தீயவழியில் மக்களுக்குத் துன்பம் தருபவர்களைத் தடுத்து நிறுத்துபவர்களை மக்கள் கொண்டாடினாலும் அவர்களையும் தீயவர்கள் என்ற வட்டத்துக்குள்ளே தான் அடைத்துக் கொண்டு தீயதில் நல்லது என்று கொண்டாடுகின்றனர்.

வீரராஜன் தன் நடத்தையால் சொத்துக்களை இழந்து கொண்டு வந்ததால் மாமா மகளான பூங்கோதையை எப்படியாவது திருமணம் செய்து அவளின் சொத்துக்களை அடைய வேண்டும் என்ற ஆசைக்கு அவளே முட்டுக்கட்டை போடுவதால் ஊரில் இருக்கும் கள்ளன் காத்தவராயனிடம் அவளைக் கடத்திக் கொண்டு வரும் பொறுப்பை ஒப்படைக்கிறான்.

பூங்கோதை கடத்தப்படும் போது அவளைக் காப்பாற்றித் தன் வசம் கொண்டு செல்கிறான் மலைக்கள்ளன் என்று சொல்லப்படும் வீரையா.

பூங்கோதையைக் காட்டில் இருக்கும் தன் வீட்டிற்கு அழைத்துச் செல்லும் வழியைப் பற்றி நுணுக்கமாக விவரித்தது காட்சிகளாக வாசிப்பவர்கள் மனதில் விரிவது தான் இக்கதையின் பலம்.

பூங்கோதையை அவளின் தந்தையிடம் ஒப்படைத்து அவர்கள் வீட்டிற்குத் தான் மாப்பிள்ளையாக வர விரும்புவதைச் சொல்லும் மலைக்கள்ளனின் வார்த்தை எவருக்கும் சந்தோஷத்தை கொடுக்கவில்லை..

இதுநாள் வரை மலைக்கள்ளன் மீது சுமத்தப்பட்ட பழியாவும் வீரராஜனுடன் சேர்ந்து காத்தவராயன் செய்த செயல் என்று தகுந்த ஆதாரங்களுடன் நிரூபிக்கப்பட்டதுடன் சிறுவயதில் காணாமல் போன அத்தையின் மகன் தான் மலைக்கள்ளன் என்ற உண்மை தெரிய வரும் போது அனைவர் மனதிலும் மகிழ்ச்சி குடியேறுகிறது.

எழுத்தப்பட்ட நுணுக்கத்தில் வாசிப்பு சுவாரசியம் பெறுகிறது.

This story happens in British India. The author gave all those minute details that bring their lifestyle visual. Can definitely feel how electricity, motor transportation, telephones made a tremendous change in our life. Though the tamil slang is old but still very refreshing. Sure an interesting read.

3.5 Stars.

This book was very entertaining! It is being categorized as a thriller in stores, but to me, this is a 1940s Tamil dark no-spice stalker romance.

Our main characters: A handsome vigilante stalker who is also well-read, smart, kind, has no compunction about breaking into the female lead's place and has a lair atop a mountain with secret pathways and passwords (and passwords/code words are based on what the female lead likes). Poongodhai, a beautiful, brave, smart, educated, stubborn woman who has the guts and wits to fool even a hardened criminal and shuts down every flirtatious comment from the robber/stalker.

So basically, the girl, the female lead, is from a rich, respectable family, and she gets kidnapped one day, but she is saved from the kidnappers by someone called a mountain robber? Mountain thief? Thief from the mountains? (sounds cool in Tamil) and is being held in his abode atop the mountain. Did she really get saved? On one side, investigations are going on, on the other side, kidnappers are preparing for the next strike and, on yet another side, love is brewing.

I wish there were more interactions between the main characters. At one point, he promised to get her what she wanted if she could try to stop being icy and her response: my iciness depends on how you behave. He says she is beautiful and her response: who are you to tell me how I look? He had to win an argument with her just to get her to talk to him with a bit of respect.

I liked the characters, the banter and their forward-thinking. And with a plot that involves robbers, kidnappers and police, it is a fun ride.

I do not know about character dimensions, or depth or plot intricacies, or how realistic it is, but if you want to have a good time without having to engage too much of your brain, I would recommend this. And I would recommend the audiobook with D. Ravishankar’s narration. His different voices for different characters and narration style made the experience more enjoyable and easier to follow.

தமிழ் நாவல்களில் மிகச் சிறந்த நாவல் என்று இதைக் நிச்சயமாகக் கூறலாம் ! 💯

A perfect masala entertainer. It has all the commercial elements required for a blockbuster movie. No doubt this story has even succeeded to win the hearts of the entire nation in multiple languages in the form of a movie.
