Being a single mom is not how I envisioned life would turn out. But after my happily ever after ended way too soon, I’m doing my best and taking each day as it comes. Life is full of surprises, though, both good and bad... like Marshall Riggins coming to my rescue in the pharmacy line.
The gorgeous Riggins brother has a heart of gold and looks mighty fine as a knight in shining armor, but I don’t need a handout nor the distraction. Too bad my heart doesn’t get the memo.
Suddenly he’s everywhere I am. With his stubborn smile and dark blue eyes, he sees way more than I wish he would. He looks beyond the broken fragments of my being and still wants me. I can’t help but think maybe he’s my second chance at a happy ending.
Marshall
After watching my brothers find their magic and settling down, it’s time to admit I want what they have. It’s not just about the passion but the soul connection. The beautiful blonde fumbling through her purse in front of me in line doesn’t just catch my attention. She steals my heart.
Wren Wheeler is as stubborn as the day is long. The gorgeous single mom doesn’t want to accept my help... or my friendship. But her adorable baby girl doesn’t agree. In fact, she loves me. And the longer I spend with both of them, I know walking away isn’t an option.
She’s afraid of having her heart broken again, but I’m not going anywhere. I’ve slowly fallen for Wren. And beat by beat, I think she’s falling too.

GOOD HEAVENS!!! I LOVE this series so much and I am not ready for it to be over 😭❤️!! The Riggins brothers and their entire family have found a place in my heart forever. This is one of the best series I have ever read!!
This is the fifth (last) book in the series and is Marshall and Wren's story. Marshall is the youngest brother who is charming and caring and has a heart of gold. He begins to think that he might not ever feel the “magic" his father and brothers talk about until a fate encounter with Wren. Wren is your strong and independent single parent with a heartbreaking story. She is just trying to survive and provide for her little girl, Maddie. Their love story was beautiful and the connection he had with her daughter was so touching. I could not have asked for a better ending. The epilogue was so perfect!!
I wholeheartedly recommend this entire series!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
⭐️ 5 "Baby Girl" Stars ⭐️ Since the start of the Riggins Brothers Series, I’ve been charmed by these men one by one. I couldn’t wait to see how the baby of the family, Marshall, would find his magic. Beat By Beat had me absolutely enamored. The romance was really sweet and gorgeous, with a splash of steam and humor.
Marshall Riggins. Awwww! Seriously, that man had me melting from his magnetic appeal and heart of gold. I was swooning all read long from his devotion and thoughtfulness toward his girls, Wren and Madeline. Yes, he falls in love with not only one but two girls. Wren is a single mom trying to provide in the best ways for her daughter, Maddie. I appreciated her resilience so much and the fact that even if Marshall and his family want to give her the easy way by trying to help take care of her baby girl, she’s fierce in her independence. She’s so well incorporated in the family, right from the start, it was truly endearing. I enjoyed that the romance between Marshall and Wren evolved from friendship to so much more. Marshall and baby Maddie were just so adorable!
As it was the case with the previous books, the dynamic between the Riggins brothers and their parents and ladies was amazing. The teasing and support is one of the thing that I loved the best about this family. Beat By Beat was the perfect conclusion to the Riggins Brothers Series. I’m really sad that the series is now over and I’ll miss this fictional family so much! Make sure to read this series, you won’t be disappointed.
** ARC received in exchange for an honest review **
I’m not ready to say goodbye! The Riggins Brothers series has been my favorite ever series from my go-to swoony magic maker, Kaylee Ryan. Sweet, sincere, swoony, and sexy- this series is epically romantic and unforgettable. This series has captured everything that is magic about romance- and I want to stay with the Riggins brothers forever.
But, as much as I’m not ready to say goodbye, I was so excited for Marshall to have his own happy ending. And baby brother Riggins was everything I wanted him to be- charming, playful, funny, devoted, kind, and OH SO DREAMY. While his story is the final in the series, it’s the most low key and lowest drama. Marshall has taken the longest to find his magic, and even in his love story, he doesn't initially recognize that it’s there. And I actually really liked that- it felt really relatable and authentic. He was enamoured with Wren and her little girl, but it took a minute for it to really click that he’d found his magic.
Marshall and Wren are adorable together. I loved how independent and thoughtful Wren is- how gentle and loving. And Marshall woo’ed the pants of her (literally and metaphorically). Their story is endearing and sweet, and I loved watching Marshall also fall in love with Wren’s little girl and their heart melting connection. SWOOOON- just so touching. Their romance is so heartwarming- just like this entire series.
The finale is chock full of our favorite characters and some exciting developments- and I just LOVED seeing all of our couples all together with their growing brood. It was a sweet and bittersweet farewell- but alas, every Riggins has his HEA and growing family, and I could not love them any more!
0.5 stars Definitely not for me! Far too many things that I didn’t like: - sexualisation of breastfeeding (why did it even need to be talked about so much?) - refusing to give the baby back to mama every time she asked. Even in the world of fiction this is a big no no for me. - far too sickly sweet
Dramatic much? Man, that blowup that Wren had at the end of the book was over-the-top drama queen hysterics. She acted like Marshall lied about something that was a life altering instead of him just trying to do something to help her financially. Sure, he lied, but it was from a place of love and kindness, not anything bad. I liked the book pretty much until that point, but Wren's theatrics and stubbornness ruined it a bit for me. She was incredibly prideful and stubborn for most of the book. If you can overlook that 'I'm grown and can take care of myself even if it means I don't eat' mentality, then the book is pretty good.
I loved Marshall. He was always charming and a flirt in previous books, but he was adorable and sweet in this book. I liked that he didn't immediately fall in love with Wren like some of his brothers did with their 'magic' women. He liked Wren and he had a big heart and wanted to help her, but it took a little while for him to start seeing her as his magic. The way he treated little Maddie, Wren's daughter, was swoon-worthy. Be still my heart. I couldn't get enough of their cuteness and interactions together. He definitely won me over with how he treated Maddie who wasn't even his own flesh and blood.
I loved the epilogue since it finalized the Riggins Brothers series and provided us with updates on all the families. To summarize, they all had a bunch of kids and lived happily ever after lol.
This book was unbelievably corny! But I didn't hate it, and it definitely kept my attention!
“This is me telling you that I love you. I love your daughter. This is me telling you that I’ve found my magic.”

Marshall was an absolute cheese ball. But he loved Wren and her daughter, Madeline, so much, and he was so sweet with them.
"I’ll love both of you for both of us, I never met Travis,” he says, “but I don’t need to for me to know that he was a good man. He earned your trust and your love, and that tells me all that I need to know about him. I’m sorry you and Maddie lost him. I hate that for both of you, but if you’ll let me, I’ll love you both, for both of us.”
Wren was kind of annoying at times. I get that she was dealing with a lot of pain, but she was really oblivious to Marshall's not so subtle, passes he made at her. 🤣
I always love reading found family books or books with large families. Now I feel like I have to go back and read the books I missed in the series!
This book was a feel-good book. It definitely pulls at your heart strings, but in a good way because you know Marshall is going to take good care of Wren and Madeline.

YES! YES!! YES!! Kaylee Ryan saved the best for last!
I’m telling you, these Riggins Brothers put the swoon in swoony! These men will go to no lengths to keep their women happy and their children protected. Whew.. Kaylee Ryan wrote the hell out of this series. I definitely see myself coming back and rereading the books I read and binging on the books I haven’t yet read.
In My Own Words:
Marshall Riggins is the youngest of the Riggins clan. He sat for years and watched his brother’s find the infamous magic Stanley Riggins, their father, talked endlessly about when they were younger. Now as Marshall sees his older brother’s in love with their perfect match and babies galore, he is starting to question whether there is something to the tales his father shared in their younger years.
When Marshall sees single mother, Wren, at the pharmacy down the road, he offers a helping hand and pays for her five month old daughter’s prescription. His only recommendation is that she pay it forward one day. If she should ever see someone struggling and in need of a kind heart and a helping hand. Little did Marshall know, he just ran smack dab into his very own form of his father’s so-called magic.
My Thoughts:
I can’t get over how much Marshall and Wren’s story made me feel. So many emotions were pulled out of my heart throughout this novel. As I said above, Kaylee Ryan definitely saved the best for last! There were so many moments that had me swoony and a couple moments that had me clutching a tissue tight in my hand. I’m literally sitting here with a huge smile on my face. I’m a sucker for the sweet moments! I couldn’t put this one down.
Marshall Riggins is the most kind hearted of all the brothers. If he sees someone in need he’s there with a helping hand or a way to put a smile on any face. I’m a sucker for the sweet and sensitive type hero, so to say I’ve been eagerly awaiting Marshall’s story is a huge understatement. This man damn near brought me to my knees. The immediate connection he felt, not only with Wren, but also her five month old daughter Madeline had me constantly fighting back tears. I loved those special moments between Madeline and Marshall. He was the daddy sent directly from Madeline’s very own guardian angel, there is no denying that fact.
Wren is a warrior for all that she’s been through in the past year. I’m not going to get into all of that due to spoilers. But through all that, it’s made her an amazing mother. Her only issue is she never sets aside time for herself. Her life revolves around her daughter. Until fate interveins and she meets a handsome stranger at the pharmacy who offers to help her out of a pinch and pays for her daughter's medication. Never in her wildest dreams would she ever think the handsome stranger would be the one her heart and soul cry out for. My heart damn near flew from my chest the closer Marshall and Wren became. I’m talking serious tears!! I couldn’t control my emotions, those bitches were flying all over the place.
One factor of why I loved this book so much was the strong family bond. I’m a sucker for novels with small town feels and strong family ties. I loved the Riggins clan. From their playful banter to their heartfelt talks, this family has everything! And the fact they welcomed Wren and Madeline, two complete strangers, into their group with open arms really spoke to me about their character. This family is the exact reasoning behind why I love this series so much!
There was only one reason behind why I dropped half a star rating, there was a moment in this novel I felt Wren's character was a bit too wishy washy for my liking, which caused a moment to drag on for a second or two. But aside from that single moment I loved everything else about this Marshall, Wren, and little Madeline's story!
If you haven’t read Beat by Beat by Kaylee Ryan and you love strong families, single mothers, and swoony heroes in your romance I highly suggest you pick up this book! Hell, if you love strong families, swoony heroes, and feisty heroines, pick up the Riggins Brothers series.
Talk about a bittersweet ending to a group of brothers! Kaylee Ryan knocked it out of the park in the sweet, swoony, achingly romantic final installment in her Riggins Brothers series. It was a little bittersweet to finish this book for me. It was amazing to see Marshall finally get his happy ending. Marshall and Wren’s story is simply beautiful, uplifting, touching, sexy and emotional. Kaylee Ryan definitely knows how to pull at the heartstrings!
Marshall and Wren’s story was so captivating and engaging. I was hooked from the start and stayed on the edge of my seat until the end. The author crafted an unforgettable story for these two characters, and definitely took me on a roller coaster of emotions. I laughed, smiled, and swooned my romance-loving heart out and was ecstatic with the conclusion. Kaylee Ryan wrote the perfect ending for this amazing couple, and I couldn’t have been happier with the outcome.
Moving, swoon-worthy magic, Marshall and Wren’s love story had all the feels and was full of longing, all-consuming chemistry and healing. I struggled between not wanting to put it down and not wanting it to end. As sad as I am to see this series end, Kaylee Ryan couldn’t have penned a more perfect conclusion.
Marshall finally feels the magic in the last book of the Riggins brothers series. He meets single Mom and widow, Wren and it doesn't happen quite as quickly as with some of the others but it's just as powerful when it does. This is a fairly low angst romance but you will likely get a little teary. I'm sad to read the end of this series but I loved it.
I.....just hate this book so much it took everything in my to finish it cause I kept wanted it to get good but it didn't I was boring and pretty mediocre.
Also will has there's not a 3rd act break up but there is a stupid completely unnecessary argument that was annoying, so all I can say is I hated this book and it had me so pissed off the entire time.
I just loved this book!!! It was so sweet!!! Single mom tropes may be my favorite and this one didn’t disappoint!
I loved the Riggins family! I have only read this book but it made me want to read the other brothers stories for sure!
Marshall was just an amazing man! He cared for Wren and Madeline so much and he knew exactly what he wants. From the moment he realized it, he was all in!
Wren worked so hard for Madeline and I was so happy to see her taken such good care of. Madeline was adorable! I love how she would cry if Marshall was in the room and not holding her!
Oh my heart! Marshall is such a sweetheart! I fell for him from the very beginning! When he meets Wren you know it’s going to be special! Marshall and Wren had such a special connection. I loved that he finally found his magic. That he embraced it and never let Wren go! The ending was so sweet! I’m so glad Marshall finally got his happy ending with Wren! ❤️
I’m so sad to say goodbye to the Riggins family! But I loved everything about them! 🥰
I tried I did. I got to 50%, but it’s just not good. She allows a random man and his family to hold her 5 month old and leaves the 5 month old with them? He wants this love and only realizes it when she’s standing somewhere? He’s more obsessed with her kid I can’t lie. I know more about Travis than anyone and he’s dead. It was just BORING.
Listened via Hoopla. Really liked this low angst story! A few small bumps that kept things interesting, but most of it was just their falling in love story. 4.25 stars for me!
Very promising beginning but unfortunately there ended up being no chemistry between the main characters. The big disagreement was so out of proportion, too. Felt a little forced- like the author just had to have a third act problem,so she tried to insert it randomly. Sometimes you don’t have to have a disagreement and the book can just be happy at the end…
Holy sweetness!! Who would have thought Marshall could be so endearing?? Beat By Beat was the fifth book in Kaylee’s Riggins Brothers series. It was swoony, sexy, and oh so heartwarming!
Wren was a single mom just trying to make ends meet. Her life was not as she planned, but she wouldn’t change it for the world. Her little baby girl was everything. She was also very proud, so when she allowed Marshall to help her once, she couldn’t let him do it again.
As Marshall watched each of his brothers find their happy ever after, he wondered if he would find his too. Meeting Wren took him by surprise. She was a single mother who wanted nothing to do with him, but he wasn’t going to let that stop him. The harder he tried, the farther she seemed to get, would he be able to show her that they were meant for each other before she closed the door on them?
These two!! I loved every second! Wren’s story was heartbreaking but in the end she got her second chance. Their connection was out of this world, and Marshall with her baby girl…gah! I truly don’t want to believe this series is over. It seems to have gone by too fast! I certainly wouldn’t mind getting to see updates of them, 5-10 years in the future :)
Plot: Wren is a single mom to a three-month-old baby. Her husband died while she was pregnant, and she's struggling. Even more, she loved her husband, but it wasn't a deeply romantic love. They were friends and support for each other, and she feels guilty. But not guilty enough that she doesn't notice Marshall when she runs into him at the bakery. He is helpful with her baby but doesn't think too much about it until not too long after, she shows up with his sister-in-law at a family gathering. She soon becomes entrenched in his life, but she's not really good at accepting help, and all he wants to do is love her and take care of her.
Commentary: Marshall was so sweet the way he fell in love with both Wren and her baby. I'll be honest, I know he kept some stuff from her, but Wren's reaction at the end of the story seemed over the top. He was crying, begging her to listen and stay with him, and she was like, "nah, you lied." He . It just seemed excessive. I'm really glad her friend calmed both of them down because that would have been tragic if she had walked away from him that day.
That was a biiiig pile of crap. Beat by beat only make it tachycardic.
I know what a fast romance is but this was a brisk, full speed, super quick romance and that’s a no no for me.
The writing was weird and a lot of things were a little too cringy and there was non character growth.
Wren’s whole personality was being a poor single mom and Marshall was… just there, there was nothing exceptional or even remotely interesting about him.
For me, this book wasn’t even good but still y like to punish myself and I finished it.
The ending was traaashhh, the supposed “problem” was a big load of crap.
The cherry on the cake for me was the “I don’t even know you” but they’re getting married and also “the pain of his betrayal” what betrayal?! I get it can be hard to accept help but that was just her pride talking, honeeey, you’re dirt poor and its for you daughter, he’s literally going to adopt her and the problem is he’s paying the daycare and he lied about it??!!
Did he really did something wrong? Or do you just have trust and money issues?? And OMG we get it!! you’re not with him for his money but he’s still rich might as well give your daughter the life you wanted for her!!
By the end of the book I just wanted to smack some sense to that woman.
“Even as the words pass my lips I know I’m being dramatic” honey, thats not being dramatic that outright being delusional!!! And she kept on with him lying, hon, him paying for daycare and not telling you to not hurt your feelings and to help both you and your daughter grow does NOT enter in any way in the lying area.
And to finish it up with the cheap excuse of her being afraid?! Oh come on that was BS.
The end was yuk-ish and I was DONE in the way of throw the book out the window.
WTF was with the amount of babys in the epilogue like what in the actual FFFF.

Beat by Beat gives us the final Riggins brother and Marshall will have your heart melting within in minutes. The youngest brother and the most easy going of them all will stumble across his magic without even realizing it. Wren and Marshall's story is one that will have your heart soaring as this brother shows us just how big his heart really is. There are plenty of heartfelt moments that will literally take your breath away and some witty banter to add a little lightness to such a emotional and passionate story. Their story will take you to the peak of the mountain but prepare for a quick unexpected fall that will have you holding your breath and hoping that the magic will be there to repair the mistakes. This is a romance story that will definitely make your heart beat and your pulse race and have you falling in love with this single mum, her sweet daughter and another sweet talking Riggins brother.
Saving the best for last!! The reader has already fallen in love with the other four Riggins brothers and watching them fall in love and find their magic was a joy to read, but when it comes to the final brother, Marshall, Kaylee Ryan pulls on the readers heart strings and gives them the best story yet. Combining the forever bachelor who prides himself on being the favorite uncle and a single mother, Wren, who is trying to do the best for her child and throw in a little magic and the emotional and heartwarming couple is born. Nothing better than watching a man fall to his knees and becoming not only husband material but a daddy too. Perfect from the opening pages and once I started I could not put it down. 5 Stars are not enough!!
The baby Riggins brother, Marshall, was a magnificent way to keep the magic alive. Marshall, the baby brother and favorite Uncle, swoops in to help Wren and her baby at the store am when she is down on her luck. Their story is another magical romance, one which I was enthralled with. This book had a great build up, some charming moments, the Riggins family cameos, and just a smidge of steamy time which was perfect. I truly thought I was going to walk away with my heart in tact however just when i was least expecting it my heart was ripped and the tears started.
I loved this story and these characters and all the incredible feels it gave me. Truly a book of relationship goals
Marsh had a very unusual story. I appreciated the fact that he was very considerate of Wren's deceased husband and thought that took him up a notch on the mature scale. The role little Madeline played in this romance was the cutest. Although the magic for this one was a bit on the "lite" side for me, I really enjoyed this story and the end of this series.
Single mom, Wren, is surviving not thriving at this point after her life was turned upside down. When the kind (& HOT) stranger behind her in-line pays for her daughters medication when she can’t afford it she is forever grateful. When she gets home a realizes he not only paid for it but also put money in the medication bag it’s self she’s on a mission to return it to him. Marshall is the baby to the Riggins crew & the only one who hasn’t settled down yet nor does he plan too! Marshall has a big heart & loves kids especially his nephews so when he sees a struggling mom he doesn’t hesitate, but when he introduces himself and she has no idea who he is his intrigued by her & her cute daughter. When Wren figures out who he is & still returns the extra money he put in the bag even though she could use it he’s even more intrigued by her but he let her walk out without getting her number. Fates is a funny thing because they not only keep getting thrown together, but when they realize he is the only man her daughter doesn’t cry with and actually looks for.
This is a super sweet & steamy, friends to lovers, single mom, rich but humble MMC, strong FMC, and found family romance. There is a little bit of angst but overt all it was such a heart warming read.
This is book 5 of The Riggins Brothers books. This book can be read as a standalone but I do recommend reading the other brothers books so you have a better understanding of who is who & their story.
My Edits:
After her life is turned upside down, single mom Wren is merely surviving, not thriving. When Wren figures out who he is & still returns the extra money he put in the bag even though she could use it, he’s even more intrigued by her but he lets her walk out without getting her number. However, fates is a funny thing because they not only keep getting thrown together, Wren realizes he is the only man her daughter doesn’t cry with and actually looks for.
