Book needs a trigger warning for child sexual abuse.
Menzy does a great job here, keeping the reader involved in a story now stretching to at least six volumes. Levi is still an obnoxious prick, but although he is looking out for himself as usual, the reader starts to see some of the actions that brought Levi to where he is now and made him into the craven, sex-starved beast he is today.
There's actually a lot of non-Levi material in this book. A good deal is about Shay and his new life, and Levi's old Brixton mate Scott and his roommate Fergus. At times, Levi is not the star of the book, and although that's fine to a certain extent, it breaks up the focus of the series so far.
This book also doesn't seem as seedy as previous ones, although there are still scenes of degradation (to Levi) and humiliation between Levi and his stepbrother Danny. Their relationship has definitely veered off into an unsettling direction, not so much because of their familial relationship as the power dynamics between the two. We all know Levi will do whatever it takes to continue his particular place in local society, but he's playing a dangerous game here.
Although Levi is a pretty terrible person, I like the guy a lot and hope Menzy eventually reveals some redeeming qualities in him. There are glimpses of that here, and I hope they stay and are expanded upon. Levi is in some serious need of healing and I hope he gets it.

Every installment better than the last
I am so addicted to this series! Zane Menzy is an absolute favorite author of mine who never shys away from issues and insecurities of his characters. Dirty Candy was so worth the wait. I don't want to give away spoilers so let me say that the ending absolutely blew my shit out of the water! No matter what the outcome i am actually rooting for Levi in a strange way because i know there is good in him. I will be impatiently waiting for the next chapter. Thanks Zane.

I don’t think I’ve ever motored through a series of books as fast as I have with this one. Levi is such a little shit, but somehow he’s become a bit more likeable with each book. You start to see why he is the way he is, and it weirdly makes sense. Anyway, onto book six now!
