The Racial Hierarchy: Anti- Blackness Culture and Anti- Black Racism. The Causes and Consequences- An Evolutionary Perspective

Rate this book
Blending evolutionary psychology and cultural evolutionary theory, The Racial Hierarchy is about the clash between being black and what has long been associated in people’s minds with being black in Western culture. From an evolutionary perspective it is an environment black people are mismatched with. That evolutionary mismatch results in dysfunctional behaviour and several other negative consequences for black people. The black community have a lot of questions they want answers to regarding race and behaviour, this book focuses on answering many of those questions in an accessible manner for the reader who doesn’t have a science background. How does our evolutionary past of tribal competition and conflict explain why human beings practice racial prejudice and discrimination? Why is it so common for people to be afraid and suspicious of black men in some contexts where they feel vulnerable, but not men of other races? Why was the Marvel movie, Black Panther, such a cultural event for the black race worldwide? Is racism a bigger problem for black people today in the United Kingdom and the USA compared to the damaging effects of the culture of Anti-Blackness? Why are black men perceived to have higher average levels of masculinity relative to other men and what are the harmful effects of this perception. Racial mass criminalisation/incarceration of black people in the United Kingdom and the USA, what function does it really serve? Why do black people practice Colourism, and what are the social, psychological, and economic consequences of this practice that appears to have infiltrated black cultures around the world? Young black male violence in Britain and America (a.k.a. Black on Black violence), what generates it? Why do we respond very differently to white policemen killing unarmed black males compared to how we respond to the statistically far more likely outcome of one black male killing another? There has been a lot of discussion recently about what is often phrased as the Culture of White Supremacy, what is it, how does it operate, why does it adapt to attempts to destroy it and how can we shield ourselves from it? What does evolutionary logic suggest regarding the strategies black people have been following to improve their image, reputation, economic status and resolve problems specific to the black community? Take a look at the answers to these questions we often have in the black community, and many more, through the lens of the evolutionary behavioural sciences.

Best book I’ve ever read

If you are a black person, and you have an unexplained internal rage that you cannot really explain when you go out into the world. This book outlines it for you. It explains racism in a logical way, and also teaches you how to handle it. It also explains why we see the biases between each other and how it affects our outlook, personal well being, and everyday behavior. Please buy this book.

This should be required reading for every single person in the African and black diaspora. The author is very detailed and uses scientific research and evolutionary psychology to explain why we are at the bottom of the racial hierarchy and offers solutions for how to change our position. A very powerful and insightful book.
