Burl Tidrow owns a freight company in Durango, Colorado. He makes his money delivering goods to the mountain town of Silverton, Colorado. He has never had any competition up until now. The Durango and Silverton Railroad is on the verge of completing tracks between the two mountain towns. This will mean the death knell for Tidrow’s freight line.
Tidrow organizes one last run of freight to Silverton before he has to close his business for good. Rumor has it that Tidrow plans to hide a bunch of gold in one or all of the three wagons. There is also a rumor that Tidrow plans to move to Silverton.
Tidrow recruits the best drivers he can find and professional gunfighters to ride guard. One of these guards is Silverjack McCall. Two of his friends, Jesus Camposantos and Black Henry Carruthers, are also hired.
Unbeknownst to Tidrow, there is a spy in the bunch. The spy is in contact with Sly Cavanaugh, who has a gang of cutthroats waiting for the time when the spy gives the word to attack the freight wagons. When this happens, all hell breaks loose and too much blood is spilled. Once the action starts, it keeps going at a breakneck pace until the end of the story.
Once again, Silverjack McCall finds himself in the middle of a fight he has no business being in.
