Exalting Jesus in Romans is part of the Christ-Centered Exposition Commentary series. Edited by David Platt, Daniel L. Akin, and Tony Merida, this commentary series, to include 47 volumes when complete, takes a Christ-centered approach to expositing each book of the Bible. Rather than a verse-by-verse approach, the authors have crafted chapters that explain and apply key passages in their assigned Bible books.
Readers will learn to see Christ in all aspects of Scripture, and they will be encouraged by the devotional nature of each exposition presented as sermons and divided into chapters that conclude with a “Reflect & Discuss” section, making this series ideal for small group study, personal devotion, and even sermon preparation. It’s not academic but rather presents an easy reading, practical, and friendly commentary.
The CCE series will include 47 volumes when complete. The author of Exalting Jesus in Romans is Tony Merida.
Tony Merida is the founding pastor of Imago Dei Church in Raleigh, NC. Tony is the author of Faithful Preaching, co-author of Orphanology, and serves as a general editor and as contributor to the Christ-Centered Exposition Commentary series (B&H Publishing Group) along with David Platt and Danny Akin. He is married to Kimberly, with whom he has five adopted children.
Still reading Romans lol — just not a huge fan of reading a commentary alongside scripture unless it’s for a specific question or something?? Overall i think these are a great resource, it’s just not how I prefer to study the Word!
an incredible commentary of Romans — helped me understand and apply it more clearly than ever before! Recommend slowly going through this book and studying this amazing letter!
Great supplemental book for a personal quiet time. Would highly recommend if you are looking for practical to the fact information and nothing to in-depth. Each chapter covers an overarching theme, not a verse-by-verse breakdown like a traditional commentary.
Our church began an in-depth study of Romans last August and we finished up in May of this year. I used this as an accompaniment to my study and our sermon and Life Group/Sunday School series of studies. Excellent commentary and book.
Christ centred approach Focused on how Paul used many examples to show the relationships between the law and the mission of Jesus Christ. Through the grace and love of God, the law will only be fulfilled.
