Pulse blasts hammered the ground with the rain and Raizor looked up as Mustang roared above, turning in a slow arc, and unleashing fury.
The Wrynd closest to her fell under the onslaught of cannon blasts. Raizor retreated, still firing and still without hope.
When she looked back the cloud around Harley and the Greywalker had wafted away.
And Harley Nearwater opened his eyes.
If he knew death offered such sweet peace, Harley Nearwater, the Castaway, would have died decades before.
As he welcomes death, embraces it, the man of the shadows, the Greywalker, returns and pulls him back toward a life he never wanted.
As the end arrives, he accepts his failure. He cannot save his love, he cannot save his fellowship, and there is no hope for humanity. Their every effort has led only to doom and one surety:
James L. Davis lives with his wife in Spanish Fork, Utah, in a home infested with children and animals, where he is very happy and not altogether sane.
The characters in his head, screaming at his brain, keep him up at night. But sometimes they have "intrestin" thoughts.
I laughed and cried ,became so involved in the characters of such depth that I will carry them with me forever in my life. Made me realize that we should all live in the now because tomorrow is not promised and we need to love, live every moment to its fullest. Thank you Mr. Davis.
I gave this series 5 stars. It deserves much more. The storyline was rich with love & loss, base humanity and faith. A book of monsters that were humanity. A story that is a lesson of the phrase, 'leave no footprint.'
