Now that Ben has returned from his adventures in France, a new enemy has set its sights on him. Fame. Reporters are desperate to feed the public's insatiable hunger for intimate details on the elusive mystery man. This desperation leads to danger for Ben's family. Seeking a quiet respite from the intrusion of the press, Ben, Trish, and Rochelle slip away to an all-inclusive resort in Costa Rica. The king and queen of Rap and R&B crash their party, dragging Ben and friends into their drama. Ben's failed attempts to remain private take their toll and Ben's past comes back to haunt him in the most terrible ways. But Ben isn't alone anymore and his friends will do anything to protect the one they love.
Ben Shepherd is back with the third entry of the series, with 725 pages of drama and development. As before, this is my fourth time reading the series; to my knowledge, the author does his own editing, and there's less than one usually finds with such works. Pacing is usually consistent and forward moving. Enjoyed.
Another excellent outing for Ben Shepherd, this mixing both travel with action at home, as he comes to terms with several of the issues of his past, with a rather mixed ending that I won't spoil here.
