Full disclosure- I know the author through writing group.

The final installment in the trilogy really delivers! Lin, the heroine, learns how to assert herself, through a tense climax and satisfying conclusion.

But what I really love about this series, in general, and this book, in particular, is that the “evil” we fight isn’t some external threat like monster, aliens, or demons. And it’s not monolithic. Even the “most free” country has the potential to be oppressive, and the supposedly most righteous can be the most depraved. We fight small battles for freedom, justice, love, and harmony in our daily lives - here those battles are mode epic.

Another thing I like about this series is that every character feels real and natural. I especially like that a shy girl is the hero! Her shyness comes through without her being flat or boring. She’s very complex actually and smart.

Overall I greatly enjoyed the whole series.
