Virus Attack

Rate this book
Two separate cat species collide in the cosmos to tackle one shared mission: survive deadly virus attacks while thwarting the tyrannical schemes of power-hungry leaders. Zahra and Orion have misled the felidors of exoplanet Kapteyn b, assuring them they can achieve immortality if they merge with a different species to counteract the virus. Felidors are more advanced than felines and have achieved intergalactic space travel along with language assimilation skills.

Meanwhile, felines on planet Earth face a horrible virus themselves. Their future is just as dire as the felidors. Now, only one shelter houses cats that are still infection free, but time is running out. Inside this facility are two caged cats. Donovan from Kapteyn b and Khan from planet Earth. They become fast friends and allies. What will happen to them?

Five extraordinary felidors are led by Artema in a fight to maintain goodness and equality on their home planet and beyond. Follow the action in this explosive novella series as Rhea, an almighty cat god of the universe, battles her evil sister Hecate’s takeover attempts!

I won this book in a goodreads drawing.

Cats from outer space come to Earth to see if they can breed with Earth cats. The ET cats live in a theological dictatorship. Earth cats are being caged due to some virus, and the two species need to create an alliance.

Not bad.

I found it wonderfully silly and there are cats

The premise is dark and as ominous a situation as our recent issues with pandemics. The darkness is offset by the character interactions and conflicts between a highly advanced feline species, nearly godlike beings and earth cats. And a few humans get included in this science fantasy tale. I love the cover artwork.

Great Fast Read...Does Good Prevail?

A Virus is wiping out the Felidors , an advanced cat type species, who need to protect there kind from extinction. This is a story of good versus evil, of friendship, adventure and a diverse collection of different breeds who need to find common ground to protect who they are, and where, as a collective , they must go for protection and the greater good. This is a fast paced read and page turner. A great start to an awesome series by Susan Draper.

On the planet Kapteyn b live the felidors, a race of cats who are similar to our own felines but much more advanced. Unfortunately, the planet is being ravaged by a virus that is killing many, as well as a despotic ruler who imprisons any who dare to speak out against him. Five young felidors, who have recently graduated from their training academy, are ready to stop the virus and overthrow Zahra. One of the five, Donovan, travels to Earth after they discover the feline race living there, in the hopes that they will hold the key to stopping the virus, while his other 4 friends remain on Kapteyn b working toward the same goals. Will they be able to stop the virus and overthrow Zahra?

This was a good novella. It was very fast-paced, which is somewhat necessary given the length, though the first couple of chapters were a bit of a slog with all the worldbuilding involved. Overall, it's a book that would be good for middle-grade readers. My only complaint (and the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) is that the author falls prey to telling us what's happening rather than showing us, which gave the novella a somewhat choppy feel. However, as this is a new author, I'm hoping she will improve on that front in future books. Even with that choppiness, the story is compelling enough that I definitely want to read the next novella in the series.

As a warning, because this book does start a series, it does end on a cliff-hanger. However, since the next book has already been released, a cliff-hanger is not really a bad thing, because you can immediately jump into book 2.

A different type of sci-fi … this one involves cats from two worlds with different capabilities but both are infected with a deadly virus. There’s more involved with good and evil characters and infighting and it added up to a more interesting read than I had expected. I was somewhat put off by the really abrupt ending with so much to be resolved … oh well, there’s always the next book.

Interesting short story

A story about an advanced race of cats from another planet who discover the race of earth cats. Can the two species save each other from the virus?

What a purrrfect feline SyFy story that was an entertaining romp for an intergalitical ride to find a suitable species to mate with. Could the average house cat be the species they are looking for? An interesting twist on who from outer space might come to earth for another planet.
