Hilarious, illustrated school-based antics where everything that happens leads to DRAMA and RUNNING AROUND and even some FAINTING! When a session of extreme dancing leaves Maisie in hospital with a broken leg, things take a turn for the weird! Strange noises in the ward at night, missing cuddly toys and a sandwich trolley that only ever has TUNA sandwiches. Could Maisie's leg be CURSED? If it is, and it DEFINITELY IS, then everything is DOOMED! Laugh-out-loud fun from Blue Peter Award winners Pamela Butchart and Thomas Flintham. Read more of Izzy's adventures! Baby Aliens Got My Teacher The Spy Who Loved School Dinners My Headteacher Is a Vampire Rat Attack of the Demon Dinner Ladies To Wee Or Not To Wee! There's a Werewolf In My Tent! The Phantom Lollipop Man! There's a Yeti in the Playground! Icarus Was Ridiculous
As a child, Pamela was lucky enough to grow up in a house full of pets and go to a primary school where lots of spooky and weird things happened (well, in her imagination at least). As a student, Pamela’s student jobs included: fishwife, teaching basketball in America, phlebotomist and Artist Liaison for a (really bad) Abba tribute band. Now, when she’s not writing or going out and about meeting readers, Pamela teaches philosophy to teenagers.
Her top selling stories include The Spy Who Loved School Dinners which won the Blue Peter Best Story Award and My Head Teacher is a Vampire Rat which won The Children’s Book Award. Two of her books, Petunia Peri and There’s a Werewolf in My Tent, were shortlisted for the Lollies – the Laugh Out Loud Awards.
Pamela lives in Dundee with her baby boy and their two awesome cats, Bear & Carlos. If she wasn’t working as a writer and a teacher she’d like to open a luxury hotel for stray cats.
This is officially #10 in an ongoing series, but my 7-year-old and I didn't have any trouble starting here when Nosy Crow sent me an ARC. The opening is absolutely hilarious, I loved reading it out loud to my 7-y-o, we both laughed a LOT...and then he took off with it, because he couldn't wait to be read the rest! And he hasn't given it back yet.
So. I haven't actually finished it myself yet, but it is definitely a recommendation from our family! (He says, "Mummy, tell them it is SO GOOD!" It's a five star rating from him, because he HAS read it all but wants to keep it for himself for a while yet.)
And we're going back to get all the earlier books in the series because this was such a success!
I like this book a lot ,it is very funny and l like how Maisie does not faint much like she does in other books .📚 And this author does do a lot of books like this l have read a few books by this author to. I would recommend it to you if you like funny 😜 stories and mythical creatures ,and a bit of mystery.

Very much did not enjoy reading this monotonous non-adventure to my 6 year old. She seemed to like it. I got annoyed by the constant use of, "and that's when so-and-so said such-and-such... and... and... and... or something ." I'm not an idiot. I get that it's trying to speak to kids the way they speak, but so much of it is just bad writing. And it uses the word "mega" - more than once. Who has said that since the 1990s?!
És una història que recomano molt a les persones a qui agradi les aventures, el misteri i la intriga. D'aquesta col·lecció i m'han agradat molt els dos que he llegit. Són molt divertits i m'agrada com s'expliquen.
This is such a fantastic series of books. It was so funny and I loved every second reading this book. Masie has broken her leg and her friends convince themselves her leg is cursed. This starts the usual chaos of event that will have you laughing out loud.
I can see that this book would be highly engaging for young children. It’s humorous and adventurous! You don’t need to have read the other books in the series to enjoy it. It makes sense as a stand-alone.
Granted I'm not the targeted audience for this book but as a primary teacher I'm keen reader of children's literature. I found this book to be too dumbed down for my Year 4 class but it would suit 6-7 year olds as it is an easy read.
I loved this book, it really had me wanting to read more! I like the relationship the friends have and always there to help each other. I always think the illustrations keep the book super interesting too.
All the books in the series are worth reading for sure!
I'm only halfway through this book and I'm considering reading it again. I remember giggling with this one. I don't really have much to say lol, I love Maisie's lil plushy its so adorbs and when I was young I had a plushy ,pretty much like every normal child, so that was something to relate to.
"This story is very funny, full of mystery and a little bit scary at times. The characters are nice people who care about each other, and support each other through hard times in this book. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy comedy."
Sadly not my cup of tea as far as middle grade goes, though I can see why the series is so popular, and I recommend it to those looking for high-octane, laugh-a-minute reads!
I thought this was a strong episode in the Baby Alien series. It was a fun read with my eight year old daughter, who always begs for more chapters no matter how many we read.
