I have a complicated history with Harper Bliss’s books. My first one was Seasons of Love. I thought the writing – first person, present tense – was interesting but the story made me very uncomfortable, I don’t remember why. I read a few more books, enjoyed some more than others, then translated The Road to You: A Lesbian Romance Novel for a French publisher and that was it for me, until now. I didn’t care for the characters. It’s not just that I didn’t care what happened to them, I actively disliked them. I found them both terribly unpleasant, which wouldn’t have mattered much if I had simply been reading the book but since I was working on it, I spent several months with them. After that, I decided Bliss wasn’t an author for me. But after years of seeing my friends praise to the skies each new Bliss book, when my friend Rach, at Les Rêveur, asked if I wanted to review this one, I felt the time had come to try again (you can read our joint review here).

So, what is this book about? Her son is away for the summer and Maya is trying not to feel sad and lonely. When her neighbours’ daughter shows up, Maya is happy for the company. Quinn is young and fun and bold, and Maya really doesn’t mind the attention. A weekend of seemingly innocent flirting leads to an incredibly hot and unexpectedly memorable night. At the time, that’s all Maya is ready for. When they meet again ten years later, the attraction is still as strong and Quinn still as irresistible. But is Maya finally ready?

If there’s one thing Bliss writes exceedingly well, it’s sex. Lust. Chemistry. Maybe the other way round and, okay, that’s three things but you get the gist.

Unlike the characters from those books I read years ago, I really liked Maya and Quinn. I liked them so much that I’m willing to forget Quinn’s ridiculous tattoos that made me think of slogan t-shirts or pseudo-philosophical social media memes (Rach disagrees with me on this). Quinn is self-assured, cocky (which Maya loves), and unapologetic about her attraction to older women, despite her family’s misgivings. She’s a lot more aware of her vulnerability at thirty-four than she was at twenty-four. She’s been hurt more and when she meets Maya again, she’s just out of a very unbalanced relationship and feels heartbroken. While she may appear to get over her broken heart very quickly, I think she mistook a bruised ego for a broken heart or – and I find this theory more romantic – Maya is the one and every other woman, including the ones she thought she loved, was a way for Quinn to pass time until Maya came back into her life. Maya is more complex, more scared too and one of the best things in the book was watching her get over her fears.

I don’t know how Bliss did it, I found the connection between Maya and Quinn completely believable, from the start, even though we don’t get to see them do much more together than dance and have sex. Somehow, the author manages to make it feel like more than lust even as she insists on all the physical details and reactions, to convey an emotional link through what is not said rather than what is described. That said, even though I enjoyed reading this book a lot, once I tried to write about it, I struggled to remember more than “the sex was good” and “I liked the characters”. It does the job but it didn’t touch me deeply. I will, however, start reading Harper Bliss’s books again.

Wow. This is exactly the kind of romance I want to read.
To me, this was perfection, and this is definitely in my Top 3 All Time.
It's rare that I put a book down several times just to savor it rather than flying through it in one sitting, but that's what happened with At Your Most Beautiful.
If you're into age gap romances, you'll love this one.
To me this book had everything: steamy scenes, realistic angst, sexy leads.

It's hot, it's sexy and it's forbidden.

There is a reason why Harper Bliss has a strong fan base. She writes age gaps and sex like no other. And she challenges and teases her readers with themes that make us uncomfortable at times. These are also the precise reasons why her books are not for everybody.

This one fits right in my guilty pleasure indulgence of the forbidden and it is about crossing the line with the neighbour’s daughter. It wasn’t about love, at least not at the start. It wasn’t even about being attracted to that one person. For the older Maya, it was about being lonely and being seduced by the one person out there in her backyard. For the younger Quinn, it was a sexual preference - Maya was her type. They had their fling and a fling was all it was because anything further was inconceivable for Maya, at least. Because there are so many reasons why it wouldn't work out apart from their twenty year age gap.

There is a time lapse of 10 years when they reconnect. Maya and Quinn are the same people but also different. By this time, Maya has come to terms with her sexuality even though she is still in the closet and Quinn has matured. Again, the sparks are there, but this time there is so much more than just lust between them.

I didn’t understand Quinn at the beginning and I didn't like her much either. She was too predatory for my liking. But Quinn is an interesting character with many layers and she grew on me. She gives her heart too often, too quickly and to the wrong people and she has her heart broken too many times too. But she never gives up on love and she never fails to fight for it. And I really liked her at the end.

Once again, Bliss has won me over with her writing and I feel blissful.

Some nights are unforgettable…

With At Your Most Beautiful, Harper Bliss revisits an age-gap romance similar to Season of Love (2016). Both books have an until then straight older woman fall for the much younger daughter of their best friend. The rest of the book deals with the coming out angst of ‘how do I come out to my grown-up son?’, and ‘what will my former neighbors say?’.

In At Your Most Beautiful, we have one single hook-up between Maya Mercer and Quinn Hathaway - then 45 and 24 – that takes place 10 years in the past and remains a secret ever after. It’s a defining moment for both in different ways. When they, by chance, meet again a decade down the road, the old embers of their special night together are still smoldering. If they pursue this, how big will the fall-out be?

Narration is in the capable hands of fabulous Angela Dawe. Her voice for Maya (who sounds a lot like Gillian Anderson) will make your panties melt. I highly recommend the audio book version for a grand old gay time!

Available on Scribd.

f/f when it comes to sexy times, Bliss always delivers

Themes: New York City, dance teacher, photographer, I’m straight but gay for you, seduced by the neighbor’s daughter who has a thing for older women, tattoos, coming out angst, how do I tell my parents, how do I tell my son, I loved Angus the drama queen, life is for living, a showdown at the art exibit.

Another sexy age-difference romance à la Harper Bliss. Ten years ago, Maya Mercer, 45, and the much younger Quinn Hathaway had an unexpected but all the hotter night together. And when the two meet again ten years later, the attraction is still almost overwhelming. But how should Maya, now a grandmother, tell her family she's fallen in love? And then with the former neighbor's daughter, of all people, who is so much younger? It feels like a taboo and yet so right and wonderful. Complications, discussions, and confrontations are pre-programmed but are realized by the author with good dialogues, understandable fears, and feelings. And already during the dance scenes, the temperature rises massively until it reaches its climax during the lovemaking. Phew, hot, hot, hot!
And Angela Dawe really gets the story going with her perfect narration. I'm always amazed at how perfect narration further stimulates the senses.

Bliss never misses her ability to get me out of my comfort zone.

I faced the challenge. So, I found myself stopping my read several times, and wondering how I would feel if I’d been part of this story in real life.

Then the uneasy sensation came again. I am still thinking about it…..

Harper Bliss knows how to write age-gap romance like no one else, I enjoy most of them, but with this one, I am not 100% sure.

The story starts off pretty hot and steamy when Quinn is back home at her parents' house for a bit and Maya, the next-door neighbour, is home alone. That weekend/ night took place ten years ago, when they have this chance meeting in the present sparks fly again, but Quinn is less eager to chase. Maya is still is about 20 years Quinn's senior and she is just finding her footing in New York City. But every time they talk it turns into flirting and reminiscing about their night a decade ago, which happens in their minds mostly. It feels a bit repetitive, it's something I never said about a Bliss book before but it got a tad boring even. There is this push and pull, will it work with the age difference, what will the families think, the normal things. But I just didn't feel like there was any real type of connection other than the crazy chemistry you are told they have, which is also something that doesn't jump at me from the page.
Maya has a lovely neighbour who talks a lot of sense, even in his own dramatic way. Maya's son and daughter-in-law are a nice and straightforward addition to the story as well. Griff, Quinn's roommate adds this bit of unnecessary drama and is the biggest fangirl to ever exist even in her thirties, please get a grip...

Overall, the story is nice there are some real doubts and issues from Maya's side, very understandable as well. But the issues raised with Quinn are super alarming and never dealt with, that just doesn't sit right with me. I like both characters and how they complement each other, but I just don't see them in this steamy affair, more like friends that maybe one day could be more, but I guess they go about it the other way around. Harper's writing is always great but because it is a bit repetitive at times, especially in the dialogue, the flirting, and the thoughts of the mains it feels a bit lackluster. The most annoying thing for me? Quinn's tattoos and they keep being used and keep coming up, they aren't anything special in my mind. That isn't to say I didn't enjoy it, because I did and that might just be a bit weird as well.
In the end, it's just an ok story where the characters apart from each other are lovely, the premise of the story is ok and the writing style is good, this is what makes it 3.5 stars.

I struggled with Quinn for a while because of her immaturity and the fact that she had been a willing mistress to a married woman for four years. To me there's really no excuse for adultery, whether you're the one cheating or the other person involved.

That said, if I put that aside, at its heart, this was a sweet romance about Maya and Quinn overcoming their families' and society's judgments about their 20-year age gap, ultimately giving themselves a chance at love and happiness with one another. There were some ups and downs, but it all came together beautifully with a heartwarming and satisfying epilogue.

Review of At Your Most Beautiful by Harper Bliss, audiobook narrated by Angela Dawe

The artistic partnership between Harper Bliss and Angela Dawe has produced a good number of audiobooks, all of them of great quality. A new one is always a reason for celebration.

Quinn Hathaway and Maya Mercer shared a one-night stand that they agreed to keep secret. Ten years later, they meet again and discovered that the old passion is still intact. However, the same things that kept them apart in the past are still present: a two-decade age difference and Maya’s friendly relationship with Quinn’s parents. Even though Maya is still in the closet, this time around she doesn’t want to run away from Quinn. But will they be brave enough to face their families?

It’s no news that Ms. Bliss’s favourite writing trope is age-gap romance. And not the kind with a small-ish age gap either. Many of her romances focus on the social controversy caused by big age differences. At Your Most Beautiful deals with social disapproval of these types of relationships and family rejection. There’s something to be said about the undeniable tension between what’s socially expected of someone and the irresistible pull of a forbidden attraction. Ms. Bliss plays with this tension like the pro that she is, uses the enticement of the forbidden fruit as a build-up of the characters’ chemistry and a mechanism to grasp the readers’ attention.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Ms. Bliss is one of the best writers of sex scenes in women-loving-women fiction. In At Your Most Beautiful, Ms. Bliss uses sex and taboo to tell a story about love and family ties. Quinn has always dated much older women and even though her family put up with her preferences, they are worried about her. Maya is a young grandmother who is in a completely different moment of her life compared to Quinn. Maya is in the closet, Quinn is out and proud. Maya is comfortably well-off, while Quinn shares a tiny apartment with a friend. This is an opposites-attract story that the author makes work because of the strong chemistry between them. Kudos to Ms. Bliss to make it believable and for not falling into the easy trap of social condemnation as a source of conflict. Both families’ concern and rejection come from a place of love, not from a rigid moral stance. It makes the story richer and more interesting.

The audiobook version is narrated by Angela Dawe who, as always, was brilliant and justifies her status as a rock star among lesbian audiobooks fans. Her different voices are perfect at stressing the mains age difference, Quinn sounds youthful and irreverent while Maya sounds mature and sensible. Her performance of the different emotions throughout the story is absolutely brilliant. I wish that Ms. Dawe would narrate more lesfic.

If you are looking for a hot and emotional age-gap romance, this one is for you. 4.5 stars.

Woooooo-eeee! Solid age gap read! Get ready to be a part of how to navigate the taboo nature of a 20+ year age gap among family members. It got awkward and weird at times, but boy did I root for Maya and Quinn. 4.25/5. Very well written as well.

Age gap w/ less chemistry than usual

It was a nice read. But compared to Bliss’ other age gaps this doesn’t compare especially in the steamy Dept

4.5 Stars - will read again

I could not put this one down. The chemistry was just jumping off the page. Add to that the little bit of taboo and *chef's kiss*, it's my catnip. The leads are both really likable people. The angst felt real but it wasn't overboard. Did I mention the chemistry? I just loved every minute reading this book and will definitely be reading it again at some point. If this turns into an audible, would even consider buying it again if I like the narrator. :)

Harper Bliss is the undisputed Queen of the Age Gap Romance. Many things make this one different.

Written in alternating third-person POV by chapter, we get inside the head of each main character. Many times an age gap is told from either the older or younger person's perspective, so it was fun to live through both viewpoints. In addition, there's an element of rich girl vs poor girl, as the 55-year-old Maya simply won't go back to living in a tiny apartment with a tiny uncomfortable bed, no matter how much she is attracted to Quinn.

I really enjoyed the photographer vs the salsa dancer inspiration and found myself wishing I could see the finished photos! The big climax at the gallery show was handled perfectly, with coming out to both families worthy of the build up I had been waiting for. But the tattoo Easter egg was {chef's kiss} perfection.

Every time I read a Harper Bliss book, again I am astounded that English is not her native language as she smoothly navigates the American idioms like a pro. "Your old dad just wants you to be happy" could've (and did) come out of my own dad's mouth so many times.

I'm always a sucker for age-gap romances and when Harper Bliss writes one, I'm all in! In this book, we met Maya and Quinn on a hot summer's day when Quinn, then 24 was staying with her parents for the month. Maya, a recent empty-nester was easily charmed by the millennial and against her better judgement spent a wonderful night of passion with her.

Fast forward ten years and the two met again. Neither had spoken of their forbidden night but all those feelings and emotions came tumbling back. Maya and Quinn needed to first accept their feelings for one another and then get over how their families would react to their relationship. This book was cute and spicy and a perfect read for a warm spring day!

The queen of age-gap romance has done it again.
She creates such adorable and cute characters.
The story begins in one of their most vulnerable and fragile moments.
The one is a bit lost and wants to find herself again after a failed marriage and the loss of the lead role in her life as a mother and the other is in the midst of the tumult of a broken heart.

Harper Bliss brings them then together and „Boom“ the heat explodes and very steamy scenes unfold before your eyes.

I love how real and adorable her characters always are.
There is nothing new or unknown that they go through.
A broken heart or loneliness is something most of us can relate to.
That's why this story and the MC‘s are so real.

They both start their little proverbial but also actual dance on an extremely hot summer evening.
Maya's pool is what attracts the young and somewhat wild Quinn, the daughter of her longtime neighbor.
An unforgettable night will always bind them together, but the much older Maya cannot be persuaded to do more.

Ten years later, fate brings them back together and after a short while it becomes clear that none of them have ever forgotten that night and they continue their dance with the same great chemistry on the dance floor and of course in bed.

The difficulties are of course the age difference and the fear how their families might react to them as lovers.
The story is not in any way full of angst but of course it’s part of it too from the moment they both reveal themselves as couple to their families.
I liked the book very much.
It’s a warm story with hot moments and lovely characters.

If you like HEA and Age Gap Romance, than this is your book.

When I first started this book, I didn’t like either character. I thought Quinn was too calculating and it was just lust on Maya’s part, although she had some qualms. That first tryst seemed somewhat taboo, considering how they knew each other. However, I grew to like both women when they reunited 10 years later. Maya moved to New York City where she met Quinn again, at work. Things took off from there. This seemed like a pretty introspective novel, albeit with some steamy scenes. We spend a lot of time in the two women’s heads as each of them, especially Maya, wrestles with her attraction, feelings and doubts, as well as perceived societal and familial disapproval because of the age gap. I appreciated that they were brave enough to weather the disapproval of their family and others. The secondary characters, at least some of them, provided some comic relief from the push and pull of Maya and Quinn’s relationship. The epilog gave some closure to some of the other characters’ threads.

This is a very exciting, beautiful and sexy read.

Maya Mercer is having a quiet and lonely life in the suburbs when her next-door neighbour’s daughter says hi and asks to use her pool; she never imagined that night would break every paradigm she had. But guilt is strong and she knows it could only be one night. Ten years later, fate is on their side and they meet again. The heat is still there, and sparks fly. Will this time Maya fight her demons, or let Quinn go for a second time?

I just love how good Harper is writing age-gap romances, this isn’t the exception. Starts very explosive, all heat up and immediately got me hooked. I won’t deny that at some point I wanted to scream, but only because there’s a very interesting twist in the plot, and that’s a testament to how invested I already was in the story. I didn’t panic, because I knew Harper will turn that twist and have a nice surprise for us. So I kept reading eagerly, wanting to know what will happen, and I was delighted by the result, she did great with that change of pace and the move on the plot.

I liked both characters very much, I could understand their struggles. Funny enough I can relate to both, have been in both ends at some point; and that is another thing I love about Harper stories and characters, they’re real, relatable, and flawed. And let’s talk about their chemistry, in one word, sizzling. They just complement each other so well.

I simply loved the story, the characters, the pace, the plot, and the twists. There are also very interesting secondary characters, that I enjoyed their time in the story very much.

This is another great romance by Harper Bliss. It is an age-gap, and a second chance romance, with a beautiful HEA.

Maya would be equally exquisite in the city. She could easily eclipse the most breath-taking places in the world.

3.5 stars. This was just missing a teensy bit more of what I needed to make it a truly effective romance, but it also succeeded in so many other ways, making this such a charming read. Bliss can be pretty hit or miss for me, and this has happily landed squarely in the 'hit' pile. It's an age-gap romance between Maya, an older divorcee, and Quinn, the daughter of her next door neighbours.

I really liked where this began and where it took us. It's a 'one-night-stand turns into something more' sort of romance, but they don't see each other for ten entire years after their night together, so it's also a second chance. Quinn is confident and flirty during their first time, while Maya is vastly more reserved and hesitant, given how much older she is and the fact that she's never before been attracted to a woman. The seduction ended up feeling just right for me; just enough pushing on Quinn's part, and when Maya capitulates, it feels joyful and natural. Just like it feels natural that she's later determined to never see Quinn and never speak of that night again, even though they were both so moved by it. What I like best about this is that when they meet again years later, they're both living their lives and moving on, even though they think of each other often. Quinn has had several relationships, has genuinely fallen in (and out) of love in the intervening time. Maya has a fulfilling family life with her son and grandson, and is actively trying to date other women. So the fact that they still come back together and feel this irresistible pull to each other is way more compelling to me than if they'd pined for each other for ten years. They come back into each other's lives and it's clear that absolutely no one else will do. So I loved that about it, and the slow, halting journey they took towards being together. Sometimes I read an age-gap and I can't fathom how these two people will last, but Maya and Quinn had genuine chemistry that I really liked.

I really do wish that the time span in the present-day period had been longer, though. It would have definitely felt more impactful then. I wanted to see more of them building a foundation, since this is the first time they're actually getting to know each other in a romantic sense, and not just as neighbours with a huge age gap. Really liked the way the third act played out, even though it felt like the tension got resolved a bit too quickly. I didn't love everything about the writing, and there were a few word choices that had me squinting. (I want someone to sit me down and explain exactly what they mean when they say 'post woke'.)

Listened to the audiobook as read by Angela Dawe. I've been listening to a fair amount of her books lately, and I don't feel burnt out at all. She just performs so well, without being too dramatic or overdone. Her Maya voice is one of my favourites in her repertoire. And this is one of those cases where the narration really elevated the text; I might not have given this such a high rating, if I'd read it physically. I do appreciate Bliss's books, because even though she revisits certain themes and topics a lot, like age-gaps, her books always have enough originality, and enough of a down-to-earth charm amidst the taboo, and that often makes me really like them.

When I first started listening to this book, I thought, "Hmmm.... This is going to be a naughty one, it seems like." And while it was indeed sexy, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it became a very nicely fleshed out age gap romance.
I'm one of those that finds it fascinating that some people are almost exclusively attracted to people significantly older than them. I'm talking about people old enough to be their parents. While in this book it alludes to that resulting from "mommy issues" I have to wonder how much of that is true. I also find it interesting that while it doesn't altogether gross me out in woman/woman relationships, it often does with much older men with younger women. I'll need to ponder that some more.
I appreciated in this book that the "older" woman, Maya, a former professional dancer who now owns her own studio and in the beginning of the book is in her mid-40s - really struggles with it too. She's taken aback by the passion she finds with her next door neighbor's daughter, Quinn, who is half her age and relentlessly pursues her one weekend when her parents are away. Because this was very much Quinn's idea, there's none of that creepy vibe going. A woman in her mid 40s really is in her prime, so I can see how some might be very attractive to someone in her mid-20s.
While Maya gets so caught up in the moment that she allows something to happen between them - and what a night it is! - she knows nothing can ever come of it because of who they are and where they are in their lives. She had previously been married to a man for many years and has never even looked at another woman before. And she makes that clear to Quinn that one night of passion is all it will ever be.
Fast forward ten years and who happens to run into the other when both are now living in New York City? And what happens when the spark is still there? It would still be a forbidden relationship, after all. Maya was friends with Quinn's parents for so many years and she has a son and a new grandbaby to consider. Surely there would be someone better suited for Maya in a city of millions. I mean, what would her son think if she suddenly decided not only to start dating women, but their much younger former next door neighbor that's only a handful of years older than him?
I found this to be a good and very hot listen. In the very capable hands of the legendary Angela Dawe, not only is it way up there on the steam scale, but she also brilliantly captures Maya's internal angst. There are also some interesting secondary characters including Maya's new flamboyantly gay next door neighbor, who has many opinions about what she should do and what she should and shouldn't worry about. I also found it refreshing how Maya handled things once she got a handle on what her feelings really were.
This has me thinking more - not less - about age gap relationships. Can they really work? What happens way down the road? Interesting food for thought.
I liked that this has an epilogue as I think it's beneficial for a story like this. Fans of Bliss and Dawe will like this one. It's hard to go wrong with that combo.

This was… fine. Mostly good. I didn’t love it the way some other reviewers seemed to. I think my disconnect was with the character, Quinn, and not… totally buying into the romance, because of that.

I have a complicated, almost love/hate thing with the age gap trope in romances. I straight up hate them 9 times outta 10 in hetero romances, especially if the man is the older one in the dynamic and especially once they get over 20 years difference. (When Quinn is asking if Maya thinks older men who date women are pervs, trying to get her to be into the idea, I snorted and said “yeah” out loud.) I’m much more susceptible to them in sapphic stories, but when they do get to be such large gaps of like 20+ years, sometimes I’m not as into it. I spent a lot of this book being like, “no Maya, your instincts that this is weird are right lol” and I think I figured out where this one slightly rubbed me the wrong way. Quinn being so into older women, like only going for romantic prospects that are like 20+ years older than her, it being like, her Whole Thing, alllllllllmost felt fetishistic? juuuust slightly, to me. Maybe not quite that, but it was enough to rub me the wrong way, just the slightest bit, and I never quite got over that, especially in the initial impression of her when she was 24 and seducing Maya in the beginning. I didn’t like her, much. Her cockiness wasn’t charming, to me, and while she mellowed out at 34 when we spend most of the story with her, i never connected with her as much. I also thought she got over both her breakups with Rachel and (especially) Morgan really fast.

Maya, however, was lovely and I really liked her. The voice that narrator, Angela Dawe have her was absolutely intoxicating to listen to, though it surprised me almost that Maya’s voices and Quinn’s weren’t switched, initially. I kept thinking in the first few chapters that they were, and it took me a sec to realize that.

This was a perfectly serviceable and mostly fun time, and I think others will likely enjoy it more than I did.

I would of called this book a Night to Remember, and it was some night that stayed with the MC’s for 10 years. Then the stars align and they meet again. This Age Gap has the sexy times but also the mild angst of fear of non acceptance but if you’re meant to be together, you’re meant to be together, tattoo that. Harper Bliss kept me entertained through out and I really enjoyed this story very much.

Harper Bliss writes wonderful great age-gap romances and she has written a beautiful love story between Maya and Quinn in ‘At Your Most Beautiful’. The characters of Quinn and Maya develop well throughout the novel. I enjoyed see the dichotomy of the two main characters. Early in the book, Quinn was written as a carefree, full of bravado 24 year old and Maya was the 45 old, a little more settled having had a family, her own business and having had gone through a divorce. The connection between Quinn and Maya was smoking hot. The chemistry is off the charts. The transition of their story 10 years later is done well. Their story continues with the Maya and Quinn, the changes in their characters after 10 years is done well. It is almost like reading a new story, 2 books in 1 with the same characters, Quinn now 34 and Maya 55. I liked the addition of the ‘10 years later’. One of the running messages throughout the story is life is meant to be lived - at any age, an ideal that we could be reminded follow sometimes. I enjoyed how Harper Bliss allowed the characters to have their own levels of maturity that matched their experiences in life. Both Maya and Quinn had characteristics which complimented each other. The two were learning from the other. This is another great book to add to your Harper Bliss collection. A little warning, this book will make you want to take salsa lessons or at the very least hit the dance floor! Get your reading on, you won’t be disappointed.

I thought this book was terrific I loved the way one night of intense, for bidden passion was something that either women could forget. Maye is an older straight woman who is content with her life as a dance instructor and mother of her son. Quinn is an out and proud lesbian who only dates older women. After some flirty bantering, and a dance these two engage in a very powerful night of sex which both women know could never be repeated nor spoken about. However that night does not leave either women.
After 10 years they meet again unexpectedly and are taken back by the fact that they actually like each other’s company and like spending Time together. Is this enough for them to start a fully committed relationship given their lives are so completely different?
Much to like about this book among them is the fact that these two women talked about the difference in age and experience in a very realistic way. The love scenes were incredibly tender with fabulous passion, the kind of passion that you only can express physically if you feel it emotionally. And these two women do have an intense emotional relationship. The struggle that Maya had coming out as a lesbian or bisexual woman was also very realistic as someone her age would experience. Again I found this part of the story very believable. Harper Bliss is known as an author who writes beautiful stories with marvelous love scenes and this book is no exception, it is well written and will absolutely be a book that I will read again, and maybe again.

So I actually listened to this book because I was in dire need of some new Angela Dawe narration. I had only read one previous Harper Bliss book and while it was fine I hadn’t particularly enjoyed some elements of it.

I’m not the biggest fan of age gap so I started this with a little trepidation. After the first ‘encounter’ with the two leads I thought I knew what to expect for the rest of the book.

I was pleasantly surprised when we get a 10 year time jump and I discovered I really enjoyed the rest of the book and understood more about the beginning needing to be included.

Harper Bliss has some truly beautiful ways with language and I quite enjoyed the characters throughout.

Of course, Angus is easily my favourite characters. I found the examination of the age gap from both characters perspectives quite well done and interesting.

Initially I didn’t take to the younger of the mains, finding her forward and preoccupied with sex..... Many will find this a plus in this book! The third chapter from the older characters viewpoint, I was much more comfortable with, even though she, if not driving the encounter, was saying when the breaks could be released - that suggests the issue is with me rather than the writing.
If you are expecting hot and early from Bliss your expectations will be met!
The time lapse from chapter 9 to 10 was a shock, even though I new from the blurb this was the case - I had persuaded myself I was mixing the storyline up with another book! Once the book got into the later time period I enjoyed it much more, no matter which mains perspective it was told from.
There are loads of wlw books out there and many romances follow the same plot arc. It is unusual to find an older main, previously married to a man (tho off screen in this book) who is going through coming out concerns. I enjoyed this. It felt well written and fresh because of the (to me) unusual situation. 4 stars - from chapter 3 onwards.

Excellent

So when young and beautiful Quinn begs her older next door neighbour Maya for a swim in her pool, sparks fly and after 10 years apart and a chance meeting Maya finds the feelings that she has tried so hard to forget for Quinn are back stronger than ever, What should she do walk away and try to forget or go against everything and give in to the love that she has ignored for the past ten years and risk losing everything. Lucky she gives in to Quinn and a magical love story unfolds. Harper Bliss has done it again!!!!! A truly amazing book

Summer Ends or do they

In the most resounding way of how life makes turns in your life. You never know if you turn Left instead of Right. Who knows what your life might be. And if you stayed when wanted to leave who'd you might meet. I always love how the quandary thoughts of why and how the characters are feeling. Most delightful thrilling thoughts of the age gaps. Most Highly recommend.
