“The wicked, the damned, the unsavable... St. Catherine’s was the home for tainted young women.”
They said they could cure my addiction. They promised that with the help of the lord I’d be cured and be reborn again as a new woman. I’d no longer be a disgrace to the McKinney name. I’d finally be saved. But then like a storm, Arsen came along and ruined everything. A fallen angel with demons of his own, we were destined for chaos. But he didn’t come here for me. He came for answers...for the truth of what really happened and instead we found something far more sinister going on behind the doors of St. Catherine’s. It’s halls were scattered with secrets and covered in lies while it’s walls were tainted in blood. We soon unraveled the depraved web of deceit that lurked within the shadows of the school. A sickening truth that would tarnish St. Catherine’s reputation and destroy the lives of the young women in it.
Remi Rose lives in Missouri with her boyfriend, young daughter and lazy dog. When she's not writing, she's either watching a serial killer documentary or eating way too much chocolate.
OMFG OMFG, a book that has given me so much fucking anxiety 😩🖤 Remi Rose’s first ever Dark DARK ROMANCE, the anxiety I got while reading this was a fucking rollercoaster of suspense, hate, love, every word in the dang dictionary.

An absolutely amazing book! Remi is a new author to me and I loved her writing, this book was HOT.
Charlotte currently attends catholic school to ‘heal’ her of her sex addiction. However, whilst she is there a girl dies and she finds the body. Now she needs to figure out if it was suicide or if someone murdered her. Unfortunately for Charlotte, a handsome man comes to St Catherine’s asking questions and he to wants to find out what happened. The problem being, the way Charlotte feels around this man is not helping her addiction. Especially when his mouth is full of sin.
This was an explosive story, with lots of twists and turns. I throughly enjoyed it.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐒𝐢𝐧 by Remi Rose was a 𝐅*𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 roller coaster ride of anxiety and my heart is 𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐋𝐋 racing in overdrive just thinking back to this total 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐟*𝐜𝐤 of a read that destroyed me. This author gave us a beautifully dark and poetic tale full of murder, mystery, lies, and the perfect amount of sexiness that will ignite your soul. Remi Rose's use of imagery in her storytelling helped to breathe authentic life into this story and the unique characters that she created for her readers.
Charlotte McKinney and Arsen Hale were enemies from the moment they laid eyes on each other, but their angsty desires for one another quickly replaces their hatred with lusty moments that sets your heart and soul 𝐚𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐞. The chemistry between Charlotte and Arsen was steamy as 𝐟*𝐜𝐤 and 𝐨𝐡 𝐦𝐲 𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐧 did their banter leave me all 𝐡𝐨𝐭 and 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 while I found myself lost amongst the pages of this twisted and chaotic tale. The darkness that is found deep inside is what draws them together and their search for Pheobe's (Arsen's sister) murder(s) binds their souls 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫.
Nothing about this story is as it seems, and just when you think you have all the clues figured out, the author throws a wrench in your way AND you are left completely blindsided. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐒𝐢𝐧 was a phenomenal 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐞𝐬-𝐭𝐨-𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬 romance and I was 𝐋𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐆 for every 𝐟*𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 second of it! Hands down one of my all-time favorite romantic suspense reads to date and I am already eagerly anticipating the upcoming standalone release, 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐮𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐒𝐢𝐧 (𝑽𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚 & 𝑫𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑷𝒊𝒆𝒓𝒄𝒆), which is set in this 𝐂𝐑𝐀𝐙𝐘 world!
i am SO upset about this book. i thought this could be a five star read, but everything fell apart after the 40% mark.
i think "sex addict finds a dead body and then fucks the dead girl's brother" could've been super fun. the book WAS fun when it was just arsen and charlotte running around being sexually frustrated trying to find clues.
PROBLEM: i am so fucking sick of books having characters in high school/being 17 when there's no reason to have them be this young, this is a dark romance and arsen is 6-7 years older than charlotte. but you don't find this out until you're already 70% into the book. you can't just make the underage girl sexually active (or a sex addict, in this case) and now it's okay to have a relationship between the 17 and 24 year old. the author could've just made charlotte 18 instead of 17 and i wouldn't feel as grossed out by the entire thing. it's semantics that were specifically included to add to the "taboo" aspect when it didn't need to be there. the "high school" setting didn't even add anything to the story, they never do homework, they don't seem to attend classes. the only reason this is set in a high school is so that phoebe could fuck a teacher. but you could've put these girls in church rehab setting and NOT have it be a high school. fucking a person who has power over you is still bad, it didn't need to be a high school setting. SOLUTION: age up all the teenagers. they're young adults now. 22 years old maybe. arsen can still be 6 years older and now he's 28 and this works better because now i'm not wondering if this dumbass even has a job. the "high school" is now an addiction rehab program set in a church. literally nothing has to change. the setting actually makes MORE sense now and now we can have MORE horny religion scenes. include group therapy sessions. now we can organically learn why all the girls are here but there can also be infighting and drama. this also works as an easy way to manipulate the girls.
PROBLEM: super cliche "kill all men - yes ALL men" buffoonery. absolutely ridiculous. cult of young women initiation to have phoebe seduce a teacher purely because he's a man. yeah, he shouldn't have engaged with her, but like, the entire thing was DUMB. i can handle some taboo shit, i can handle a student seducing a teacher (she is 18 so it makes you feel slightly less yucky, but it's still bad), but seducing the teacher to get him fired as an initiation for the weird "kill all men" cult? dumb. just fucking dumb. predatory lesbians are the murderers. the lesbians are the most evil and they sexually assault charlotte. it didn't need to be there. it doesn't contrast with charlotte's relationship to arsen. they don't know she's a sex addict so there's no commentary there. it was pointless. SOLUTION: phoebe fucks a priest. it's right there. why did it have to be a teacher. and honestly convincing a priest to leave religion is probably way more damaging than ruining a teacher's life. a teacher can move to a new school. a priest doesn't have a backup plan. no lesbian kill all men cult. that's fucking dumb. do literally anything other than that. the entire "mystery" part of this book needs major fixing. i don't want to offer up solutions because this is such a major fix.
PROBLEM: is charlotte REALLY a sex addict? from solely what the book tells us - she had sex ONCE with two guys and they recorded her and posted it online. and she thinks she's a sex addict because she's always thinking about sex. meanwhile she's like, a 16 year old girl. AND THAT'S IT? there's no established pattern of behavior, there's no consequences of her supposed addiction (of her own doing, she could've only had sex one time and it could have been recorded and posted, this was not a consequence of her own actions). and i honestly do not believe that we are supposed to assume that she is not a sex addict, but sentenced away by her parents because the book makes it a point that charlotte herself tells her parents that she's addicted to sex. if charlotte IS a sex addict, it literally never gets resolved. it gets written away and arsen enables her. but it's fine now because charlotte is underage and left high school and no one seemingly cares? so this means she is not a sex addict now. for some reason. or she is a sex addict but it's okay because she's only fucking arsen. which is still not dealing with a sex addiction????? read Addicted to You by krista and becca ritchie if you want a character with an actual sex addiction. it takes place in college and doesn't suck. SOLUTION: make it obvious that she was either 1) truly a sex addict or 2) sentenced away by her parents. this can be a question for the audience, but honestly i don't think the author could handle trying to do anything cleverly here
PROBLEM: there's multiple instances where there's just careless typos. if anyone beta read this, they would've caught them. i don't really care about continuity as long as the story is fun, but typos like this are pretty unprofessional and kind of ridiculous to have in your self published novel. - there's a random "2" at the end of a sentence (21%) - "tops of her shoes" should be "tip of her shoes" (50%) - there's a half of a sentence that was never finished. it just starts and doesn't end and then there's a new paragraph. (i can't find it, i should've screenshot or something) SOLUTION: edit your book. the sex scenes were mostly good but some of the phrasing was choppy. i am not kidding when i say that this entire book needs to be edited. and honestly, we deserved MORE sex scenes. they tease each other and then they're talking about being devoted to each other. the character development was not great. we needed more scenes that start as sex scenes and then turn into them just talking. we needed more "pillow talk".
PROBLEM: i'm not even gonna get into the "mystery" and how obnoxious it all was. the mystery was bad. charlotte and arsen didn't solve anything. it was all told directly to them. the final "fight scene" was dumb. the entire conflict needs major workshopping. SOLUTION: we needed more clues about who phoebe's mystery guy was. and honestly, with such a small setting, it's OBVIOUS that it's going to be the priest. we needed a different guy who was sneaking in to see her or to be introduced to more men. give her a psychologist who is too close to her. give her an ex boyfriend who is obsessed with her. give her SOMETHING interesting. i would even take a "was she fucking her brother?" thread at this point. just give me SOMETHING.
Talk about a crazy ride! This story is steamy, hott and total chaos! Charlotte has always been told to look perfect, be perfect mistakes are not acceptable. I hated her parents and how they made her feel. When she's shipped to St. Catherine's she didn't know what she was getting herself into. This book has everything! Suspense, twists and turns the mystery of it all and so many steamy moments. The Secrets of a Sin is dark and had me on edge full of anxiety. Also, can I just say that I wish I had a brother like Arsen. I love that he never held out hope and Phoebe will always be in his heart. Such a great book.
This book is so deliciously dark! Charlotte is the daughter of the mayor and is sent away to a school known for taking care of “broken girls” and “fixing” them. Arsen comes into her life looking for answers. What they find with each other is so much MORE!
This book will have your emotions all over the place and on the edge of your seat. It’s full of secrets and lies and mystery and spice. There’s a lot of triggers that can go in here but I highly suggest going in blind if your not easily bothered.
I went into this book thinking that it was a beautiful dark academia/dark romance novel, and I wasn’t disappointed.
The book starts off with our main girl, Charlotte who was sent to an all girls Christan school where bad girls go to be reformed. She was sent here due to her sexual tendencies that were “disrespectful” to her picture perfect family. Charlotte discovers a fellow students dead body on a morning jog, though it is ruled as suicide.
This brings in Arsen, the dead girls brother who is here to prove that his sister didn’t kill herself and that she was murdered. Tension arises between Arsen and Charlotte mixed in with hatred that blossoms into something sexual.
This story was honestly a shock to me in more than one ways, though I was a little bit disappointed in some of the writing aspects, specifically the dialogue. It felt a little bland at times, and it just wasn’t my preferred style of dialogue. Though the the pace of the novel felt slow but quick at the same time and this confused me a little.
But overall I really enjoyed this novel, and I was a little surprised to find this was the authors first darker novel. I definitely recommend she writes more!
Thank you to the author and Peachy Keen Author Services for the arc!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports

Well that a nervous breakdown between two covers. I swear I was so nervous while reading this book and I have to admit I really love when a book affects me that much and makes me feel. However I could do with never having a panic attack again in my life. This is a dark romance and man does it deliver darkness in spades. In this book we meet Charlotte McKinney who is the daughter of the Mayor of McKinney. But she soon finds herself sent to St. Catherine's. A school known for taking care of sinful, damaged young ladies. Arsen is looking for answers and once she has seen something she probably has the answers she is looking for. But with the answers comes a whole lot of secrets and lies and maybe a nervous wreck of a reader. This one will keep you on your toes for sure. I loved every single second of it.
i am astonished…this was just everything. it was dark and romantic as much as it was captivating. the plot was just crafted to be beautifully dark and twisted and the romance was equally both dark and hella cute. like seriously, once you get over the whole ‘enemies’ and denial portion, you get to see that arsen would burn the world for charlotte- which was just perfection. i love that the romance was equally hot as it was adorable. cannot wait for verity and detective pierce’s book!
Murder mystery meets dark romance in this sinful standalone. The author did a great job entwining the two and ensuring that neither stole the spotlight, they work together symbiotically to create an entrancing story.
You’ll be on the edge of your seat the entire time wondering who the characters can trust. I did have my theories but I enjoyed the twists and turns that the author put us through before the revealing climax. I also really enjoyed the bonus epilogue that gave us a glimpse into the next novel in this world.
I feel like I don’t want to say too much about the book because it’s hard to describe everything without giving bits and pieces away. I will say, it is multiple points of view, read the trigger warnings since it is a dark romance and enjoy the ride.
Genre: Romance Suspense Tropes: Enemies to Lovers, Dark Romance, Alpha Male, Boarding School. Plot 5/5 Spice 5/5 Angst 4/5 I've just finished Remis's book and have binged it since last night bearing sleep. This has been it. Charlotte gets sent to St Catherine's to treat her 'addiction.' Once arriving, she soon realizes, all is not what it seems. After a shocking incident, she meets Arsen and promises to help him find answers to said incident. The steam, tension, and power of the couple blew me away. LIKE WOW. Arsen is it for me, gahhhh. This book made me feel all sorts and u can't wait to read Verity's story next.
Ever since i found out about Ms.Rose's books last year i've been wanting to pick up her work! As soon as this one was announced it caught my eye right away and i knew i had to read it first! I so enjoyed this story!
Charlotte's journey at St. Catherine's pulled me in quickly! I wasn't sure what all to expect in this story and that had me even more glued to my kindle. I really liked how it kept me on my toes. The heat throughout was so blushworthy. I really enjoyed what Arsen brought to this story! I felt so many things throughout with both Charlotte and Arsen!
With The Secrets of a Sin, Ms.Rose has created such a good and different kind of dark read that you won't want to turn away from! I already can't wait to pick up more of her books in the future!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Peachy Keen Author Services / the author*
The rollercoaster of emotions, love, hate SUSPENSE and THE FUCKING SPICE.
Damn damn damn, Remi Rose's first dark romance and SHE NAILED IT. The chaos, twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat but a certain someone had me on edge 💦💦💦 👀
I need to reread this because I'm still reeling 😩
5/5 Plot - Murder Mystery 5/5 Spice
Well done Remi Rose, you've left a mark on me, in more ways than one and I'm not complaining 🥳🥳🥳
Charlotte is considered a sinful girl. Wicked and vile. She thinks there’s something wrong with her. Her family decides to send her to St. Catherine school for troubled girls. And when Arsen shows up looking for answers he won’t take no for an answer. This is was such an adventure reading. I wanted nothing more than Charlotte to accept who she was I was rooting for her the whole time. This book had so many twists and turns. Sinful and full of mystery and I loved it 💜
“Because now that Arsen has had me, I’d never stop wanting more.” __________________
I have never highlighted so many quotes in a book in my LIFE!!
Literally almost every other page I was swooning over something Char or Arsen was saying.
Arsen BLEW past all my top boyfriends this year. It’s going to be hard to pick a favorite this year.
This story had some great tension, twists, turns, and thrills. I was so captivated by the mystery around Char and Arsen. As I got further into the book I knew deep in my gut what the answer was but that was NOT what I was prepared for!
Remi Rose this book was beautifully executed. I loved it and can’t wait for Verity’s book!!
Wow wow wow. The Secrets of a Sin by Remi Rose is a dark romance filled with lust, suspense, sin, and mystery.
Charlotte ends up at St. Catherine’s school after she’s involved in a scandal back home that threatens her reputation and her family’s. There, she comes across a tragedy that throws her in the middle of the sinister happenings at the school. Arsen Hale, related to someone else at the school, is seeking answers, and Charlotte becomes a key player to finding those answers.
This book hooked me from the start and was quite the rollercoaster. And as you can tell from the quote above, wickedly hot. I had so many highlighted passages I struggled to choose one to feature in this post lol.
"I wanted her ruined. I wanted her mine." The Secrets of a Sin by Remi Rose
Oh my fallen angel Arsen Hale...your childhood ruined you but you're so beautiful. You really feel for this MMC. His past pain paired with his present grief is palpable; it pulls you through the story. Charlotte is his wicked salvation, and he is hers, damaged and aching in their own ways, a culmination of heaven and hell. I was captivated by this book.
I adored the FMC's growth. Charlotte shifts from resenting herself and her desires to realising she can have a normal life with the one who doesn't just spark embers, but detonates fireworks. Their sexual scenes are uniquely written, not focused on the physical aspect alone, but on their connection. There's the shift from "I need you once to get you out of my head" to "if I have you once, I'll be addicted". Also yes, there is an altar scene. They're the perfect little match made in hell.
One particularly intriguing part of this book for me was the imagery (I know I say that a lot, bear with me). It wasn't the standard depictions of architecture or clothes that was the focus, but everything intangible. Sensations, thoughts, emotions...all described so well you can feel them pouring from your brain.
It really gets into the religious and cult-related ideologies, expectations, and trauma pressed into you by families and schools. It's a difficult subject to address artfully, being made to believe the things you desire are sinful. This is made more interesting with the mystery component, always looking over your shoulder and never knowing who to trust.
Some blood play awakens Charlotte while the primal play exhilarates her, and the innate appeal of primal feelings is written so accurately as something powerful and sacred, not a simple kink. There's also a cheeky voyeurism scene (FFF). Nothing felt too pushed or forced into the story, it all flowed exceptionally well and suited the characters.
I feel no joy like getting an ARC and loving everything about it, and I finished this in a flight across the Atlantic, I was so into it. One of my most highlighted books and now I have a new obsession with Remi Rose's mind.
This book was so freaking good. There were so many twists and turns that kept you on the edge of your seat dying to see what was going to happen next. Watching Charlotte grow and accept who she is was quite the transformation this was so relatable for someone who goes through the same things. Thinking there is something wrong with who you are because of the feelings you have but then learning and actually accepting who you are and accepting that its not wrong and Arsen is there every step of the way. These two were made for one another. This story was so captivating and I highly recommend.
Charlotte gets sent to St Catherine for girls who need guidance. When she gets there she keeps her head down and tries to get better. She goes for a run and finds the bloody body of Phoebe Hale. Then things start to get really weird. Arsen Hale doesn’t believe his sister is dead and wants to find out what happened, and Arsen convinces Charlotte to help him. These two hate each other but the attraction is intense. Will they find out what happened to Phoebe before something happens to them ? Great characters and storyline. Highly recommended Amazing Book. This books have so many twists and turns definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat. Check trigger warnings. This is my first book by this author definitely not my last.
I feel like Booktok told me the best quotes of this book and reading the rest was kind of a bummer lol the murder mystery part was cool, I was on the fence about whether or not I liked Arsen the whole time. It was interesting but I wouldn't recommended or re-read lol and I'll pass on Verity's book.
This was an amazing DARK ROMANCE filled with suspense and spice. 🩸
Charlotte has a 3 sum for her “first time” and ends up being the talk of the town after a viral sex video of her is sent out to the world.. and since she is the mayor’s daughter her parents send her to a religious school — St. Catherine’s School for “damaged girls.” Kai, one of the guys involved in the 3 sum sent the sex tape out and when she demands why, he says, “We wanted you, but I wanted to ruin you more.”
Now she is at St. Catherine’s to be “fixed” of her sex addiction and while going for one of her daily runs and comes across the dead body of a girl at St. Catherine’s.
The brother of the girl Charlotte found dead, Arsen Hale shows up at St. Catherine’s demanding to know who murdered his sister. He looks like a fallen angel with his messy hair the shade of midnight and a face sculpted like an angel.. “he felt like sin.”
Charlotte and Arsen team up to figure out who really murdered his sister but that’s not all they end up doing… 😉
“If I was a gentleman, you wouldn’t be getting your ass licked or pussy eaten, so be fucking thankful I’m a dick because I’m about to ravage your body.”
Arsen acts as if he has been with many women and just “fucks” but things change with Charlotte. “Come here, let me hold you, please?” “Why do I have a feeling you’ve never done this before?” “Because I haven’t, I don’t cuddle..”
“I think it’s about time that I make myself clear and that you get it through that pretty little head of yours that you’re mine, I fucking mean it.”
With my free hand, I reach down for hers and pull it up until her palm is resting directly over my heart. “You feel that? My heart only beats that way with you.”
“You’re mine Charlotte, whether you want to accept it or not. Every inch of your perfect flesh will only ever feel me. Your eyes will only ever see mine, and your heart will only beat for me.”
I went back and forth on who the murderer could be, but had my suspicions correct for majority of the book. CRAZY! And the ending?! ALSO CRAZY!!!!
“Let me be the man who worships you forever, let’s take you home angel.”
Also… I can’t wait for the next installment!
I gave this book a 5/5 ⭐️ I really loved the tension, suspense, steamy romance and the plot was so good!

I understand and respect smut for the pure pleasure of smut but I couldn’t get into it because of the horrible grammar and word use of phrases like: “what I have just written causes every organ inside my organ to twist painfully” Or “his ascending anger”. I had to stop at 25%. Please get a better editor
The editing needs work. Spoilers** when charlotte is being interrogated Welch said she couldnt leave her since shes 17, few chapters later, shes 18. when arsen came the first time to the school at midnight, char goes from having leggings to shorts like back and forth. some other spelling/grammar errors that kinda ruined the storyline. Also the author could’ve easily ready some Dr charts to base her writing off of bc when they read the physician recommendations for annalise, priscilla and verity, they were laughable. Also, howww did the girls say that after slashing Phoebes throat they stabbed her in the chest? The coroner just didnt see the wound and proceeded with the suicid ruling? do ppl go around slashing and stabbing themselves voluntarily? Small things like this made this book not as enjoyable.
I read so many review's and got so excited about this book I couldn't wait to read it then when I did it was such a let down and that every book is in the eye of the beholder because i didn't really see much in this book I got bored after the 7th page and then had to skim through it so i could just find out what happened to the sister then I was like really that's crazy Wickerman shit I will not read another book from this author and this was my first from them.
Interesting read just lots of mistakes. At the beginning the girl dies by slit throat. Towards end it was slit throat and stab to chest. The h is a sex addict, she meets H after his sisters supposed suicide. Turns out a teacher and 3 girls have a man hating cult. They killed his sis. They kidnap H/h. One of the girls calls cops and they are saved. The H/ h had very stupid moments especially when they fell for the 3 girls bs, after they already knew they were crazy. Lots of skimming.

WOW. this book was so fucking good, no one talk to me for weeks, i’m processing. Arsen is the boy of my fucking dreams and it physically pains me that i will never get to have sex with him.
My god was this book filled with the perfect combo of murder, mystery, lies and so much steam 🥵. If you plan on reading this book I'd advise you to not do so in public!
Charlotte is a student at St. Catherine's school for girls. A school that promises to reform and reintroduce into society young and tainted women. Where they are promised to receive help from God's hand to overcome their "problems" and live a normal life. After a video of Charlotte ruins her and her family's reputation, she is sent to St. Catherine's so she can get the help she needs to cure her addiction. For six months, Char battles her addiction while working to obtain her diploma. Where she meets 3 girls who suddenly begin paying her attention after being ignored for months since she first arrived at the school.
Her life changes one night when she has a nightmare that only serves to make her feel regret. So she decides to go out on a run to clear her head. During that run, she comes across something that will forever change her life, the dead body of one of her classmates, Phoebe. After an investigation is conducted, her death is ruled as a suicide.
Unable to accept it, Phoebe's brother, Arsen sets out on a mission to prove that she was murdered and promises to burn down to the ground St. Catherine's and make them pay for failing Phoebe with the help of Charlotte. Marking the beginning of a lot of sexual tension and dirty talk between these two.
Charlotte proves just how defying and unwilling she is to submit to Arsen. And Arsen loves the chase and pushing Charlotte to her limits. Proving just how much he wants her and how possessive he is of her once she finally submits. Their banter and willingness to protect each other made their relationship all the more amazing, and that church scene was 🥵🥵🔥.
That ending had me shocked. I was not expecting it at all, but it made sense. I loved this book and am most definitely buying the paperback now! Arsen and Charlotte's HEA was well deserved. I can't wait to read Verity's story next!
