About the author

Robert J. Crane was born and raised on Florida's Space Coast before moving to the upper midwest in search of cooler climates and more palatable beer. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in English Creative Writing. He worked for a year as a substitute teacher and worked in the financial services field for seven years while writing in his spare time.

Back to loving this series!

I admit I got irritated when Dianna was on her own for so long and we lost touch with other characters, but we are back to normal, and Siena has good things happening, finally. The other characters are strong and a big part of her story. She still kicks butt, and still needs help to keep up the good fight. Face it, none of us do well alone!

Here we are, some 40 odd books into the series, and Crane is still managing to surprise me.

This installment felt a lot like some of the earlier books, when Sienna didn't have so many demons, and hadn't been so completely and utterly through the wringer.

That, and the narrative style of flicking back and forth between the different investigations made for a very pacy, easy read.

I like this iteration of Sienna. I like her on something of an upward trajectory. The stories have a more hopeful edge than we have become used to.

Of course, this probably means that she's in for some major issues ahead, but I don't care. This one made me smile.

Humour, sass and some new/old faces. Who could ask for more?

Another winner

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book in the series that I didn’t like. This one was cool because it’s sort of had similar lessons at the end for each group. Reed and Sienna both had things they had to get through and I really enjoyed the other characters included in this story. The very last chapter made me sad though. I hope you elaborate on that in the next book.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one

What can I say, RJC does it again! He's a storyteller. And since we're all nuts for Sienna, the story is definitely worth reading. Our hero is trying, she's grown up hard and fast, brutally so, but she's trying. Can't fault her for stumbling along the way.

My Favorite Girl

Well if you are going to fail in love with a series, then this is the one. The human condition, with super human powers. Magnificent world building and relatable characters.

Never dissapoints!

Everyone working on their own thing in this one. Loved the story passing back and forth between Sienna & Reed. A few old character comebacks & new old characters appear. I'm intrigued by the team up possibilities & body count.

Slow and steady, less explosive

Some books in this series are true page-turners, almost impossible to read slower. This book was more slow and steady. It was very good but said not leave me as exhausted when the ride was over.

Brilliant

Absolutely brilliant read. These books just keep getting better. I couldn’t put it down from start to finish. Sienna is my all time favourite character I absolutely love her snark and dark humour. Action packed and an absolute page turner. Cannot recommend enough

Plenty of action but this one concentrates on the characters, bringing out their flaws and good bits. A comfortable read, as Sienna seems to be growing up into a fine human being, for now!

Gods of old and new

I enjoy this series so much. These characters with superhuman powers but all the same frailties that we share. Their struggle to do the right thing even when the wrong thing really would solve their problems.

Robert Crane has me rooting for his character Sienna again and again even though this is her 45th book. She’s fun, tough, and cares about what is right. I appreciate that Mr. Crane is diligent about getting out a new book on a regular basis, even though at one time he said he was going to stop writing these after the 25th book.
