The crime rate is low in Mallard Bay until Grace Reagan shows up and falls into a grave. Every time she tries to leave the touristy little town on the eastern side of the Chesapeake Bay, something or someone reels her back in. Usually, it’s a murder…
Book 1 - SQUATTER’S RIGHTS - The old Delaney estate hides a family’s tragic secret and a 60-year-old murder. Grace Reagan never wanted to meet her mother’s relatives or buy her family home, but she does want the truth about her own past. Will she find it in the little town on the eastern side of the Chesapeake Bay? Or will a killer find her first?
Book 2 - A COMMISSION ON MURDER - The old farmhouse is creepy enough to be a murder scene and there’s even a dead body on the lawn, but Grace Reagan hopes it’s all a publicity stunt gone horribly wrong. It isn’t, of course. A wealthy eccentric has been murdered and Grace Reagan needs to find out why before there’s another death in Mallard Bay.
Book 3 - BAD INTENT - Heath Overton is missing, and his wives want him back. The Overton clan—one husband, three almost-sister-wives, and eleven children—are ready to debut their television show, but the leading man has disappeared. Everyone’s upset and that’s before the murders start! Can Grace Reagan stop the killings before she’s the next target?
Cheril Thomas is the author of the Eastern Shore Mysteries series. She is also the co-author of a mystery novel, Whispers, and is a published short fiction author. When she's not writing at home in Easton, Maryland, she's traveling with her long-suffering husband, an otherwise brilliant soul who doesn't seem to mind being married to a woman who researches methods of murder. Together, they live to serve Gracie the Wonder Dog, a too-smart-for-her-own-good shaggy black Goldendoodle.
These three books are well-written and enjoyable reads. The characters are well developed and believable. Mostly believable. Book 1 introduces a lot of characters, some from the past and some from the present. Family mysteries keep the reader interested. The village of Mallard Bay seems a little like Mayberry, but with murder and larceny. Book 2 is the least enjoyable of this trip set. There is very convoluted family dynamics and too many insane people. Book 3 ended up being my favorite with a good balance of mystery and murder versus developments in the life of the main character.
The question maybe who is the least crazy not who is crazy. The theory of a family like that is possible but why is it hard because everyone wants to be number one to at least one person.
It was really tough to figure these out. I enjoyed them, except for the grammatical errors. I highlight and make notes when I find them. It makes me wonder how much the proof readers get paid, lol, JK. Naomi L.
Was ok. 1 book was a bit boring and at times confusing. 2nd book about the same. Finally the 3rd book was good and by half thru I could not lay it down. I needed to finish it😂.
