When the annual book fair comes to town, life is stranger than fiction!
Harmony Lake buzzes with excitement when world-famous author and avid needle felter, Claire Rivera, attends our annual book fair.
But excitement turns to sadness when Claire is found dead from a freak accident with a felting needle.
And sadness turns to suspicion when the police determine that Claire’s seemingly accidental death is actually murder.
When another world-famous author, who happens to be my father, rockets to number one on the suspect list, I take a stab at finding the real killer.
Can I find out whodunit before my father gets stuck taking the blame?
I hope so, but with no shortage of suspects, finding the killer is like looking for a felting needle in a haystack.
If you like your cozy mysteries with a bit of humour, small town Canadian life, a hint of romance, a close circle of quirky, lovable characters that you wish you knew in real life, dogs and cats, and free knitting patterns, there's something in this series for you.
Clean read: no graphic violence, sex, or strong language.
At book seven I am still really enjoying this series, as much as I did the very first book. The characters are a very big reason why I keep coming back to this series, I love how most of the characters might not actually be family but the way they interact they might as well be and make for a great team. A close knit community that is not only fun but a place you would want to live, apart from the number of murders, a bit like Jessica Fletcher's Cabbot Cove. The reference to other book characters was fun, especially the idea of the dog being dressed up as the hungry caterpillar. The mystery is also another big reason because it is well crafted with plenty of suspects and clues for the listener to solve the murder. I had worked out who the killer was and why but it was still a lot of fun to listen to especially with Megan's father being in town and meeting her boyfriend for the first time, definite drama involved. This is also a series that you can not only listen to in any order but you can listen to them again and again and I often do while waiting for the newest release. With the annual book fair in town and two famous authors willing to sign books in some of the local shops, Harmony Lakes expects to be busy. Megan thought the most she would have to worry about is her father meeting her new boy friend and how he will react to seeing his ex assistant Claire and fellow author for the first after accusing her of stealing his story. Instead her boyfriend gets called away when Claire gets locked in her cabin, only to find her dead. With the door locked how was she killed and by who? With her father's history with Claire he becomes the police's focus of attention. there other suspect like the fan that is stalking her or the agent that is seen sneaking all around town and isn't too upset his biggest client is dead Can Megan convince her boyfriend by finding the killer and stopping him from arresting her father? I liked the narrator. She did some fun sounding accents in this book. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
We got to meet Megan's dad in this one and what a treat. A great addition to a solid series. Enjoyed the mystery and had plenty of suspects to choose from. The community interaction was, as always, enjoyable. On to the next!
There’s a lot going on in this mystery. There are famous authors and their books. There’s also suspicious characters and secrets. I love these characters and have enjoyed all the books in the series so far. The audiobook narration was really good. The series has a crafting theme to it.
In Sins and Needles: A Kn#7, Reagan Davis returns to Harmony Hills where the annual book fair is being held. Not only is famous author Claire Rivera, an avid needle felter, attending, but also Mitchell Monroe another famous author and Megan's father. Before long there is a murder and Megan again sets out to find the culprit. Her boyfriend and detective, Eric must work to solve the murder and try to eliminate Mitchell as a suspect. All of this happens as the book fair continues. Megan's shop, Knitorious, adds to its role as yarn shop by becoming a place for spectators to gather to hear readings from her father's latest book and see the collection of needle felted characters depicted in Claire's popular series of books made by the Charity Knitting Circle and for sale in the shop. Amid the confusion of the book fair, several new characters must be eliminated as suspects and the real killer found. There is never a dull moment at Knitorious and this book will entertain you and leave you anxious for the next book in the series.
This is such a fun series, and this book doesn't disappoint! It is well written and has a really great storyline. In this story, we get to meet Megan’s parents. Her father is a write and is in town for the book fair along with other writers. Unfortunately, things go bad when a writer has an allergic reaction and dies. Things are not what they appear to be. Will Megan and Eric discover what happened and solve the case before the book fair is over? Eric gets to meet Megan’s parents and is nervous her father will not like him. Of course, Adam tells him things and this doesn’t help Eric feel any better about meeting her father. How will that turn out?
Great cozy mystery filled with all the things I love...great characters, great storyline, great family/friendships, and a dash of romance! The murder mystery itself has a cast of suspects, and the author kept me guessing throughout the entire book. I admired Meghan’s independence and intelligence. Absolutely loved this book and look forward to the next book in the series! Highly recommend the whole series! I received this book as a beta reader for an honest opinion.
This is an excellent read in a nicely established series. As always, the story is well paced and well written and the characters are likable. When an author who visits Megan's knitting store is murdered, Megan is ready to solve the mystery. There are several new characters in the book and several suspects to choose from. There are plenty of red herrings to satisfy the reader and the ending wraps up well. Megan, our protagonist, is one of my favorites. She's smart, kind and crazy about her family and friends. I received an ARC of this book from the author and I'm voluntarily providing an honest review.
Sins & Needles: A Knitorious Murder Mysteries : Books 7 by Reagan Davis, Audiobook.
Reagan Davis has turned to be one of my favorite cozy mystery writers. I'm loving this series of books.
This time, there is the annual book fair at Harmony Lake and the whole town is planning to attend.
They are going to have several important writers as guests in the book signing, including Megans father who is also an important writer and Claire Rivera, another world known writer, but Claire is found dead and Megans helps in the investion of the murder to find the culprit so that her dad doesn't gets blamed for a crime he didn't commit.
This is the first time Eric gets to meet Megan’s parents and now he has to interrogate him! This book has been so fun to read and it is all I am going to tell you, except that I will say that the series is getting better and better.
So if you want to know what happens, you know what to do: get the book. I highly recommend this book and this series. because at the end it surpassed my expectation.
I love this series. I find the relationship of Meg and Adam kind of funny as they navigated their divorce to become friends and I like how they put their daughter first. I like that she is advancing in her relationship with Eric and they will eventually live together/get married. Meg's father being a famous author and visiting during the book fair was funny in connection with Adam's comments to Eric about how Mitchell hates him and will probably hate him also. The killer was kind of easy to spot in this one, to me anyway, but it didn't take away from the good writing and the great characters. Can't wait for more from her!
This is the seventh in the series. I own this in ebook form and audio. I enjoyed the audio version. The narrator was able to enhance the story for me.
This series is thoroughly enjoyable. The characters get along like a good functional family even though many are not related by blood or marriage. There is no disrespect or disparaging remarks towards the police.
The mysteries are well-plotted and I always learn something new.
In this installment, Megan’s father, a well-known author comes to town for a book celebration. Another author is found dead in a locked room scenario. Megan’s father becomes a suspect and Megan wants to find the truth.
I loved all the twists and turns. I highly recommend this mystery set in Harmony Lake, Canada.
Loved this story. Meeting new characters and suspects is always fun. I found it very well written and fast paced. I think this might be the best one yet! I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
One of my favorite things about this series is the interaction between the characters; the flow is unforced, and there is real respect. Megan naturally ends up in Eric's investigation, which may or may not be murder, and following the author's clues makes the main mystery fairly obvious; the red herrings are good attempts at misdirection, though. Overall this is a pleasant read, although the present tense format is a bit much in places.
It's harderer to review a book I really like than it is to review one I didn't like so much, so I'll share my favorite anecdotal simile from this book:
"Brook's unknown whereabouts is like finding a spider on the ceiling. The situation is tenable as long as you know where the spider is, but if you look up and the spider isn't there, you panic, wondering where it went, and if it's closer to you than you'd like."
It's humor such as this that I like so much about this series. (Did I mention that as I was reading that passage, I had been keeping watch on a centepede that had raced up the wall and onto the ceiling? I lost sigh of it for awhile, but I eventually caught it in a mayo jar and dropped it out a window!
I like to knit and collect yarn. I wish we had a local yarn shop. I also like the people and Sophie. I like everything about the stories. I wish everyone would read them. Please write more books about these people.
It was a treat to meet Megan's FATHER and step mom, & learn a bit about NEEDLE felting, it was not as mysterious mystery as the first 6 books. Although, I still enjoyed the read.
Book 7 is as good as the prior 6 books. I loved getting to know Megan's father and Zoe. I hope they appear in future books. The killer was a surprise and the suspense that led up to finding out keep the mystery alive and interesting. Looking forward to reading book 8.
I can not get enough of this series!! The way the characters all work together and solve mysteries! There is just a little bit of romance and it’s not in your face! I love the fact that the family works so well together despite what has happened! I recommend this book and series! You will not be disappointed!! You will fall in love with the characters as much as I have! I can’t wait to read the next one!
This was a great cozy mystery, my thoughts on who-done-it went back & forth until near the end, where the one I most liked for the crime actually did it. That's a first for me in this series. I love Megan & Eric together and all the other people in their lives, and it was nice to meet her father and stepmother. I love Ms. Davis's books and this series is one of my favourite in this genre. If you like cozy mysteries in small towns, I recommend these books, you won't be disappointed.
I love a book that is filled with twists and turns, wrong turns and false leads. This book has got them!! This is so much fun to read, I really enjoyed this book!! I think Miss Davis has a great imagination and is a very good writer!! The entire series is really good!! And this is probably my favorite book in the series!!
Delightful series with a knitting twist!! I can't wait until the next book is released. Racking my brain to figure out who the author really is. I have a guess, but....
I've been enjoying this series and so far, this is my favorite. It was nice to meet Megan's father and stepmother, and to visit with the residents of Harmony Lake. This is a fun, well-written series set in small-town Canada (new one for me!) that I recommend.
I love the sense of community the characters share. It really is small town Ontario No profanity, no senseless violence, no sex scenes. I'd buy a copy for my granny and I would buy a copy for my granddaughter As usual, another hit for the author.
I am totally into this series. Megan and Eric make a great team and the introduction of Megan’s dad makes the story more intriguing. On to the next book.
Great new characters as well as the usual town characters. The knitting gals store and her family step to their ears in murder and mystery. I look forward to the next episode.
