I have been following Ben’s podcasts and YouTube for a while now and when I found out about this book I had to get it. The information in the book is great but the editing is terrible. There are several sections where a paragraph is split in half and I found a few typos. The voice in which he also uses throughout the book can sometimes be a challenge to read. I enjoyed the information enough to finish the book but I don’t believe this is one I will reread.
I’ve read a lot of books on Intermittent Fasting and the Ketogenic diet. As a type 2 Diabetic, this way of eating has kept me off insulin and my A1C score out of diabetic range for 7 years. I really am intrigued by the Keto Flex approach and will give it a try. His book is thorough and organized. His explanations, albeit get “science geeky” at times, are well delivered and understandable. His passion for health is immediately felt by the reader and it is abundantly clear he has done a massive amount of research on this topic.
I recently dove into “Keto Flex” and was thoroughly impressed. This book presents a fascinating twist on the traditional ketogenic diet, emphasizing flexibility and sustainability. The author’s expertise shines through in the clear, concise explanations and the practical application of keto principles to everyday life. The recipes included are both delicious and easy to prepare, making the transition to this way of eating a breeze. What sets this book apart is its holistic approach, considering not just diet, but overall lifestyle. It’s a five-star read for anyone looking to make a healthy change without feeling restricted. “Keto Flex” has certainly earned its place on my recommend list!
I was excited to see that Ben had put together a book of his ideas as I have enjoyed following him on Twitter and YouTube. I was VERY disappointed with his final product. I forced myself to finish the book hoping to glean something. It was very poorly edited which was distracting and sounded like a mixed “word salad” of disjointed thoughts put down on paper. There was no logical flow to the ideas presented and was cryptic and poorly researched. Not a great addition to the health space. He should stick to motivational videos where pithy one liners or mantras are helpful. Sorry but truthful. ☹️
I’ve been following the 28 day post menopause protocol and it’s been great! The book is very detailed and it took me a couple readings to understand everything I should be doing. The results have been remarkable! I didn’t know it was possible to lose my sugar cravings. It’s rough in the beginning, but I feel like after almost three weeks, I’m getting pretty comfortable with the protocol.
Lots of information and can seem overly technical and wordy. Nice recipes, would have been nice to have a summary at the end of the book before the recipes with a concise summary of the various diet schedules ( menopausal, diabetic, etc), you will need to take notes to figure out the plan that you will need to follow
Excellent, thorough book, mostly accessible science (!) and a step by step guide on how to start keto and progress to keto flexing! I loved it! It ties in with a lot of wisdom I already had from others in the field but feels more sustainable and realistic!
He has good data and references, he does a hood job of explaining the why. But keto is not right for everyone, especially perimeno women, who need to build up on protein. Fasting or time restricted eating (he conflates the two) are not right for everyone either.
This book is poorly edited and written. The information in this book can be found all over the internet but instead look for a keto paleo doctor to help you through. I’d give this book a hard pass, waste of my time.
This is more of a reference book for me than a sit down read. I found the chapter on women the most helpful. I'll most likely reference it in the future.
