I have produced two dragonling sons, but only one has become a full dragon. Without another crystal, my second son will fade away. Together with my dragonmancer girlfriends and an army of soldiers, we're going into the Subterranean Realms to find more crystals. But my mission doesn't stop there. If I find more than one crystal and the fabled substance that will restore my potency, I will father even more dragon children. How many children are too many? There's no ceiling when you're a Dragon Breeder.
I like the series, it's got a great world that you can enjoy. the story reads pretty fast, the small group of characters supporting the main character are likable and well fleshed out but it's at the end of this book that it all comes apart. really the last half of the book. The last 150 pages, the decision-making in the plot line just go so far beyond logic and reasoning that you stop being invested in the main character and it just becomes ridiculous thinking that this is how the story would go. when you make a character that's supposed to be as cool as this main character thinks he is, it's a tough slope to travel to keep that level of action up without him becoming an idiot to the reader! unfortunately in this book the main character becomes an idiot and the end of the book is just stupid! ( I don't want to give away spoilers but the main character moves towards impending doom and does such stupid things like watching catastrophe happen and then thinking "wow maybe I should act" after it happens. The author clues us into all the powers the MC has, only not to use them? it just becomes ridiculous as a reader to keep drinking that Kool-Aid.)
Michael, the main character, has become a Dragonmancer, although he rarely takes classes, training or improves his martial arts knowledge. In this third volume his priority is to find an Etherstone (crystals used to store the Dragons). At the very last possible moment, Michael is able to save his "second son Dragon" Wayne. I think it is due to the fact that Michael spends most of his time having sexual encounters with most of the Dragonmancers around the academy, and finishing missions that have little or nothing to do with prioritizing his Dragon sons. That or the author wanted to over dramatize this fact. The most interesting character to date, other than Claire the Seer, is Hana, the Bearmancer "Bearer of Berne. Bearmancer of the Vetruscan Kingdom.” that knows about the crystals (Etherstones) and seeks to hunt down the "Rogue" Dragonmancers. I have to reiterate that if all the sex scenes would be taken out of this series, the story would still be an interesting read. With plenty of the "Dragon Powder" (Aphrodisiac) but only one empty crystal (Etherstone), Michael's main plot arc of becoming the Dragon stud, the Johnny Appleseed to all of the beautiful Dragonmancers, becomes rather stunted. Unless, Michael impregnates all the Dragonmancer girls but lets most of their baby Dragons wither and die.... (which isn't really an option for any good guy). But since the author and Michael prioritize sex and missions over the safety of the newborn Dragons, this is up in the air. This Volume 3 has 300+ pages, with 26 chapters. I consider this volume more interesting that the previous 2. More than the liaisons and lewdly descriptions, I would like to read more about the different Dragons, their different powers and actual training and studying in a Dragon rider/pilot martial Academy. I think that the sex scenes only interest (somewhat) frustrated virgin D&D and LitRPG readers. It does not appeal to me at all. I don't like how authors hold hostage their main characters, or how to narrate a "conflict or a battle" they hold their main characters in pause, like if the readers and their characters were watching a game on TV. In real life, no one would stand by, watching their allies fighting and dying for their lives.
There was more of everything in this continuation of the series. I have to admit that some things were expected and yet not necessarily repetitive. Keeping things novel in a thud and blunder series can be difficult and I think the author did a good job of that. I particularly like how the MC was concerned for the immature dragon and appeared to be truly concerned for the creature. I think the author is carefully developing depth to the MC showing that they have more concerns than the next big battle or the next bed partner.
I did find some things rather annoying as far as the grammar and editing. For instance near the end of the book a number of chapter headings and paragraphs and phrases were highlighted. This seems to be for the author's convenience to identify places where edits were needed. The highlighting should have been removed.
Another item of detail that I think the author needs to clarify. Early in the storyline the author stated unequivocally that all dragons are male. There are no female dragons. Moreover dragons are generally asexual as they do not reproduce rather they can only be created/birthed through a dragonbreeder and a female dragonmancer. So one of the newly born dragons is named Pan. Yet several times the author's main character refers to Pan as a female while the other dragons refer to it as a male. The male and female pronouns are confused. It seems like this is an editing glitch that should have been obvious and resolved before printing. My feeling is this book was rushed or not a priority. Which is kind of sad because I have enjoyed this series and rushing product just to get sales will cost readership in the future. I hope Book 4 is better edited and given more attention.
Big Battles, Bigger World To save his second offspring dragonling, Mike (and team) have to journey to an entrance to the underworld and find more magic rocks, as foreseen by the seer.
The world gets bigger, as. he sees and explores more of it on his way to the entrance. A huge military camp and entrance to the underdark is well described.
Now that hsi ability to father dragons is know, Mike is getting propositioned left and right.
First foray, big fight with ratmen, and a wild dragon. Its discovered that killing a dragon yields magic dust which renews Mike's potency. But the offspring will die without more magic rocks.
Mike takes a team in to rescue Elinari and another dragonmancer, who took some soldiers to occupy the ratmen's castle, but got baited into a trap and are under siege by Kobolds and WildDragons.
Meets a Bearmancer. Learns about another kingdom and alternative ways of doing things.
Learns a lot more about the capabilities of well developed dragonmancers, and meets and sees some with the "titan" ability to turn into a dragon.
The bearmancer knows where the magic stones are supposed to be. Its a huge citadel underground where countless Kobolds worship four ancient huge wild dragons. Attacking that is left for the next story.
King is really lighting up the pages! The story is really getting good! I was really worrying about Wayne, I knew things would turn out alright for the little guy but I was still worried for the little fella. I love the personalities of the dragons! Noctis, Wayne and Garth are hilarious. Also what a cool assortment of powers! Also, their powers brings me back to creation mage! Every time he uses chaos magic I think of the chaosbane clan 😂🤣 and Janet for her storm magic. Also, I’m hoping he scoops up these members of the 12 into his harem! I’m already a huge fan! Claire is also amazing, I like how he handled her in camp 🤣. King has a way of sucking his readers into his books! The stories are just phenomenal! Let’s get into this next book! Onward lads!
New realms to explore. New dangers and new dragons around every turn and gorgeous Dragonmancer women all around. The underground kingdoms hold more secrets than our characters know, and we're just scratching the surface. I can't wait for more! This book was a page turner from beginning to end!
For the most part are very enjoyable book. A few odd shenanigans in the middle of the book but overall I quite enjoyed it. What's not the like dragons beautiful women combat.Hell even though you can't eat it they talk about good food. That said I look forward to the next installment and where else are intrepid hero has to stud himself out.
Dante you fantastic s.o.b. I stent the entire book at the edge of my seat and loved every word of it. I don’t know how you come up with these fantastic worlds but there is no doubt in my mind that this Dragon Breeder series will remain a favorite of mine for a very long time.
The hope of a kingdom, the father of dragons, husband of two dragon riders, and a transplant from the earth. Mike has many issues to settle. As the only person who can father dragons, he is unique, but also in danger as some want to use him as an unwilling stud beast to create more dragons. Not exactly what he has in mind. A good read.
Lots of action and continued great worldbuilding in this addition to the series. Mike Noctis and his crew of women are off on a mission to save his child dragon, but not before a wedding. Lots of fun and adventures make this a great addition to the series. Now I can't wait for book 4
I am really enjoying this series. Book number three was as entertaining and interesting as the first two. This time Mike and friends go in search of the crystals needed to save his son, and the substance to give him back his baby dragon making mojo. I look forward to seeing where the story goes next. This book is definitely worth reading.
More dragons more powers and abilities. More sexy scenes with the fairer sex. And more action than most blockbuster movies. You can’t go wrong with this author or his series.
Follows on nicely from the other two stories, giving just enough to keep you engaging with the sorry without over saturation with too much information.
Good combat, right amount of adult content and story development.
Truly an epic and fast paced adventure! Exploring this vast new world with such incredible characters is a real joy! I cannot wait for the next in the series!
This book is the best of all 3 books. I just wonder how many dragons Like is going to end up with? The next book can't get here soon enough. Can't wait.
Can't wait for vol 4 another good volume as our hero delves deeper into the mysteries of the world and unlocks more manner powers Let's have Penelope on the cover!
This series keeps showing more depth than just another harem novel. It has the fun series time but it also has great fight scenes and interesting magic system.
Definitely fast paced! The dragon fights and the lengths Mike goes to for his children is amazing. You can see Mike will be an amazing leader. Very entertaining read.
