***Professor Hunter is back and better than ever - in Scarlett Hunter's story!***

Blurb:
Hi, I’m Scarlett Hunter and I’m addicted to my best friend Axel Stevens.

Yeah…it’s a huge problem. I’ve been in love with him basically my whole life, and I’ve been friend zoned. Hard.

But I’m nothing if not good at solving problems. The solution to my Axel issue: I reinvented myself over the summer.

I’ve ditched the glasses, upgraded my wardrobe, and have finally mastered the perfect strut in heels.

Plus, fate is on my side. Axel is single for the first time in forever. So I’m going to walk into Empire High on my first day of senior year and win him over once and for all.

My plan is flawless. You have my word – I’ll be wearing his varsity jacket by the end of the day.

🔥 THE GOOD 🔥

(1) ⪼ ℝ𝕖𝕔𝕜𝕝𝕖𝕤𝕤 𝔾𝕒𝕞𝕖𝕤 ⪻

This short novella is 4 chapters + an epilogue (set 2 weeks later, post graduation). It is set in the Rixon High world and follows Carrie-Anne Trombley and Bryan Hughes who are in their last few weeks of senior year. I saw this was a part of the anthology and knew immediately I had to read it... even though I was spoiling some of Tragic Lies for myself, I did not mind one bit tbh.

🍃 KEY THINGS ABOUT THIS NOVELLA 🍃
Trope: enemies-to-lovers

Steam Factor: low

↪ It is a part of inter-connected standalone series. This novella takes place after Tragic Lies but before Ruined Hopes

Is there a HEA? Kinda // it is a happy for now ending. The issues of different colleges was placed on the backburner as they are in the honeymoon phase of their relationship

(2) ⪼ 𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝕎𝕠𝕣𝕕𝕤 ⪻

The Words by Ashley Jade will be a standalone novel that will be released tentatively in March 2022. A. Jade only gave a prologue teaser in the anthology and it had me wanting more from these characters!

🎶 KEY THINGS ABOUT THIS BOOK 🎶
▻ Follow characters who are musically gifted

Setting: seniors in high school

▻ Told in dual perspective - Phoenix [broody hero] and Lennon [quiet nerdy heroine]

Tropes: MC from the wrong side of the tracks, enemies-to-lovers, & forced proximity

👎︎ THE BAD 👎︎
description

(1) ⪼ 𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝕊𝕒𝕧𝕒𝕘𝕖 ⪻

Daniela Romero is a new-to-me author. I went into this sneak peek open-minded and thought it was going to be a bully romance. NO, it is definitely not... this book is very problematic and one I will NOT continue once released.

〖KEY THINGS ABOUT THIS BOOK〗
↬ ⚠️ Trigger warnings: ⚠️ attempted suicide, rape, self harm, suicidal ideation

70% of this sneak peek was campus sexual violence & suicide statistics. Basically, the main heroine would talk to the reader in her inner monologues about statistics she found on Google. Ahh, the almighty Google Gods...

Nightingale effect - Cecilia (h) falls for Gabriel (H) who prevented her from dying by suicide

OVERALL

If you are looking for a good documentary on this topic manner, I highly recommend you check out: The Hunting Ground

Any who ~

This book so far was a terrible representation of someone struggling through the aftermath of sexual violence. I understand the author tried to bring awareness to rape culture on college campuses but if you are going to do that, it needs to be developed well. Specifically, it should not be written in a way that the rape survivor finds her voice or handles her trauma through falling for the guy that prevented her death by suicide... Lastly, throwing statistics into a book does not = raising great awareness on this subject.

(2) ⪼ ℝ𝕖𝕝𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕝𝕖𝕤𝕤 ⪻

↬ Shantel Tessier is a new-to-me author and unfortunately this will not be a book I will continue once it is released. Relentless will be a full length novel that is a bully romance that pushes some major boundaries.

〖KEY THINGS ABOUT THIS BOOK〗
Taboo fuckery is locked in for this one as this book starts off with Oakley (main heroine) having an affair with her step-father

Dubious and no consent were already present by chapter 3

Blackmail: Chase gets Oakley as a play thing so the video of her isn't released to everyone

This book reminds me of a mix between Fear Me & Hate Me. So that being said, you may enjoy this book, if you liked either of those books.

FINAL VERDICT

description
❓ THE QUESTIONABLE ❓
description

(1) ⪼ 𝕊𝕔𝕒𝕣𝕝𝕖𝕥𝕥 ⪻
↬ Ivy Smoak is a new-to-me author and gives a 5 chapter sneak peak in the anthology. It is told only from the main heroine's POV - Scarlett who is a senior at Empire High. There are other characters set in the Empire High universe, this is just Scarlett's story! So far, Scarlett has the quintessential mean girl group causing trouble with main heroine and makeover trope. Lastly, it alludes to a possible love triangle & friends-to-lovers trope.

How is it questionable

↪ DOUBLE STANDARD: HIGH ⇈ // 2/5 chapters were focused on how Scarlett was dressed inappropriately with a short skirt... yet her brother wore his uniform incorrectly and that was considered OK.

↪ PLOT: So far, the plot seems rather predictable and the drama is rather petty between the characters already.

✨👠 Will I read this book? 👠✨
Maybe // Although it seems somewhat problematic already, I am open to give this book the benefit of the doubt and see where it leads. Jacob >>> Axel intrigued me more and there was some decent angst that I liked with the book.

(2) ⪼ 𝕎𝕚𝕔𝕜𝕖𝕕 𝕊𝕦𝕞𝕞𝕖𝕣 𝕂𝕟𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥 ⪻

A dark bully romance prequel told in dual perspective - Estella “Stella” and Sebastian.

Brief story plot
↳ Stella (h) recently moved from the states to London for her senior year. The summer before her senior year has been uneventful as her father made a strict rule of her not leaving the house at all until school starts. Stella decides to sneak out one night and ends up in a cemetery where she meets Sebastian (H). They instantly connect and end up hooking up. However, this is not going to be a fun memory for Stella as Sebastian has his reservations about her and sees her as his target now at school.

OVERALL -
Steam Factor: High

Plot: It piqued my interest but it remains to be seen if it is overall developed well... as I can already see some of it being predictable

Will I read this book? Yes. Originally, I read Thorn by Tracy Lorraine and it was an “ehh, okay” read, I am hoping this one will be better

Disclaimer: Only a 5 chapter sneak peek

Full length novel will be released on October 19 2021

(3) ⪼ 𝕍𝕒𝕣𝕤𝕚𝕥𝕪 ℂ𝕒𝕡𝕥𝕒𝕚𝕟 ⪻
↬ In the anthology, Ginger Scott gives a five chapter sneak peek of this novel. This novel will be a part of series and I highly recommend to either start with this book or read as part of the series. It is told only from main hero POV - Lucas Fuller. The timeline partly matches with Varsity Heartbreaker & is intended to compliment the first book in the Varsity series.

How is it questionable: Varsity Heartbreaker was a watered down version of Bully by Penelope Douglas. I feel that Varsity Captain will ultimately be the watered down version of Until You (which is the same story as Bully but told in Jared's POV).

↬ Will I read this book? Yes // I would like to see if Lucas is redeemable as a hero at all and if Varsity series continues to mirror Fall Away series by Penelope Douglas.

Release date: October 15, 2021

11. Reckless Games by L.A. Cotton ~ 4*
I've never read anything by L.A. Cotton before this but what a perfect introduction for me! I enjoyed every word of Bryan and Carrie-Anne's story. It's a finished one which is nice from the rest of these. But it has many side characters, that I'm sure are Main Characters in their own books. I'm eager to try reading the Rixon High series soon!

10. The Hate I Feel by Siobhan Davis ~ 5*
WHY did I wait to read this story almost last?!? I thought because I haven't read the Rydeville Series, YET bc I'm about to after this, that I wouldn't be into it. How wrong I was! It was so good. Zayn wants revenge and he's going to use the daughter of his enemy to do that. Of course, Emery isn't what he expected. She's not like her father. Zayn actually likes her. Unfortunately, his need for revenge is very, very strong. I can't wait for this to become a full length novel but it doesn't look like it'll be that soon. Whenever it happens though I'll be there!!

2. The Words by Ashley Jade ~ 5*
This is probably the shortest of the anthology but its ok because it has everything to make an amazing story. I can tell I'm going to love it bc Lennon and Phoenix already hold my heart. (I actually finished the entire book and it was a beautiful story!)

8. Tease Me by Piper Lawson ~ 5*
If you know me then you know I LOVE the student/teacher stories. So right away I was into this. After flirting and making out with the hottest guy, Liv is hopeful to see him again but doesn't expect it. Imagine both their surprises when she walks into class to see he's her new teacher! Someone is threatening to show a naughty video of Liv to her family and Sawyer refuses to let that happen. I have already downloaded the full version of this book, Crave because I am too excited to see where things are gonna go with these two!

1. Wicked Summer Knight by Tracey
Lorraine ~ 5*

O.M.G. This prequel is smoking hot! I loved these two broken characters and cannot wait for the rest of their story. My first experiences with a Tracy Lorraine story was epic! I'm one-clicking her right now.
(IMMEDIATELY read all three books and adored them!)

9. Hot Summer School Night by Michelle Mankin ~ 4*
Good girl, Claire, from the "right side" of town meets bad boy, Kyle, who's from the "wrong side" of town for one beautiful night. They meet accidentally. Kyle is a drug dealer and working at the rich kids school for a night. They see each other across the room and its practically love at first sight. After deciding to spend more time together they BOTH know they could have something amazing together except Claire doesn't realize what Kyle does for work. He knows that he's not good enough for her and leaves at the end. My heart was hurting for both of them. I can't wait to start the second book after that cliffhanger!!
(Finished the duet and still loved Kyle so hard. I wanted to both f@ck him and hug him.💜)

3. The Savage by Daniela Romero ~ 5*
This is a perfect beginning to something great. Cecelia attempts suicide, not a spoiler bc its on page 1, but is saved by Gabriel. Cecelia is still depressed. They didn't know each other before but now Gabe can't stay away. I'm planning to start the full book asap!
(update 2/13- The book doesn't release for another month!! 😭😭😭😭)
(update 3/17-And pushed back another month😭😡😭😡)
(update 4/18- Its currently in my hands!😃😃😃😃)

7. Varsity Captain by Ginger Scott ~ 4*
Lucas and June were best friends as children. Probably on their way to more. There's some kind of drama with Lucas' parents and June's mom (don't know what at this point in the story) that makes Lucas pick his family over friendship and proceeds to ghost June. For years they avoided each other and matured but they never really got over each other. Its their senior year and things are about to change. I liked this alot. I'm new to this author but I'm excited for more!

5. Scarlett by Ivy Smoak ~ 4*
I've always enjoyed makeover stories. This probably stems from my awkward teenage years when I too wanted to come back to school after summer vacay and have my crush fall totally in love with me! Lol Anywho, this was fun. Scarlett has decided this year she's going to turn Axel's head in her direction. She has all types of obstacles but it doesn't matter she's determined. Apparently, Scarlett is the child of the authors characters from Temptation which is a student/teacher story... Which is a favorite of mine and is now at the top of my tbr list.

4. In A Week by Becca Steele ~ 3*
So, I liked revisiting all the characters from Trick Me Twice including Imogene and Xavier who are the MCs in this short story. I did like them. But I don't like this books particular trope, not when I'm watching a movie, TV or reading. I just don't enjoy people that feel one way but NEVER talk about it or is honest. Oh well. I still enjoy this author alot.

6. Relentless by Shantel Tessier ~ 5*
OH. EM. GEE. Shantel Tessier definitely has a way of making the worst kind of guy into something desirable. Chase has had a "crush" on Oakley since they were kids but bc he's a male he thinks bullying her is the way to her heart. As he gets older, the pranks become much darker. I can't wait for this to release but it doesn't look like it'll be anytime soon which is extremely disappointing because this was GOOD.

FAVORITE STORY: Wicked Summer Knight
LEAST FAVORITE: In A Week (it was still good just my least fave)

Review of The Hate I Feel by Siobhan Davis

I WANT MOREEEE! I loved the Elite series and this short story was no less addicting.

Zayn wants revenge and he’ll cross any boundary to get it. Emery is his mark and he’ll do whatever he needs, to get what he needs, to facilitate his end game.

This was a quick read but it gave us a lot of story. Zayn is arrogant, but loves his brother. He’s definitely multi-layered and I cannot wait for more of him. Emery was sweet and sheltered, but a girl who knows her own mind. Together they they will be a force. Their attraction was instant and their chemistry undeniable. I was hooked immediately and the author definitely left me yearning for more.

Review of Relentless by Shantel Tessier

Holy Smokin Hotness!!!

The author takes you from taboo to depraved all in a temptingly sexy and sizzling short story. I loved this small taste of a bully romance I hope we get more of in the future.

Oakley thinks she can handle anything. I think she has met her match. Senior year is going to be HOTTTT!

The author always delivers the heat and pushes boundaries. This story is no different and all I can say is give me more!

So far, I've read two short stories featured in this anthology. My reviews of them are below.

Hot Summer School Night
by Michelle Mankin

A juicy lead in to her longer story, this story will have you sitting on the edge of your seat the whole way through. As the title suggests, this is a hot, steamy romance set in Michelle's Southside High world where Kyle, a low level drug dealer, is fighting to keep ahead of his own game.  He hides his broken dreams under that cocky facade, blending in, paying his never ending debt and staying off the greedy top dog's radar. Not so easy, especially after a chance meeting with a beautifully awkward, wealthy Lakeside girl who is way out of his league but she doesn't see him as anything less than her knight in shining armour. Kyle has revealed his true poetic, creative soul to her and there's no going back now...until he has no choice.  Lakeside and Southside can never mix...or can they??  There's more heartbreak waiting for these star crossed lovers...and I can't wait to see what happens next!

Tempt Me
by Piper Lawson

Piper Lawson has drawn me in from page one as upper crust Olivia seems to be slumming on the wrong side of town with her besties as another year of college is about to begin.  Hanging out at a strip club, trying to forget that her cheating boyfriend has blown his last chance at keeping her with his latest stunt?  Sounds good, right???  YES, it was!!!!

It only gets better as the most beautiful man Olivia has never seen before notices her and all bets are off as the stare down begins and ignites.  Still with me?  Why is the gorgeous man here in this place and how can she find a way to see him again...well, be careful what you wish for, it seems, as she finds him in the most unlikely of places...in her engineering class as her new professor!!! This is not good!!

A peek into this story with more excitement guaranteed when Crave, Olivia and Sawyer's complete story, heads your way in October!  I'm dying for more of them already!

Best 99cents spent to ever! Anything that has Ivy Smoak in it is officially my favourite and then you add in authors who I’ve read like becca Steele, Tracy Lorraine and love it automatically becomes a double win then you give me authors who I can’t wait to read all of their books and have added so many to my tbr list! I am so excited for this book!

Review for The Hate I Feel by Siobhan Davis
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Siobhan, YOU TEASE! I’m so happy to be back in the Elite world with this spin off of the Rydeville crew, with a story that gives deeper into some periphery/connected characters from the original series that I’ve always been curious about.

LIke so many Rydeville stories, this is one riddled with hate, revenge, deception, darkness, and tantalizing steam. Fortunately, this is one of the longer stories in the Hot Summer School Nights anthology, so we get a bigger bite of this new spin-off world, and I’m desperate for more. Our hero/anti-hero is Zayn, one of the missing Anderson brothers. His revenge plot has him setting his eyes on sweet and innocent Emery.

The characters are already so complicated and nuanced- Zayn in particular has the makings of a tortured anti-hero, one at odds with himself as his anger challenges his sense of justice. I can’t wait to know Emery better, but her kindness and gentleness here was compelling. And the chemistry- LAWD Siobhan.

I’m begging for loads of spin-off stories- the Rydeville world is an all time fav!

Review for Shantel Tessier’s Relentless:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a titillating and steamy beginning to what I can already tell is going to be a classically dark, twisted, taboo, and psychologically complicated Shantel bully story. One that provocatively pushes boundaries, scandalizes and intrigues.

This is one of the shorter entries into the Hot Summer School Nights Anthology- but it certainly packs a HUGE punch. Shantel had my jaw dropping from the very first page, so I knew we were in for a fast paced, scorching hot, and deliciously disturbing story. I am DESPERATE for more- and though there is no set release date or any information about the full length story, I’m glad we know one is coming.

I can already tell from these brief 5 chapters that our heroine, Oakely, is going to be the most interesting aspect of this book- she surprised me straight from the first sentence, and though she found herself powerless at the hands of her former tormentor, she was the character who kept me on my toes. Chase seems delicious and dark- obsessive, twisted, and super alpha. While her bullies often feel familiar within the trope (and Chase feels that way so far), Shantel has been known to take risks with bullied heroines- they are sometimes risque, have their own unredeemable (or even unlikeable) habits or traits, they are equal parts damaged and bold- a heady and dangerous mix that always makes for dynamic and unpredictable characters. Oakaley is definitely showing signs of being this type of heroine- and I can’t wait to spend more time inside her head. The finale made me realize just how fascinating she is going to be. Need this book now, Shantel!

The Words by Ashley Jade
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ashley Jade is such a unique story teller- and though this is the shortest story in the batch, it wildly interesting. The characters grab you- and though you’re not quite sure just what this story is going to be, you know it will be different, edgy, and emotionally complex. Already we can see this will be tale of discovery- equal parts existential as it is romantic, and I’m intrigued.

Reviewing Reckless Games by l.a cotton
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Oh sweet Bryan- I’m so very happy you got your sweet little steamy story. After watching him be such an amazing guy in Tragic Lies (Rixon High), I so wanted him to have his moment, to find his match- and this does not disappoint.. Loved this little story.

This is for Relentless by Shantel Tessier:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Chase Anderson has returned to his hometown where he relentlessly bullied his childhood crush, Oakley.

Oakley is not a little girl anymore though and she has been having a secret relationship with her stepfather.

But when Chase comes back and realizes this, he uses this as leverage to start a game with poor Oakley. Because she was caught on camera having sex with her stepdad. And Chase has no problem threatening to release it if she doesn’t do every little thing that he says.

“Let me make this clear, baby. “ leaning in, he lowers his voice. “I am the only cock you’ll be having from now on. “

This is a steamy and quick novella that opens up for a new book coming out by Shantel Tessier.
This novella is only the beginning of the hell I feel like Oakley is probably going to be dragged in. What I love about this novella is Ed quickly gives us a hint to Oakley‘s personality. She literally stabs someone in the leg with a fork. So she’s going to fight tooth and nail and it’s going to be a fun process to watch! I’ll definitely be waiting for the full book to come out and read it.

I read The Hate I Feel by Siobhan Davis as part of the Hot Summer School Nights anthology and let me tell you if you are missing being in the world that is Rydeville Elite well then you will definitely get your fix!!! Siobhan Davis is so freaking amazing with the stories she creates and this one is no exception! Absolutely did not disappoint! Zany and Emery are explosive!!! Even though this is a novella it is seriously packed to the brim with heat, angst and everything you fully expect to come from Siobhan! This will give you all the feels and I am dying to get more! I can’t wait to see where we go from here!!!

Relentless By Shantel Tessier part of the Hot Summer School Nights Anthology and Holy freaking hell was this HOT AF!!! Oakley and Chase are damn scrumptious. This baby was rough raw quick and gritty as hell and I am here for all of it! And then that ending are you kidding me woman!!! I am seriously left begging for more! I needs it now!!! Mind blown!!! I am seriously hoping we get more at some point because I can already tell there is sooo much more to their story and I need it all.

I received an ARC for an honest review. These thoughts and words are my own

Kyle is a drug dealer and from the Southside, while Clair is a rich girl labelled a freak at her prestigious high school, just because she likes birds. she's been taunted and bullied. So when a chance encounter happens between these two, they both gravitated towards each other.

The book delivered the storytelling in such a fast-paced manner, you will not get bored by it. Even though it's love at first that facet did not come out as icky or anything, to be honest, Kyle and Claire relationship dynamic is sort of mirroring a doomed love, two obstructing standpoints, how does their romance will from here?

Anyways, I'm excited to read the next book, primarily after the book cliffhanger. I wanna see how their romance will infer.

REVIEW FOR IN A WEEK BY BECCA STEELE:

*ARC provided for an honest review*

Second chance romances are my absolute favorite so I really enjoyed reading In a Week, which is a short story that’s part of the Hot Summer School Nights anthology!

I’ve been missing the characters from Alstone High and I’m happy that Becca Steele wrote this short story. It was sweet and also had moments that made me feel for the characters. Although it was short, I liked getting to know a bit more about Imogen and Xavier. Both characters whose feelings are so strong that they always find a way back to each other.

One of the things I like about second chance romances is the reason why both characters decided to break it off in the beginning or how they reunite and form a stronger love, and the author did really well in capturing those moments. Above all, Imogen and Xavier have their stubborn moments but the chemistry they have is everything. It was also nice to have the side characters as well and it brought so much nostalgia.

THE HATE I FEEL - SIOBHAN DAVIS
4 STARS!!

The Hate I Feel is part of the Hot Summer School Nights anthology that releases on June 29th!! When I realized who this story was about I was so anxious to read it! I've always been curious about Kaiden's two baby brothers!! I love Emery as a character! Her sweet yet fiery demeanor is perfection for Zayn! I am so glad that Siobhan wrote this and I can't wait for more from these characters!

Rydeville is one of my FAVORITE book worlds! Siobhan Davis is a hell of a writer, she has this way of writing that just grabs you! I don't think I've read a single book that I felt like she was holding back; no hesitation or off limits topics that she's not willing to dive into! I always look forward to anything that has her name on it!

You are not required to read any of the series in order to read this one but I am telling you that if you've never read her Rydeville series; I highly, HIGHLY recommend it! By far one of the most twisted and best worlds I've experienced as a reader!

RELENTLESS - SHANTEL TESSIER

I have never wanted to nut punch and climb a fictional character all at the same time before! But today...while reading Shantel Tessier's story Relentless that happened! WOW! I'm still smiling...
I haven't been this excited since Cole Reynolds!

I have no idea if there is more to come! When it is coming? If it is coming?
I just know I need more Chase Anderson! Also....I need more Oakley Lane! Such a bad*ss!!!
She is my kind of heroine!!!!!!!!!

The Hate I Feel by Siobhan Davis: This is a short spin-off of the Ryderville Elite series and focuses on the Anderson brothers. There's drama, twists and turns, heartache, bulling, deceit, revenge, angst, undeniable chemistry, betrayal, and plenty of heat to keep you turning the pages.

Hot Summer School Night: There's a reason why Michelle Mankin will always be one of my favorite authors. She writes awesome stories with characters that stay with you even after you are done with the book. Hot Summer School Night is a well written opposites attract read with bulling, suspense, angst, danger, sexually explicit scenes, drug use, undeniable chemistry, and lots of feels.

I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.

Love it!!! Love it!!! Love it!!! This is the story I’ve been waiting for. I couldn’t wait to see Scarlett grown. I knew James would be a over protective dad. Just wait till you see the surprise James has for Scarlett. I was laughing so hard through the book because I suspected that would happen as soon as he said he had a surprise for them. And when Axel went all Alpha on her because she was flirting with Jacob was everything!! Their full story is going to be epic. Loved the teaser for Scarlett and Axel and I’m very excited to read more.

I’ve only read Reckless Games by L. A. Cotton:

Darn no matter how small Lianne’s stories are, she always brings it! If you’ve read Tragic Lies you know exactly who Brian and Carrie-Anne are and know a little about their teasing-hate relationship.

Well in Reckless Games you’ll see how bad and emotional that gets because LAC never fails on giving us all the emotions. I teared up in a few scenes. Some things just always get to me!

But then on one night, at one party everything changes! And these two go from hateful fire to chemistry fire and it’s amazing!

I loved how Peyton kept in touch with these two and was still trying to bring them together even from a far.

I really enjoyed this. It’s short and sweet but I really really hope Lianne will expand this shortie into a novella, at least, because I need more of these two!

Great Anthology

This will fill up your TBR. Very high school bully, as the title gives away, so if that's what you like you'll get your fill. Unfortunately, a lot of these books don't all have release dates yet or are a bit in the future so there is some wait involved. That's my biggest complaint.

There were a few stories I really loved. There were only two that really didn't grab me. They weren't bad, just a bit bland. The one was Becca Steele's, and I think that was mostly because I hate on and off relationships because they definitely had a ton of chemistry. The other was the story with the girl who liked birds who sang in the talent show and the boy from the wrong side of the tracks who as a drug dealer.

Ones I liked: Daniela Romero's. She handles sensitive topics very well and this story was another shining example. Ivy Smoak's. I thought it seemed immature at first, but it ended p hooking me and I'm totally team Jacob, but I feel like yet again like I'll be let down, haha. I also loved the closing story, Chase caught my attention in the best of ways. A few at the beginning were also good, unfortunately they're not as fresh in my mind because I read them a couple of months ago.

And anyone reading his who doesn't already have a copy, copies are hard to find. There may be some left on bookishbuys.com though? I got mine on Amazon ages ago but took my time finishing it. I read half over summer, half this week. I know they're not selling it anymore. One of my Facebook groups was talking about this.

I read Reckless Games by LA Cotton.
I've always loved Cottons stories and devoured anything she's written. Bryan was my favorite side character in Rixon High series. He's so loveable yet so broken too. He hides behind humor and parties to hide his insecurities and his hurt. He's the perfect example of living a double life.
Carrie Ann is a nerd. She gets good grades, she follows the rules, she has no friends, she's all about school. But inside she is hurting too. Her life is not at all what it seems.
This had minimal angst, a hint of spice, and a quick enemies to lovers feel. I wish it was more to the story because it felt like it had to rush since it only had five chapters. I hope Cotton will expand on this and make it even better. I know there's so much that can be explored with both of these characters and the hurts they feel and how they can be the balm for each other.
Also if you haven't yet read Rixon High series, do it because you get to see all these characters and how their stories play out.

I also read Tease Me by Piper Lawson. It was a quick intro into a new series that will release this fall. It was steamy and fun. A bit of enemies and hate steam. Olivia is a good girl. She follows the rules. She has the bf her mom wants her to marry. She does everything she is supposed to. Until she doesn't.
Sawyer is only here to pay off a debt but he'd rather be anywhere else. Olivia catches his eye and he realizes that maybe just maybe it won't be so bad after all... until the next morning when it all goes to crap. Follow them as they try to deny the pull between them and do the right thing by staying away. Sometimes love doesn't make sense... and sometimes it breaks all the rules.
Piper Lawson is an amazing writer and I cannot wait for more of this series. I was hooked from the start.

I also read In a Week by Becca Steele. I LOVE second chance romances. Those romances that don't work out the first time but the love is still there and the second time its stronger than ever and happily ever after ensues. F Love them.
I've not read the other stories in Alstone High yet so I did not previously know these characters. However, it was such a sweet short story. I love short stories and I hate them. I love the ease and quick read of it all but I'm always left wanting more after its done. Feeling like there could have been more time spent on this or that.
Xavier was such a cool character. I really can't wait to read the other stories now. Imogen was such a fun h and their chemistry was amazing.
Becca Steele brings it every time and I loved it.

*In A Week by Becca Steele *

Becca Steele is taking us back to Alstone High in this short story and it's one of my favorite places to be!

The push and pull began these two characters was equally sweet and incredibly frustrating. The feelings and emotions Becca had pouring off the pages had me feeling like I was right back in high school!

I loved seeing my other favorite Alstone characters while Xavier and Imogen tried to figure out what they really wanted.

I definitely recommend!

This is a review for Scarlett’s novella by Ivy Smoak, which is 🔥 This was the first novella I’ve read and I never knew I could love it so much!!

Scarlett heads into her senior year of high school with a NEW plan to get the boy of her dreams, also her best friend, to notice her. Will it work? Will she finally get out of the friend zone? Or will she be shut down by her overbearing father, Professor Hunter?

I binged this read SO quick, and it definitely leaves you wanting more!! Can’t wait for the rest of her story!!

Reckless Games by L.A Cotton

It is true what they say good things come in small packages and that is true of this novella from Lianne. I had a soft spot for Bryan in the previous books so was happy that he was getting a story of his own. This may be short but it is a full on emotional feast for angst lovers. I really liked when Carrie-Anne and Bryan were doing their verbal sparring it was teasing verbal foreplay. This was short sweet and sexy just what I like in a novella

Gah I just finished my ARC of Scarlett by Ivy Smoak, and I am so sad this is just a novella! I want more asap, but I also want all of Ivy's other new books!!

I absolutely loved this! For some reason I didn't realize who Axel was. I thought he was some random guy, but DUH! Of course he is Axel Stevens!! They have been meant for each other the moment they were born! I loved the Penny and James cameo and of course knew right away what James surprise would be! I loved the interactions of Scarlett with her mom, dad, brother and of course Sophie! I so so excited that the kids get their own books! You can totally tell Sophie is Rob's daughter!

There is nothing of Ivy's I won't read! She is an amazing author!

I'm so excited to read the rest of this book and check out the other amazing authors featured in this book!

Thank you Ivy & Ryan for my early copy of Scarlett!

I received an arc for Ivy Smoak’s book in this anthology for Scarlett Hunter’s short story. Scarlett is the daughter of James & Penny Hunter from both of Ivy’s The Hunted Series & Light to my Darkness series. This short story gives a glimpse into Scarlett’s life her senior year in high school and dealing with her life long crush on her friend Axel Stevens. This story is beyond hilarious!! I think her cousin and BFF Sophie is just so ridiculous and amazing! You will definitely be laughing out loud. I loved seeing the kids grown up. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this anthology for a good summers read!
