Why Dagger Dagger? Because the single dagger fights are out of fashion; we've seen them again and again and while they've inspired us, it's now time to fight with two daggers, for double the blood! Dagger Dagger is the first and best Blood-Fi Anthology you will ever come across. We proudly dedicate this collection of Sci-Fantasy short comics to the greats of the genre and their readers, to whom we hope to deliver something exciting. Put your weapons down for a second and let us tell you a few stories...
Matt Emmons is a cartoonist currently living in Philadelphia. Born in the Greater Boston Area and raised on a healthy diet of 80's monster movies and fantasy novels, he now dedicates his time to drawing monsters, machines, and animals for his own books.
Love the concept for the anthology, dark fantasy and sci-fi from some really great artists! The whole thing is in black and white and while I get it and it works well for some of the artists, some of the stories were incredibly hard to make out what was happening due to their art style.
I was definitely drawn in by Linnea Sterte but came out with interest in other authors so it was definitely a success and worth a read even though each story wasn’t a hit for me
some faves in no order:
The Dream Machine by Leslie Hung The Monastery by Goran Gligocić Angelic Missile by Linnea Sterte La Technica Oscura by Alexis Ziritt Mercy, As Yet Through Blood by Sloane Leong (loved the concept/story of this one so much) Dog Days by Zé Burnay Yesaul by Artyom and Artem (looooove this art style)
Beautifully packaged, great theme. As with all anthologies, some stories you’ll connect with, others you won’t.
Most of these comics were great in black and white; however, a couple were so dense and abstract that I wonder if a spot color might have helped pull the reader through the panels a bit more easily.
DD is pretty cool and a lot of the stories here work. Some are lovely seeds for larger ideas, some are perfectly self contained.
I Know Al Gofa is well regarded but his story was a mess (in both narrative and visuals). Choppy, sloppy, and bordering on incomprehensible. Probably the worst story present.
