When we crashed on an ice world, my master drank my blood so he couldr survive, leaving me near death.

Rescued by a fierce Aerilon Fae warrior, he tells me that I am his fated one--his Al'essa.

He and his people are stranded here too and surrounded by enemies.

He's fiercely protective of me, and I cannot deny the pull I feel toward him.

The more time we spend together, I can't help but wonder: what would it be like if I allowed myself to fall for him?

I feel like the series is going downhill as each book has the exact same plot and almost the exact same conversations, actions and reactions.

The third book in this series, it tells of devastating loss, danger, fated mates, love and a happy ever after. Stuck on an icy cold planet and kept hostage by the A’kai Violet and and Elain manage to escape. The A’kai follow and both are injured, Elain knowing she won’t survive tells Violet to run. She gets trapped between an A’kai and a river at the bottom of a very steep cliff, knowing she won’t survive she decides to do the unthinkable and jumps, as she does an Aerilon male tries to save her. At the last second he gets hold of her but they both go crashing into the water and are hurt. The Aerilon whose name is Al’iro tells Violet he will not harm her and that he will take her back to the ship they are staying in. He realises then that she is his Al’essa, his fated mate. His wings are damaged maybe even beyond repair so he is unable to fly back to their ship. What follows is a dangerous journey filled with being attacked by the A’kai more than once, being saved and hiding with the Lycaons but also getting closer and closer as the bond between then gets stronger. When they finally make it to the ship they are both unconscious and severely injured to the point they don’t think Violet will make it. When she wakes it’s to find Al’iro’s wings glowing for her and they get married soon after. While staying at a pod after their mating flight the Lycaon alpha Luken turns up with Elain, she’s not dead but they have both been bitten and poisoned by the A’kai and need medical treatment straight away.

The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was clean, with no typos that I found and well constructed sentences. The world building was vivid, with the flora and fauna of this wintry world coming to life. The characterization was competent, with both hero and heroine being sympathetic individuals if not especially nuanced. The development of the romantic relationship was sweet and romantic. This novel had a heat level of two chili peppers, because it was quite a slow burn. The plot was action filled and exciting. As a consequence, the pacing flew by. There was a medium low to medium amount of angst that I had to suffer through, but there were also high stakes throughout, which I enjoyed. This novel used the Damsel in Distress trope and the Fated Mates trope. The world building, plot, and pacing were all four stars. The development of the romantic relationship was also four stars. The characterization was three stars. I therefore rounded up and gave this novel a combined rating of four stars. This novel ended on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger ending, so that was a big plus. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy a sweet slow burn romance and vivid world building in their sci-fi romances. I look forward to reading the next book in this series when it releases. I will probably buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

Violet and her friend were trying to escape from the alien A'kai, a vampire like race. Her friend was badly injured and Violet had to leave her behind. When the A'kai has her trapped on the edge of a cliff, Violet decide she would rather die than go back and jumps. Luckily an Aerilon flies in and tries to break her fall. She survives but Al'iro the Aerilon has badly injured his wings. Violet had lost her communicator in the fall so she doesn't understand anything Al'iro says to her. Al'iro does treat her kindly and is very protective so she decides to stay with the Far prince looking alien.

Al'iro and his people have been searching for more humans to rescue and was very shocked to find Violet. He will do anything he can to save and protect a women in need. However the more time he spends with Violet, the more he starts to think they are fated mates. Usually when a Aerilon meets their fated mate, their wings glow but Al'iro's wings have.t glowed yet even though he can feel her emotions. Maybe his wing injuries is keeping them from glowing. Without his wings, he and Violet will have a long and dangerous walk back to the safe zone

I really love this series and was really looking forward to this new installment. It starts off with action right at the beginning with heroine Violet running to escape her alien captors, the A'kai. She is rescued by Aerilon hero Al'iro, who ends up injured in the process. They spend the whole book trying to make their way back to the safety of his people, all while injured, fleeing the A'kai, battling the harsh winter elements and predators, and tense dealings with a neighboring race. The relationship was practically instalove, that they acknowledged but then took their time with. Throughout their journey, Violet and Al'iro still grow close with their shared experiences.

I enjoyed their interactions with the Lycaon the most. Both distrustful of the other due to the history between their peoples, and I wanted so badly for them to have an alliance. I'm very excited the next book will focus on a love story between the heroine and Lycaon alpha.

There were a few grammar issues, but nothing major. There were a few chapters (sub chapters?) that ended kind of abruptly and that threw me off as I expected more to them.

A very good read. I recommend picking this one up. 4 stars.

Violet and Al'iro's Story . . .

Violet and her friend Elain ran from their A'kai captors, vampire-type aliens who fed off the blood of the humans. As they ran, Elain was injured and could no longer continue, but urged Violet to keep going and try to get away. Violet is forced to stop at the edge of a cliff, and she chooses death rather than be captured again by the A’kai.

As she jumps, a Fae-like Aerilon grabs her in the air and they both plunge into the water. Al'iro managed to break her fall to save her, but his wings are damaged. The two of them have a very dangerous journey to make as he tries to lead her back to safety with his people. As they spend time together, depending on each other for survival against the many creatures that roam the planet, he begins to feel she could be his Al’essa, his fated mate, especially as he can sense her emotions now. However, his wings would normally glow if Violet was his mate. Could the injury be preventing that from happening? Will he get her safely back to his people?

Voilet and her friend Elain are trying to escape their A'kai captors when Elain falls and can no longer run. She pleads with Violet to escape while she can and heartbroken Voilet does as she is asked. When she can run no further because of a waterfall she finds she has been cornered by the A'kai and chooses death over returning to be a slave for them. As she plunges over the cliff a pair of purple arms catch her. Al'iro sees the terran jump from the cliff and tries to catch her. He reaches her just before crashing into the water damaging his wings. He believes he has found his one but with damaged wings how can they glow to prove this? Unknown to them they have a huge struggle to get themselves both to safety and heal. Will they be able to make it?
I adore this world and all the characters within it (apart from the A'kai, obviously). This is one of my absolute favourite authors. She just makes these stories so magical that you cannot but be enthralled by them.

This is quite a bit different than what I normally read but I really enjoyed it. I normally don't read much fantasy romance because I find the fantasy world building distracts from the romance for me, and I prefer to focus on the romance as the main part of the story. The author did such a good job with tying the two together though that I actually read every bit of it, and enjoyed it. The species names are creative and beautiful, and well described. The romance is tender yet there are still some hot scenes. Not as detailed as I'm used to, and this was also a shorter read than I usually pick, but it wasn't a problem because it was well done. I only saw one or two spelling/grammar errors in the whole book, which is a big deal to me. The story and characters were well crafted and I really can't think of a single complaint about this book.

Loved it!!

Loving this ice world series! A cold and unforgiving world full of dangerous creatures from earth’s myths, legends and fairy tails! A new ship full of vile(vampire) aliens with a bunch of human/Terran captives crashes onto the planet. One by one the humans are rounded up (by the dragons, werewolves and fae)and rescued from their blood sucking captors and claimed as mates by the several species of enemy aliens that are trapped (previously crashed due to a nearby unstable wormhole) on this ice planet. Each keep to themselves, but the Terran females are slowly forcing them to work together to find all their friends and then to combine resources to get them all off of this cold icy planet!

gentle mate

Her winged mate was a good change of pace. Not a super alpha male like many authors write about. Frankly I prefer a mix of sensitivity and strength of character in a male character. Not fond of the caveman like male gender type characters.
Violet was a good character but lacked a little of depth. Probably because most of story she was hurt or portrayed as weak, like the others in series.
Would like author to have a kick ass human woman. No way would there not be one in space exploration teams. Also a scientist that can make some of the vampires change. Either violently explode or have scents they hate.

Jessica has captured my interest with this book as it is the first book I have read by her, I may read the others now. I thought the story line was good but the characters are absolutely lovely you just can not help but fall in love with them. They drag you in to their story and you forget everything around you until the book is finished. Well worth reading. If you have never tried Jessica Grayson's books before this is a great starter for you. Highly recommended for all.

Thoroughly enjoyed this tale. Having really enjoyed the previous book, I pre-ordered this before the ARC opportunity arose. This book is about Violet and Al'iro. Violet is another who was used for her blood by the vampire alien race, the A'kai. Thankfully her friends from the previous book and their rescuers are very protective. Despite not being able to communicate, Al'iro is just as protective. This was just as good as the earlier stories and I look forward to reading more. Especially the werewolf alien rescue of another from the crashed ship mentioned in book 2.

This is one was different than the previous books because we have a fae alien healer as the hero.
I enjoyed seeing the Lycaon pack interacting and participating more. I hope we'll be seeing the other wolves getting their mates.
I liked the fae bonding ceremony they had with their friends at the end, it gave it a special touch compared to the other couples.

Plot: 3/5
Romance: 3/5
Fluff: 3/5
Angst: 2/5
Hea: Yes.

Harrowing Escape

This story features escape after escape for Violet and Al’iro, all while they fall in love with one another. I found this story gripping and enchanting; Violet frequently refers to Al’iro as her Fae Prince, which I found to be be such a sweet and accurate descriptor. This series continues to get more exciting with every book.

Tense action, growing love and close death

The brave escaped human female, and the Alien Dr who Damages his wings to save her, follow their journey. Over mountains, ice cold rivers, sheltering in caves and a disabled spaceship, while being hunter by blood thirsty vampires.
It will hold your attention.

I really love this series. I have added Jessica Grayson's entire backlist to my TBR pile. I especially enjoyed reading book 3 of the Ice World Warriors after I had finished Trace the Sky. It was a treat to see Al'iro's story after hearing about him.
