Kent recover from his dependency might be the way to pay back her dues to the universe. But Logan isn’t convinced. It’s a clear case of him vs. Kent. He makes no secret that she needs to choose.

No Easy Choice . . .

Dr. Jenna Novak has been enjoying the intense, physical relationship with Fire Chief Logan Cooper. But she is beginning to feel the stirring of real emotions, tender feelings, caring about him. She is definitely panicking over this, so she is trying to convince him she does not want a relationship and has been trying to push him away.

Her other problem is her ex-fiancé, Kent, who has followed her to Serenity to tell her they were meant to be together. She does not want Kent in her life. But she has a compromised view of her doctor’s vows requiring her to help people, and Kent’s addiction absolutely requires help (though I would suggest someone else help him, not her!). Helping Kent may be satisfying her perceived debt to the world. In the meantime, Logan probably sees it more clearly as him versus Kent vying for the lady’s affection! And he wants her to choose! Will this be what finally puts an end to their relationship?

Once more, there is plenty going on in this story. Will Jenna make that decision? Or does she truly want neither man? Can she trust those emotions she is feeling toward Logan? Should she give what they have a chance before she throws it all away?

Jenna and Logan are back and so is the angst, drama, and romance. Jenna’s ex-fiancé shows up unwanted again and this time Logan isn’t around. Jenna finds an angel in another Serenity neighbor who comes to help chase Kent away. There are two traumatic events that happen in the same night that Jenna and Logan attend to. Sergeant Wallace suffers a stroke and as they get him to the hospital there is a huge crash. This rocks Jenna to her core and she’s finally letting Logan back in her heart when Kent makes another appearance. Then, in true Clara Cruise style, there is a huge cliffhanger!

I enjoy hoe realistic this series is, the ups and downs of two first responders in a relationship, the small town feel where everyone knows your business, and how welcoming everyone is to newcomers— ie: Tiff & Celeste’s growing family.

This is book five of six in the “Find Me In Serenity” series and they must be read in order. If you haven’t read any yet, now is a good time to start as the final book will be released on May 11, 2021.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading book 1-5. Series just keeps getting better. Short but definitely worth the read....not everything is serene in serenity.

What happens when you cross a broken person with an overly confidant person? How do they traverse the mine lines that have etched deep scars in the psyche of one of them? How can a person who doesn’t know how to communicate the horrors they have lived, overcome their fears so that the one person who seems more than willing to break up the dark clouds that live within bring the sun back? How can they navigate the waters of small town life? How will they come through the other side when they have road bumps popping up through their journey to possibly forever? Short but a page turner nonetheless. Not as many laugh out loud moments as books 1-4. This one was more of a tear jerker so be prepared with the tissues. Can’t wait for book 6.

In Book 5, we learn Dr. Jenna Novak is dealing with guilt concerning an event from her past that has plagued her immensely. This revelation affects her personally and professionally. Couple that with the appearance of her ex-boyfriend and a sudden tragic event, Jenna is in a bewildered mess. Fire Chief Logan is beside himself trying to figure out where his place is with Jenna while keeping a professional demeanor. The supporting cast of characters are a weave of adoring and generous individuals who truly watch over and protect Jenna. The story is filled with romance, high-energy rescues, intrigue, and good friends who exemplify the town of Serenity. This novel has way more substance than strictly love scenes. Loved every minute reading! Watch out, there is more to come!

I am sitting on pins and needles, waiting for the next book! The series has been building and building, and things are starting to come to a head! (I don't want to spoil it for you.) You still get the sense of the small town feel in this book, although there is less focus on that, this time around. It’s more about the two central characters Logan and Jenna, and their as yet undefined relationship. This book does does deal with alcohol and drug abuse, so please be mindful if this is something that concerns you. I would very much recommend reading this series, and will be sad when it’s finished! It has been very entertaining.

Things are getting very interesting in Serenity. Jenna’s ex has shown up claiming to be clean and sober, but he doesn’t understand the words “stay away.” Her friends have become foster parents to a son on the ASD Spectrum, and I think it’s going to take a little getting use to the busyness of what’s supposed to be a sleepy little town, but the worse thing of all is , something terrible has happened and Jenna possibly could’ve prevented it. Now she has to tell her boss and face the consequences. Quinn has been graceful about a lot lately, will this be the thing that ends Jenna’s stay in Serenity; while one life hangs in the balance and another is missing?

Im sitting shaking my head. Going, are you serious woman? Kent is a POS all the way through and through. He lied yet again, and she still is thinking of following helping him when people that are more important in her life need her more. Logan is the better man by far, and she needs to get her head out of her rear end. The horrible thing that happened is partly her fault for not stepping up, but she needs to just deal with that fact. She needs to make the right choice and if she doesn't Im going to steal Logan for me. This is book five in this story and let me tell you that you will reeling with emotions all over the place and on the edge of your seat. Grant these and enjoy.

Jenna is dealing with an ex who shows up, from her time in Haiti who was on drugs and drinking. She deals with her self criticism after a major accident at the hospital because again she did not say anything about his drinking. As she sits in a bar, not drinking her beer and in a cloud, Logan pulls up next to her to talk. Acknowledging what happened helps, but when they go to leave, another situation happens that throws the decision to help up for grabs. Someone is drunk again, causing problems, and a person has gone missing in the freezing night air. Can not wait for the next section of the story, which will be the conclusion.

Jenna is still trying to get rid of Kent who says he's sober and not doing drugs. Logan is tired of Kent. Jenna finds Kent in the bar that she and Logan are at talking. Kent is drunk and drugged up but at the same time little Graham, Tiff and Celeste's kid. There is an ambulance ready to take Kent to the hospital and Logan is asking Jenna if she's going to help find a 10 year old boy. Logan looks at Jenna and tells her to "Choose, Jenna, it's time to choose." Now we wait for another part to come out. This is book 5 In the Find Me In Serenity series. There is a lot going on in this book. Jenna and Logan are riding rough waves. Jenna pulls away and Logan always comes back. I am enjoying the way Tiff interacts with Graham. I Love how warm and welcoming everyone is. I would definitely recommend this book, but have to say make sure you get them all so you are not lost. Love the characters. Well all but 1....Kent. I can not wait to find out what happens next.

This is the fifth and next to last book in the Find Me In Serenity Series. Dr Jenna's life gets more complicated and if fat from the quiet life she expected in this small town. Her love life with Logan is still sizzling and the flames of emotion and love are heating up. Her ex, Kent adds to the tension and an accident makes things worse. Jenna is torn between her professional code of ethics and her love for Logan. What happens when she has to make a decision? This series gets more intense and I can't wait for the conclusion in the next book. I read an arc via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to write a review.

Jenna and Logan's story continues with more complications with her ex Kent who does know how to take no for a answer and keeps causing trouble. When the medical pilot JB crashes Jenna is shaken because she suspected that he has been flying while drinking and she knows she has to report that not knowing what it could mean for her career leaving us with a cliffhanger for the next book which I can not wait to read. Come on Jenna and Logan let's get this relationship going because I love them both.

Tiffany and Celeste are having their foster kid which is a celebration for all the neighbours.
Jenna suspects that JP flies under the influence of alcohol, but she didn’t say anything. She has no idea how repentant she is going to be.
Looking forward to reading the last part of this series.

Good

Another enjoyable story in a series I’m really enjoying. This story was full of regret and heartache and ends in a cliffhanger.

STEM FMC in the medical field! I'm always looking for books with women in STEM, and this series has it. This series is written very strangely... it's like 6 tiny novels that are really just one long novel. You can't read any of them as stand alones, and each one ends on a cliff hanger, so you need to go to the next one. The spice is ok and the plot is ok, just a strange format.
