A scarred special operative meets his match with the woman determined to save him from himself.
It was just a little accident—but it changed his life.
Special Xtreme Ops team, River Hepburn wakes in the hospital to the sight of Sacha—his best friend’s little sister—watching over him. Their emotional bond over her brother’s death is undeniable, but he isn’t prepared to feel more. All he wants to do is return to the line of duty.
Accident and injuries are words Sascha Lacey understands, but the name connected with them take her by surprise. Agreeing to nurse River’s injuries is the easy part, but dealing with his brand of stubbornness is far from it. Nor is she prepared for is his fiery kisses —or the emotions that blossom from the heat. Except River is different…a changed man from the boy who left small-town Texas.
Guilt and ghosts of the past can’t stop River’s raw urges when it comes to keeping his hands off Sascha, but what are few scorching nights of passion? Sascha may find his stubborn streak irritating, but can she trust the changed man with her heart?
This steamy romance between a tough military man and his best friend’s little sister will have you staying up all night to finish reading. Grab your copy now to experience Book 4 of the Xtreme Ops series!
My first time reading a military romance and honestly I first chose it to fulfill a requirement for one of my reading challenges but once I got into it I liked it. River is on leave from an assignment with the Xtreme Ops team in Alaska and headed back to Texas where he is from but while he is there he gets into an accident that lands him in the hospital with a bad concussion. When asked if there was anyone they could call to care for him at discharge, the only number in his phone is that of his best friend's sister Sascha. He was in the military with his best friend who died during combat and he hadn't spoken to the sister since then which was like 8 years prior.
The story takes off from there; however, since this was considered a romance and a suspense, I wanted a little bit more of both. It seemed like the majority of the time when River and Sascha were together they were having sex. Also, when the suspense part came up it still seemed like although River was doing his job, there was still a lot of mention of Sascha and what she was doing which took a little away from the suspense. I would have appreciated a little bit of a timeline as well so I could understand when exactly things were taking place and I would have liked to see more of River and Sascha in the epilogue instead of it going into the next book. Overall I liked it but I just felt there were some holes that could have been filled to make it even better.
Another great addition to the Xtreme Ops series! This is River and Sacha's story. The author brings all the feels in this steamy romance. She pulled me in with all the emotions as well as the sizzling chemistry and had me glued to the pages with the thrilling story line. It's well written with vividly painted scenes ,moves fluidly and is a fantastic read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Xtreme Ops team member River Hepburn is called by his mother to return to Texas for an intervention with his brother who has a severe alcohol problem. Before he arrives, a vehicle smashes into his rental car and he awakens in the hospital. The hospital used his cell phone to find a contact to take him home and care for him while he recovered. They had called River’s deceased best friend’s younger sister, Sascha Lacey, who agreed to come get him.
River and Sascha have both crushed on each other since their teenage years, but the bro-code kept them apart. Now the bro-code and guilt over Ethan’s death still means she is off-limits to the stubborn man and have kept him avoiding her ever since. But in close proximity now, can they avoid the strong attraction that has always existed between them? And when he is called back to work in Alaska, and she chooses to go as well, will they be put in unexpected danger?
Special Operative, River Hepburn was only supposed to go home for the weekend when he ends up in the hospital, after a car accident. Not wanting to worry his mom, he opts out of calling anyone to his beside which leads to the hospital contacting his last emergency contact.
Sascha Lacey is the last person River would have expected to see at his bedside. She’s the younger sister of his best friend, Kyle, someone he’s always wanted but never pursued. Since the death of his friend, River purposefully cut his ties to Sascha and doesn’t understand why she’s ready and willing to take him home and care for him until he’s able to get back on his feet. Not after failing her and Kyle during their last deployment.
Sascha is a film student who’s been feeling in a rut and burned out lately. Seeing River again sparks something wild and hungry inside her. She sees how different River is to the boy she loved years ago. He’s harder now, his life experiences shaping him into someone familiar but also different. Both sides call to her but something is laying heavy over River and make him push her away before giving them a chance.
There was so much delicious tension between these two! It was sizzling and emotionally charged that you could feel it coming off the pages.
Sascha was a great heroine, she was kind and sweet but also courageous and optimistic. I loved her spontaneity. The way she embraces River and the new exciting feelings he awakens in her. Feelings of contentment and happiness she hasn’t felt since she lost her brother. The fact that she pursues River and grabs hold of him with both hands and no hesitation was refreshing. She knew what she was getting into and she still risked it all for the chance to love and be loved by the one person who’s ever tempted her for forever.
River was also a total alpha Hero. He was a skilled soldier on the field and a guy who always had his team’s back but when it came to Sascha – even when he was running scared and suffering misplaced guilt – River was a total softy when it came to his girl. There were so many swoon-worthy moments with this guy. I loved him.
It also helps that the angst was very low key. Both have issues they have to work through, River’s survivor’s guilt and adjusting to having someone waiting at home for him when he’s always been a loner, to Sascha adjusting to living in Alaska, spending a lot of time alone while River’s on assignment and experiencing first-hand the dangers River’s exposed to a on regular basis. What I loved about this story is that there was never drama for the sake of drama. Both MCs have their own fears and insecurities about their still new relationship but they also are open about it, talk things out and it was nice to see them approach their issues in such an honest but level way.
This is the second book by this author that I’ve read and I’m still blown away by how flawless the story is written. Characters (both MCs and secondaries) are always well developed and engaging and the chemistry between the MCs is always spot on! This author is definitely one to watch out for 😊

I just adore this author. She keeps amazing me with her stories. I adore all the men of Xtreme Ops. They are ex-military alpha men who when they give their hearts to a woman they go all out to protect them. The women that are lucky enough to receive that heart are just as brave and fierce in their own right.
River Hepburn takes leave to go to Texas to help his mother with his alcoholic brother. Unfortunately he doesn't make it to his momma's. He is in an accident. He suffers a concussion that keeps him in the hospital for a few days. Upon his release, they call a local number in his phone. That number belongs to Sascha Lacey. Sascha is Ethan's little sister. Ethan was like a brother to River. Ethan followed River into the military after high school. Unfortunately Ethan lost his life in Afghanistan.
Sascha is struggling to finish her last film for her degree. To earn some extra money, she films others so they can upload to their vlogs. She gets a call to come and get River from the hospital. She rushes to his side as she has had a major crush on him while growing up. Sascha cares for the grumpy special operative during his last few days of healing. When River decides to head back to Alaska, Sascha drops everything and goes with him. She wants an adventure and to feel alive again.
These two have to learn how to cope with time apart while Sascha learns her way around a new city and state. When danger comes close, will River be able to stop the man or men who seek out and kill current and former military personnel? Danger is also near to the women of the dead men. Will Sascha have come to Alaska only to face danger and the end?
This is a suspense-filled story is a spicy one. I adored how they interacted. As this book is written in a dual POV format, getting that glimpse into the characters' thoughts really helped me to see how each felt during a scene.
If you adore a ex-military alpha men who find their soulmate, then this is a story for you. I highly recommend it to anyone OVER 18!
River is a hot, sexy Special Operative, dedicated to his career, his team, his country and to his family. He and his team are hunting home grown terrorists in Alaska. A quick trip home to help his mother and brother ends up landing him in a hospital bed with a concussion and sore ribs. In order for him to be released from hospital, he needs a caretaker, but he refuses to burden his mother further. When a nurse contacts Sascha, a sister of River’s deceased best friend and military buddy, she agrees to provide River with the care he needs even though she hasn’t seen him since before her brother’s death years ago. She has never forgotten him, and has always had a soft spot for him in her heart. River is shocked and less than thrilled when she shows up at the hospital. He hasn’t forgotten her either, or the guilt he still feels about her brother’s death. With no other option available, and still suffering dizziness, nausea and confusion, River allows Sascha to take him to her home. While he is healing from his head injury, his heart and another part of his body are telling him to get closer to the beautiful, compassionate and very stubborn Sascha, real close. Sascha is a film student preparing her final film in order to get her masters degree. The reappearance of River into her life is both distracting and welcomed. She is well aware he is not the same man she was attracted to years ago. He brawnier, tougher and scarred now, but her attraction to him is fiercer, and her heart still yearns for him. He struggles not to show her how he feels and is relieved when he is called back to his team. He never expected Sascha to insist on coming with him back to Alaska and that he would be relieved to take her with him. River couldn’t know that her presence in his life puts them both in danger or that he would do anything to keep her safe. Neither knew a chance meeting with an old acquaintance would lead to a love match.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this fast-paced, suspense filled book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

River is taking a break from his work with his team in Alaska in order to help his family in Texas when he is involved in a serious car accident. The hospital reaches out to Sascha because he doesn't keep lots of contact on his phone. They haven't seen each other in years but she agrees to come to the hospital to pick him up. It turns out that attraction doesn't just go away with time and distance.
This book is less about a bad guy and more about the couple and healing after tragedy. I thought Sasch was very impetuous when she went to Alaska but I understand her reasons. It was nice how she was self-sufficient and figured out how to make a life for herself in Alaska. River was already set in his career so that aspect of the story was only important because of the bad guy. The interplay between the guys on the team was awesome (as always). Both characters had a nice growth curve without anything too earth-shattering.
One thing that really bugged me was Sascha keeping River at her house when his mother must live in the same town or close by. The setup is that River was Sascha's bother's best friend for some period of time before the men joined the military so that means they must have lived close to one another. Why would Sascha not contact his mother? I just felt like that was weak.
Overall, this was a strong addition to the series. This is a contemporary story set in Alaska and Texas. There is a little military, a little filmmaker, a little depression, a little self-doubt as part of the story. This is a very fast read.

“Xtreme Affairs” is book 4 in the ‘Xtreme Ops’ series by Em Petrova. They are interconnected stand-alone stories about members of a special forces team operating under the auspices of Homeland Security and based in Alaska.
River Hepburn is so stealthy in his role as a member of the elite ops team that they gave him the nickname Shadow. It’s ironic that when not in danger, and just on his way home to visit family, he’s injured in a car wreck. The hospital must release him into somebody’s care. Sascha Lacey is the only one with whom they can get in touch. She’s the younger sister of the best friend River enlisted with … the best friend who was killed while on deployment. River was attracted to Sascha before they enlisted but they were all young, and the bro code about sisters being off limits was strong. The pull of attraction between the 2 of them is stronger than ever now, and neither one really wants to fight it. As River struggles with his own personal demons, Sascha find herself in great personal danger as the action in the story increases to a feverish pitch.
I thought this story was well-written and well-paced. The characters have much more depth than you might expect. If you’re familiar with the series, there are many secondary characters you’ll recognize. There are some humorous moments scattered throughout, and the passion between the 2 lead characters is hot enough to raise even the frigid temperatures of Alaska.

Book four in the Xtreme Op Series will have you setting on the edge of your chair as your interest will be captured from the very first page through the ending. They open with a mission reminding River Hepburn of one that got his best friend from home killed. River then goes on leave back home to Texas to help his mom with his brother, Kyle, but he does not make it home. He was hit by another vehicle in an intersection suffering a server concussion as the air bag did not deploy on the rental car. When they discharged him from the hospital, the only one they could find come and get him was his deceased friend's little sister, Sascha Lacey. He never told his mom that he was coming, so they did not have her information. Sascha came to get him taking him back to her place, which he thought he would never see her again. He always cared about her making it extremely hard being this close to her. He slept for the first few days then came the day he could not keep his hands off her so that turned into the day he had to leave. Only Sascha would not let him leave without her. She packed a few things leaving for Alaska with him. Little did they know when they left Texas that they would end up in the middle of the next mission for the Xtreme Ops. Hep soon found himself thinking long term with Sascha, he could not keep his mind off her. He was her protector.

Hepburn has secretly been my favorite all along because I'm a sucker for the southern charm, and his romance with his late best friend's little sister is everything I could hope for.
River Hepburn is on his way to Texas to help his mom with his brother when a car accident derails his vacation. The only person they could reach to come for him is Sascha, whose older brother was KIA while deployed with River. Their romance starts slow but quickly turns up the heat, and as soon as he's ready to travel again they're back in Alaska, where he rejoins his team as they hunt a serial killer and she transfers her college credits so she can continue working on her final documentary for her film degree.
I so enjoy these testosterone-fueled action romances, especially how the intensity forces our heroes to consider what matters most in life and how to lock in their futures with the women they love. I loved Sascha's devotion to River, regardless of the risks, and I was especially impressed with the way he helped her with her documentary. Very tender, sweet scenes interspersed with heart-pounding action keep this story moving and I couldn't put it down until the wonderful HEA.
If you like romances with military heroes and strong, independent women, this is the series for you. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Xtreme Affairs is the forth book in Em Petrova’ Xtreme Ops Series. This is a happily ever after alpha military romance that is action packed, suspenseful, and heartwarming. This book can be read as a standalone, but when read in order, a greater appreciation for the series and the characters is achieved.
River Hepburn, a member of a Special Xtreme Ops team based in Alaska, wakes in the hospital to find the Sascha Lacey—his best friend’s little sister—agreeing to help him recover from injuries resulting from a car accident. They have a past. Both Sascha and River share feelings and an attraction from each other that was present even before her brother was killed in war. Years later the connection is still there, even stronger then before. Now they just have to see what distance, a serial killer and fate has in store for them. Read it and follow their journey.
I loved that the characters in this series have strong but caring personalities, especially Sascha. I loved her carefree and independent nature and she wasn’t afraid to let River know her expectations and her options. Together their personalities complemented each other and the sparks between them were explosive. I can’t for the next book in this series!
I received an ebook copy of this book from Booksprout for an honest review.
Xtreme Affairs is the fourth book in the Xtreme Ops series and Em Petrova has written another intriguing and fascinating story to reel you in and hold you captive till the last page is turned! River and Sacha had chemistry that was never explored due to the “Bro Code” and many years later after tragedy and loss have impacted them both, they are suddenly thrown into each other’s path and faced with the elephant in the room; feelings that were never acknowledged.
River struggles with the promise made to his best friend who was lost to war and spending long hours in Sacha’s present only makes being honourable an impossible task. Sacha is a sweetheart; and while she may initially seem soft and innocent, her determination to care for an injured man and test the waters of attraction and long buried desire are impressive.
Xtreme Affairs has a storyline that reveals buried desires, personal baggage and deep and passionate emotions that all combine to make this story intensely personal and heartfelt. River and Sacha are wonderful and genuine characters that have sizzling chemistry and are both dedicated to their family (both blood and by choice) and protecting and caring for others. Xtreme Affairs is a great addition to the series and definitely pulls at the heartstrings.

Oh My Word Em has done it again! Book four of Xtreme Ops is titled Xtreme Affairs and its River Hepburns aka Shadows story which takes us back to Texas where River is headed to help his mother have an intervention with his brother and get him into rehab and hopefully get his brothers life straightened out. While he is on the way River is involved in a vehicle accident and the hospital ends up calling his deceased best friends sister Sascha Lacey to see if she is willing to have him discharged from the hospital into her care? River wakes in the hospital to Sascha clumsily coming down the hallway with a nurse headed for his room. River and Sascha have cared deeply for each other since they were teens but Sascha being the best friends younger sister meant she was always off limits and in Rivers mind even all these years later still is? They both are fighting battles of doing their best to keep their hands off each other, but what are a few times of passion going to hurt? This story is fast paced, action packed, suspenseful with its share of danger, fear, trauma and heaps of drama to go around with some bumps in the road along the way. From the first word you can’t set this book aside. Very anxious for Book # 5. I received an Advance Reader's Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest thoughts and opinions.
There is just something about author Em Petrova's Xtreme Ops Series that reels me in and refuses to allow me to start one of its books and not finish it in one sitting. RIver and Sascha's story definitely did not disappoint! Friends to lovers; best friend's little sister; opposites attract; military suspense; forbidden love.... whatever your favorite trope may be, this book not only successfully checks off so many boxes but manages to do so in an exceedingly well manner. Dialogue is fresh and often humorous. Both River and Sascha have an intellectual and emotional depth often lacking in many military suspense storylines-- often in favor of drawn out adventure / rescue scenes. Em Petrova instead created the perfect balance of suspenseful intrigue, sexual chemistry, getting to know you again, and emotional angst. All in all, this is just one dang good book and well worth the read! If you haven't read all of the books in this series, I HIGHLY suggest that you start on Book 1 and work your way through the series. Every book is standalone and equally as good as Xtreme Affairs.
I received a copy of this book through Booksprout in exchange for an honest review.
This is the 4th book in the ‘Xtreme Ops’ series by Em Petrova. I just love this authors work!!!! All the books in this series are interconnected stand-alone stories about members of a special forces team operating under the auspices of Homeland Security and based in Alaska. This is River Hepburn (shadow) and Sascha Lacey's story. She is the sister of his best friend that followed him when he enlisted but was killed while deployed! His mother called River and wanted him to come home to help with a problem, he didn't make it, he was injured in a car accident. Sascha came to pick him up from hospital to take care of him. The attraction is very strong as is the chemistry. In this book you will find all the action you would ever need, the danger that surrounds, the personal demons that have to be worked out, but most of all respect for each other and love! Beautiful read, I can' wait for more in this series.

A book that flowed effortlessly with this series. Each book is better than the rest if possible. Hard to choose the best one. This is the story of River Hepburn and Sascha Lacey. River was the best friend of Sascha and her brother who was killed in the war. River still has extreme feelings of guilt about the loss of his friend. Due to a freak accident Sascha is tagged with taking care of River. He is gruff and grumpy but also realizes that he has deep feelings for Sascha and now is trying to sort his feelings. Sascha also has deep feelings. Will these two be able to sort their differences and turn to each other. Will River be able to protect Sascha from home grown terrorists who he hunts as part of his job. This book has passion, hunger, hotness and love. It has lots of drama, suspense and romance - a perfect combination. It was extremely entertaining and I enjoyed it from start to finish. This book takes sexy to the max and is sinfully hot with super great characters. I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This is the 4th book in the Xtreme Ops series. River is a member of a special ops group stationed in Alaska. He takes leave to fly to Florida to help his mother get his brother into rehab. Unfortunately, he is in a car accident and suffers a severe concussion. The hospital calls Sasha, the sister of River’s best friend, to pick him up and care for him. They haven’t seen each other since Ethan’s death. Despite the passage of years, the chemistry and feelings between River and Sasha are still as strong as ever. Sasha returns to Alaska with River and they both draw the eye of a serial killer. This book has everything I love about military romances - alpha heroes, self-rescuing women and romantic suspense. This tale is a fairly good balance of love and danger but while it started great the last half of the story fell flat for me and I struggled to finish this one. I plan to continue to read the series and I hope the next book is as strong as the first three were.
I really enjoyed reading Xtreme Affairs . It is full of suspense and action packed . The characters are great . River Hepburn (Shadow ) member of Extreme Ops heads home to Texas to help his momma . Before he can get there he is in an accident . Suffering a concussion out for several days . The hospital calls Sascha Lacey cause her numbers in his phone . Saschas brother and River were best friends until he died in the military during a mission . It left River feeling guilty . Sascha has had feelings for River forever but he never made a move because of her brother . As Sascha and River spend time together the attraction is hard to fight . Sascha goes to Alaska and they soon become more but danger comes calling for both of them and the Extreme team will need to come to the rescue . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

Special Ops River Hepburn ends up in the care of his best friend's sister Sascha after he gets in a car accident. I wondered how her number was in his cell phone and that it was the same number when he hasn't spoke with her in years. Maybe he got it from Ethan before he died so he could look out for her. The first part of the book he spends fighting his attraction for her, feeling guilty that Ethan is gone, and thinking that he wouldn't want them to be together. The second half of the book it spent trying to find the killer who is after military men and their significant others. I was surprised Sascha would just hop on a plane with River leaving behind her life in Texas for Alaska. She does enroll in another film program, but since she was working on her thesis they could have just as easily made her start over. There are plenty of steamy moments along with the action. I kind of wish River and Sascha spent more time talking like they did in the beginning than on the carnal stuff.
I really enjoyed this book. This book had it all - friends to lovers, brothers little sister, extreme situations.
I liked the character of River. In my mind, he is the perfect example of a special operative. His mannerisms, his actions, and his moral all align for me. He gets hurt and he is someone who tried to push too hard too fast. He doesn't do "patient" well. Luckily for him, Sascha is able to calm him down or force him to take better care of himself and help him.
Sascha is a wonderful character. I think most people can relate to her in some way. She is creative and yet she is stuck. She is someone who needs a new adventure to get that creativity back and who better to help her is the man she has had a thing for for years.
The suspense was amazing and the chemistry was off the charts!! I can't wait for more in this series.
Shadow has forgotten what it is like to hope, the guilt he carries overshadows any possibility of hope and keeps him in hiding. Hiding from his past, from those he failed and from his own judgement, until the past is once again stood infront of him and he can no longer hide. Sascha, the only woman who has ever held his heart, the only woman he can never have, the woman he failed. She still brings him to his knees, the chemistry between them explodes from the page, but not only is she everything he ever wanted, she knows him well enough to call him on his shit. She stands up to him, pushes him, challenges him and loves him. Sizzling hot passion combine with car bombs and kidnappings that have the Xtreme Ops team questioning who the real target is. A fantastic, fast paced book which I read on Kindle Unlimited.
Em Petrova has written lots of really good books, but her Xtreme Ops Series really shows off her writing talent. I believe this is her best series so far. River and Sascha could not be more diffent, but they sure do fit together very nicely. River is part of an Xtreme Ops Military group based in Alaska. Sascha, is the little sister of his best friend, that was killed in Afghanistan. She is a more creative, more fluid person. After she has helped him get back on his feet again after an accident, she decides to go back to Alaska with him. From there, it is a story of danger, brotherhood, and love. It is definitely a book that pulls you into it, and does not let you go until the last page. I very highly recommend this book and this series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout, and also purchased a copy, and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Military to the core, it was ironic that River was injured on his way home. And who was the only one to answer her phone when he needed help? Sascha, the little sister of his fallen brother in arms. The attraction he’d had for her, the one he fought against, was much harder to resist when she was here. Helping him. Being kind and beautiful…. Sascha was at a crossroads in her life. She wasn’t sure what she could do about it, until River provided an unexpected turn…
And that wasn’t the only one. Battling inner demons was beyond difficult but when a deadly unknown targeted them, they were there for each other. It was hot. It was emotional. And it was a great friends to lovers read...
*I happily reviewed this story **Thank you to Booksprout
River is injured in his Special Ops role and Sascha is his deceased best friends sister. She helps him heal and they get reconnected. Both go back to Alaska afterwards and then the suspense really starts. Plan for an amount of time to read this as you will not be able to put it down. The characters are full of strength and determination, as well as intense feelings and emotions. The storyline has plenty of action and suspense with danger at every turn. Loved the banter and closeness of the group as they work toward their goals. The romance breaks through barriers. The writing is so detailed that you can feel what is happening. Can not say enough about how good this book is. Can not wait for another in this series.

This book is another awesome addition to the a Xtreme Ops series. This is River and Sascha’s story. River and her brother, Ethan, were best friends and when River joined the service, so did her brother. But, Ethan didn’t make it back home, he was killed in Afghanistan. River felt guilty over his friends death and it had been years since he had seen Sascha. When he is injured in a car accident on his way to his mother’s home, he ends up with a concussion and some memory loss. Sascha is called to pick him up and take care of him during his recovery. She always had a crush on River and vice versa, but due to the bro code he never followed through on it. A good storyline and wonderful characters to fall in love with. I love Em’s books, they never disappoint.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is the fourth book in the Xtreme Ops series and is about River and Sascha. They have had an attraction between that went unexplored because of her brother. His loss was a connection that will always tie them together regardless. River does not plan to take it further but his accident makes it impossible to resist her any longer. Sascha does not want to lose this chance with him. Their story has plenty of drama, danger, heartache, family, lust and love. They both finally got to have the chance at a happy future together. He and his team will have to make sure that does not get taken away

This is the latest story by Em Petrova. I couldn't put it down. I love this series by her. I was caught up in the action from the first page. I loved the interactions between Sascha and River. River Hepburn aka Shadow flew home to help his mother out but before he can get there, he is in an accident. He wakes up to see Sascha there. Sascha is his best friend's little sister. He hasn't seen her since the day he told her of her brother's death. Sascha had a crush on him when she was younger. She wants to take care of him. He is needed back in Alaska with his team and she takes a chance to change her life by going with him. Will they get a chance to see where their attraction goes?

WOW I love the story. River takes leave to head back to the states to help his mother with an intervention with his drug addicted brother and has a wreck instead. He never makes it home. A nurse goes through the list of numbers on his phone in order to find someone to pick him up from the hospital and to care for him until he recovers. Sascha picks up the phone call and is shocked that she is asked to pick up River and care for him. She has not seen or heard from him since her brother died. She picks up the grouchy and concussed man and takes him home. What happens when he runs scared because of the feelings she brings out. A fantastic story.

Loved it! This book was amazing. River and Sasha's chemistry was just amazing! Although River is a broken man, with injuries inside and out, he cares about Sasha which he would deny whole heartedly., until he can't. Sasha is carrying her own demons and putting up with his stubbornness is getting on her last nerve, but things change. Well written, Em Petrova gives us a book full of feeling and thought provoking issues that come to the surface. Full of drama and an intensity that rivals many other books, but let's not forget the wonderful moving steamy scenes that lift the book and impacts the relationship. Fantastic book I very much enjoyed.
