No cold, frigid Christmas this year The holidays are about to heat up with a Texas affair to rememberCal Daily’s life has become a sad country song. His wife done left, his mama passed away, and his house burnt to the ground. But Cal is determined to change the lyrics of his life and get the townsfolk of Simple, Texas, to stop viewing him as their number one charity case. Last thing he wants or needs is pity. He’s started a new mechanic business and he and his teenage daughter, Cheyenne, are doing just fine and dandy . . . or so he thinks. Cheyenne is convinced they still need a couple things—like a big ol’ house with a real Christmas tree and a new wife for Cal. His headstrong daughter will need more than Santa’s help to get her wish. Cal can’t afford a new house, and after getting his heart broke to smithereens, he wants nothing to do with women . . . until a flat tire brings Jolene Applegate into his shop. Then he can’t stop thinking about what lies beneath her conservative banker’s suits. When a naughty opportunity presents itself, he’ll soon find out. He never dreams he’ll discover the type of woman who can change a tragic country tune into a happily-ever-after love song.Jolene Applegate knows what the townsfolk say about Too rigid and straight-laced to find a husband. After getting dumped at the altar years ago, she’s quite content to take on the role of the town’s old maid and spend her days working at the family bank and her nights reading in the old rambling mansion she shares with her father. What she isn’t content with is her Scrooge of a daddy. How could he turn down Cal Daily’s request for a loan? Cal is a hardworking, good man who has had more than his fair share of misfortune. Which is why Jolene decides to go behind her father’s back and approve Cal’s bank loan. What she doesn’t bank on is the hot-enough-to-burn-biscuits sexual sparks that fly between her and Cal. And when no one in town pays any attention to their growing attraction—who would believe that prim and proper Jolene and workaholic Cal are kissing under the mistletoe—it seems like the perfect set up for a secret affair. No strings attached. Just sex. At least, that’s the plan . . . until all those hot nights in front of a cozy fire leave Jolene’s heart ablaze with a longing for much more. But when Cal discovers she gave him a loan out of pity, her Christmas wish of starting a life with him will melt like fresh-fallen snow.It will take a Christmas miracle to get these two lovers back together…or just one wise old woman who knows that sometimes the most unlikely matches turn out to be the most perfect.Return to the small town of Simple, Texas, for this fun, sexy, holiday romp that is sure to put a smile on your face and the Christmas spirit in your heart.
Katie Lane is the USA Today bestselling author of the Deep in the Heart of Texas, Hunk for the Holidays, Overnight Billionaires, Tender Heart Texas, Bad Boy Ranch, Kingman Ranch, Holiday Ranch series. Katie lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and when she isn’t writing, she enjoys reading, traveling, and cuddling with her high school sweetheart and cairn terrier, Roo.
I can't get enough of Katie Lane's Texas Bad Boys. Taming a Texas Christmas Cowboy is the eighth book in the series and it is another winner! Add in that this is a Christmas romance and that makes it irresistible to me. I loved all the characters and it was great to see characters from the earlier stories. Getting to know Jolene Applegate and Cal Daily in this story was quite interesting. I never guessed these two people had the personalities they do. I am so glad they got their Happily Ever After.
I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
This is Cal Dailey and Jolene Applegate's story in the final book in the Bad Boy Ranch series. Cal a mechanic lives with his 15 year old daughter Cheyenne after a bad divorce. Jolene stills lives with her controlling father and works at the bank the family owns. Two people with nothing in common, that is until Jolene comes to Cal's shop with a leaking tire. They decide to "have the perfect secret affair." Who in Simple would believe that these two would get together? Soo enough they find out that they have a lot more in common than they thought. I enjoyed Cal and Jolene's journey of love and discovery. We also have the pleasure of seeing some of our old friends from the series including Miss Gertie and her cat Rhett Butler, always a laugh. Along with the romance, Cal realizes that his daughter Cheyenne is no longer a little girl and tries to adjust to that. Cheyenne also finds her path as she faces the struggles of teenage love and forgiveness. This is a wonderful heartwarming story that is great any time of the year.
When I start reading a book by Katie Lane, I know I am going to get a wonderful, sexy, humorous story, with hot cowboys and feisty women who try to tame them. And this book was no exception. When Cal Dailey fixes a tire for staid banker Jolene Applegate or as he thought of her growing up as Miss Applegate. He reminds him of being in front of the teacher. Little did he know that she was in need of a “friend with benefits"... She did not want a relationship and neither did Cal. And it had to be kept a secret. And into the mix was his sassy daughter, Cheyanne, who was trying to become a woman too fast for his liking and the “Pink house” that was the site of the friends with benefits location. And of course, Miss Gertie throwing her two cents in and the other town busybodies. With the wonderful and colorful town of Simple, Tx, Cal and Jolene meet and have their secret time together, until it becomes more than just friends, their hearts have other plans.
I loved how Katie Lane brings her characters from friend, to lovers, to HEA. She knows had to draw in her readers with wonderful characters who have you turning the page to find out what is going to happen next in finding your true love in Texas. I loved how the town throughout the books rallied around Cal and Cheyanne when they come into hard times, losing their home and Cal starting up his business. That’s what you want to see in a small-town book. And center it around the Christmas season and she has a hit. I am sorry to see the end of the Bad Boys series but it was wonderful to catch up with all the Bad Boys of the Diamond Ranch and their families.
I look forward to the new series coming our way by Katie Lane and thank her for the opportunity to read and review her books with advance copy.
What a great way to end this series about the Diamond D Bad boys. Even though Cal wasn’t a bad boy from the ranch I’m so glad he got his story told. This book tells a wonderful plot with lots of laughter, joy, and fun with some hot and sexy. It also has a touch of Christmas thrown in. I enjoy single dad stories so this one was a hit. Cheyenne, Cal’s teenage daughter, added to the tension of the story but in a good way. I loved Jolene’s character and how she was able to come into her own out from under her father’s “rule”. Cal and Jolene made a strong, flirty couple once they figured out how to get what they wanted. I totally recommend Taming A Texas Christmas Cowboy as well as this entire series. Each story is so well written, makes you laugh, you may cry a few tears but there is always a happy ever after!
Lighthearted and Sweet!! Single Dad of a teenager finds the woman of his dreams in a woman he’s known his whole life. Based around Christmas time this story is sweet, inspiring, fun and loving. The relationship between Cal and Cheyenne is so true. I remember clearly what it was like to be a teenager with over protective parents. Since it’s just her and Cal it was a little different but not much. LOL!! I loved it!! Jolene and Cal discovering each other was fun and sexy and them getting together was perfect. Loved it!!
Woohoo Katie Lane is absolutely phenomenal with this much anticipated book with Cal Dailey and Jolene Applegate and his daughter Cheyenne. Cal Dailey has been busy raising his daughter Cheyenne and harboring anger from his failed marriage to Clarissa Cheyenne mom, but when Jolene needs a tire fixed on her car will more than sparks fly between them?Jolene works at her fathers bank and lives with him but will he forgive her when he finds out she went against him and gave Cal a loan? Or will a secret romance destroy her heart? This book will put you in the mood for Christmas and also make you Believe in soulmates and true love and how special love can be. I truly have been waiting patiently for their story and Katie didn't disappoint me either. I am now ready for Christmas and in the Christmas spirit.
Cal has no idea the lengths that his banker has gone to - to get him his new business up and running - when her father finds out and she is kicked out of her home - well then things get quite interesting and a wild ride to their final HEA!! Love reading Katie's books!! I read a beta version and freely leave my review!
This is one of those books that it's easy to put spoilers in the reviews. So to try and avoid that issue I will simply say that if you want a very inspiring Christmas story to read this year then look no further because this is one of the really good ones that I have found so far.
I think you will enjoy the story as much as I did and can't wait for you to check it out.
Fantastic! I’m never disappointed in Katie Lane’s books. I only close the book- wanting more, looking forward to the next book, and uplifted by the story she presents.
Katie Lane never disappoints. This is the last book in the series that I didn't want to end. I loved everyone of her"bad boys". I can't wait to read her next series!
