IN FOR A PENNY, IN FOR A POUND
As an avid reader and reviewer and always enjoyed the co-written stories of these two authors, I was so excited about this new book and one at Rawhide Ranch. This will not be an easy review because this book had so many triggers that had me shaking my head. I am sharing lots of quotes and pieces from the story itself.
While in general, I liked Emily, she is described as a service submissive and someone who doesn’t get into trouble often—when she does, it is for reading too late—or, in this story, for reading, while she is supposed to be working in the library. She has been at the Ranch for about a year and has asked not to be matched in a more permanent relationship; she isn’t into age-play or identify as a Little. Then for Professor Dalton Rogers, I don’t like him, he is manipulative and a wannabe dom, acting out his erotic fantasies he writes about. He is all over the place with what he does during the weekend with Emily as his submissive.
The story begins with Emily caught in the library by Master Derek and new hire, Professor Rogers. Derek will punish her, then leave her with Dalton to show what is being done in the new library. After Derek leaves, he tells her he knows she had been pleasuring herself and decides she needs more discipline. My issue is he coerces her into allowing him to punish her or report it to Derek. Then each day after that, he finds something to punish her again and again.
“There is, of course, one other option since I’m not on staff here. To my understanding, that means I’m qualified to deal with such naughtiness myself. At least then there would be no need to tell Master Derek.”
“Oh, I see. You’re never going to let me forget it. Got it. You know, Professor, traditionally one of the main tenets and benefits of this lifestyle is that being punished for one’s transgressions allows you to feel forgiven so you can more on, not to be reminded of your mistakes at every opportunity.”
The story goes downhill the entire first half of the book, and while it does have some improvements in the last half, it doesn’t make up for Dalton’s failure and incompetence as a so-called Dom. The scenes are harsh, cruel, humiliating, and for his jollies. He can’t decide what he wants, who he wants to be or to have her be. She will even safeword at one point—but once again, he manipulates to his way. Yes, they do decide they want to be together at the end—too little too late to be likable.
“He whipped her until she fell limp around the bed, mewling with soft cries, until he knew she was broken and that she was his. He had claimed her. He had mastered her. He had shown her who was in charge.”
“Used. Abused. Taken with no regard for her own pleasure. Punished with sex and alternately called pet and slut. Her emotions were toyed with, her head was all over the place. And she wanted more. Be careful what you wish for.”
“He had taken her everywhere now. He had whipped her with belts, floggers and once with a charging cord. She had been degraded, humiliated and built back up with praise and pleasure. She had been pleasured and punished alternately, sometimes both at the same time.”
“What a difference reality made. This wasn’t a book, and he certainly was not a character, flawlessly written to take charge of this. Or her. The opportunity to be surrounded by and experience the things I had mostly only written about was difficult to resist.”
After the intense weekend, Emily goes back to her room, and starts into sub drop. While Dalton had told her to contact him, if it happened, she doesn’t and now she is in a bad way. It will be through Master Derek that he finds out. Considering he didn’t do aftercare from the intense scenes, I can understand her not contacting him. And the truth about his pen name will come up in the following several chapters.

“You’re Arabella Cole. I’m just a sometimes sub. I could never be what you want. Your Doms are hardcore and so alpha and dirty and devious, and your subs so perfect and willing.”
“I’ve lived deep in the kink closet for most of my life. I played a role, and for so long, I wasn’t brave enough to live my truth. Even after I moved here, I still wasn’t brave enough, not really. If I haven’t been outed. I don’t know if I would have ever told anyone that I was Arabella. I think 90% of my experience is in my head and on paper. Educating Emily - 5 Stars!
This is Dalton and Emily’s story. I very much love this series and this book is no different. It was enchanting, funny and full of heat and emotion. Cannot wait to see what happens next at Rawhide!!

The Rawhide Ranch is in the throes of setting up Rawhide University. Dalton has been hired to teach Creative Writing 101 as well as Erotic Literature. He is even more qualified than Derek ever imagined. Emily is a service submissive working at the Ranch and, being a bookworm, has been assigned to help with the setup of the University’s library. Dalton and Emily first meet in the library and the attraction is immediate. However, it is only a sexual attraction as neither are interested in looking for a forever find. The intense sexual relationship starts there in the library and ultimately leads to an unexpected weekend tryst in the Dungeon. Derek has always been known as an astute matchmaker but this time both parties question his judgement. The weekend is VERY intense with Emily submitting to everything Dalton demands, even when it stretches her limits to the maximum. The aftermath of the weekend is devastating to both of them. Will Emily’s sub drop be the end of their relationship? The story is very emotional, very erotic and very graphic. I personally found Derek’s treatment of Emily in the dungeon to be too dark and too severe. This is NOT a light spanking romance. 4 Stars

Okay I have thoughts and they’re good and they’re bad, but I give this four stars.
I give it four stars because it delivered what it gave. That said, it’s not really my cuppa. The consensual nonconsent was intense and the BSDM got really intense. There was pet play with an actual cage - totally not my cup of tea (but the cage didn’t last long). There was also a lot of degradation and even though limits were discussed and everything was technically completely consensual, the actual things that happened were pretty abusive. There were bruises and serious sub drop.
I’m not going to give it a bad rating because it all fit in with what it said it would do, but there’s a little issue I have. Everything that the heroine said she didn’t want in the beginning, she suddenly wanted with him. And while that’s pretty sexy, it doesn’t say much for her level of strength as a character.
My favorite part was the age play because I love age play. But it was a little tainted because she was so convinced she didn’t like age play. She just had so many intense emotions in this book and had to second guess herself so much. I hurt for her a little even while I rooted for her.
It’s not my favorite from these two authors and I won’t be reading it again. I couldn’t put it down though. So, if the things I’ve mentioned and shelves I’ve put this book in are your cup of tea go ahead and give it a read. Four stars (really more like 3 1/2), 3-4 chili peppers (it was spicy, but I didn’t enjoy these spice as much because it wasn’t my cuppa), recommend for SPECIFIC readers.

Well I did i finally found something besides taboo smut that I have to safeword so I can stop what am reading i can deal with heroine been called a s%$& once or twice i love love it and they don't tho SPOILER!!!!!
She gets slapped in the face and humiliated a lot i understand is everything with consent butttt cannot do it so yeah not for me maybe is ur cuppa tea ☕then you would love it still love the series just not this book in particular .

It was a tough choice on 3 stars or 4.
This is a well-written BDSM club romance. Basically sailing out there with all trope flags flying. Fine. I was therefore inclined to be happy with the book.
Rawhide Ranch is branching out from Little play to a full-fledged BDSM resort and their educational opportunities are going to expand from little daycare and middle schooling to a, well, university for submissives. (OK, very improbable, but let's run with it).
Emily is a service submissive at the Ranch. Professor Dalton Rogers has been hired to teach literature (and erotic literature and creative writing) at the new college. Emily is caught reading (and, yeah, masturbating) in the library instead of shelving, and we are off.
The book is very rushed, but that is the nature of the beast. I am bugged a few things:
1. Dalton (or Master Cole) has been in the closet about being a best-selling erotica author and is absolutely devastated when his ex reveals his secret. OK, I can get the concern when he was living in NY, but not in his new locale. This was necessary for the plot, but it really makes no sense. (As a side note, I look forward to this urbanite experiencing his first Montana winter).
2. OK, I suppose this is more an inside thing for authors, but the notion that "We have found the identity of this erotic romance author and it's a MAN!!!" will land TV appearances is utterly over the top. Shane Starrett must have been rolling on the floor laughing.
3. Emily thinks Dalton is a deeply experienced Dom. And he knows, using his experience and intuition and perception, exactly what Emily needs. Classic Dom tropes. But... Dalton has almost no actual experience. Somehow it just works. And...
4. Here's my real issue. The Ranch would have gotten details on Dalton before hiring him and unleashing him. And they let this guy with almost no experience wail unsupervised on a sub employee for a whole weekend with no supervision at all. And using a variety of implements than can cause real damage if misused. This really dropped the score for me. I understand that balancing their experience levels was necessary for the HEA the authors desired, but this really bugged me when reading it.
OK, the scenes are quite hot. Age play, pet play, submission, pain, impact play, degradation, anal. Very good stuff and well written.

Rawhide Ranch is branching out from Little play to a full-fledged BDSM resort and their educational opportunities are going to expand from little daycare and middle schooling to a, well, university for submissives. (OK, very improbable, but let's run with it).
Emily is a service submissive at the Ranch. Professor Dalton Rogers has been hired to teach literature (and erotic literature and creative writing) at the new college. Emily is caught reading (and, yeah, masturbating) in the library instead of shelving, and we are off.
The book is very rushed, but that is the nature of the beast. I am bugged a few things:
1. Dalton (or Master Cole) has been in the closet about being a best-selling erotica author and is absolutely devastated when his ex reveals his secret. OK, I can get the concern when he was living in NY, but not in his new locale. This was necessary for the plot, but it really makes no sense. (As a side note, I look forward to this urbanite experiencing his first Montana winter).
2. OK, I suppose this is more an inside thing for authors, but the notion that "We have found the identity of this erotic romance author and it's a MAN!!!" will land TV appearances is utterly over the top. Shane Starrett must have been rolling on the floor laughing.
3. Emily thinks Dalton is a deeply experienced Dom. And he knows, using his experience and intuition and perception, exactly what Emily needs. Classic Dom tropes. But... Dalton has almost no actual experience. Somehow it just works. And...
4. Here's my real issue. The Ranch would have gotten details on Dalton before hiring him and unleashing him. And they let this guy with almost no experience wail unsupervised on a sub employee for a whole weekend with no supervision at all. And using a variety of implements than can cause real damage if misused. This really dropped the score for me. I understand that balancing their experience levels was necessary for the HEA the authors desired, but this really bugged me when reading it.
OK, the scenes are quite hot. Age play, pet play, submission, pain, impact play, degradation, anal. Very good stuff and well written.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! By the time you’ve figured out who is who and who to like and dislike, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter!

Emily is staying at a Rawhide Ranch which is a BDSM community. Dalton is a new professor there. Emily is a service submissive who want to scene with a Dom occassionally but not be in a 24/7 relationship. Dalton is secretly a writer of erotic stories and is very successful with that. He has little actual experience as a Dom but knows his stuff from research and fantasies, supposedly.
We get no background about Emily. No explanation as to why she doesn't want a relationship which makes it hard to understand her character. Dalton seems good at being a Dom but his aftercare is horrible. Not even a hug. Spoiler - After their intense first scene, he has her sleep in a cage without so much as a gentle caress. She likes humiliation, but he does this with threats of spankings and very few kind words. I felt he was way too harsh. Both the owner of the ranch and Dalton spank her when she already has bruises and welts.
Many parts where good and the eventual ending is good, but I would have been happier with more information about Emily and some cuddling from Dalton.

I enjoyed this new addition to Rawhide Ranch. It's been stated in previous books that Rawhide Ranch is for all submissives, not just Littles. It was nice to have a story about a submissive that doesn't identify as Little. Emily is the librarian for Rawhide University that is being developed. The first professor that they hire is Dalton Rogers, aka Master Cole. When Emily and Dalton meet there is an attraction there. Then they are paired up by Derek for the weekend and there they both explore their limits. There is a HEA for Dalton and Emily and the journey there is different than the norm. I highly recommend this book!

Wishing this place was real!
This was excellent though it left me wondering why aren't there real places like this. This has great detail, is well-written and a nice build-up. Add in a Dom who sounds just right and it is up there with the best.
At Rawhide Ranch in Montana sub Emily has been taking care of herself in the library when in walks a new Dom. This is another Rawhide Ranch Novel, but this one has far less age play than the others I have read. Dalton and Emily meet with their work at the ranch, but it is when they both sign up for a full D/s weekend and get paired up that they really get to know each other. Emily loves to be spanked, so this BDSM story has a lot of spanking in it. This story can be read separate from the other stories that take place at the ranch since this particular story takes place almost fully between the two people and does not really involve other subs or littles. I was quite surprised at how much I enjoyed the story. It was well written and flowed smoothly from chapter to chapter.

I absolutely and thoroughly loved this story! I enjoy the Rawhide Ranch stories and this one was a bit different to me because it wasn’t all about DD/Lg, it was so much more! It was a soul searching journey for both Dalton and Emily. When Dalton comes to the Ranch to work, he is assigned Emily as his helper, but there is just something about her that he is enamored with. She is endearing, beautiful and submissive, and he knows he wants her. When an opportunity arises to make that happen, you will be entranced by what happens. Emily is such a delight and I truly enjoyed their witty and steamy interactions. Every time I read a RR story, I get so completely invested in the characters, and this story was no exception. Truly a delightful read.

Good Read
The characters’ personalities and their personal problems were quickly established and the pair met up within 2 or 3 chapters. There was no dragging out of the introductory elements; in fact, the pacing of the book as a whole was well-done. The intimate scenes were good, the progression of the relationship was nice (although fast in the characters’ world), and the struggles were realistic. The best part about this book, however, was the fact that there were several scenes that should be part of a quality power dynamics relationship that aren’t often featured in books about them—and they were done VERY well, without feeling clunky or forced and without slowing down the pacing and development that had occurred up to that point. Good writing and a good read!

Emily did not want to be matched, nor did she think she was a little, a pet as slave nor did she want 24/7. Then Dalton Rogers a new professor and she are put together for the weekend. I have to admit I cringed at the humiliation, pet play and intense pain but Emily loved it until,she discovered Dalton’s secret identity. Although Dalton does not have a lot of experience, he understands Emily and when he points ou that Sadie has fulfilled many roles in the short time he has been at the ranch, Emily begins to understand that she doesn’t have to be only one thing and can enjoy being Dalton’s sub. The ending was perfect and gives the reader a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Forced myself to finish reading
I had so many moments of irritation with this book. There is one scene in particular that rides the border of abuse. I know these books are for entertainment purposes, but they need to follow the edicts of RISK awareness and SSC unless that put a disclaimer at the beginning.
Additionally, in this instance converting to “baby girl” status was part of a punishment. Which is fine, but for the love of all things romance I want just one of these authors that write about “littles” that there are variations of Littles and not everyone needs to be a infantilized.

This one educated me!!!
I find myself excited for every new addition to Rawhide Ranch, this one was no exception!
This book really took it to the next level. I really felt that the authors had a great knowledge/experience with the lifestyle and it showed very well in the story they told.
I loved that Emily thought she wanted/liked one thing and one thing only but discovered that was not the case at all.
It was great to see this couple work through so many issues and dynamics to get to their HEA, again it made it more believable and true to life.

This was quite an intense book. Dalton comes out to the ranch and can finally be himself without hiding his kinks. He meets Emily and is intrigued. When the first big event happens, they get paired up and sparks start flying. With his help, Emily learns what it is that she likes and what she wants to happen in the future. I thought this book was entertaining to read, and liked that it was dual POVs.

Emily is usually very well mannered and hasn't even needed a proper punishment, but when there's a chance to get Dalton off her mind for a weekend, she will take it..but things never go as planned! This was a hot and steamy read and I'd read it again and again! Definitely kept my interest

Everyone Could Use a Guy Like This!
This is only my second Rawhide Ranch story, but I loved every aspect of it!
I loved that they authors didn’t just immediately jump into a specific dynamic and stay there, but rather explored a few. I also loved that, in the end, the main couple created their own dynamic instead of trying to mould into something neither of them could definitively choose.
It was real, powerful and definitely steamy!
