Wrangling myself a cowboy was supposed to be a rowdy one-night stand, not turn my carefully cataloged life upside down.
As a librarian, I was used to steamy romance between the pages. But as a lonesome single woman, I needed to corral some trailblazing between the sheets…
Buck Off Ranch seemed like the perfect place to put on my big-girl britches and throw a plot twist in my story.
Mysterious cowboy Tripp Miller was as rugged as he was handsome. After he left me tickled pink at the local saloon, I was determined to live out my favorite Western romance with him as my leading man.
Rope me. Ride me. Satisfy me.
Talk about sore in the saddle!
It turned out, this small town had sparked quite the big adventure.
I was caught somewhere between saving a horse and riding a cowboy or galloping right out of my comfort zone.
I just hoped Tripp was up for the ride because I reckoned I needed more than eight seconds.
Kat Addams is an author of contemporary romantic comedies. She’s had a passion for making readers laugh since she wrote her first over-the-top comic book at the age of eight, earning her high marks and concerning looks from her grade-school teachers. She’s a graduate of the University of Memphis, where she studied English literature and creative writing, and fell in love with the rom-com genre. Her books can be described as equal parts shameless and heartwarming with a heavy dose of heat.
When she’s not writing about exotic men and daydreaming of worldly travels, you can find Kat in her hometown of Memphis, drinking craft cocktails on patios and raising her mini-me with a girl-power attitude—but not necessarily in that order. In her downtime, she loves to embark on outdoor adventures, empower other women, and lose herself in good books and good music.
Kat satisfies her darker side by writing paranormal romance with wicked humor under the name Fritzi Cox. Fritzi provides Kat with an outlet to cause mayhem and debauchery with an element of suspense. Whether you’re reading a book from either Fritzi or Kat, you’re guaranteed a hilarious adventure.
From the beginning I wasn’t a huge fan of Josie. I felt like she was super immature for a 24 year old and I feel comfortable saying so considering I’m a 24 year old myself. I didn’t like the way she lied herself into this retreat, but it was something I could let go if the plot behind it would have been good enough to make up for it,
The plot wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great. Tripp’s backstory was pretty sad.
The sex was just flat out ridiculous.
And the bulk of this relationship took place over a weekend before jumping ahead 6 months in the epilogue.
I just didn’t find it believable, and it was honestly a pretty cringe read as a whole for me
Special thanks to NetGalley for providing a digital copy in exchange for an honest review
I love a good cowboy romance, so I was really looking forward to reading this. There were elements of this book I really enjoyed. Tripp was great! The way they met and how he came across was so good. I loved his humour and confidence, and his deeper emotions which we got to uncover. I found Josie harder to connect with. I felt like maybe she came across a little cringy for me in parts and that made me lose focus. I’d have liked to have seen the rope play scene that was alluded too, and found out what happened in Florida with the librarian too, I don’t think we ever did find out.. unless I accidentally missed it reading. I think maybe more focus on them on the page, and less mention of Josie second guessing herself a fair amount and hiding who she was might have helped push this up to a 4 for me.
All in, there was fun, and the story is cute for sure. I’m highly tempted to go in for book 2 to find out Emma’s story.
Book 1 in the new Buck Off Ranch series by Kat Addams and it was such a fun start. Loved Josie and Tripp. Josie goes to the ranch looking to meet a cowboy and boy does she ever. The chemistry and attraction between them was intense from the first time they meet. Super fun, quick read that will have you laughing and sighing and wishing that you could find your own cowboy.
Loner librarian daydreaming about the romance? Yes please!
This was the first book from this author for me, but I liked her witty style of writing. She created easy going and smutty story, which I enjoyed. Trip- a cowboy has a secret, which brings emotions in you, but overall it's perfect swoony romance about a cowboy who reads and librarian who wants to live her own romance story like in the novels!
This was my first book by Kat Addams! This was a great little rom-com and I enjoyed it quite a bit! I enjoyed the small town vibe and you can't pass up a handsome Cowboy! Looking forward to the next in the series
This delightful story about adorkable librarian Josie and beautifully damaged Tripp is a little bit heartbreaking and a whole lot heartwarming. This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and I am hooked.
The witty plotline sucked me right in as book-a-holic Josie set out to do something all romance addicts have wanted to do: she takes a (literal) vacation from her world and creates a new reality where she is the star in one of her favorite romance tropes. In her case, she’s looking for a romp with a real-life cowboy. Her vacation takes her to Buck Off Ranch, and she creates an imaginary backstory for herself that is way more exciting than her seemingly ordinary one. Things don't work out so well at first. After almost a week spent at Buck Off Ranch and no cowboys in sight, she’s just about to give up when she runs into Tripp, who turns out to be exactly what she needs.
Josie and Tripp are equally sweet, sexy, and complete hot messes in their own way. I adored them, and I devoured every word of their journey to each other and their much-deserved HEA.
I highly recommend this funny, lighthearted read to rom-com lovers. It will give you all the good feels.
“𝙉𝙤 𝙤𝙣𝙚’𝙨 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙥𝙤𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙮 𝙙𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚. 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙢𝙚. 𝙒𝙖𝙨 𝙞𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙭𝙪𝙖𝙡? 𝙒𝙖𝙨 𝙞𝙩 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙛𝙪𝙡? 𝙒𝙖𝙨 𝙞𝙩 𝙖 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩? 𝘿𝙞𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙪𝙨𝙝 𝙢𝙮 𝙗𝙪𝙩𝙩𝙤𝙣? 𝙄𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙠?” 🐴 Let’s talk about “WANTED: Josie Thatcher, Cowboy Catcher by Kat Addams”, first book in the Buck Off Ranch series. 🐴 One of things I like the most in Kat’s books are that her female characters are always strong and independent, in the style of grabbing, in this particular story, the cowboy by the balls and ride for life! Josie is a librarian that’s is a little bothered by her dull life, she is kind of tired of only eating doughnuts, reading amazing romances and talking to her plants. For once she wants to live like the girl in her romance.
That’s when she goes to Buck Off Ranch, a place where woman goes to unwind from man, but for her, she is going there to finally find a cowboy to rope, ride and satisfy her. And that she found. Where it took me some time to warm up to Josie, I feel in love with Tripp Miller hard and fast. He really is one of the good ones and with every chapter he showed some vulnerabilities while spread the dirty talking.
Their roundevouz was pure chemistry and so many steamy scenes. I couldn’t get enough of them. But it was Tripp’s past that grabbed my heart, to finally find out what happened to him and what was holding him back… it just made me cry, I got so emotional because he is such an amazing men, he didn’t deserve that. His development at the end was beautiful.
I liked the end and would love for a bigger epilogue. However there’s no way we won’t see them in the next book of the series. Honestly, I hope Kat’s plans are to give each Tripp’s brothers a book of their own, because I loved them and their relationship. So much to explore. Only time will tell.
Josie is a librarian who is wanting to live out all of the fantasies she experiences while reading her romance books. Her most recent fantasy is wanting to wrangle herself a cowboy so she books herself a trip to Buck Off Ranch in hopes to find herself a cowboy. Josie runs into a mysterious cowboy, Tripp Miller, outside the local library and sets up her adventure of wrangling a cowboy. Josie and Tripp's story is filled with classic Kat Addams wit that regular readers will know and love. I struggled with this one as it did not give me the classic Kat Addams feel. I liked Tripp and his old soul western charm but Josie was a little much. I am looking forward to Emma Jean's book to see where the series goes as I am sure there are going to be some fireworks in the next book. *advanced copy requested and honestly reviewed on behalf of Canadian Girl Book Blog* Follow Me / Blog * Facebook * Instagram * Twitter * TikTok
I think I’m ruined for any other cowboy romance because it doesn’t get much better than Josie Thatcher, Cowboy Catcher! This is my first book by Kat Addams and I was roped in by the cover and title, but I enjoyed the entire ride this book took me on because of the humor and heart.
Josie is a quirky librarian who despite her awkwardness, had me laughing on the first page with her inner thoughts. She is lonely without much of a life outside of her books, so she decides to take the bull by the horns and live out one of her cowboy romances. Josie is just hilarious which is great because the cowboy she catches is funny and goofy as well, making them the perfect pair!
Tripp is a book reading cowboy with a tragic past that he keeps hidden, but we still see his sweet and fun personality shine through despite all that. He isn’t the typical love em and leave em cowboy type, and everyone in the small town considers him to be “one of the good ones.” When the truth comes out about his past, it was really emotional, and I wasn’t prepared for the tears! It wasn’t too long before I was back to laughing as Josie and Tripp figure things out.
This was a quick read for me but it packed a lot of punch, and be warned it gets steamy, although it’s only maybe a couple of times which makes sense with the length of the book.
I’m just counting down the days until I get to come back to the small town of Gillibrook and Tripp’s big family for the next book!
In Reading All the books by Kat, I love how she somehow finds a way to integrate something from one of her other series into the new series. “Us librarians knew how to party, one heavy-handed glass of Bostwick Black Label at a time. That wine was always trouble.” I enjoyed the book, but Josie’s quirkiness was a too much for me. She and Tripp seems to balance each other out with his calm old soul nature. I can not wait to see where book 2 in this series take us.

4.5 Stars for Wanted: Josie Thatcher, Cowboy Catcher (Buck Off Range #1) Kat Addams is a new author to me and after reading this funny, quirky read I’m left wondering why she hasn’t crossed my radar before now. This is Tripp and Josie’s story and boy do they have a entertaining tale to tell. Josie is a librarian looking for a cowboy to take her away from it all and that’s where Tripp comes in, what follows is a funny, well written romance that will have you laughing out loud and certainly leave you smiling like a Cheshire Cat. This book drew me in from the first page and there was no putting down until the final line had been read, it ticked all my boxes, I laughed out loud, I giggled to myself as I fell hard and fast for this couple. The chemistry is sizzling, the banter is witty and I guess all that’s left for me to say is please one click this wonderful read. Looking forward to what’s coming next in book 2.
I thought Wanted Josie Thatcher Cowboy Catcher was really good it's book one in the Buck off series and I can't wait to read what's to come . This is a short read but it was well written I do wish there was more steamy moments but the one that's in the book was super steamy . From the moment that the couple first meet there is an intense attraction that just blew up in a night of passion . This story really drew me in from start to finish my heart hurt for the hero I couldn't imagine that kind of loss he went through . the heroine really had some quirks the drew me in I thought she was super funny and just the things she did just made her perfect for the hero . I'm excited to read more by the author and this series I hope to see more of this couple . Stars 4 herion 4 hero 5 secondary characters 4 steam 3
Josie is living a rather ordinary life until she decides to take matters in her own hands and meet one of those sexy cowboys that she has read about in her books. She has the perfect plan in place which includes vacationing on a ranch however it wasn’t working out the way she thought until Tripp saunters into her life.
There is so much more to Tripp than being a cowboy which includes his interest in all things literary. They are like two peas in a pod but between his past and their very different lifestyles will this be their beginning or their end?
Josie and Tripp were so much fun together and their antics will have you laughing out loud. When you throw in some intriguing secondary characters and the emotional aspect it makes this story a winner for me.
This is the first book I've read by Kat Addams and it surely won't be my last.
I got this book for free, but Josie made me read it. That girl is hilarious and while I know she's just a fictional character, I can see so much of myself in her that is darn near scary. Her and Tripp were... everything, just like the characters surrounding them. I didn't expect the heartbreaking trauma that Tripp had gone through as a child, but I truely loved how Josie was the woman to make him realize that there was much more to life (after a good talking to from his dad).
The only thing i wish for this story, was that it was longer and would have explored more of the Millers family. Maybe there is more in the second book, which i will be reading at some point.
It's the first time I've read a book by this author and I loved it. While it does have some heartbreaking events discussed in it, and Josie is quite the loner, the story is not told in a sad, emotional and depressing way. I needed this book, the story is told with dry humor. Josie and Tripp have a very nice short romance going on, and while I'm not really sold on relationships built in two days, the author managed to write realistically. This is the book you pick up when you feel like reading something that will leave you smiling!
One of my favorite funny lines :
"I puffed out my chest and walked into the barn like a cock on a walk, strutting like I'd seen the roosters do right outside the henhouse"
So yes, I enjoyed reading this book, can't wait for the next one in the series!
She's a librarian that just wants to get out of her books and find a cowboy to have a good time with. She books a retreat away built on lies, but she really needs this. Josie is a little off the beaten path so to speak. She has a lively spirit and she just wants to be adventurous. When she meets Trip she knows he is whom she wants this experience with. Sometimes though feelings get in the way and for Josie that just can't happen. Tripp has had a lot in his life go on. He has been through so much and I loved to see the vulnerability he had in this story. These two hit it off and have a good time in and out of bed. But when things happen can Tripp keep her?
This is the 1st in a new series and is Josie and Tripp’s story. Josie is a quirky librarian who wants to do something different that her norm and books a vacation at Buck Off Ranch, to catch a real-life cowboy, and after being there for almost a week there is no cowboy in sight, until Tripp. The inner dialogue that Josie has with herself is truly hysterical. This is a well written story which is heartwarming, sweet, humorous, fun, and with emotions, which all leads to an entertaining and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Kat Addams has such a witty way of telling a story that has me laughing out loud at times picturing the crazy scenes and antics of the characters... in this we've got Josie Thatcher who has quite the imagination thanks to all the time she has spent reading and working as a librarian. Tripp is the cowboy in this story - sweet and thoughtful with some trauma in his past that haunts him. There is chemistry galore between these two. Will their romance be short and fiery or will they find more than either imagined possible? Really enjoyed the characters and storyline to this first glimpse into Buck Off Ranch. Looking forward to seeing what comes next!
I really enjoyed this steamy romance novel. Normally, when I read steamy romance novels I am not as drawn into the story but for this one I was completely engrossed.
I loved Josie and her cowboy. They had such amazing chemistry together. There sex scenes were really hot and sweet. But most importantly, her cowboy is just awesome book boyfriend material.
I really like that the book was very sweet and was somewhat over the top. There weren't any excess or unrelated drama.
The book is on the shorter side, so there wasn't much time to focus on all characters. Despite this, it is the perfect book for a cure for a hangover.
To be a not overly long book, this still packed one helluva story in its pages! I couldn't blame Josie for looking for some adventure, her life doesn't exactly scream excitement. I didn't exactly agree with the cover story she concocted for her trip, but honestly, it wasn't like she wasn't expecting to form any sort of long-term attachments. Until she meets Tripp. Liked the chemistry between them, right up until Josie wanted to visit the Narrows and Tripp's reaction to her request changed the entire tone of their short-lived psuedo-relationship. Once the story came out about why Tripp's lived his life the way he does, it all made sense why he reacted the way he did.
A good escape from reality. Josie does what a lot of us wish we could do (but I don't like that she lied to get there with no consequences suffered) and summons the courage to be adventurous and bold and go after what she wants. I'm happy to see librarians in a different light than the mousy, timid type. Its a good book to suspend reality for a while and just get caught up in Josie's whim and her relationship. I received the book through Voracious Readers Only and the author and am happy to provide my honest review. Its a simple, easy on the mind read. Looking forward to more of the same with the rest of the series.
Sweet and fun! Josie goes out of her comfort zone to catch a cowboy. Buck Off Ranch is usually a place for women who want to stay away from men. Unlike them, Josie wants one. I like Tripp. He is alone a lot, but his brothers keep an eye on him to make sure he is ok. Tripp lost his twin in a tragic accident. His Dad is able to help him deal with his grief. Mama Sue encourages Josie and Tripp to have fun. I look forward to the next book in this series. Emma Jean will be the star of the next story.
“Tripp and Josie's journey was quite an interesting one! It was so easy to get lost in the pages of their story. At first, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the whole “fling with a cowboy”. Making memory it’s been a really long time since my last cowboy story and with the whole ONS I thought it was going to be so cliche and boring but I was so wrong. Josie awkwardness and silly moments had me laughing but mysterious Tripp made me fall in love with the story. There’s still so much more left and I can’t wait for the next book. A quick, funny read with steam.”
Josie goes to Gillibrook to find her a Cowboy for a quick one night stand. She makes up a story about being a runaway bride so she can stay at the Buck Off Women’s Retreat. Tripp is a local Cowboy who lived and worked on the Miller Ranch. Tripp and Josie meet outside the library and she asks him out for a drink. They meet at the saloon and the fun begins. This is a short, fast read. Both characters are likeable, work hard and have some baggage to clear up. I would read other books by this author.
Wanted: Josie Thatcher, Cowboy Catcher is the first book in Kat Addams Buck Off Range series and as a new to me author, Ms Addams has definitely got my attention. This was a fun, quirky and thoroughly enjoyable story that had me laughing so hard at times, I couldn’t see the pages. Romance that makes you feel so good is always worth recommending, and this is definitely one of those books. I can’t wait to read what Ms Addams has in store for us next!
A short, fun read Josie is on holidayand wants a fling with a cowboy, so invents the person she thinks they will want When she meets Tripp thy have fun until he seems to lose interest. There is more to his story, but he doesn't share with Josie, and then she is gone. Will they have a chance beyond their fling?
Looking forward to the next book in this series.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a voluntary and honest review.
This is an adorable little meet-cute. Well, forced meet-cute? I am not sure how to explain that but Josie wants herself a cowboy encounter and does what it takes to find one. There was some serious emotion in the backstory for Tripp. You know the man is hurting and has suffered and once you know why… grab some tissues. It took Tripp far too long to catch his cowboy catcher. This is a cute, sweet, fun read for sure.
WHISPERED PRAYER Not going to lie, Josie is a really relatable character to me as I tend to also downplay myself and look for an escape from my life. Although, the cowboy she envisioned turned out to be everything and more. Tripp has a heart of gold that matches Josie's yearning for life. I got swept up in their romance and how they seem to bring out the missing pieces in each other. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series!
If you love a really good feel good book then you will definitely want to read this book. You have a beautiful woman who is a librarian and reads romance books all the time and she wants to ride a cowboy so she takes a trip to a ranch and she meets her cowboy. Even though they only had a couple of days together they both felt something. He decides to travel to where she lives and try to get her back. Great book!!
