Spence thought life's toughest challenges were behind him. He hadn't drawn his gun on a man in almost fifteen years.
Clay Spencer (Spence to his friends) had to become a man at a very young age. He worked gold mines and the Comstock Lode silver mine in Nevada, and made the cattle drive from Texas to Montana with Nelson Story. He had learned he had exceptional skill with a gun when put to the test.
By age 37, he had established a cattle ranch in Montana, where he planned to live out the rest of his days in peace. A trip to Denver to buy cattle changes everything, as Spence confronts unknown events from his past and threats to a beautiful woman he meets.
Real-life western con man and outlaw Jefferson Randolph "Soapy Smith II is operating in Denver and shows no mercy to those who cross him. Before the trip is finished, Spence will learn that blood is thicker than water.
I have never really read a western and decided to give a try and I could not put this one down. I was hook line and sinker and 100% entertained. This is a breath of fresh air with excitement, history and the kind of family love story you need. Wonderful story writing!
I don’t leave many reviews but this book deserves 5 stars from me. I had cold chills several times while reading it. I’ve read other books by Patrick Lindsey and have never been disappointed. Keep up with the good work.
Good read about a rancher needing more than he had.
Spense had a good Montana ranch but needed to upgrade his herd. In Denver he finds a scource for livestock and a woman who might replace the woman who left him.
Very refreshing to read story where the characters use real actual practical fire arms and not weird stuff like Colt Patterson's or Colt Walkers while carrying a contemporary Single Action Army in their other holsters. How dumb.
This is a well written story of a man looking for a family. His partner is a crusty old curmudgeon. Spence finds new cattle for his ranch, a son he had not known about, and a new wife. Need a book continuing their story, please!
Spence: Blood is Thicker Than Water by Patrick Lindsay. This is a good book full of the usual western drama but has some sweetness added with the young boy and the bakery owner. I truly enjoyed reading this book. Thank you.
This was an excellent read with great characters and definitely lots of action. Would highly recommend this book to all that enjoy a great western story.
