A Vampire Hunter walks into a bar...who or what will walk out. Welcome to the Rest, where the Magical and Mundane can drown their sorrows side-by-side. But when a Hunter steps in to drink, all bets go out the window. People are vanishing from this small town, and it's up to the Hunter why. Is the town vampire eating his companions? Does the Faerie grocer long for the old days of sacrifice? Who can be sure? Come on up to the bar, and let the Bartender pour you a drink...
Ohhh!! This was OUTSTANDING in all the ways it possibly could be; deftly written, excellent pacing, intriguing fully-fleshed characters and a story within a story that had me literally hanging on every consonant and vowel. And the ending .... oh the ending .... satisfaction perfection in a giant sigh! And all of that wrapped up in what was essentially a long short story. Now that's talent!! 😍
I liked how the tension was built, the view from the bartender, and how the events unfolded. It was written like a mystery, a secret with no secrets, everything in the open yet hidden, and a lure that took patience to complete. Very well executed.
S bartender runs a bar called The Rest. A Hunter and a Vampire are regulars. The The Hunter and Vampire tell a story, and the truth is darker than it appears.
