She's a small town girl. He's got dreams bigger than their past.
Amelia loves her life in Cypress Cove. It’s all she’s known, and despite the typical quirks of small-town life, she wouldn’t trade it for anywhere else. She’s had a love and lost him. Now she spends her days helping on her parents’ small farm, at her Nana’s inn, and running her own hospitality business to local tourists. She doesn’t have time for romance, especially not with a man like Dalton.
Dalton Price couldn’t wait to move to a big city when he graduated high school. He had a crush on Amelia, but his future was elsewhere. When his company decides to open a real estate branch in Cypress Cove, Dalton comes back to oversee the project. What he didn’t count on was how seeing Amelia would affect him. His feelings have only gotten stronger over the years away. But Dalton’s heart has been broken and he’s hesitant to love again.
When Dalton decides he’s willing to risk it all for Amelia, can he convince her he won’t leave this time?

I really enjoyed the small-town characters in this book! I loved Amelia and Dalton and how their romance evolved slowly. I still can't relate to good-looking heroes and heroines, but at least neither of them was arrogant or vain about their good looks.
I also loved the flirty banter and the swoon-worthy kisses! I also loved that it was really almost a second-chance romance because they had history from high school. And of course, the moments of humor that the author always throws in there were perfect.
The only thing I didn't like was that Amelia never told Dalton about her grudge with him because of her sister. It was never resolved.
Favorite quotes: “There's something comforting about the same scenery year after year. Predictability is underrated.” (ch. 1)
“And then I want to slap myself. Did I seriously just give an open-ended offer of help to Dalton? Since when did he have such an effect on me? I must be in need of a night out, or time with my sister, or a good long hike.” (ch. 3)
“'This I'd like to see: the disarming of Dalton Price. You sound done for.' That sums it up.” (ch 4)
“Dalton's attractive. I'm allowed to look. There's no law against appreciating a fine specimen of manhood. I remind myself it's like going to the zoo. We can visit exotic animals without taking them home as pets. No harm in that.” (ch. 5)
“'Men go after what they want to gain power and money, that's true enough. But all that power-mongering is ultimately only so they can impress us. The way I look at it, the love of women is the driving force of all history.'” (ch 7)
“'I love you too, Amelia,' he says. 'And I'm proud of you.' Ten words. Sometimes it's not the word count that matters.” (ch 10)
“Between her and Mom, I feel like a damsel in the eighteenth century being set up with a suitor regardless of her own opinion or desires.” (ch 10)
“I feel like doing a fist pump. She let me help her and she's not chasing me out.” (ch 11)
“'And when a man like Dalton was around, we didn't waste our time. We chased him until he caught us.'” (ch 12)
“Flirting with Dalton might officially be my new favorite hobby. I'm playing with fire, but right now I don't really care. I feel more alive than I have in years.” (ch 12)
“Whenever he looks at me like that, an uncharacteristic shyness overcomes me. I feel seen, known and wanted and it disarms me to my core.” (ch 14)
“If love isn't the most irrational force in the universe, I don't know what is” (ch 18)
“Every man deserves to fall insanely in love with a woman worth pursuing – and then to become the man worthy of her affection.” (ch 20)
“Has my overinflated need to maintain the status quo made me a vigilante?” (ch 26)
(I received a copy for free from the publisher. I was not compensated for this review. All opinions are my own, as was the decision to write this review.)
2.5 This was fine. No particular complaints except that if all seemed superficial. I didn’t connect with these MCs, and they were very quick to give up on each other. Squeaky clean with a small amount of Bible talk.
I enjoyed this book so much. It told the story of a second chance romance that was beautiful.
Amelia and Dalton had grown up together in the small town of Cypress Grove. Dalton had a crush on Amelia all through school and when Amelia chose Brian, Dalton couldn't wait to get out of town. Her had moved to San Francisco and become a very successful businessman. Now, ten years later, he was back in Cypress Grove to set up a realty office.
Both Amelia and Dalton had been left with brokenhearts but they had chemistry. Was it possible to get a second chance? Would they find that what they had wanted, or needed, had been there all along?
This story showed the vulnerability of both Amelia and Dalton and was a beautifully told story of true love. It was a clean and wholesome story with some flirting, swoony kisses and promise of forever.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
I just finished reading Someone to Hold: A Small Town, Opposites Attract and so happy that I read it. It’s a wonderful, clean, fun book to read. You know what the ending will be but what’s in the middle was so good. The author wrote all her characters so well and to be truthful, I wish I lived in Cypress Cove. A small town with gossip and everyone knows everything staring a beautiful woman, Amelia, who has never left the town, and Dalton, who left right after high school but has come back purely for business, or so he thinks. While setting up an office in Cypress Cove, Dalton may be living in San Franciso but maybe that’s not where his heart is. This is a great start to a new series, and I look forward to reading every one of them.
"Someone to Hold" introduces us to a new cast of characters in this new series from Patty H Scott. I enjoyed the engaging storyline set in the picturesque fictional town of Cypress Cove, and happily followed Amelia and Dalton's budding relationship.
Amelia and Dalton both carried past-relationship baggage which ultimately affected the way they interacted, reminding me that no one's perfect.
A sweet read with the potential for more books based on the array of new and exciting characters.
Amelia always went out of her way to help those in need. She loves her hometown and has no desire to leave. Dalton left their hometown after graduation and started a realty company with his friend Jeff. Feeling the need to get away, Dalton decides to open a branch in Cypress Cove. Sweet story of a second chance at romance. Ms Scott brings the story to life with descriptions of the beauty of Cypress Cove. Enjoyed this book but I usually do by this author.
I was given this advanced copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.
Someone to Hold is a sweet, fun, second chance romance. I am going to love the Calloway Inn series. I fell in love with the inn and the locale as well as the characters. Amelia and Dalton both have some issues to overcome but they are just so darn likeable! Their differing viewpoints on the inn and the town made for a very engaging story that keep me reading too late that night. If you like clean romance and second chances, you will like this book!
Wonderful book. Dalton had a crush on Amelia in high school but she had eyes for another so he left town soon after graduating. Amelia dated Brian for seven years before he decided to leave her broken-hearted. After a broken engagement, Dalton decides to open an office in his hometown. He and Amelia connect but she fears abandonment all over again. Can they both overcome their issues to find happiness?
This was such a good story! I just love the whole opposites attract trope, it’s so like my husband and I. I loved all the old women interfering and the way people extended their friendship in genuine ways, the book had me giggling and wishing I lived in a small town. I’m so excited to see more stories unfold from Cypress Cove!
I loved the story of Amelia and Dalton! As they learn to trust each other with their biggest fears and hurts, they share the sweetest romance in the cutest small town. (seriously, I want to move there!).
I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This review is my own, honest opinion.
Clean very sweet small town romance. This story is about Amelia a woman who loves her town and is always helpful and have no desire to leave and Dalton who come back after leaving for a decade, the story is about love for family, community, home and the opportunity of second chance love I received on ARC in exchange for my honest review. I recommend this book to anyone
This is such a good book! A great start to this new series. I truly enjoyed reading it. It's a sweet, charming & moving story. Everything you want in a true romance. Dalton ❤ Amelia, steal your heart. I loved it from the very first pages to the last!! Can't wait for Book 2!!
Such a fun story. The small town feel makes me so happy, and of course, NOTHING sets a story up for a little healthy drama like a guy moving back to his small town.
Enjoyed this sweet love story so much and now I want to be an innkeeper when I grow up.
A sweet small town romance. I enjoyed getting to know this town and quite a few characters (that I expect to continue to see in the upcoming books). A flowing story with plenty of descriptors and activities.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Patty does it again with her clean small beach town romance! I loved the small town setting and close friends in this story and can't wait to see what the rest of the series brings!
I received an ARC from the author and all opinions are my own.
Another great book from Patty. Dalton and Amelia are very real, he's big-city and impulsive and she's afraid he will never be satisfied with her small-town, simple life. But love conquers differences.
Truly enjoyed this story. The characters were very real and their storyline held my interest. I always enjoy when people return home to find what they had been missing while they were away. This was a good journey. Look forward to moe.
