He became known for his 1985 novel L’Enfant de Sable (The Sand Child). Today he lives in Paris and continues to write. He has been short-listed for the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Un saggio, di uno scrittore arabo che vive in Francia, che racconta il razzismo negli anni '80, analizzandolo da diversi punti di vista. Un'analisi della difficile convivenza tra culture differenti, che purtroppo rimane tuttora attuale.

I read this for class - European Politics. A reminder that racism and societal exclusion are not offenses unique to North America, but that they are everywhere. Regardless of whether or not you agree with the author's ideals of hospitality and how things "should" be, the book makes you think.
