How far is too far Beyond the Call of Duty? When a confident helicopter pilot and a Fiery DEA agent are recruited for an undercover drug mission, designed to take down a brutal drug lord, flying bullets weren’t the only things to be worried about. Eric O’Dwyer and agent Nicole Gamboa must infiltrate the inner sanctum of and play to the sexual deviations of the drug lord. Disguised as prostitutes acting out a sexual fantasy, they both deserve Academy Awards for best performances, but were they playing to the audience or was there an unexpected chemical reaction between them?

Eric is a man who doesn’t fall easily, but the exotic Nicole has him taking cold showers in an effort to forget how it felt when they touched. Nicole is a woman in a man’s world, tired of being the object of jokes, crude comments and needs no man. When this mission is over, will they part forever or will Cupid find a way to chisel Nicole’s heart loose from the ice she has encased it in?

Leave it to Tracy Tappan to take a deadly mission and make it darn near Mission Impossible as Eric has a normal reaction to the moves Nicole is putting on him! A few chuckles, a few snickers and then the shooting began. Ms. Tappan can write heart racing scenes, whether they are scenes of passion or deadly gunfights and bombings that must go off at exactly the right time or its end of story, the heroes are dead! Fast-paced, filled with intense detail, good versus evil and that highly charged spark of romance, Beyond the Call of Duty is an edge of your seat tale with action, perfect timing and dialogue that brings it all together. Eric is swoon-worthy, for sure, honorable, brave and willing to die for his friends, his reaction to his new assignment was priceless! Nicole seemed to have an ax to grind with anyone who noticed her body, the one she flaunted with her clothes. I was beginning to think the service was full of breast men! No matter, it is what gives her the edge as a strong woman on a mission.

Once again, Tracy Tappan brings great suspense, heated romance and a great escape to her readers!

4 Star Review of Beyond the Call of Duty: Military Romantic Suspense (Wings of Gold #2) by Tracy Tappan

The hero of this book was introduced in the novella Eightball Two-Three. I wasn’t that keen on him in that book, mainly because he seemed to be an arrogant, cocky jerk, but he grew on me in Beyond the Call of Duty.
Nearly a decade has passed and now, Eric “LZ” O’Dwyer is stationed out of San Diego. He is a senior lieutenant and is in command of his own helicopter detachment. Whilst working on a drug operation in South America, he finds he has to work closely and undercover with DEA agent Nicole Gamboa.

Gone is the arrogant brashness; he is now a confident leader, who has worked hard for the position and respect he has. He has also remained friends with Mikey, one of the pilots from his training days and it was obvious that the trust and camaraderie they shared had grown.

I enjoyed the story lines and particularly liked that we were given the history behind both Eric and Nicole and what caused them to become who they are today. There was plenty of action in this book and I liked how the characters and their relationship were developed.

Eric and Nicole are thrust into dangerous situations and Nicole will have to eventually face her past before she can contemplate a future with Eric.

I also liked how it was Eric that wanted to pursue a relationship and Nicole who was the one holding back. I admired Nicole’s strength and determination to succeed in what is perceived to be a man’s job, however I was put off on occasion by her fixation about her looks.

I hope Mikey gets his own book because I know there is more to him than we have seen so far. He does come across as a bit of a jerk at times, but still I want to learn more about him. This was a great book and I will look forward to reading more in the series as this is a genre I enjoy.

Tracy Tappan definitely brings the fire power along for the ride in her Wings of Gold military romantic suspense series. These books are intensely action-packed, full of sizzling romance, and filled to the hilt with entertaining and admirable heroes and heroines. She adds just enough wit and humorous banter to complete the slate.

This second book in the series did not slack in any area either. A great Navy helo pilot and a DEA agent in a wicked hookup against drug traffickers and mafia bad guys. Whether on the water, in the air, or boots on the ground the action never stopped. Throw in some family angst on both sides, along with a group of comrades at their side, and you'll find yourself wrapped up for a great read.

An exceptional story full of scorching hot romance and pulse-pounding action!

I have never read a hotter, more intense, almost-love scene EVER. As alluded to in the synopsis, Nicole and Eric have to play out an intimate scene as the cover for their real mission. Let me just say that the tension leading up to and the emotions surrounding that scene were just...so...WOW!!!

Tracy DEFINITELY knows how to write a sexy hero! Eric was absolutely perfect, with his good-looks, bravery and vulnerability.

Nicole was very realistic in every way; an independent career-woman who was forced to hide her softer side in order to survive in a male-dominated industry.

The imagery during the action scenes was absolutely phenomenal! I could clearly hear the helicopter blades rotating and feel the wind whipping.

The amount of research Tracy put into this book is absolutely remarkable. While I am no expert, the acronyms and lingo she inserted into the story added a realistic element to it. The unfamiliar words and phrases were accompanied by a convenient hyperlink that takes the reader to a glossary. I loved this, because the definitions weren't awkwardly inserted into the story.

(This book has a "prequel" titled Eightball Two-Three. While I feel this book can be read without reading Eightball, I do recommend reading it before this book!)

All in all, this is one of those books that I stayed up waaaaay too late reading and could not put down because it's THAT good. I couldn't get enough of this book, and I can't wait to read more in this series!!!!!!!

ARC received for an honest review.

I am a fan of military romance books so it is no surprise that I jumped on the opportunity to read Beyond the Call of Duty? This is book two in the Wings of Gold series. I didn’t read book one and I don’t believe I missed anything by jumping into this book first. The story stands on its own merits and, my guess, is the first book adds history but the story starts well after any events from book one. That said, I will go back and read book one when I get a chance because I really like Eric O’Dwyer and crew so any history will be appreciated.

Eric “LZ” O’Dwyer is the head of an unusual mission when his crew teams up with the DEA. The goal is to take down a major drug dealer and to do that he has to work with DEA agent Nicole Gamboa. They need to get into the dealer’s camp so their cover is to go in posing as whores—one male and one female. Yes that definitely will set up some interesting scenarios for these two.

The characters are two very interesting studies of people with pasts that impact the decisions they make in their life. They both want to excel in their careers and that is the foremost goal of each character. Eric’s childhood keeps him closed off from anyone not on his team and even with his men he holds back.

Reading about the camaraderie and trust that members of the military must have with their team is realistic and well developed. The military jargon is appropriate and explained in the glossary for anyone who wants additional information. It took me a couple clicks to realize that the icon at the end of the explanation took me back to where I was reading (I know I’m slow sometimes) and I’m grateful for that.

This is one of those stories that you want to tell all but, at the same time, don’t want to spoil the suspense and unfolding of personalities for the next reader. I love that both Eric and Nicole are strong, focused people. Nicole has a hard time being evaluated for her skills instead of her looks. Because of the innuendo that she advances on her back she builds walls so that men can’t get into her heart.

The support characters add enormously to the story. There are times when I want to know more about them and I suspect this is setting up more books to come in the series. I can’t wait to see what is going to be revealed about them.

I cannot end this review without commenting on the way this story is written. The pace of the book is fast and suspenseful and pulls out a lot of different emotions in the reader. It moves forward in plot and character development in a way that holds the readers’ interest. The story allows us to get in the heads of the characters so completely that I never doubt Eric’s military experience. This is also true of the other characters. I felt their pain, fear, laughter and anxiety. There are sections from Nicole’s point of view that brings her feelings and thoughts front and center and feel valid even if I didn’t completely agree with them.

I recommend putting Beyond the Call of Duty on your TBR list and then reading it as soon as possible. This is a great reading experience for not only people who like military romance but romance and/or suspense in general. Enjoy!

We first met Eric in the novella 'eight ball two three' when he was training as a helicopter pilot and I can't actually say he did anything for me.
In this continuation it us now nine years later and he has certainly grown up. The cocky edge has worn down to masculine confidence and determined hard work has earned him Lieutenant. He's still with his friend Mikey and when you've worked together that long there is understanding and camaraderie. It was lovely reading about their relationship as it was the antithesis of Nicole's with her DEA partner (and boss) Alex.
Eric and Nicole meet when the DEA ask for assistance in an undercover sting on a drug lord. They have to pretend to be high class hookers which is a tad outside the normal remit of job description, especially when the removal of clothes and pretend sex acts are involved. So, how do you come back from that to form a proper relationship? In Nicole's eyes you can't, but that doesn't stop Eric from trying! He's a genuine gentleman and so much more than we were lead to believe in the novella. I loved both back stories, they really highlight why the characters act the way they do. It added a layer of realism to the story and sensitivity. The plot was fast paced and edgy but for me, the growth of the characters and relationships were the highlight. There were some horrific secrets told which were handled well (you need to read the book to understand why I'm not adding that spoiler to my review) and really helped persuade Nicole to take a chance.
Poor Nicole, she was stuck being a one dimensional woman, working in a mans world. She was so used to being seen as a sex symbol and counteracting that misconception that she quashed all of her femininity and felt that she was never seen as an equal. This was exacerbated by Alex and he accepted the problems this has caused her. Ultimately it was the hard mother/daughter confrontation that allows Nicole to accept all sides of her personality and I gave a little cheer at this!
And as for Eric, his family story is really rather messed up....again no details here, I'm not spoiling the story line. Oh, and Mikey. Oh yes, loved that mini plot line too. Just when you think he's a total arse you hear all the reasons he's not. I wonder if he will get his own book or will be a behind the scenes plot in each book. Whichever way, I'm hanging out to read more.
After the last few years of predominantly reading paranormal romance (including Tracy Tappans incredible The Community series which I can't recommend highly enough) this book made a nice change of pace and certainly one to be added to your TBR pile.

I received this ARC from the author and although she hasn't asked for a review, I just felt the need to write one. Comes out 25th September and I recommend you snap it up.

(I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review).

(This review may contain spoilers).

I really enjoyed being able to read a different genre of book from an author whose work I particularly like. While I wouldn’t necessarily go out and buy books in the military romance genre, I did quite enjoy reading this book.

I did get a bit confused at the beginning, where the book shifted back in time without me really expecting it to.

I did like both Eric and Nicole as characters, even though I thought their relationship did move a bit too fast. It was nice to have the opportunity to learn about both of their histories and family. I thought they both came across as interesting and well-rounded characters.

I did think that Nicole was a bit too hung-up on her own appearance. If it was mostly in her head, it made her come across as quite self-centred. If it did actually happen… I’m not sure I liked the implications of every guy finding her attractive. Though I did think Ryan came across as a bit of a jerk at times.

I like Kyle… Mikey… Hammond… I’m not sure which of those names actually belonged to him. But I did find him an interesting character, despite the fact he came across as a jerk some of the time. I thought his relationship with his ex-girlfriend added a new dimension to his character… and I found myself really caring about him when he ended up having to fight for his life.

I did think that the story was a little disjointed at times and it was difficult to follow everything that happened. I also would have liked to see a bit more of the minor characters and their relationships to the main ones.

I liked the fact that Nicole did come across as a strong female character, even though she felt men only saw that she was attractive. I also thought it was interesting to see the way she and Eric had to work together and the problems that kind of undercover work raised for both of them.

I was glad to see that there was a lot of terminology used and I’d like to read Mikey’s book in the future. This was quick and easy to read and I did very much enjoy this book. I definitely hope to read more books by this author in the future.

Multi POV, written in third person by Tracy Tappan, and narrated soley by Jeffrey Kaveri (both author and narrator are new to me), and I was impressed by both. Eric “LZ” O’Dwyer, is a helicopter pilot deployed off the coast of South America who ends up joining forces with DEA Agent Nicole Gamboa to bring down a ruthless drug lord. This enemies to lovers, action romance has lots of twists and turns. It took me a while to get into the story, but once I cottoned on to who was who, and what their mission operative was, I was all in. I loved all the secrets and all the suspense that came with the story and characters. The whole story ultimately revolves around Nicole and LZ trying to get one step ahead of Cortez and his men, all whilst trying to deny their attraction to each other. I’ve got to say the narration was spot on, Jeffrey Kaveri pulled off narrating all characters perfectly and made the whole experience highly enjoyable. I’ll definitely be looking into more books by this author and with this narrator.

Beyond the Call of Duty is a heart racing story of drug dealers, dangerous missions, and a romance that blooms in the middle of the chaos. This story is about two people who are different yet the same. I love how this book gives us a romance that seems very tangible in the story but there is SO much more than romance in this book. There is a thrilling ride that will take you deep into places full of suspense and intrigue, making you feel like you are watching this story unfold in a cinematic experience.

There is an authenticity to this story that is often missed in other military books. I appreciated the reality that crashes into this story but I did have some trouble figuring out some of the lingo. There is a glossary in the back of the book to refer to but reading on my kindle made it hard to go back and forth. Luckily, the lingo that is unknown doesn’t detract from the story but just goes to show that this is real. Most things I wasn’t sure about where explained through a situation or an obvious conclusion could be drawn.

Within this story there are A LOT of things happening. There is never a dull moment. You have to focus on what is happening to make sure you see the big picture. There is the DEA operation happening. Helicopter flight missions are taking place. Bad guys are popping out and causing mayhem. Emotions rise to the surface and feelings are developed. There is never a down moment within this book. It spans the course of many months, allowing the reader to absorb what is happening at a steady rate.

I appreciated the romance between Eric and Nicole. These are two characters so entrenched in their lives and professions that they almost miss what could be. The more the readers learn about who they are and why they view life the way they do, hesitation makes sense. Nicole is on badass and I loved watching her learn to let go and embrace every part of who she is, not just the DEA agent trying to prove herself. Eric learns to feel again and these two are an explosive match, one that has the potential to bring healing or destruction.

If you love high action stories that are more than just a romance, make sure to give this book a try. It is filled with ups and downs, adrenaline laced situations, and a romance that is passionate yet subtle. I will definitely be looking for more from Tracy and hopefully seeing more of Eric and Nicole as they live their lives.

Just…. WOW!

I had planned to read this book on my morning off - and I did - but I kept reading at work and got no work done.

This book is a stand alone book, however, I did read the prequel (Eightball Two-Three) right before I started reading Beyond the Call of Duty.

I was caught up in the story and was unable to put the book down. The story went at a brisk pace and I was never bored with the amount of details given. There was no over thinking or repeating of thoughts in this story, which I was grateful for.

There is a glossary of terms at the end of the book for all of the acronyms that are encountered throughout. However, I didn't hit the links to read the definitions, because when my kindle routed me, there was no way for me to go back to my spot in the book. It's not the fault of the author… it's a lapse in the kindle system. That said, I have to say that I was able to proceed with the story and get the gist of the acronyms without interrupting the flow of the story.

It was nice to examine the different acronyms afterward. The acronyms aren't overwhelming, which is why I was able to keep continuous understanding… and the author did put a disclaimer in the beginning that it's impossible to be accurate without adding some of the acronyms.

I was happy with the small amount of Spanish in the book. It is always translated, so that the reader knows what is being said. However, I always find a lot of errors in the Spanish written by others because it's not researched properly. I was really impressed that the time was taken to consult someone and make sure that the language was properly spoken.

The part that impressed me about this book is that I found myself (on more than one occasion) saying "oh $h*t!" at the end of a chapter. I have read so many books and genres in the last year that it is difficult to get that reaction from me at the end of one chapter… let alone the multiple chapters that I found myself saying that after in this book.

This book was well researched and written. Sometimes I get the feeling that a book is being slapped together for the sake of a deadline, not so with Tracy Tappan. It was a true pleasure to read it and can't wait to read the rest in the series.

Disclaimer: I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I had the awesome honor to be able to read Tracy Tappan’s latest novel before its release and I can honestly say it was just as wonderful as her paranormal series. This new series is a Military Romantic Suspense, and it is just as gripping as the Community Series.
Beyond the Call of Duty is the story of Naval Helicopter pilot Eric O’Dwyer and DEA Agent Nicole Gamboa. These two are thrown together in a joint operation to catch a notorious Colombian drug lord, but the details of their undercover operation is a bit unorthodox. They must pretend to be prostitutes brought in to satisfy the drug lord’s rather odd sexual preferences. The idea being that other members of their team will cause a distraction long before things can get hot and heavy. So naturally everything goes wrong and things do go much farther than anyone ever intended, leaving our two main characters with a strong attraction neither one ever wanted or needed. The rest of the story deals with their growing attraction to the other while dealing with the demons that haunt them from both their past and the failed operation that both are still determined to see is done right.
I loved the chemistry between the two characters and while it takes some time to learn more of their pasts, I absolutely loved the slow buildup that leads to the ultimate fireworks that you are hoping and praying for. Ms. Tappan doesn’t disappoint, the fireworks between these characters is everything I hoped for!
There is also a good introduction to the hero of the next book in this series, Kyle Hammond. There is a lot of military jargon involved in this book but she does a good job of using footnotes that allow you to get the explanation but doesn’t take away from the story for anyone who is already familiar with some these terms and doesn’t need that explanation.
Beyond the Call of Duty released TODAY and the best part is the eBook is on 99 pennies. There is also a prequel novella that is free! So move fast and snap this book up, you won’t be disappointed!

Wowza! I'm very much in love with what Tappan did with this series. After reading the first installment I was a bit hesitant if I wanted to continue reading; however I thought well, she's an amazing author given what I know of her paranormal books and of what I did like of the first one so I decided to give Beyond the Call of Duty a try and man, was I ever happy I did!
I'm not much for Special-Ops or military stories and I only have 2 other authors that are automatic buys as far as those 2 genres go and now Tracy Tappan has given me the opportunity of adding her to that list with this story. We know DEA Agent Nicole Gamboa and the agency enlist senior lieutenant Eric O'Dwyer in a special op to bring down a drug lord. During the operation, they both realize they are attracted to each other and yet Nicole is afraid to accept that attraction for fear of just a broken heart. There is much more to them than meets the eye.
I was able to see why he was so adamant to pursue her and why she was so hesitant to deny their attraction. It wasn't insta-love but there was definitely some feelings and not just lust; I'd say she managed the romance as good as expected and as good as the story/heroine's feelings allowed her. On a secondary note, it's kind of hard for me to fully enjoy a Latina heroine because they tend to be whiny, theatrical, or stereotypical, but in this instance I actually liked her a lot. Perhaps it was the kiss-a$$ factor that made me go "No wonder Eric can't stop thinking about her!" ;) Yep, she was a tough cookie.
Tracy throws some pretty good twist with the main couple as well as the secondary characters. She gave them all a pretty loud voice of their own that kept me engaged from beginning to end. Never again will I doubt Tracy's writing and I will definitely will continue this series.

I was given this book by the author as an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) for an honest review.
Having read previous works by Tracy Tappan I was intrigued by the storyline as this is a complete change of genre for me, usually reading historic and paranormal novels.
The book starts off with a military edge with lots of terminology, which I have to admit I found interesting. The lead male character Lieutenant Eric “LZ” O’Dwyer, I found quite refreshing. He's smart, gorgeous and oozes manliness but he's not the usual male lead. Gone is the cocky, you will drop your knickers with one look, I am God type of man but someone who knows he has faults and does the very best he can.
The female lead, DEA Special Agent Nicole Gamboa, is a woman with a chip on her shoulder, and for good reason. She's got looks to die for and a bite that would make a Rattle snake proud. She's no mans damsel in distress, every mans fantasy but won't let anyone close enough to get passed her walls. A past that she's tried to leave behind her and dreads the thought of anyone dredging up.
The two leads meet whilst about to embark on a highly dangerous mission that neither of them are fully prepared for. The sexual tension between the two displays itself as anger towards each other and misunderstandings. However during said mission the see sides to each other that neither of them thought excited, which gave them each a better understanding of each other.
I also liked how the plot also included secondary characters which I got to see in a very different light as to what you initially think of them, the most notable being Lieutenant Kyle “Mikey” Hammond, to me, I felt this made the plot the better for doing so.
Not my usual genre but if you're into military men then you'll love this book, extremely well written and a page turner for definite

Beyond the Call of Duty is an interesting book with an intense plot. The characters are likeable and realistic enough in their mannerisms and thought patterns and some of the things that they think and do are quite amusing, especially in situations where a little levity is helpful. Tappan definitely seems to have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the military and I became immersed in the operations that Eric and Nicole were involved in.

Eric seemed like a really great guy, someone who was pretty comfortable in his own skin despite a less than ideal upbringing. He does tend to shut off his emotions and just get things done but when Nicole enters the picture he isn't able to hold onto his rigid control.

Nicole is a very strong woman used to going it alone. She also has a lot of baggage from her childhood and has a chip on her shoulder. Despite some major chemistry between her and Eric, she does her best to keep him at a distance, something she does with everyone in her life.

While Nicole and Eric do have great chemistry, I don't think this was exploited enough in the book and I didn't get how the two could decide that they were in love when they had spent little time together. I felt like their relationship took second fiddle to the drug-running plot and I am one for the romance being front and centre.

All in all, an engaging book!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review over on my blog (Pretty Little Book Blog)

This book is adventurous, pulse pounding, a thrill ride for the sense with Tracy's descriptive writing style. Even though this is the second book in the series and the first book of Tracy's that I've read its a complete standout standalone!

The main characters have this crazy chemistry and we see it in the opening pages, it's aggressive there is no easily falling in love and holding hands it's just boom! In your face kind of chemistry. It's not if they will end up hooking up but it's just when.

Not to say this story is all fun and games there are some serious issues tackled such as sexual harassment in the workplace and how there is a double standard for females in a typically male driven environment. That dynamic is explored and dealt with in a realistic manner as well as Tracy's attention to military jargon that is specific to each branch. It makes for that added note of realism that makes it easy to get lost in the story. Isn't it funny how that works we like the story to have realistic elements so we can get lost in a work of fiction? One of those things that make you go hmm. . . .
This was a awesome read from start to finish I thought and I will definitely be keeping Tracy on my authors to watch list and picking up some of her other books!

I received a free advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

I had pre-ordered The book and was super excited to read Tracy's full-length story in her Wings of Gold series. I had previously read the author's The Community series and love her action-packed, quick moving and strong plot line stories.

I really enjoyed this story. The plot line was intense as it follows Eric and Nicole on a joint undercover op. The op doesn't go as planned and both characters are affected. The screen where they have to get naked and fake having sex in front of a drug lord for his perverted pleasure is unbelievably good, emotional and intense.

Both lead characters were flawed people trying to live their life, and as the story builds and they start to change and their relationship grows out of their interactions and overtime. I loved that you got to know each of the characters inner thoughts and battles as their feeling grew.

Their story continues into additional books, so be prepared for a satisfying stopping point that lets you catch your breathe until you get your hands on Day of Reckoning, which is a novella that continues the story. I couldn't wait to read it and was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of it too.

In Beyond the Call of Duty by Tracy Tappan, we get blessed with everything. There is the hot Navy pilot, sexy DEA agent, drugs, covert operations and sex so hot I almost starting smoking again. Special Agent Nicole Gambia could easily pass for a swimsuit model but she feels like she has to achieve more. Her family has left her paying their debt. Lt. Eric O'Dwyer is also struggling to break free from the shackles of his family. Both believe that above and beyond is the very least they can do. On top of both being perfectionists and gorgeous they also want to concentrate on the job and try to ignore the chemistry between them. Thrown together to bring down a drug cartel kingpin they do wind up doing their country proud. This is a gripping read that barrels along at such a tremendous pace that it is hard to put down. The characters and story are both so well developed that we are instantly immersed in their world. The Devil rates this a 4.0 pitchforks read.

I enjoyed this book a lot. I have always been fascinated by the military and this book give a small glimpse into the Navy without it being a Navy handbook of regulations.

The story flowed decently well, with my only complaint being I wish the explanations were footnotes on the bottom of the page, rather than at the end of the book, which is not convenient with an E-reader. I enjoyed the characters, whom were more than the stereotypical one dimensional one so common in romance. It was a bit jarring reading from the point of view of three characters, rather then two (or even one). However, it did not disturb my enjoyment of the story at all. I love reading about tough people that aren't as bulletproof as they seem, who are flawed and an imperfect as the rest of us are. Tracy Tappan's characters are always more than they seem, which I adore about her. She is not afraid to let a woman be tough or a man in need of rescue.

In short, if you enjoy romance, military, suspense and action, you will enjoy this book immensely.

Beyond the Call of Duty Military Romantic Suspense (Wings of Gold Book 2) by Tracy Tappan One of my PNR author friends recommended Tracy Tappan's books to me, and I'm glad she did. Beyond the Call of Duty was my first read of Tracy's work, and I was thoroughly entertained. The tension between the characters, an Air Force helicopter pilot Eric and a DEA agent Nicole, created lots of excitement. What secrets did they have? Would the truth bring them together or pull them apart? When you add the bad boys, the drug lords, to the mix, it makes for on exciting, adventurous plot. Will the heroes shut down the drug lords? You really must read this book to find out. With the developing romancing wrapping itself around the various plot twists, this book is an easy, enjoyable read. Very relaxing!!!

was lucky enough to get an advanced ARC copy of Beyond The Call Of Duty... I have read all of Tracy Tappan's Paranormal books in her Community Series and I have to say... She is a multi faceted, multi talented and just an all around superb author. She makes the leap from Paranormal Romance to her new Suspenseful Military Series with complete ease and execution. We get , sexy pilots, kick ass female DEA agents, drug lords, shoot' em up action, hilarious one liner humor, suspense and oh sooooo very smokin' chemistry between the two main characters Eric and Nicole! The book flowed perfectly, and I found it easy to understand all the military lingo due to her genius glossary that is conveniently placed throughout the kindle version right after the word!!!! I promise you.......this book does NOT disappoint!

I love a good suspense novel. I love the Navy. I love a woman who can kick serious ass. This book has all of the above. Add in a real standup guy and some seriously hot sex and I am hooked!!!

I enjoyed the whole combination. The fight scenes were great, the danger and suspense kept me turning pages, and the sex was fantastic!!! The characters were all well written and interesting, even the smaller parts. I really had a great time reading this one!!

As an independent reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors that Rock I give this author a full four fangs for her fantastic weaving of storylines and steamy sex scenes.

If you are looking for a fast paced, full of action and steamy romance, this book is for you!!
The story its excellent written, with amazing action scenes and a hot romance, full of suspense, sexual tension and intense characters. Nicole it's not your average Heroine, she's a badass, strong and independent but she can't resist our charming Hero, Eric. Oh! Eric, he's amazing! A warrior with a heart of gold.
I enjoyed this steamy romance with a military background, it's obvious that the Author knows what she is talking about.
Highly Recommended!!

A great continuation to Eight Ball Two Three

Eric and Nicole are put together by a combo task force between the DEA and the U.S. Navy. They are both sent to Columbia to take down drug kingpin who has a strange fetish when it comes to sex.

Both deny their feelings towards each other because of their childhood. Eric is the son of a billionaire and Nicole has a secret of her own which is a shocker in itself. All in all a good second book of the series with a hope there will be a third featuring Mikey.

High octane read that will leave you breathless. Beyond the Call of Duty is real and gritty and oh so good. LZ is sweet and serious. Nicole just wants to be judged for what she can do not what she looks like. If you pick it up you won’t be able to put it down.

this is not the normal genre I tend to read but I adore Mrs Tappan as a story teller so I most definitely had to give this book chance, and was SO WORTHY of praise. The camaraderie between the pilots and the character development felt so lifelike. I very much enjoyed reading this, and for sure a must read for any and all military, suspense lovers!
